System Identification with Digital System

Hey,
So when using the system identification toolkit, the user excites the system with a analog signal. After they're finished with the entire process they're able to get a plant model of their system. So what if they're system will be using digital inputs/outputs (e.g. a digital amplifier on their proportional valve), can their system be excited with digital outputs and then achieve a digital plant model? Or must their system be an analog system to use the toolkit?

If your search didn't turn them up, then you probably have the base package of LabVIEW and the functions are not included. The search function is at the top of the functions palette.
You can use either function provide data to a DAQ output. If you want to use an analog output, you just have to wire the waveform to a DAQmx Write. Look at any of the shipping examples for DAQ output. Most of them use waveforms such as a sine wave but it doesn't matter. Waveform data is waveform data.

Hi Manjula,
If you encounter problems when establishing a connection to your target server, check the following:
A message box appears while performing one of the following actions:
      Setting connection by choosing Apply to local session.
      Testing connection settings by choosing Test settings.
      Creating SAP TSQL objects
If errors occurred, they are displayed in the respective message box.
   Check developer trace files in ST11.
Test connection:
     For RFC related errors, check the RFC connection via SM59
     For database multi-connect errors, check if you can connect to the target SQL Server with the SQL Server Query Analyzer. Also check if the DBCON entries are correct.

Need help in configuring CHARM with R/3 System landscape with seven systems

we are planning to configure CHARM for our R/3 landscape.our current STMS includes seven systems.in the current STMS the transports flow as below.
D20->C20->C21->C22->C23->T20->P20
we require the transports to move in the same way as stated above even after CHARM is configured
1.please let me know if we can configure CHARM with seven systems.
2.if yes, how would the import happen( ie Action for import appears for all systems?).

the transports will move in the following order.
D20(DEV)->C20(Consolidation)->C21(integ)->C22(reg)->C23(unit)->T20(final test)->P20(production)
transport will start in D20,then imported C20 followed by C21,C22,C23,T20 imports and finally reach P20
the systems are not in parallel they are one behind the other

Source System Refresh with BW system Connected

Hi SDN Gurus,
We are doing a source system refresh for CRM 5.0 Production to CRM Quality.My question is the source system of the BW system will be Changed and the BW Quality will have old data. What are the Post Activities which needs to be done in BW 7.0 system after the CRM system is refreshed.
So that the Quality BW system which will be now Production can have fresh data from Production System of CRM.

I have another issue. My CRM Reports BI 7.0 is being displayed in Enterprise Portal, We have defined variables for user entry and they can select the values from the selection screen of the variable.
Let's say we have 80 thousand records and we have variable let's say Client Name, where the user wants to select his client name and display records for that client. The Screen shows him only 72 rows of data i.e nearly 1000 records of Client Name. But we have nearly 20000 client names, and only 1000 client names are being displayed to select from. If he does a filter (eg: A, it displays all the names starting with A, but when we say B or C*, though the data is available in the ODS table, those client name is not displayed in the Screen.
My question is how to Display all the Values or atleast when he gives A* or B* or Z* it should display those Names, so that he can see the records for those client Name.
I have done all sorts of R&D to achieve this but in Vain.
Please help me to sort this.

X1 and USB Port Replicator with digital video - hangs system

Hi
with the X1 to help with docking it everyday at the office I have a USB Port replicator with digital video. I am not using the digital video but the USB ports, head phone and mics plus ethernet.
When I plug it in it detects it OK, I then installed the software. But after reboot it looks to stall when logging into windows, screen flickers back and forth and locks up the operating system. I unlplug it and reboot and window is working fine.
Note as I mentioned I am not using the digital output but instead using an external monitor via the display port on the back of the laptop.
Also its is very slow to boot (Lenovo bios splash screen is there for about a minute)
I have gone into the bios and turned off all other bootable devices just leaving the laptops hard drive.
As a work around I have removed the software and I am getting the basic functionality of the port replicator, but not the ethernet.
I have run the update manager but does not appear to show a need to update the drivers.

Hi, I have this same exact problem.
Video (anything from youtube to downloaded shows, movies) will freeze for 5-7 seconds at a time. The sound continues to play while the video is 'frozen', and the video resumes after that.
It will happen on its own, with no bumping, but it is more prone to happen if I do something like increase the volume within the media player.
Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Problem with Digital Signature strategy in Document Managment System

Hello ALL,
I am facing problem with Digital Signature strategy in DMS. If any help its greatly appreciated.
I have senario where Approvers in DMS will review the document and approve the document and put on their digitial signature. if i have multiple approvers maintained in the characterstics it has to check weather it has been approved by all approvers otherwise it has to reset the status to for approval.
My problem is i am able to reset the status back from approved to for approval using the badi document_status01 but when the next approver logs in to the document and change the status to approved he is not able to get the digital signature pop up which it comes only first user approves it.
can any one help me out on whats going wrong in it.

Hi,
maybe the reason for this is that the status of the digital signature is not changed. Then the system thinks that the digital signature is still completed and therefore the user is not getting the pop-up again. The database table for the digital signature for documents is TC77. I hope this information is usefull for you.

Workstation specs -- Any problems with this system quote?

Here are the specs I have been quoted. I'm not terribly knowledgeable about hardware, does anyone see any problems with this system? I have recently started shooting and editing weddings, engagements and corporate videos. I think it may be bit more than I need, but I would much prefer that to less than I need. I would have selected the Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD over the Intel 520, and Areca's ARC-1882i over the Intel SAS controller you list, but those are preferences not essential changes.

System Identification and Transfer Function of the LEGO MINDSTORM NXT Robot

Can anybody please help with the below question.
Using your LabView interface, input different values of power and record the output value of the number of wheel rotations. You can convert the latter into speed by measuring the diameter of the wheel. Then, type ‘ident’ in the command line of Matlab to launch a graphical user interface for system identification. Using the data collected for input power and recorded speed, you can derive the transfer function for your robot in the Laplace domain.
You will notice that it is possible to approximate the transfer function to a first order system.
Add disturbance to your system such as wind drag, road profile or friction. You might want to model the disturbance as a sinusoidal waveform.
Analyse the system response in LabView in order to tune the response.
Finally, write a LabView program to test your controller.
Set both Integral and Derivative to 0
Increase the value for Proportional controller to 0.5, 0.8, 1, 1.1, 1.3, and 1.5
Select a suitable simulation stop time.
Compare each simulation results and draw some conclusions.
Record the steady-state error. Has it dropped to near zero?
Record the rise time. Has it decreased to less than 0.5 second? And for what values of Kp?
Check whether this response is realistic i.e. a real cruise control system generally cannot change the speed of the vehicle from 0 to 10m/s in less than 0.5 second.
Adjust the gain (Kp) to give a reasonable rise time and add an integral controller to eliminate the steady-state error.
Change both Kp and Ki and see what happens to the response. When you adjust the integral gain Ki, start with a small value since a large Ki can destabilise the response. (Ki =0.001, 0.002, 0.003, 0.004).
Then you need to adjust both the proportional gain Kp and the integral gain Ki to obtain the desired response. Record the values of Kp and Ki that can meet all the design criteria.
Write the PID-feedback control LabVIEW program as described above.
Does it work? Quantify! Show us it is working
Hand in a short report on the PID project on the cruise control of the LEGO MINDSTORM NXT Robot. Your report should contain an introduction to cruise control and uses of PID controllers, a brief explanation of how PID feedback control works. The printout of the Block Diagram and Front Panel of your LabVIEW program should be attached at the end of your report.
Put it all together. There are many questions that can be explored and written up in the result section. Be creative.
Here are some things that may be addressed: Check whether your system can stabilise speed to within 1%. What are the optimal PID parameters that you have found? Can you choose PID parameters to both reach the set speed quickly and also maintain the speed within good accuracy once the system has reached the set speed? Can you control the speed of small steps? Explain your results?

System identification of a "complex" system

I would like to use labview to extract the transfer function of a closed loop control system. This system uses a PID loop to control the amplitude and phase of a radio frequency cavity.
I can easily excite the real world system with a step response (or any arbitary excitation).
The step response from the system has both amplitude and phase, and in labview is an array of type "extended complex".
Is the NI system identification toolkit capable of extracting the transfer function in both amplitude and phase? I have an evaluation version and have been unable to get this working.

System Identification uses frequency response based on "bode" graphs. This means that it has two graphs: one representing the magnitude over the frequency range and the second is the phase against frequency (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bode_plot)
If you see the literature, on complex numbers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complex_number), the polar form describes how you can convert Real +/- imaginary to magnitude and phase. Notice that, in general, the magnitude is expressed in log scale and special care is necessary to allow you to use the functions. Fortunately for you, System Identification allow you to use "linear" scale in the conversion. You define this on the "FRF format".
Also, notice that the SI Estimate FRF function is only used when you have the time-domain data (input and output over time) and the other functions in the frequency domain Model Estimation palette are used to convert bode responses into a polynomial in the S-domain or Z-domain.
Please let me know if you still can't configure the functions.

Four digit numbering system starting with 0001 and not just 1.

How can I re name and renumber a file of photos and include a four digit numbering system starting with 0001 and not just 1. I need this so another computer program can keep the images in numerical order
Now I number a wedding say... Smith_Jones 1 ect up to 659 but a program I use to create albumes scrambles all my photos becasue they say the numerical system has to have 4 digits so Number 1 is really 0001 thus staying in order. I d ont see how to assign 3 zeros to the front of numbers --- so # 344 would be 0344 LR wants to keep it 344.

1. In positive time management we record the actual time of the employee working in organization and following are the infotypes we need to maintain in master data,
          1. Organztion Assignement [0001]
          2. Personal Data [0002]
          3. Absence Quota [2006]
          4. Planed working time [0007] with the time management status " if you are using PDC then "2" " Or "1. Time evaluation actual time".
          5. Time Recording Info [0050]
2. In Negative time management we are only recording the time deviation like "Absence, Illness, Leave" and following are the Infotype we need to maintain in master data,
         0001, 0002,0007 with time management status "0" i.e No time evaluation and 2006.

Modelling and simulation of digital system

HI All,
I want to model and simulate a digital system:
I/P is 2 volt pk to pk analog signal which will be digitized with 16 bit ADC (2's complement). this digitized signal has to mulitplied with ( digital Sine and cosine waves). The o/p has to filtered with a fix point FIR filter then sqaured and added.
I want to study effects of truncation at different stages.
I am attaching a basic model.

System identification using labwindows?

Hello,
I have some linear models to test and need to identify the parameters using estimation algorithms like arx, armax, oe. I am doing that now with an old version of Matlab (2002!!) but since all my other programs run in LabWindows CVI (8.5.1), I would like t know if there is something like a system identification toolkit but not for Labview but for Labwindows! or some library that I can add... any ideas?

The best versions of Matlab are the old ones, they don't cost so much
You really need to be looking for a system identification library written in C. I was a little surprised, when I had a quick trawl, that I couldn't find one so easily. The only toolkits that come up on Google searches seem to be the Matlab and LabVIEW ones. There's stuff like the Numerical Recipes implementations for estimation, that give you the building blocks, but you'd still need to be referencing Astrom, Goodwin & Payne, or another reference to complete the implementation.
I'd be interested to know why you would really want to implement in C. Most system identification is offline, and which tool you use - C, Matlab, LabVIEW - is really immaterial.

"System Identification ErrorR I=377703" - "An error occurred while trying to set the IP address"
I've tried many IP's with or without DHCP .
anyone have any idea ?

If this error is during the OS installation, I would suggest skip the Network configurastion and continue with the installation. Latter once the OS installation is done....run sys-unconfig and configure the network.
