How I got the .4181 OS finally installed and running stable
Hi folks,
after a very long night shift, I am "proud" to announce that my Z10 is now running stable in 4181 without any missing functionalities. (even phone calls seem to work properly :-) )
Interested in how I got there, then just read on:
IMPORTANT:
If not already done, BACKUP ALL DATA on Your Z10 device, You´ll surely need this Backup! :-)
After the everlasting security wipe, which I tried to interrupt several times, by pulling the battery (and the SIM) out, it finally stopped and showed me the connect to PC icon on the screen of the Z10.
So I connected my Z10 and restored the factory FW using the BlackBerry Link Software, WITHOUT having the SIM inserted.
After the first initial setup, I looked for SW Updates, but (and of course) none was presented, due to the missing SIM, so I continued to do some basic setups and "testing" the bare system. All went fine.
After that, I reinserted my SIM, powered the Z10 up and tried to copy the previous backup back onto the Z10, which was (another of course and obviously) not possible, due to mismatching SW-Releases.
So with the SIM inserted, connected to a WiFi and my mobile carrier, I once again checked for updates and voila, .4181 was available, this time having 359MB.
(--> BlackBerry just seems to provide the "basic emergency" OS, all further updates and releases are distributed through Your individual mobile carrier)
I initiated that download, went to bed to get at least a few hours of sleep and when I woke up, I did, what the display on the Z10 wanted: Restart the device.
The then following boot sequence was fast and smooth, reaching the 100% in just under two minutes, no freeze, no hangers, no being stuck.
There I had my bare device on which I could copy my previously carried out backup again in no time!
Of course I had to reenter the some passwords and the SMS were gone, but looking at the last days, I think this is the biggest progress of it all ;-))
THIS is how I did it. Of course I know that I defied against some of the most important rules and therefore I can and will not give You any guarantees that this "solution" will work unlimited, but considering my high level of frustration and how angry I was, these measures seemed legit to me and I can tell, they just worked fine! ;-)
the steps in summary:
- Backup all Data
- do a Security Swipe
- extract SIM
- reset to factory presets using BlackBerry Link
- re insert SIM
- look for provider updates
- install
- copy previous backup to device
- don´t worry
- be happy
PS: Don´t panic, if it takes longer or if nothing seems to happen. What I burnt mostly the last days, where minutes, hours and days

I have Vista: Ultimate 32 bit edition. Everything works the stereo the 5. surround sound but the main things I did notice is that alot of the options like the crystalizer and various options wouldn't save. They would definately work just when I went into creative console to adjust some more they all went back to the default settings even though they worked and were changed earlier.
Whilst playing Call of Duty 2 it wouldn't use the EAX, I haven't tried other games . I would recommend staying with XP as of right now if you have uninstalled Vista and wait for proper drivers , there is no guarantee the way I installed or explained how to fix will work for you. Just as others before have gotten things to work with different steps to install they did not work for you, so mine not work for you. If you still have Vista installed then why not give my simple step a shot in my first post. -
How can I run Photoshop Elements4 with Windows7. The operating system will not open and run it.
My New computer has windows 7 installed, and it will not open and run my photoshop elements 4 programme. Do I need an upgrade, or can it be run in any other format on this computer.
Did it install and you're just getting errors trying to run it? If so, try clicking on your Start button. Then, go to All Programs, find the entry for Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 and "right click" on it. Select Properties, and in the Properties dialogue click the Compatibility Tab and try running it in XP Compatibility mode and see if it works that way.
If not, then it is really not compatible. Just buy the latest (Photoshop Elelments 9) while they offer $40 mail-in rebate (Ends January 5, 2011)

LV doesn't have any sort of Startup folder as we are a little concerned
about the security issues this brings about. You can specify VIs on the
command line for LV to open. And VIs can be set to run when opened.
Combining these features, you wind up using the system's Startup folder,
placing either a batch file or a shortcut to LV with the command line
options added to list out the VIs, and finally, set the VI properties
so
that the VIs run when opened.

SQL: System locks up and runs slow after performing simple DML record insert
SQL Version: 2008 R2
I am having a serious problem. I ran the following code to perform a simple table record insert which ran successfully. However, after running this code I could no longer access the related table. I couldn't run a query against it.
I tried to delete all the records and that wouldn't work either. When attempting to run any DML statements (i.e. Select * From vPCCertificateTypes) against this table SQL gets locked up and never returns anything and no error messages. I have
to manually stop the query. Now the entire SQL system is running slow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. The code I ran to originally insert the records is below.

Bob SutorThe problem was an open uncommitted transaction against the table as you suspected. I ran your code and it cleared the transaction. In the past I would intentionally leave our the Commit statement and then if the transaction ran fine, I would
simply highlight and run 'COMMIT' and it would close the transaction. Apparently that is not the correct approach. I'll use your suggested code from now on.

My Windows 7 Professional desktop system hard disk got corrupted and I took the opportunity to install an SSD for a new system disk and reinstall Windows. The system is up and running on the SSD, with my old system disk now used for storage as it is still readable. The only Adobe product I have reinstalled so far is Reader XI but I would like to reinstall Elements 8 and Acrobat 9 without taking up more licences as both are also installed on my laptop. If you have the two allotted activations already and one was lost on the hard drive that failed then you need to contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.

I did a system restore on my computer. When I had it up and running again, I downloaded the latest version of itunes. Now I can't sync apps to my sons ipod. What can I do to fix this?
If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing and follow the instructions. -
my final cut is running extremely slow after having for 6 months. See if working on the main disk is any faster.
USB2 is glacial, as I/O interconnects go. And USB2 disks have been known to fail, or sometimes to drop back to USB1 speeds, too. FireWire 800 is substantially faster than USB2, but still not as fast as the internal drive connections can provide.
Put another way, start varying your configuration, and see which configuration changes (still) have the problem, and which don't. -
Hi. My iMac hard drive is running Mavericks. I have an old version of Quark Xpress (3.32) which won't run in Mavericks. Can I partition my hard drive and run an older system on one partition, so I can access my Quark? Is that possible?

QuarkXPress 3 is a Classic Mac OS application, so you need a version of OS X that still supports Classic. I believe 10.4 was the last one.
So if you have an iMac that boots with 10.4, then yes that is possible. I doubt though that newer Macs boot with OS X 10.4.
So why don't you upgrade QuarkXPress 3 to a newer version? I am not just asking that because I want you to spend money with us.
Typically using software that was released almost 20 years ago is just feasible when you keep an environment that was current at the time of release or a few years after, so an older Mac with a operating system present at that time. 20 years in IT is a lot.
So my opinion is that on a new Mac with a brand new operating system you need to use something a bit more current.
How about QuarkXPress 9 (released 3 years ago) or QuarkXPress 10? You are better off with v9, as QuarkXPress 10 only opens v7 and higher (whereas QuarkXPress 9 opens v3.1 and higher).
Or - I am even happy to make an exception - upgrade to 9 and we give you 10 for free? Let me know please.

How do i deinstall ios7 on my ipad? The new op system won't let me run Youtube, won't give me accesss to one of my gmail accounts, flickers when i do searches, and pretty much made my favorite device pretty much useless. Please don't tell me that apple is deliberately trying to get me to upgrade my old device just to generate revenue. That's why i switched from Microsoft products four years ago. Apple does not support ios downgrades. The same question was asked hundereds of times when ios 6 and every other new version came out.
Try this
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
If that doesn't work then backup and then restore the device as new first (to isolate cause of the issue). Then from backup if necessary.
Make sure iTunes is updated to the latest version

I have OVS 3.x.x and OVM 3.x.x running on the same physical server. I had some issues trying to configure storage via OVM and I issued a shutdown (I think) from the OVM Web Interface. Now I am unable to keep the server up and running. Everytime I turn on the server, after Oracle VM Manager starts, it shuts down the server automatically within a minute or two after startup.
I am able to login to the server via Putty and stop ovmm service manually. When Oracle VM Manager service is stopped, (SERVICE OVMM STOP) the server does not shutdown automatically. However as soon as I restart the OVMM service, it shuts down the server with message...

How do I find out what is causing OVM to issue the shutdown command and edit and fix via command line?Since your server was continually rebooting, do you remember if you issued a shutdown or reboot from OVM web interface? Mine was just shutting down. Have you tried to use the Oracle Virtual Manage Web Interface to either reboot or shutdown the server after your upgrade to 3.2.4? FYI I do not have support. This is my sandbox.

If you follow the steps very carefully and do as each says, this will solve your problem.. Now i am very happy i can actually install iTunes and use it for my iPod.
Remember to be carefully with the steps as the things you will be deleting are very important to your comp.
