System hangs up on plugging the USB cable from SCXI1600 into my PC
Hello there,
My PC hung up twice during installation on plugging the USB cable from SCXI1600 into my PC. I have installed Labview 7.1
followed by NI-DAQmx 7.4 drivers. I then plug in the cable into one of the USB ports and then switch the power on on the chassis,
SCXI-1000. My PC immediately goes into safe mode switches off and turns back on. I do not know why this has happened. It has worked
fine prior to this.

I figured out why my system was switching to safe mode and shutting the moment I plugged in the USB cable from my SCXI-1600. That was the instruction coming in from Norton Anti-Virus which saw the power and data coming through the USB as a serious intrusion into the system and automatically shuts down even without asking me. I now need to know how to change the setting on the Anti-Virus to recognise SCXI as a client on my computer.

I just bought an ipod touch 4th generation recently, found that it is very difficult to plug and unplug the USB cable from my ipod. Does anyone have this problem?
Some of the Dock connector cables have very small buttons on the rounded adge of the plug, which need to be pushed in to release the plug from the iPod. Look at the picture below, do you notice the "button" on the white connector edge? There's one on the other edge too and they both need to be pressed in to release the "evil looking spike" sticking out of the grey edge.
The shorter plugs (that I've seen) do not have the release mechanism, the plug simply pulls out. -
I have the "Hanvon 5040 drawing tablet",it was working perfectly with mac till last month.As soon as i plug the USB of my tablet into my macbook pro the computer is blocked and an error apears: "you need to restart your computer..."nothing works.Any help?
Check with the manufacturer for updated drivers for your tablet.

My external drive only shows up if I unplug and re-plug the USB cable. Why?
I'm using a Thermaltake BlacX USB 3.0 doc. My iMac isn't 3.0 compatible so it's defaulting to 2.0. When I drop a drive in the powered-up BlacX, it does not appear on my desktop or the finder. However, if I detach the USB cable and plug it right back in, I get a popup asking if I want to use the drive for Time Machine. After dismissing this popup, the drive appears on both desktop and finder and can be accessed as expected.
Of course, this dock is designed to continually and easily swap drives. As soon as I eject and drop in another - same thing. I hear the drive spool up but there's no sign of it. Unplug and replug the cable, and it pops up.
Any ideas why?The interesting thing is I'm not using Time Machine presently. If I go to System Prefs and click on Time Machine, the slider is in the Off position. If I type "Time Machine" into the Spotlight and click the icon, I get a popup telling me "You haven't selected a location for Time Machine backups." There is a button to labelled "Set Up."

Hi. Whenever i plug my iPad (Happens with ipod and iphone too) to my computer usb for itunes is will connect, then disconnect over and over again. It has happened for a long time but doesnt happen on my other computer. how do i fix this?
If you have a spare cable, try using that. But the fact that this doesn't happen on your other computer (I assume using the same old cable) leads me to conclude that something else is at work. Maybe even the "bad" computer.

Yep, it's some California law that all products or constituents listed as possibly causing cancer must have this warning. I'm not sure what it is that the cable has though... but God knows how many cables I'v touched in my lifetime! Although I don't remember eating any, just spaghetti

Unplugging the USB cable from the Handheld.
Everything has gone smooth. Synchronization a problem. But I cannot get the cable out of the handheld. I have pulled. pressed. pushed. It will not come out. Brand new and I don't want to break it. Is there a secret to getting the cable to disengage? Thanks for any help.

There are no official Palm stores you can take your device to for help with your issue.
You may be able to go to a local best buy or a retailer that has a service dept. to see if they can help you with removing the cable. You can also check with a local computer store to see if they can help also.
You should be able to disengage the cable by using the method in the previous post.

Zen Micro Freezes when I plug in USB cable+USB not recognized at ti
Ok, I know you, the reader, has heard this complaint posted over and over on the Creative forums, and you would probably tell me to SEARCH THE FORUMS. Well, I did, and I found no answer or solution to my problems. So..here goes nothing.
I recently purchased a Black 5gb Creative Zen Micro, I was really content and happy with it...that is until I plugged it into my USB 2.0 Card. The moment I do that (I've tried plugging it in into every USB 2.0 slot, and NO, this isn't a hub, but a PCI card), The Zen Micro freezes! I have to resolve this by removing the cover and taking out the battery, then reinserting the battery. At the same time my Zen Micro freezes, a little bubble pops up on my computer screen saying "USB Device Not Recognized". I'm going absolutely out of my mind here, and am on the verge of returning the Zen Micro, and might get a replacement, and if that doesn't work, just returning the Zen altogether for a refund and getting a Rio Carbon. I really like the Zen, so PLEASE PLEASE help me out here!
Things I've Tried That Did Not Work:
-Uninstall/Reinstalling Zen Explorer, Mediasource (basically everything on CD)
-Updating the drivers for Zen Micro found on Nomadness.net
-Updating Firmware for Zen Micro
-Going into rescue mode and cleaning up, Formatting, reloading firmware, and rebooting.
-Trying the USB 2.0 Card in different PCI Slots
-Rotating the order in which I connect the USB cable to Zen Micro and PC
-Uninstalling/Reinstalling the drivers, even when the Zen Micro pops up as "Unknown Device"
-Reading tips/hints on Nomadness.net
I have scoured the forums, and have not found anything useful or new. I know its not the USB 2.0 Card's problem, since I plugged in my USB mouse into all the ports on the USB Card, and it worked fine.
Note: When I plug the USB cable that came with the Zen Micro into the integrated USB slots on the motherboard (USB .), it at times, does work, but even then, not a high chance of it happening. Even if I do successfully connect the Zen to a USB . slot without it freezing up, the Zen ends up not being detected by any program, like Window Media Player, Mediasource, or Creative Zen Micro Explorer.
I am going out this weekend and am gonna try to buy a new USB Cable, and if that doesn't work, returning the cable, and returning the Zen Micro to be replaced. AND IF THAT DOES NOT WORK...GOODBYE CREATIVE! HELLO RIO! But please, any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated. I will also try to contact Creative Customer Support, but I doubt they'll tell me anything new, if I could even connect to them without being put on hold.

USB 2.0Yep, that's exactly my issues to.....no matter what I've done, including replacing the USB 2.0 card which WAS and Adaptec DuoConnect 2.0 card which works fine with every other USB device ever connected to it, the Zen Micro 6g is NOT recognized by Creative Media Source or WMP. It is only recognized by the PC in Device Manager, and it has a yellow marker on it, which tells me the drivers are not installed. I know I don't need the drivers installed, but even after installing them, it tells me the drivers are not installed.
However, the answer is: it's definitely not the Micro, since it works flawlessly on my other PC and on my Toshiba notebook. So, it's some compatibility issue on that one PC. Since I refuse to let things be, I am reformatting that PC, reinstalling from scratch with WinXP and sp2. This PC has WinXP Pro but it has other issues so a reformat is in order anyway. Hopefully, this will resolve the issues. If not, then I say it's incompatibility with the Intel 865Perl m.b. But I'm at a loss as to why it won't work when plugged into the Adaptec card too. -
I got a usb charger for my 4th gen Ipod touch that at first allowed my to charge and transfer music from my laptop to the Ipod now nothing happens when I plug the usb cord and Ipod into my laptop. Its mac so it is an apple system. I am wondering how I can fix this problem I am not very good with techy stuff so this is very confusing how it was working and it just stopped.

That is never fun when your iPod touch does not show up on your Mac. Take a look at the article below to walk you through on getting it to show back up on your iTunes. It is very easy to read so you wont feel overwhelmed with to much techy jargon. Let me know if you get this worked out.

Was the music purchased via your iTunes account and/or did you buy it from other sources or copy it from your own CDs, or did the music belong to the previous owner ? If the music was yours then you can sync it back to the iPod via your computer's iTunes. If the music is not still on your computer then have you got a backup of it ? If not then for iTunes purchases you might be able to re-download it depending on which country you are in. If the music was put on the iPod by the previous owner then you will need to buy your own copies of it.

Neither my iPod Touch nor my iPhone will show up in iTunes when I plug in through the USB cable. My software is updated, I've restarted everything, I've reset the devices, but still no luck. Help?!
Check your System Profiler to see if your computer is recognizing them. You may need to reset the computers SMC.
