System identification for power converter

Dear All,
i am working on system identification  for the buck converter . for this i generated variable duty cycle with 20KHz switching frequency on analog output AO1 of usb 6221, now i want to introduce perturbation PRBS in steady state. now my problem is to add perturbation on analog output. please suggest me how to do this on analog output.
thanks
with regards

Do you want to mix some signal to your PWM signals? You can use normal add function to add your AO PWM signals with the PBRS perturbation signal.

  • System identification for open loop unstable plant?

    Hello,
I have been trying to use system identification on labview. My problem is that my plant is open loop unstable and none of the tutorials or examples I have found seem to cover this so I cannot get it to work. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should go about it? My plant has an RC servo so it needs a PWM signal to stimulate it.
    Thanks

I want to control my plant with lead/lag control but I do not know the plant model which makes this very difficult. I cannot theoretically calculate it because the information I need to obtain a numerical transfer function or state space model is unavailable.
I have it controlled with PID at the moment but this is not ideal.
I am trying to use the system identification toolkit to obtain a transfer function but I do not know what to do because the examples do not work for open loop unstable plants.

Ok Open loop unstable functions cannot be predictably controlled (hence the terms; open loop and unstable,)  Not being able to model the actions is a bit of a problem too.
Somehow, someway you need to get some kind of model or some kind of feedback to either provide stability in the plant or close the loop.
Adding hardware (sensors) is the most likely solution.
tell me more about the plant, I do this kind of thing for a living, so I could offer some ideas.

  • System identification miso models

    Hi,
I want to know is it possible to identify the MISO and MIMO models using system identification toolkit?
I m using fieldpoint 2010. The program is running very slow inside the fieldpoint. so is it possible to divide the program in such a way that few compuations(which are less critical)  run inside the  computer and few inside the fieldpoint?
    Regards,
    Sai

    Hi Ruser,
LabVIEW System Identification toolkit provides SI Convert to Models of CDT VI to convert a model you created in the LabVIEW System Identification Toolkit into a transfer function, zero-pole-gain, or state-space model that you can use with the LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation Module.

  • RLS for system identification: problem in creating a signal + noise input.

i have successfully implemented the RLS algorithm in labview, but i am having alot of trouble generating an input. at first i used a ptbypt sine input and wired it to my FIR Filter (win coeff ptbypt) and to my data queue (ptbypt) to generate U(n). When i plot the adjusted weights they give a perfect Sinc Function.
So, after this i add in a gaussian White noise VI (ptbypt) and add it's output with the output of the sine wave VI (ptbypt) and like before wire the output of the summation to the FIR Filter and the data queue point by point. The problem that is occurring is that my tap weights after becoming constant do not change. they are the same for when i enter the sine wave alone and when i enter the sine wave with the gaussina white noise, tap weights are same. they only change when i change the low cutoff of the FIR FIlter.
its would be very much appreciated if someone may help me solve this problem i am having. I made the RLS (for system identification) as Final Year Engineering Project.

the input is a sine wave , the sine wave passes through a system which incorporates a noise in it (we say the noise incorporated by the system is the Gaussian white noise) the corrupted input enters the system , the filter weights are adjusted by the algo, and a sine waveform is extracted filtering the noise.
what kind of LTI system. Can you please elaborate? and i cant switch to LMS my project is RLS.

  • System Identification Assistant Signal Generator

    Hello,
I am using a GW Instek power source to heat a graphite rod within a vacuum chamber.  I am detecting the temperature with a K type thermocouple connected to a thermocouple input module.  I have written a labview program with a PID and have everything running, yet i force tuned the PID. I would like to use the signal identification tools labview provides to identify the transfer function and model the process.  I have used the system identification assitant in attempting to send a step signal and acquire a response, yet I have been running into difficulties.  The only way I can perform a step function is to manually generate an output of a specified power and then measure the response, as the signal generator within the system identification software is not identifying the GW Instek PSW 30-108 power source. With manual input and importing both input and output data i am able to get a parametric model, yet the transfer function provide me PID values which are 5 orders of magnitude greater then the ones i am currently using. Ideally i would like to use the software to generate the signal and measure the response continuously rather then using data i collect through my program.  If possible, I would also be interested in perhaps directly integrating VI's to perform signal analysis directly into my process program.
Problems and what I have done:
I have the drivers for the power source and my process program recognizes the device yet system ident assist cannot find the hardware. I have attempted to creat a task in NI-MAX yet the hardware is also non-identifiable.
Port module input works with VISA and this is how my VI is communicating with the power source.
    Goals:
I would like to use the system ident assist to generate power ouput and collect temperature input, and generate a process model, so that I may tune my PID more accuratly.
Also, I may be interested in integrating VI's directly into my process program, yet I am new to the LV language...
I have attached  my Labview program below.  I would like to thank you in advance for your time and look forward to responses.
    Cheers

  • System identification error 41263

    hi...
can somebody please explain why i am getting an error "41263-The System Identification Toolkit cannot retrieve the data in system model because the model type you wire in is incompatible with the system model requirements. " while using model simulation vi to simulate an arx model i created using estimate arx model vi?

    Hi ajaleelp,
Sorry for the delayed response on this, but I have a few questions for you.  Are you just receiving this error at run-time? Meaning you have no broken wires or anything, but the VI stopsat the model simulation VI?
Also, have you tried our example for model simulation? You can find it here:
    C\program files\national instruments\labview [version]\examples\System Identification\Getting
    Started\General.llb
This actually uses the estimate arx and model simulation VIs. So, you should be able to see if that works, and then compare it to your system.
    Hope this helps!

  • HT201897 Does a Mac Mini purchased in the USA require a power converter for operation in Europe or should I only purchase a different power cord for it?

Does a Mac Mini purchased in the USA require a power converter to operate outside of the USA or can I simply purchase a different power cord for it?

Depending on which European country (should their mains access plug/port shape vary) the
cord set with correct ends on it has to match. You can buy a cord that plugs into the Mini
where the factory cord goes, and the other end has one for the wall source shape. The wire
for the application should be able to support 110~240VAC.
With the cord or an accurate image in hand, you could either get a new cable to match both
realities (mini + wall supply mains local) or an adapter (US/Standard to EU/Local) for just
the head or input part of the original Apple cable. One plugs into the other, then into wall.
If you have a new Mini with a small modular plug/port on the computer end of the power wire,
it would have only two holes and no ground; the other end would have two prongs of equal
shape and size. Not a polarized plug and not a grounded three-prong. To get a replacement
power wire for the MINI to go from power source to the Mini is recommended, if you are going
to be staying in one location for awhile. A Travel Kit that offers no electrical conversion but only
the physical shape adapter kit, should a available in travel stores, airports; big box discount
stores, computer and electronic stores. This page shows the cord end of the appliance shapes.
The other end would be the mains shape for whichever country you are going to....
    http://www.signalandpower.com/European-Power-Cords/
So to match the country or regional power mains type is a primary concern for obtaining the
correct replacement cord to supply the Mini with local mains power. The end which plugs into
the Mini is of a certain type (numbers for EU and elsewhere are published, see link + images)
& the end that gets plugged into the mains or utility side, needs to match the local specification.
The link to Apple, to contact for Support and Service information in prior post, should be able
to help find a source for the local replacement type cord they'd sell local people with a Mini.
Apple local sources offer replacements for this purpose; and for travelers, a second cord for
a direct use (not adapter plugs) is a better bet. For those who only need a cord in two places.
If you are traveling to Denmark, UK, Swiss or other EU countries require different adapters.
Even places where the power itself may be somewhat similar. However your MINI has an
automatic power supply that will conform to that energy standard, you only need to supply a
correct non-transforming adapter. Simply a connection to adapt one shape to another.
The general purpose travel kit that is not specialized to Apple power adapters, would have a
plastic plug/adapter with the local pins on one side, and the US/standard two slots on the other.
So, no circuitry nor any other change of electrical power inside this device would be required.
    http://www.signalandpower.com/2-Prong-Plug-Adapters/
    http://www.signalandpower.com/Convert-to-Europe-CEE-716-plug/
    http://www.signalandpower.com/Swiss-AC-Power-Cords/
In other words, I believe my other post already covered this. On the ground on either end of the
path, adapters are common and the Mini does not use proprietary electrical components IF you
have one of the more recent shape aluminum models with the power supply built in. The older
Mini has the power brick and two wires. A US/Standard plug adapter to EU/Local would work in
either case, since all you'd do is plug the adapter plug into the local mains and the US plug into
that one... I see these kinds of discards for as little as 25¢ in thrift stores in Alaska. Or you can
buy a new one. Or you could get a complete cord with correct ends on it, for Mini + local mains.
Hopefully this helps somewhat. The only info missing is which EU country or region is involved.
Their shapes of plug are different, so the adapter end for local supply has to match their standard.
Swiss, Denmark, UK, and others offer different shapes and so on.
The Apple store in the location you are traveling should be able to supply you with a replacement
cable for a modern MINI, that has the correct local mains end, and the correct Apple mini end on
the opposite. Since the unit is automatically switching, the magic is done.
Since I supplied a means to locate any number of Apple stores, authorized service providers &
other Apple related vendors in my earlier reply: https://locate.apple.com/country you could contact
any of them along your route in the City in whichever EU country, to find a local MINI power cable.
    In any event, I'm done...
    Good luck and happy trails...

  • Do I need a power converter for my ipad in Ireland?

Do I need a power converter for my ipad2 and my macbook air (11 inch 2010) in Ireland?
Sorry, I'm new to this site and just found the answer to my question in another post.

I was on my way out earlier and didn't have time to see if easily bought in USA, but I also would have suggested a power strip for the UK. Also, not aware of Picachu's needs - if traveling with others, etc., ...
For many years, once our sons got ipods, I have always brought a power strip (w/usb) on vacations and even on long weekends to weddings for all the items I listed above plus rechargeable tooth brushes, beard trimmers, and two ipads. It has made recharging so much easier. (I have friends in similar situations who hadn't thought to bring a power strip for charging things for their family all at once overnight.)
So thanks for bringing it up. Meanwhile, Picachu got an answer early and without having checked 'get e-mail notif.' he/she might not have a clue. Still happy you brought it up.
    Thanks.

  • Power converter required for new iMac?

I have taken my new iMac to Germany. The provided power cord does not have a converter like the Mac laptops have. Do I need to purchase a power converter that will step down the voltage when plugging into the outlets in Germany, or is there a control on the computer to adjust for the increased voltage?

To add additional clarification, I understand that I will need a plug adapter and have used one before without issue for my macbook laptop as the provided cord allows for switching the plug end to match the european outlets. The converter box on the cord (the white box) then steps down the voltage so the laptop can run safely being powered by the 220v outlet. The new desktop iMac, as I mention above, has a cord without the converter box. I am concerned that if i just use a plug converter, the computer will not be able to handle the additional voltage.

  • HELP PLEASE! :-) any know where can i get a new power converter cable for my Audigy 2 Platinum P

    HI
This is a great forum; the posts on here have helped me out so many times with my Platinum Pro card. Unfortunately, I have lost my power converter cable, and obviously without it I am serious up the old creek if you know what I mean. My plans for world domination of the music industry have stalled!
Now I know theres loads of you with bigger brains than me out there so could anyone point me in the direction of a replacement for it's
    CHEERS!
    TOM

I built a new PC for use as a DAW, everything works great, it's fast and silent. Everything but the sound card, an Audigy 2 Zs Platinum. My problems is with the "Platinum" daughter card, actually a breakout box. I have somehow lost the power adapter, a four pin, Red, Black, Black, Yellow connector. It probably left with an old power supply, it's been stored for a while.
I have another four pin connector that fits, but it is not keyed for my card. I can shave the keys off, and it will fit but I don't know which pin is the red, and which is yellow. If anyone has one of these, I would appreciate hearing the pin order. Is red inboard or outboard? This is how mine looks:
    O O O O O O O O O ----- Inputs and knobs
    !!!!! !!!!!FireWire!!!!!!!
    ____________Power
    Inboard -----> |||| -- Outboard
Creative manuals are in monotone, and my warranty is up, so they won't tell me for free.

  • Do I need a 240 to 120v power converter for my iPad and iPhone when I am in Germany?

On a Viking River Cruise boat do I need a 240v to 120v power converter for my iPad and iPhone chargers?

All Apple chargers work from 100-240VAC, 50-60Hz power. All you will need is a plug adapter for the country you are in.
BTW - You can use your iPad charger to charge your iPhone, and it will charge the iPhone faster.
