"System is running low on memory" when exporting.

I'm using Premiere Pro CS3 (which, I'm aware has issues with system memory due to it being a 32bit program.)
It only seems to happen when I tie all my video segments together. It warns me to "save my project and proceed with caution," but as I export, it gets to 300 frames out of 12,000 and the entire program just crashes. All up they'd equal 2GB at the most with my export settings.
I've stopped any non-essential programs and applications, including my anti-virus out of desperation. (How clever)
I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
Intel Core i7 3.60GHz CPU
16.0GB DDR3 RAM
60GB SSD as my OS (with 4.7GB free)
And am saving them to a 1TB HDD with more than enough room free.
As I'm exporting, my CPU and RAM are running well below 30%
As far as memory is concerned there's plenty of it. But, is there a way to increase how much Premiere Pro uses, similar to hosting a Minecraft server?
Or perhaps just tricking it?

As you are using PrPro CS 3, though on a 64-bit OS, I would also look at the Windows Virtual Memory (Page File) settings.
What is the size set for the Page File?
Where is the Page File located on your system?
Do you let Windows dynamically manage the Page File, or have you manually set its size?
For video editing, I set my Page File fairly large, and remove the Windows dynamic Page File management. That has worked well for me, and many others.
Good luck, and I am sure that Jim Simon will Move your post to the CS 4 & Earlier Sub-forum.

    Never had this issue with previous version(s).
    Also, I had pretty silly GUI lag, which seems to have gone away by turning OFF GPU-acceleration...
    Why is this happening??
    Everything is running on an SSD.

  • "Bridge is running low on memory and should be restarted" error

    I am running Bridge CS4 on a DELL T-1650 with plenty of hard drive space.  I am having trouble with indexing / caching files.  My computer is connected to a large office server with a large amount of files that I need to be able to search.  I recieve a "Bridge is running low on memory and should be restarted" error each time I attempt to index the files on the server drive.  I have tried Purge and Cache, set the cache memory slider to max.  This is a very large amount of files (TB ) to index /cache.  I leave the computer running overnight to allow ample time, I nothing on my TB hard drive , and have 16GB of available RAM.  Any ideas?

    …My computer is connected to a large office server…
    Aha!  Working over a network is not supported by Adobe.
    This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
    If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406793.html
      Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
         Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
        Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
      If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
    When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

    Again, Julia, RAM is not drive "space" you can just "free up".
    You have given us no information whatsoever about your setup and the exact versions of the applications and the OS you are running.
    Depending on what you have, you may or may not be able to do anything other than add more memory (RAM) to your computer, if the machine can support more.
    For instance, I run Photoshop and Bridge very comfortably with just 2 GB of RAM, but—and that is a huge BUT—I'm running Photoshop 11.0.2 under Tiger (Mac OS 10.4.11), and I have permanently disabled the abominable, intrusive Spotblight and the Dashboard on my ancient G4 Power Mac (PPC) machine.  I even get away with occasionally running Illustrator or InDesign simultaneously as well.  On the other hand, many folks who are running the latest versions of Photoshop and Bridge (CS5) under Snow Leopard (a.k.a. Slow Leper) feel that 8 GB is pretty much the bare minimum to run them these days.
    Users who have 32 GB of RAM and more have no complaints.

  • What causes javax.jms.JMSException: Can't publish message: Server running low on memory?

    I'm trying to debug a problem with an application running under
              Weblogic 5.11p11, Solaris 2.7. JMS has a JDBC backing store.
              The application runs fine unless we keep it under severe high load for
              a relatively long period of time (say a couple of hours) without
              giving it time to "breath". Then, we start getting these JMS
              exceptions: javax.jms.JMSException: Can't publish message: Server
              running low on memory
              I initially thought this was a GC problem: i thought the GC thread
              wasn't able to "catch up" because the server utilization was high.
              However, when i display Runtime.freeMemory() at the point where i get
              this JMSException, i can see that there is about 16MB (out of 64MB
              totalMemory) of allocatable memory. So it isn't really running out
              of memory!
              I'd appreciate any insights, pointers, etc., about this problem.
              Thank you in advance.

    JMS 5.1 prevents new messages if the server as at 75% utilization. I think (not sure)
              that this can be turned off if desired, but I would not recommend doing so, as this feature prevents
              JMS messages from "hogging" all of the memory.

  • Bridge runs low on memory CS5

    Now I have a problem while working in photoshop and I open bridge if I open adjust and close a few raw images I get a message that says Bridge is running low on memory you should restart bridge.  I looked for a memory adjustment and can't find it.  Anyone know where it is?

    OK, what changed a week ago?  Did you add new hardware, add new software, updated any software, add any external devices?
    If it worked before and not now, and the answer to the above is no, then reset the preferences by holdling down the Ctrl key and starting Bridge.  You will get a reset window with 3 options.

    I am setting the memory min and max to -ms256m -mx256m.
    What does the error "Can't publish message: Server running low on memory."
    mean? Is it a serious lack of memory resources, or is it just a warning
    message that the server has hit its upper limit of the heap and it is about
    to do garbage collection or is in the midst of garbage collection?

  • I am running low on memory, 80% of memory is with iTunes...

    I am running low on memory, 80% of memory is with iTunes, how do I move my itunes library to an external HD and empty space to my mac? I have 1TB to my mac, a 1TB time capsule - which has a 2TB HD interfaced to it.
    I look into the files and see movies, music and itunes - all of these has my movies located in them (movies are 85%) of my itunes memory.  I am not sure what files to move to an external HD - if this is the right move to make...
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

    Yes you can move your iTunes Library to an External HD, however to be safe you should back up your iTunes Library Drive with another Drive.

  • How can I avoid running out of memory when creating components dynamically

    Hello everyone,
    Recently, I am planning to design a web application. It will be used by all middle school teachers in a region to make examination papers and it must contain the following main functions.
    1)Generate test questions dynamically. For instance, a teacher who logs on the web application will only see a select one menu and a Next Quiz button. The former is used for determining the number of options for the current multiple/single choice question. The later is dedicated to creating appropriate input text elements according to the selected option number. That is to say, if the teacher selects 4 in the menu and presses the Next Quiz button, 5 input text form elements will appear. The first one is for the question to be asked such as "1.What is the biggest planet in the solar system?", the others are optional answers like a)Uranus. b) Saturn. c)Jupiter. d)Earch. Each answer stands for an input text elements. When the teacher fills in the fourth answer, another select one menu and Next Quiz button will emerge on the fly just under this answer, allowing the teacher to make the second question. The same thing repeats for the following questions.
    2)Undo and Redo. Whenever a teacher wants to roll back or redo what he has done, just press the Undo or[i] Redo button. In the previous example, if the teacher selects the third answer and presses the Delete button to drop this answer, it will delete both the literal string content[i] and the input text element, changing the answer d to c automatically. After that, he decides to get back the original answer c, Jupiter, he can just click the Undo button as if he hadnft made the deleting operation.
    3)Save the unfinished working in the client side. If a teacher has done half of his work, he can choose to press the Save button to store what he has done in his computer. The reason for doing so is simply to alleviate the burden of the server. Although all finished test papers must be saved in a database on the server, sometimes the unfinished papers could be dropped forever or could form the ultimate testing papers after several months. So if these papers keep in the server, it will waste the server computerfs room. Next time the teacher can press the Restore button on the page to get the previously stored part of the test paper from his own computer and continue to finish the whole paper.
    4)Allow at least 1,000 teachers to make test papers at the same time. The maximum question number per examination paper is 60.
    Here are my two rough solutions,
    A.Using JSF.
    B.Using JavaScript and plain JSP[b] without JSF.
    The comparison of the two solutions:
    1)Both schemas can implement the first and the second requirements. In JSF page I could add a standard panelGird tag and use its binding attribute. In the backing bean, the method specified by the binding attribute is responsible for generating HtmlInput objects and adding them to the HtmlPanelGird object on the fly. Every HtmlInput object is corresponding to a question subject or an optional answer. The method is called by an actionListener, which is registered in the Next Quiz commandButton, triggering by the clicking on this button in the client side. Using JSF can also be prone to managing the HtmlInput objects, e.g. panelGird.getChildren().add(HtmlInput) and panelGird.getChildren().remove(HtmlInput) respond to the undoing operation of deleting an optional answer and the redoing operation of the deleting action respectively. I know JavaScript can also achieve these goals. It could be more complex since I donft know well about JavaScript.
    2)I can not find a way to meet the third demand right now. I am eager to know your suggestion.
    3)Using JSF, I think, canft allow 1,000 teachers to do their own papers at the same time. Because in this scenario, suppose each questionnaire having 60 questions and 4 answers per question, there will be approximately 300,000 HtmlInput objects (1,000X60X(4+1)) creating on the server side. The server must run out of memory undoubtedly. To make things better, we can use a custom component which can be rendered as a whole question including its all optional answers. That is to say, a new custom component on the server side stands for a whole question on the client side. Even so, about 60,000(1,000X60) this type of custom components will be created progressively and dynamically, plus other UISelectOne and UICommand objects, it also canft afford for most servers. Do I have to use JavaScript to avoid occupying the server's memory in this way? If so, I have to go back and use JavaScript and plain JSP without JSF.
    Thank you in advance!
    Best Regards, Ailsa
    2007/5/4

    Thank you for your quick response, BalusC. I really appreciate your answer.
    Yes, you are right. If I manually code the same amount of those components in the JSF pages instead of generating them dynamically, the server will still run out of memory. That is to say, JSF pages might not accommodate a great deal of concurrent visiting. If I upgrade the server to just allow 1,000 teachers making their own test papers at the same time, but when over 2,000 students take the same questionnaire simultaneously, the server will need another upgrading. So I have to do what you have told me, using JS+DOM instead of upgrading the server endlessly.

  • InDesign running low on memory

    Hi,
    I'm trying to develop a script that adds a number of AI-files to a new ID-document, saves the document and then exports the ID-document as PDF. Most of it seems to be working fine, but when I reach page 30-35(depending on which files I add), ID runs out of memory.
    It's using ~1,3 GB memory, which is quite a lot, so the error is understandable.
    What I don't understand is why it takes that much. At first I tried exporting the entire file at once (which gave me the above mentioned error and no output-file at all). I then added a "while-loop" that exported each page into it's own file (called 1.pdf, 2.pdf, 3.pdf etc.). Same result.
    I tried adding $.gc(); x 2 for every 10 page that gets exported, but that doesn't seem to change anything whatsoever. The code can be seen here (I removed the pdf-prefs, since they aren't relevant I think):
    "Counter" is a variable starting a 1, and "numberOfPages" is a variable containing the number of pages in the document. I'm at a bit of a loss here. Shouldn't InDesign release the memory, once it has exported each page?
        while(counter <= numberOfPages)
                if(counter == 10 || counter == 20 || counter == 30)
                    $.gc();
                    $.gc();
                with(app.pdfExportPreferences)
                   //set the pagerange to the current page (counter) - convert to string to set pageRange to accept input
                   myString = counter + "";
                   pageRange = myString;
                  lots of other pdf preferences goes here - deleted for readability
             try
                 myDocument.exportFile(ExportFormat.pdfType, File(myFolder +"/" + counter +".pdf"),  false, myPDFExportPreset);
             catch(e)
                 alert(e);
             counter = counter + 1;
    Let me know if you need further info.
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

    You're probably correct. The files do tend to get quite heavy. But I was expecting Indesign to be able to release the memory after exporting a single page. Alas, it doesn't do that. I could also delete the page, but we would like to save the .indd-file as well
    But I tried, just for the fun of it, to close the document and open it again after every 10 pages - and et voilá. It worked! It's not beautiful and I'm not gonna win any awards for it, but for now it'll have to do

  • Always running low on memory

    Hi,
    I have 13" Macbook pro - mid 2010.
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Nvidia GeForce 320M 256 MB
    running 10.8.2 (12C60)
    Apps which I typically have open  at the same time are:
    iPhoto 11  - version 9.4.1  (701.67)     (apx. 50 GB library)
    iTunes 10 - version 10.7 (21)               (apx. 30 GB library)
    Chrome    - 22.0.1229.94
    My computer is constatnly running low on RAM.   After 1 day after reboot, it is very typcal that activity monitor will show only 10-100 MB "Free".  "Inactive" memory is typically around 1.5 - 2 GB.
    Activity monitor always shows as iPhoto as biggest culprit. taking up over 1 GB of RAM.
    The thing is that I NEVER had _any_ issues before upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard.   My MBP was always snappy and very fast.
    But now, my MBP is starting to become un-useable.   I basically can't run iPhoto without bogging down my system.  I livie in beach-ball city.   I didn't know what beach ball was before Lion.
    I tried running disk-check and verify disk to see if something else was causing my MBP to be slow, but there were no problems.
    Recently, I moved my iPhoto to external hard drive connected via firewire.    same problems.
    I don't know even if it is worth it to upgrade RAM....maybe I'll end up with same problem.
    I've read enough forum threads on "MAC memory problems" "MAC inactive memory" "iPhoto memory leaks" etc, that I really am not expecting a miracle answer.
    Just some advice/guidance suggestions would be appreciated.
    Lastly. My brother bought a new iMAC in 2011.  don't know all the specs but it was lower range one with 4 GB RAM.    He has ZERO problems with memory on his machine.
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Etresoft,
    Thanks for your suggestions.  Really appreciate your time on this.
    I have to say, that I could not resist. I did upgrade to 8 GB today.  Paid only $36 CAD.  I couldn't resist.
    However, I am conviced more than ever, that "something else" is going on with my system.
    After installing 8 GB (2x4GB)  I started up Aperature 3.  5 minutes later, my sytem was showing < 1 GB RAM available.
    Regarding your comments from above - I used this laptop for work for a whiile, hence VBox and Wireshark and some extra plugins.

  • Low cpu usage when exporting

    Is it normal to have only 4-12% of cpu usage when exporting video out of ae? I´m exporting it from render queue.
    My computer is 2x dual 3,0 ghz prosessor, 8 gb ram, nvidia 8600 gt in xp professional x64
    thanks

    As Jonas suggested, CPU utilization may be somewhat low because the bottleneck isn't the processing of the data but moving (reading and writing) it.
    I'm not saying that this is necessarily what's going on for you, but it's worth pointing out that the CPU is often not the bottleneck.
    If disk I/O is what's slowing you down, one way that you can speed things up is to use three disks for your work: one to run the program from, one to store input assets, and one to write output files to.

  • System out of memory when exporting/migrating Solution Manager

    Dear all,
    since we decided to migrate our Solution Manager (win2003/sql server 2005) system to a more appropriate server, we started an export using the NW70sr2 installation master CD, the one we used to install this solution manager instance.
    Everything went ok up to the Java export phase, here we caught an out of memory issue, here's the relevant part of the sapinst.dev.log file:

    Actually we used a workaroud to complete the phase, ie we menually re-issued the command and changed the heap value from -Xmx512m to -Xmx1024m
    Is there a way to defalut the sapinst to pass to the java export command an higher java heap value, ie -Xmx1024m ?
    Thanks in advance and cheers.
    Franco.

    It sounds like you may have a corrupt render file in your 7th episode.  You can set in and out points in 5 minute increments and export those segments to narrow down which clip is the offending clip. Then re-render the offending clip.
    I hope this helps.
