System Landscape Optimization (SLO) and BW

Could anyone point me in the direction of any material related to SLO for BW? I am involved in a project that  will potentially  consolidate some company codes on R/3 and we will be using SLO for the consolidation. I understand that SLO programs can be used for BW as well as R/3.
Any info would be appreciated for general SLO info and SLO documents related specifically to BW. Cheers.

Unfortunately not.
But I can give you 4 key questions you should ask yourself:
1. what is the impact on master data
2. what will happen when we do a reload after the SLO-changes
3. Has historic data to be changed according to the SLO-changes.
4. will the changes be extracted by the delta queue?  If not, can we do repair loads.
So as you can see: the problems are mainly master data, old data and deltas.

  • SOLMAN 4.0 SR2 connect to SAP R/3 Three System landscape (DEV QA and PRD)

    Hi,
We have successfully installed SOLMAN 4.0 SR2 (ABAP + JAVA) on
    WIN2003 SP2 EE MSSQL 2005 EE SP1.
I just want to activate the service so that SOLMAN could see my existing SAP R/3 4.6 C Three system landscape (DEV QAS PRD).
I heard settings should be done on SPRO IMG configs. Could anyone tell me the exact procedure to navigate on it. I see a lot of buttons to config and execute, Just want to make sure everything will be in order.
My SLD is directly installed locally on my SOLMAN server.
    Thanks,
    Simoun

    Hello Simoun,
Telling from your last sentence I assume that you would like to connect SolMan (transaction SMSY) to your locally installed SLD or in other words: replicate SLD system data into SOLMAN system landscape SMSY.
    Please check this document:
    http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000538663&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_OBJECT=011000358700000530282007E
Here you find information covering prerequisites, required SAP Solution Manager IMG configuration to connect SLD and SMSY and frequently ask questions (FAQ-like).
I hope this helps you to get started.

  • Creation of System Landscape though SMSY and RFC connection

    Hi all,
I've finished install the solution manager 4.0 with Oracle 10g running on Windows Server 2003.
i would like to know after i create the RFC connection using SM59 to my TST system which will be the system that i'd plan to monitor. The authorization test seem to be failed but others connection like connection test and remote logon seem to working fine. Please kindly advise which sort of user i need to give. I receive the message "Error Details-You are not authorized to logon to the target system (error code 1)."
And at the SMSY, i cant even see the TST system. And i don know where we should create the TST system. And i wuold like to know where i can make changes to the Technical data tab for my solution manager ipaddress, beacase it has tied up to the Microsoft loopback connection.
    Please kindly assist.Thank you.
    Kah Fei

    Go to transaction SMSY
Here, towards the left hand side you will see menu with tabs of 1. Landscape Components
            2. System and Logical Components
            3. Product Definitions
            4. Overview
    Select the second tab.
It will show list of all SAP Products available, if you are linking an SAP R/3 system to Solution Manager, then select the SAP R/3 from the list. And if you have already created the server and its details, they wil appear in the list here.
    Try this out.

  • System Landscape Directory, WHY and HOW

    Hello Forum,
I have few Doubts with reference to SLD.
    1. I am not sure why it is required.
    2. I have installed Netweaver Sneek Preview - JAVA version, I have R/3 4.6 system , and I have another Installation which has BW3.5, EP 6, J2EE . How configure SLD among these ????
I want to keep Netweaver Sneek Preview as the main server for SLD.
    Thanks
    Ravish

    Hello Gregor
I figured out little and got SLD working for 2 things. But 3rd one, I am getting RFC error as below , while configuring.
Before that I would like to give details about landscape.
    1. I have installed NetWeaver Sneak Preview - JAVA Version on Windows 2000. This I want to make as SLD Server.
I did data transfer using Visual Administration tool on this and Web AS Java, details available when I check the Technical System Browser for this.
I also established the bridge to R/3 4.6C by providing Hostname , sapgw00 - And this server details are also available in the SLD page under Web AS ABAP.
    2. I have R/3 4.6C installed on Unix box
On this , I went to RZ70 and configured, these details are available on SLD page under Web AS ABAP ( previous point)
    3. Now, I have 3rd system installed on UNIX box - details are NetWeaver ( BW 3.5 , J2EE , EP 6.0) . I am trying to do the same steps as done to R/3 4.6c in RZ70 but getting RFC Error as below.
    Collection of SLD data finished
    Data collected successfully
    RFC data prepared
    Used RFC destination: SLD_NUC
RFC call failed: Error opening an RFC connection.
Existing periodic jobs removed. Number: 1
    Program scheduled: 20050917 015300
Event-controlled job already exists; scheduling not necessary.
What need to be done ?????
    Thanks

  • Converting a two system landscape to three system landscape

Currently, I have a two system landscape: DEV (development)  and PRD (production) in STMS
I would like to add a QAS system so I will end up with DEV-QAS-PRD in STMS
I would like to keep all data the way it is. I don't want to lose any logs or files in the data and cofiles directories.
This is how I have this planned:
-Include the QAS system in the existing Tranport Domain.(stms in QAS)
-In transaction STMS go to OVERVIEW -> Transport Routes -> Standard Configuration -> Three systems in group
and then save the configuration.(stms on the TDC)
I'm thinking this will preserrve the current log files and the corresponding data and cofile files.
If you have done this, I would appreciate any comment or advise.
    Thanks.

Addition to above suggestion - Adding new system to existing landscape doesn't make any change to the data/cofiles. Process just adds additional system.

    Nick Loy

  • How to design a demo system landscape

    Hello,
I need to build up a system landscape for demos and would like to ask if there are any best practices. I need a portal and would like the ESS/MSS-scenario with an IDES system. But using the IDES system everytime I need it I have to build up the data for the current time period. Is there any possiblity in IDES (or IDES successors, if there is one) to generate data for current time periods?
How are you handling the data of your demo systems?
    Thanks a lot,
      Vanessa

    Hello,
Read about IDES release strategy and found this:
A New version of IDES is available with every correction release. It is not possible to upgrade an existing IDES version to a new release. You can, however, install service packages for the corresponding correction release. This means that every new IDES Release involves a new installation. The IDES Release Strategy ensures that you always get new master data, transaction data, customizing functions, and documentation that are tested and checked for quality.
Seems installing the new release of IDES will be the most probable solution.

  • Datasources in a 3 system landscape and transformations

    Hello,
I am working on a 3 system landscape on Netweaver 2004s. As I know, for every sourcesystem,
there is produced a different datasource. When I want to Test a transformation
between a datasource and a datatarget in the develpment system, quality system
and productiv system, does this mean that I have to implement a transformation for
    each of these three systems?
    Thank you.
    Regards, Lars.

    Hi,
that you test your object in every system ist clear. The problem I have is, that
I don't want to implement the same transformation 3 times.
So if I understand your answers, I always have to implement 3 transformations
that have as source a datasource:
    1. The first transformation references the datasource in the development system.
    2. The second transformation references the datasource in the quality system.
    3. The third transformation references the datasource in the producitv system.
The only alternativ I see ist to transport first the datasource from the development system
into the quality system and the producitv system and than reference in the
transformation only the datasource in the productiv system. In this case I need
only one transformation. Is this right?
    Thanks.
    Regards, Lars.

  • 3 system and 4 system landscape - Charm

    Dear All,
We have 3 system landsacpe for ECC and 4 System Landscape for BI?
Is it possible to configure CHaRM for these landscape?
If yes, please give me step by step guidelines.
    How to create Maintenance Cycle?
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
This is possible. The three system landscape is the usual scenario. In four system landscap, you just need to add a pre-production system in your landscape.
Go to the Wiki http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SM/Weblogs%20related%20to%20Solution%20Manager and search for Change Request Management. There are some 10 docs available there. Specifically have a look on
First steps to work with Change Request Management scenario
    /people/dolores.correa/blog/2008/07/26/first-steps-to-work-with-change-request-management-scenario
Call service.sap.com/rkt-solman. You can find the materials for project prepration, corrections etc.
Call SPRO in your solman system and go through the documentation provided there.
This will give you adequate information for configuring ChaRM.

  • System Landscape and system alias

    Dear All EP Expert,
    I have some general questions.
    1) If i wanted to connect my EP 7.0 to backend ECC 6. Is there any specific name that i must use for my system landscape and system alias?
    2) Is the system lanscape come in when i include the business package?
    3) Where can i download the latest ESS and MSS business package?
Can someone assist me on this?
    Thanks you in advance...
    Regards,
    Bryan

    Hi Brian ,
you cal also download latest ESS and MSS business packages from -->
download the business package from service market place.
Navigate through Downloads --> SAP Support Package --> Entry by Application group --> SAP Application Components --> SAP ERP --> SAP ERP2005 -->Entry Point by component -->SAP XSS Self - Service --> SAP ESS 600.
and similar for MSS 600 business package.
You cal also refer to this Note for further details about Self Services Business Packages.
    [Note 1004528|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1004528]
    Hope this helps.
And Regarding System Alias names, there is no such specific name you should keep, as no standard name exists , read more about it on.
    [system aliases|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/e9/9bc93f92908032e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm]
    Also,
    System Aliases and SAP Systems
For SAP systems (BW, CRM, and so on), it is recommended to use a system alias that has as its name parameter the logical system name as defined in the SAP system itself. The logical system is specified in Table T000 in the SAP system.

  • System Landscape and System Group

    Hi
I am trying to find out the difference between adding a system to a System Group and Adding a system to a System Group in System Landscape Directory.
I know that adding to a system group has effect on the transport routes while transporting. However not sure how adding a system to a landscape would impact.
    Thanks in advance..

    HI,
In one sentence,  system landscape contains all the SAP Systems that you have installed. It contains several system groups.

  • Transport target group and routes setting for 2 system landscape

    Hi!
I have 2 system landscape (DEV with 2 Clients, 100 CUST and 200 TEST and PRD with productvie client 100).
Currently I have the standard TMS configuration for 2 systems (with tranport layers/routes ZDEV and SAP) .
Now I  have to set up my TMS settings client specific
(Development in DEV 100 and transport to the DE 200 TEST and PRD 100).
I have created tranport target group /B-DEV/ with both target goals:
    DEV 200 and PRD 100.
<b>What are the further settings for transport routes?
I assume, I have to delete the existing routes ZDEV and SAP?
what are the next steps? </b>
    Thank you very much
    regards

Ok, I have in DEV system:
    Client 100 (Customizing)
Client 200 (Test) (it can be considered as replacement of QAS-system, because we only have 2 systems)
    PRD system
    Client 100 (Productive client)
So we would like to set up the transport management system client specific, in order to develop in DEV 100 to test in DEV 200 and to use the transports in PRD 100.
Thank you very for your help

  • Managing Consumer Proxies and related configuration in the System Landscape

    Hi,
I have successfully created and tested the Consumer proxy in our development server.
Scenario background: A Java Web Service has been developed and deployed on the Portal server which i am consuming in ECC6.0 in ABAP.
We would soon need to move it through the system landscape concerning which i have the following queries:
    1. The Consumer Proxy was created with the WSDL URL of the Development Portal server. I checked the Consumer proxy and did not find any signature of the WSDL URL in the Consumer proxy object generated. Can we therefore transport this consumer proxy to QA/Production without any issues?
    2. The Logical port configuration - What's the standard used in its maintenance across the landscape? Will we need to manually do it in every system? Can this also be made generic and transported across the landscape?
    regards
    Nitesh

    Hi,
Logical port you can create in two ways.
One using LPCONFIG and other is using the SOAMANAGEr.
When you create a logical port using LPCONFIG you get the Customizing transport request which is client dependent. you can move this to any land scape. Only the thing we need to do change in the port is just accessing URL.
But the latest transaction SOAMANAGER does't give any transport number. I guess there should be a way for this too. If not then there is only one choice left is configure on each client.
    Thanks,
    Kishore.

  • Cannot create Portal System and Alias in System Landscape in Portal

    hallo all,
i want to install vc, therefore i need to create an Portal System and Alias.
this i should do in system landscape in the portal
(System Admin -> System config -> System landscape )!
but when i open it, it is loading and loading and nothing happens!
can someone tell me, what problem that could be?
ep 7.0 is installed and i want to connect to ERP 2005 ECC 6.0.
    regards Vartan

    Vartan,
The VC needs a portal in order to run - it needs to borrow the core portal and J2EE functionaliy as the VC components only bring in VC specific applications.
One question to ask, based upon personal experience, is what browser are you using here please? For instance, I've hit this issue when working from Firefox (1.5 or 2.0) but not when I'm running the same link in IE 6.0.
Just a thought. Let me know how you do.
    Cheers,
    Tim

  • Project landscape and system landscape

    hi all
what is thifference between system landscape and project landscape??
    anil

    Hi Anil,
    System landscape:
They system landscape basically is the set-up or arrangement of your SAP servers. Ideally, in an SAP environment, a three-system landscape exists. A three-system landscape consists of the Development Server-DEV, Quality Assurance Server-QAS and the Production Server-PROD. This kind of set-up is not primarily designed to serve as server clusters in case of system failure, the objective to enhance "configuration pipeline management".
    A Typical SAP Three-System Landscape.
At this juncture, it is important to state that a test system - Sandbox can also exit separately. The essence of the sandbox is to test the configuration of the business processes of a company, especially at the inception of the project (before the Business Blue Print is signed). It can also serve as a practice environment, even after go-live.
Pipeline is the environment where the configuration in the development system is moved to the quality assurance system and finally to the production system. The whole idea is to ensure that the configuration of these systems is in sync at any point in time. Suffice to say that, configuration/changes are first made in the Development system, thoroughly tested in the Quality Assurance system before been loaded into the production (Live) system.
This approach throws up the transport management system concept. Transport management system is the coordination of the movement of objects and configuration changes from the development system to the Quality Assurance system and then to the Production system. At times, this sequence of movement is not possible, especially in cases where an SAP note mandates that changes be made directly on the production system.
In such rare cases, objectively confirm that the change transport cannot be performed. Very likely, your system must have been configured to "not modifiable" (a system locking strategy that enforces the three-system landscape change transport rule); unlock the system by changing the global setting option to "modifiable" using transaction SE03. After you have done that, effect the change(s) on the system. Immediately lock the system back by changing the global setting option to "not modifiable" using transaction SE03. Replicate the changes on the other system. Note that transaction SCC4 can also be used to lock the system so that client dependent and independent configuration changes are not carried out directly on the production system.
By and large, the SAP system landscape ensures that the integrity of data is enhanced via enforcing a controlled configuration changes effect on the target system - production.
    Project landscape:
It's about the kind of soultion customer would be implementation in his project. Like CRM, SCM, ERP.
    Reward points if it helpful.
    Thanks & Regards
