System keychain appears twice in Keychain Access

Taking a rare look at Keychain Access app and notced that the System keychain appears twice consecutively. Is this usual? I'm loath to try deleting anything as they're identical and afraid that trashing one will do them both. Any advice?

I wouldn't worry about it, I have a couple of Macs like that that I attribute to using Migration Assistant, (not sure), but have no problems with them in any way, shape, form or manner!

Login keychain keeps disappearing from Keychain Access Utility

I'm running OSX 10.8.3 on a mid 2009 MacBook Pro, and having several problems with passwords and perhaps permissions.
There are two users on this computer, one for me and one for my wife. Mine was set up long before hers, but she uses it more because I use a newer Mac now.
On her account, everything seems to function normally. It's my account that is causing problems.
For example, mail can't remember my passwords. I have gmail (and others) configured in Mail, and when I go to check the account settings, everything is right except the password space is blank. When I start mail, it prompts for the passwords for each of the mail accounts, I enter it, and it prompts again, endlessly.
Also, I can't log in to iCloud from that computer, although I can login from my browser on the same Pro, and from my iPhone and from my MacAirbook using the same account and password. (This may or may not be related - I don't know.)
When I open KeyChain Access, the upper left panel shows only two Keychains - System and System Roots.
I tried File/Add Keychain and pointed to the login.keychain in home/library/keychains. The login keychain shows up in the upper left panel, and the passwords for all my previously added logins all show up when I click on the login keychain in the upper left panel and then click on the passwords category in the lower left panel of Keychain Access.
But when I quit keychain access and restart it, or when I restart the computer and go back to keychain access, the login keychain has again disappeared again.
I have tried keychain "verify" and "repair" but verify says everything is OK, no problems, and so repair doesn't fix anything. It checks the login.keychain and says there are no problems.
Any suggestions?

OK, I spoke too soon. It's ALMOST fixed, but there's still one niggling litte problem.
When I start up my computer, it first asks me to log in (as it should).
Then, after it begins to load everything, the following message pops up.
"Mac OS wants to use the "myname logins" keychain. Please enter the keychain password"
I enter it and that's the end of the problem until the next time I start up the computer. This is a huge improvement to what it was previously doing, but I'd like to fix that, too.
I am wondering if it's related to a problem with the configuration of my login keychains.
When I open KeyChain Access, it shows 2 login keychains, one called "login" and the other "myname logins" (I added the second one to solve the problem at the beginning of this topic - April 22 above).
The one OS X asks for is myname logins.
Myname logins contains passwords for my LAN, but nothing for the airport itself.
The "Login" keychain contains passwords for my airport/time capsule. But there are 8 different entries for it, 4 of them with the same "Date modified" and 4 more with a second "Date modified".
This login keychain also contains many obsolete entries for ISPs I no longer use, and for routers I used once or twice in clients' offices several years ago.
So, 5 questions.
Can I remove all these obsolete keychain items?
Can I remove some of the duplicate items?
Should I consolidate these to one keychain or should I leave them separate?
If I should consolidate them, how do I do it?
Will consolidating them solve my problem with OS X asking for my keychain login password when my configuration is loading?

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the page that opens.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.

I set up Keychain and do not have access to the telephone I gave. Now I can no longer connect my ipad to my windows computer. I can not turn off Keychain...it is awaiting authorization from the SMS on the telephone I do not have access to.

Have reset the ipad, but that changed nothing. I can not turn off Keychain, iit remains "pending approval". Probably, the only thing to do is to close my icloud account...which I hate to do since there is a lot of data saved there. But, I am unable to back the ipad up on my Windows 8 computer because itunes no longer opens when the ipad is attached.
Oh well...computers are computers and it is impossible to cover 100% of the situations.

What is the best practice with Keychain re: number of keychains?

I'm not clear on what is the best way for using keychains. I have two that appear to overlap with similar entries (e.g., passwords for various websites and applications). One of the keychains is named login and other is named with my full name (first name and surname). There are two keychains that have blank boxes in front of them as opposed to the lock icon. One of those has the same name as my account name and the other is named X509Certificates.
Is there a best practice that recommends either consolidating keychains or, if multiple keychains are better, than what type of information should be kept in what keychain? I find that I have to enter passwords for a number of apps when I boot up instead of the passwords being automatically retrieved. I would hope that setting up the keychains correctly will address this problem.

You don't need to worry about setting it up properly, OSX will do this for you. The only reason I ever use Keychain Access is if I forget a password or want to delete one. Moving files around in keychain access could lead you to some serious problems. If I was you I would just leave the files be and OSX take care of the rest.

Keychain Assistant: A possible Keychain Lockup?

After some time of using Keychains, Certificates and relevant materials, I have come across a problem, which only just struck me. I tried to fix it myself, before I posted, and will continue to do so. A search through the internet did not resolve anything, so far.
The issue: I cannot unlock my Keychain anymore. Why, is unknown. I discovered this by trying to send an e-mail, using a profile I have used frequently.
My attempts: I tried to create a different Keychain a few times over (using the same and different names alike) and a scan through my Keychain First Aid did not resolve anything, either.
Keychain First Aid report: (the problem resides in ManthaDesigns.keychain)

Checked keychain search list

Background profile: I use my System Administrator User profile (root) for management and arrangement of Keychains and Certificates, which are then distributed in my industrial appliances (User profiles, other computers' User profiles, pass cards, keys, etc.) via various ways.
Is it necessary to contact Apple Support for this issue, or can it be resolved using any other methods? I will be needing the Keychain by dawn, as our industry will then open again.

The issue has only been partially solved, but they are two different problems, related to the same issue. For those who did not see the other thread, I quote:

As I read the links in your reply, I note:
#1: This document did not resolve anything, the Certificates are not added to the list.
#2: This document provided me with every bit of information I already know about the Keychain Access application and its works.
#3: This document was rather interesting, though we do not use Secure Notes. It is logical that the identifier does not update, as this is meant to be an easily trackable identifier for that Note. Though, when adding Notes, one would think the identifier and name are separate fields.
#4: This document is rather illogical, as the author might not be aware of shared Keychains, which are easily exported between computers and shared among users of that computer. We share a single Keychain over our network, within our company and have not had any sharing issues, so far.
#5: This document covers the steps it takes to set up an SSL Server over HTTPS as is done by us for each individual computer already. Although, it should be noted that in Snow Leopard, this requires a bit more work, as you need to define the DNS or IP address (we do both, sine our computers have fixed IP addresses).
#6: I do not see any use to this document, as it features development using Objective-C. We do not create our own Certificate Software, but rather resort to Apple's Defaults.
As a means of helping you out with further understandings:
I create Certificates using the Certificate Assistant, filling in every field. I override defaults and set the country and other information to the appropriate one, as our business is located in Belgium, Europe, not the U.S.A.

This problem has been reported serveral times. It seems to be a loss of access to the main system font. I've not heard of any cure except a reinstall.
It appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

Time Capsule appears twice in Airport drop down menu

Menu Bar > Airport drop-down menu: My Time Capsule's wireless name shows up twice in my list of wifi sources. Once in the group with all the other routers and again in a group called "Devices".
Long story short…
I start with a perfectly functional, WPA/WPA2 password-protected Time Capsule: Over a year old. Two MbP's using it for Time Machine backup. Connected to a 1.5TB MyBook external HD via usb. Doubles as my wifi router. Everything's connected to it, including my wifi-enabled printer. Works great. No issues.
I get this idea in my head that I need to hide my wifi signal. I figure it out and ¡Viola! Hidden. Then I try to add my wifi-enabled printer to the list of allowed devices in "Access Control". I hit a big snag and can't figure out how to get it to connect (btw, don't buy a Brother printer. Pure crap). So, I give up and revert permissions back to visible, password-protected state.
Skipping irrelevant issues that I already resolved, I now have the wireless name of my Time Capsule appearing twice in the airport drop down menu. It appears with all the other wifi sources my machine detects AND appears at the bottom under a new category called "Devices".
All I want is to have things back the way they were and this anomaly in the drop down menu is a constant reminder that I #1 failed and #2 bought a crap printer.
(Long story long, I guess. Sorry.) How do I delete this "Devices" group from the airport drop down menu?

I rebootedholding the shift key.
I have checked the Finder / Preferences / General is selected to show the hard drives, also in Finder / Preferences / Sidebar is selected.
I have opened the Disk Utility application and if you see the system disk, I have told you to check and tells me that the disk has no problems.
Otherwise the iMac works perfectly, but Safari, which is all I have used since the problem besides Disk Utility sometimes gets stuck, and has trouble reconnecting.

OutputLabes, values in selectOneChoice are appearing twice in the jspx page

Hi All,
In a Jspx Page, there are two menu tabs. Each Tab has a PanelForm and each panelform has certain components.
By default the first panelform in the first tab will be shown on page load and while clicking on second tab, the second panelform will be shown.
The first panelform has three selectonechoices and three command buttons.
If i click on reset button, these 3 selectonechoices are set to null by backing bean.
Here comes the problem, after clicking on reset, if you click on second tab where the second panel form available, certain components like outputLabel and the values in selectOnechoice, are appearing twice on the page.
Can anyone suggest me how to get rid of this problem..

Thanks a lot for your reply, but i am using JDev 10.1.3.3. There is no panelFormLayout component and i am not using that component.
Even i am strange this duplicating of components and values in selectoneChoice occuring from past 2 days in the old file. I am wondering whether my file got corrupted by any sort.

Network User appearing twice in connection tab under file sharing

I have one of my network users that appears twice under the connected Users tab in the File Sharing service (Lion Server).
It only appears to be happening with one of the users. When they log in they get shown twice with the same IP address although they can have different idle time.
I can not seem to work out what is going on.
Any thoughts/suggestions would be welcome.

After a little bit of mucking around I have discovered the duplicate user appears when I mount a network volume (which is also a share) during login using a "mount drive" script. I can disconnect the duplicate user which unmounts the network volume.
Same thing happens when I connect to the server machine through the SHARED listing in Finder as it is set up to use my network account to connect. ONce again I can disconnect which simply umounts the shared access.

the following is the sequence of steps to reproduce this.

Disk appears twice in Project and Event window

There seems to be a bug in iMovie that causes the default disk to appear twice in the project and event viewer if you have a symbolic link in the path.
For years I have used a symlink to allow me to locate my Users area onto a second drive. This keeps all my user data separate from the more generic system data. Occasionally an application gets confused by this link and this seems to be the case with iMovie.
I think what is happening is that iMovie is trying to list my home directory which by default is usually on Macintosh HD/Users/louie but when it hits the symlink at /Users -> /Volumes/DataDisk/Users it sees this is actually on drive DataDisk. Then I think it looks for all mounted volumes and it finds DataDisk again and doesn't realize that this is already recorded and includes it again.
Other than this odity it seems to work just fine. If I add a project or event, initially it appears in only one of the DataDisk entries in iMovie. Then if I restart iMovie the new project and/or event will show under both entries. The actual project and events are correcty created in my ~/Movies directory.

I don't know an easy way to fix that if you are using a symlink.
Click on this link for some good information about how to set up your home folder in a different location. You can set it up on OSX where you will not need a symlink. On the other hand, if its working well for you, may be best to leave it alone.

ICloud Account appears twice in Calendar & Notes

A few of my iCloud Accounts appears twice in Calendar & Notes but when I go to system preferences I see them only once.
So, in both applications I see all duplicated — I can deselect a calendar in iCal but it's more annoying in Notes where you can't click what you want to see.
When I want to go and delete the duplicate account from the main preferences I only see each account once.
Crazy, huh?

On the iCloud website I see everything alright, one of each, no duplicates.
On my Mac:
- Notes, no notes at all...
- iCal: no duplicates, but I see a few calendars twice. When I click Preferences - Accounts, I see no duplicate accounts!
- Address Book is a mess, some contacts appear like seven times, I looked for duplicates and merge them many times.
