System landscape planning on system i

Hi,
We have V5R4 latest AS/400 Model with 2  LPARS(Logical Partitions). Each LPAR consists 2 TB storage and 30GB RAM.
a) LPAR1 - 2TB Storage ( SB,TA,DEV,QAS) :
b) LPAR2- 2 TB Storage for Production (PRD) + HA- High Availability
Our initial plan is All Solution Manager Instances B,TA,DEV,QAS), ECC6.0 Instances
(SB,TA,DEV,QAS), Net Weaver 2004s instances (SB,TA,DEV,QAS) install on LPAR1.
Each LPARS consists 3 iASPs(Auxilarlly  Storage Pool).
ASP1- SYSBASE stores all Instances(Solution Manager,ECC6.0,Netweaver 2004s)  Files Systems like /usr/sap/SID-SB,TA,DEV,QAS.
ASP2- Journals : Stores all instances(Solution Manager,ECC6.0,Netweaver 2004s) recent databse changes.
ASP3 - Libraries storesStores all instances(Solution Manager,ECC 6.0,Net weaver2004s)Database informations
But We are planning to implement 2 iASPs in LPAR1 ( DEV/TR/QA )
a) ASP1 - Sysbase + journals
b) ASP2 - Database
what approach would be best  for our SAP system landscape environment.
Thanks

Not quite, Nesimi
The planning guide is clear: For each data supplier, you need a dedicated user in the central SLD.
What I do not understand is why. Why can't I get away with using the SLDDSUSER of the central SLD for all data suppliers? What difference does it make if I have a dedicated user for each data supplier in the central SLD?
I have 10 systems to send data to my central SLD and I want to avoid creating 10 different users, if it can be avoided

  • Landscape planning with BI and APO

    Hello all,
This is more of planning question rather than issue.
If you have upgraded your R/3 system first to Unicode before the BI and APO/SCM - how did you manage the interface testing within BI and APO, especially on how to avoid impact on existing work on BI/APO.
    - DId you have to create a separate new landscape?
    - Did you simply copy infocubes in the existing BI side?
    - Did you also apply 'freeze' development work on both BI and APO?
    Thanks,
    Terry

  • Landscape Design Plans

    Hi
I'm looking for help to create plans for a landscape design and I would like it to be vector-based if possible.
I have outlines of trees as shown below (ArchiCAD) but I'm not sure of the technique to make the grass look how it does and how to make the trees look that way (apart from drop shadow)
The site I'm creating a landscape plan for is around 60% grassland, so I want to use the same effect on the first image to represent grass (rather than a solid colour). The next biggest element of the site is trees, around 20% in various sizes, so I want to re-create the trees as shown in the first image. I have Vector outlines for the trees (From ArchiCAD) but I need to apply some sort of style to achieve the effect as shown above.. The other main part of the landscape is limestone pathways, which are very 'rough' i.e merge into the grass, like on the second image.
What I'm asking is techniques in Illustrator to basically re-create the first image, and add some limestone pathways... I can't really give you a plan because it's basically just grass and a few trees... I have to plan the landscape for a project.
The overall 'theme' for the plan is 'sketchy' If that helps
    Thank You

For the edges of the grassy fills, you can apply a solid green fill, apply an Inner Glow Effect to the fill to get the vignette. To get the stipple and/or grain, combine this with another raster effect, like Spatter or Grain.
You do not need a high Document Raster Effects Resolution setting for this kind of thing, even if it's intended for commercial print. Screen res or 150 PPI is a gracious plenty. When you hit upon a combination you like, store it as a Graphic Style so it can be applied to other objects with a click.
For your trees, draw three or four variations. Store each one as a Symbol. Place Instances of the Symbols whereever you want on the drawing. Use Transform Each to randomly alter their scale/rotation without disturbing their positions. You can paint an entire forest this way in minutes, and it's also a data-economical way to build the file.

  • Transport landscape best practise

I'm wondering if SAP has a best practise document on transport landscape planning.
SAP Help has pretty clear description about a standard 3 system landscape. But not document is found describing complext transport landscape considerations --- multiple ABAP development/test systems, conflict resolution between project landscape and maintenance landscape.
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

  • Altering photos....eg.landscaping designing and the like...

How does one take a dig photo and alter it? ... in other words, ...is there anyone out there that has had experience with landscape design using an iMac (and some sort of purchaseable program) and actually design a landscape?
...i want to do some major changes around my house and my wife just doesn't get what i am wanting to do.... if i have an altered photo and actually show my wife then she will understand my proposals.....

I heartily second PhillyPhan's recomendation. You can do some very advanced editing with PSE. Amazon.com often has deals on PSE for about $80. Or, if you're in the market for a new scanner, Canon bundles PSE 4 for Mac with many of it's scanners, even some of the lower prices models.
If you're looking to do some landscape planning OmniGraffle has templates for laying out areas and adding different plant icons for planning purposes. It came with my G5.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • HANA Installation Certification - E_HANAINS142 or E_HANAINS141

    Hello ,
Anyone cleared HANA Installation Certification ? Can anybody share his/her experience in preparing this examination with sample questions
    Thanks and Regards,
    Hemant Kumar

    Hello Hemant, Amerjit
I understand your anxiety with E_HANAINS141/142. If you have cleared C_HANATEC141 you are eligible to pursue E_HANAINS141. Please check with SAP for the availability of E_HANAINS141 seats. As E_HANAINS142 is released, I would advise not to delay E_HANAINS141 certification.
Two months preparation is a good time to appear E_HANAINS141 -SAP Certified Technology Specialist: SAP HANA Installation. I cleared my certification of E_HANAINS141 in March. The materials linked to the article by Denys are very helpful. And yes, SAP Academy videos are useful for understanding the practical approach to passing the certification.
What I have not refered to is HA100 or HA200, instead I kept my faith in the references in the below article by Denys:
SAP Certified Technology Specialist: SAP HANA Installation - by the SAP HANA Academyhttp://scn.sap.com/community/hana-in-memory/blog/2014/06/30/ehanains131#comment-580699
I would suggest not to leave any topic area unread. Always refer to SP07 Guides from http://help.sap.com/hana_platform_earlier_releases?current=hana_platform#section3
Develop an eye as to how to expect the questions by references to the sample questions. Expect no surprises during the exam. Questions are tricky and sometimes derivative. Refer to SPS07 Administrative Guide, Security Guide and Update Configuration Guide. Concentrate on System Landscape Planning - challenging topic area for E_HANAINS141.
The safe course for a true certification hypochondriac is to keep your study in perpetuity . The above references are enough to clear the certification without doubt. Exam is tricky in few topic areas, however "Theory of Elimination" with "reason" from all relevant Guides is easy approach to finding right answers.
Be lighthearted when you are in certification center.
    Good Luck !
    Regards

  • Adobe Air HTML & JS Developing - Slow on massive Image-Tags

    Hello,
I want to share a problem i noticed while developing an application with adobe air, based on the HTML & JS Stack, which uses multiple image-tags at the same time. I already mailed a bug but unfortunately did not get a bug number responded to refer to hit here. This post is started because i wanted to share a simple example which exhibits the problem.
    The Bug Report i mailed:
    ******BUG******
Concise problem statement: Performance Issues with massive Image-Tags (scaled)
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Create a simple Air-Application. No need for any Air-specific library we just want the Air-Webkit to render a HTML-Page
    2.  Load ~130 Pictures with a dimension of approximately 1024 x 768 pixels.  Render each of them as a scaled Image-Tag with the dimension 100x60  pixels.
    3. Load the Page in the Air/Safari/Firefox/IE Environment (Versions: Air 2.5, Safari 5.0.2 (Win XP), FF 3.6.10, IE7)
    4. Try scrolling down/left/right/up and resizing the respective stage
Results: The Air Environment performs worst among those 4. It reacts unacceptably slow while trying to resize and to scroll.
Expected results: similar performance to Webkit-Engine in Safari.
I know of one other discussion which seems to be related to a similar thing (http://forums.adobe.com/message/44913).
The Page i used to compare the Adobe-Air rendering & scroll behaviour against the behaviour of Safari, FF and IE is posted beneath (pretty long due to the excerpt of 131 pictures taken of flicker web service).
    with best regards
    Robert

  • Advise on Migration project

    Hi,
I have recently completed BI 7.0 training and have the opportunity to move into a upgrade project (don't know whether it is R/3 or BW upgrade yet) to get my first BI project exposure. I am not sure what all should I check before joining the project so that I can better utlise my time in some other implementation project in case this is not an ideal choice.
Please can you advise in which case it is better - R/3 upgrade or BI upgrade in terms of getting more hands-on experience in BI and also whether a upgrade project is at all advisable as the first project. I checked some other posts and it appears that in case of R/3 upgrade there is not much work required at the BI end. Is it true ? I have lots of experience in ABAP and so want to get exposure in this new technology.
    Tx,
    R

Why not...this is going to be a great experience ( and since this is your first project, everything is an experience for you). Also, whether it R3 or BI, learning is going to be there for sure...

  • SMP 3.0 (using Agentry): Requirements for Reverse Proxy

    All.
We are in the process of designing our landscape for SMP 3.0, where we will expose Agentry functionality, and are currently looking at the Reverse Proxy technology to use.
    From the document
Common Requirements for Reverse Proxies - Landscape Planning and Design - SAP Library
it is stated that any reverse proxy used:
Does not remove any HTTP headers.
Sets a timeout period, if used, that is greater than the timeout used by the clients.
Is this all the requirements that must be fulfilled for a reverse proxy ?
We are looking into installing a common Reverse Proxy technology, that can handle reverse proxy requirements for multiple platforms.
Hence I need to specify the requirements, in relation to SMP, for this technology.
    I hope someone can help.
    Thanks.
    Søren Hansen.

    Thanks Bill and Steve.
I got it now - for Agentry support we need WebSockets.
What about everything else on SMP 3.0 ?
    From this document:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/200d7500-2605-3210-9d91-a24cfb6523ba?QuickLink=index&…
it is stated on page 4 that different technologies needs different platforms.
    Application          Reverse Proxy
    Native                 Apache
    Hybrid                 Apache
    Agentry               Nginx
    MBO                   RelayServer
Is there no one Reverse Proxy platform that can act for all application types in front of SMP 3.0 ?
And what should the entire list of demands be ?

  • Laggy and Slow Performance

We are an architectural company, and we use photoshop to create masterplanning, arhitectural, landscape plans. So keep in mind that theres a bunch of layers with drop shadow, textures, bevel & emboss etc in it.
We recently upgraded to CS6, our PC's are installed with Windows 7 64-bit, 16 Gb or RAM, 1 Gb NVIDIA Quadro 2000D Graphics cards.
As Graphics Support, I make sure that updates, fixes are installed and all that stuff. But still, we experience some laggy and slow performance from Photoshop. The file is 660 MB, and is set to 150 Resolution. Takes a while to open, I can understand that it might be reading all those details, but once opened  you wont get a realtime response from Photoshop. This happend before but was able to fix with the update that Adobe had released.
With our PC build, I cant find any reason why would still we get this kind of performance.
Please let me know if you have some solution to this.
    Thanks.

CUDA is (and always will be) NVIDIA Proprietary.
Apple has made a strong commitment to OpenCL (not to be confused with OpenGL) to harness the power of every manufacturer's GPU. OpenCL will work with NVIDIA/CUDA or AMD cards.
Adobe has committed to OpenCL for the newest versions of their Premiere PRO CC software.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/premierepro/2013/06/adobe-premiere-pro-cc-and-gpu-support .html
In my opinion it is only a matter of time before most production software supports OpenCL.
Gaming, on the other hand, may not feel that same pressure. Those guys tend to do what they want.
Any thoughts on how dramatically a second display would affect performance?
A second display does not seem to affect these cards in any sort of perceptible way.

  • Was 640 and SLM

    Good morning,
Regarding the new SLM fonctionalities integrated in the was 640,  can you give us some clarifications ? :
Is it Solution Manager which is integrated in standard in the WAS 640 ?
    Thanks & rgds, Isabelle Bodet

    Hi Bodet,
Solution Manager is not delivered within the SAP NetWeaver AS (formerly SAP Web AS).
SLM is an application that is delivered with SAP NetWeaver '04 J2EE (sometime called 6.40 as a technical release number). The actual functionality was delivered with SP-Stack 12.
SLM is a landscape planning tool that compliments Solution manager. It does not replace or include Solman functionality.
SLM does use information defined in the SLD - however it does require a SAP NetWeaver '04 version of the SLD (6.40) so it cannot use a SLD located within a Solution manager. The recommendation would be to use a SLD external to solman so you do not have release conflicts (like the one above).
There is a good blog by Matt Kangas on the SLM topic that has more details: /people/matt.kangas/blog/2005/07/15/test-drive-software-lifecycle-manager
    I hope this helps,
    Mike.

  • Creation of System Landscape though SMSY and RFC connection

    Hi all,
I've finished install the solution manager 4.0 with Oracle 10g running on Windows Server 2003.
i would like to know after i create the RFC connection using SM59 to my TST system which will be the system that i'd plan to monitor. The authorization test seem to be failed but others connection like connection test and remote logon seem to working fine. Please kindly advise which sort of user i need to give. I receive the message "Error Details-You are not authorized to logon to the target system (error code 1)."
And at the SMSY, i cant even see the TST system. And i don know where we should create the TST system. And i wuold like to know where i can make changes to the Technical data tab for my solution manager ipaddress, beacase it has tied up to the Microsoft loopback connection.
    Please kindly assist.Thank you.
    Kah Fei

    Go to transaction SMSY
Here, towards the left hand side you will see menu with tabs of 1. Landscape Components
            2. System and Logical Components
            3. Product Definitions
            4. Overview
    Select the second tab.
It will show list of all SAP Products available, if you are linking an SAP R/3 system to Solution Manager, then select the SAP R/3 from the list. And if you have already created the server and its details, they wil appear in the list here.
    Try this out.
    Thanks,
    Anil Santhapuri

  • Source System in an ABAP Landscape

We are relatively new to SAP.  Back when we initially architected the landscape we had many consultants in, including several Platinum consultants from SAP.  At the time they emphasized the special nature of the "source system" in an ABAP landscape, and how it should never be refreshed and how we should not change which system in considered the source in our landscape.  "Once the source always the source."
Now we are being asked to change the source system, but we do not have the background as to why the source system is so special and why it should not be refreshed or changed.
Would you be willing to share your opinion on the matter?  Pros/Cons/Costs of Changing/Costs of Refreshing.
    Thank you very much.

There is a SAP Note  130906  for this. Pasting few lines from note for your referance. Please ref Note for details.
    Symptom
You want to copy the versions of the repository objects from one R/3 system into another, for example because you are planning to copy your production system to your development system.
Such a procedure does not correspond to the strategy recommended by SAP, to always retain the development system.

  • Setting Up the System Landscape for ESS

    Hello Experts,
I am implementing ESS in portal.
I am in step of defining systems in portal for ESS/MSS.
Below is link I am following from help.sap.com
    [Link|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/5b/76a6d7fd3a4e91bfb422405bf3e04d/frameset.htm]
In above link it is mentioned that we have to define following systems :
    SAP_WebDynpro_XSS
    SAP_ECC_HumanResources
    SAP_ECC_Travel
    SAP_ITS_XSS
    SAP_BSP_EREC
Additionaly according to below Article in SDN :
    [Link|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/21eb036a-0a01-0010-25a3-b2224432640a?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]
Following additional systems must be created :
SAP_ITS_EBU Looks similar to SAP_ITS_XSS above
    SAP_R3_Financials
Now the basis person in my project has handed over to me following systems :
    SAP_BSP_EREC
SAP_ITS_FND Name mismatch as FND is used in place of XSS or EBU
    SAP_R3_Financials
SAP_WebDynpro_ESS Name mismatch as ESS is used in place of XSS
Now below two systems are altogether missing as per first link on help.sap.com
    SAP_ECC_HumanResources
    SAP_ECC_Travel
Please explain if it requires to be corrected or name mismatch and missing ststems would do.
    Thanking you in anticipation.

All the above names that you are referring to are not necessarily separate systems.
These are system aliases for a system object created in your portal via System Administration - System landscape.
So, if you have HR and Finance on the same backend server, then you need only one system with the related system aliases.
You will need SAP_BSP_EREC only if you are planning on using E-recruitment.
Similarly, you will need SAP_ITS_XSS  only if you are planning on using any ITS applications.
It is pretty straight forward to change/correct the names of your system aliases instead of changing the usage of these aliases every where else.
    SAP_ECC_HumanResources is absolutely necessary.
SAP_ECC_Travel is required if you are planning on using travel and expense related applications.
Also, note that SAP_WebDynpro_XSS should be the alias of the system where your webdynpro applications are deployed (typically the same portal server)
