/System/Library/LaunchAgents/org.thebends.iphone.mobile_fs_util.plist

/System/Library/LaunchAgents/org.thebends.iphone.mobile_fs_util.plist crashes every few seconds, as shown in my  system.log.  The forum suggestions haven't worked for me and I've followed their directions carefully.  Problems seem to have begun with Mountain Lion, a couple weeks ago.  I know others are experiencing this problem but many hours spent on it haven't helped.

Have you checked the developers site?  Since it is based on MacFUSE, and MacFUSE is a deprecated project (has been since Lion or before Lion), I'm not surprised it is causing problems.  Anything that is based on kernel extensions and is no longer maintained is bound to break, sooner or later, especially two full OS releases after the developers killed off the project.

  • What does this mean? /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist /System/Library/Private/Frameworks/PackageKit.framework/Resources/shove

I got this as a Webroot alert:
    /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    /System/Library/Private/Frameworks/PackageKit.framework/Resources/shove
Is this OK, or is it something I need to fix?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

If there is an associated event in the Activity Monitor or in Console logs showing
something is actually running in the background, then I'd not be too concerned.
However, the Remote Desktop should not show any activity if you have it shut off.
After all, it is a Client version and unless you are networked remotely to someone
who would be controlling your Mac from elsewhere, there's no need to use it.
The application itself, is not the client version you have in your Mac for free:
http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/ the main deal administers client versions.
    http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/features.html
May be helpful to read up on various Mac OS X system sections to see when or
if you have odd experiences with them, where to go and look. I've not messed w/
Remote Desktop for several years, perhaps not since Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.x.
Questions and sometimes answers about Apple Remote Desktop, appear here:
Servers and Enterprise Software - Apple Support Community discussions.
Maybe you should contact the Apple person who looked into your Mac and ask
what was involved and why these messages keep appearing. The person should
be able to tell what they did and why they did it. And what to go into, and check...
They may have left something or another on or enabled, that needs to be addressed.
To see Webroot items does seem rather odd, since I've never had any messages
from that function; unless someone had a need to go in there. (But why?)
This thread was moved to Servers/Enterprise ASC, from an OS X ASC area, btw.
Also, after an update or other change in the system, may be reflected in Logs or in
the report generated by Disk Utility's repair disk permissions. These do not mean a
bad thing has taken place, necessarily. I'm unfamiliar with the recent one you noted.
    In any event...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • MBP stuck to the spinning wheel, won't boot after deleting something from "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.apache.httpd.plist"

    Hi all,
I have a MBP 13" (early 2011) running Lion 10.7.2 and some days before, I wanted to host an HTTP server on it.  I googled and found I should turn on "Web Sharing" for this feature.  But unfortunately, it just wouldn't start.  I googled again and found a solution (I think).  I tried deleting the disable key and
    <string>-D</string>
             <string>WEBSHARING_ON</string>
from "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.apache.httpd.plist". I couldn't save the file because it is protected.  So I tried copying all the content of the file and save it to a new file with the same name, deleted the original file, and put the new one back to the directory.  Nothing worked.  I couldn't edit the new file as well.  So I put the original file back and replaced the new one.  Then I tried to change my rights of that directory as well as the file to "Read and Write".  And I managed to edit the file!  I deleted the mentioned sentences and saved it.  Then I tried turning Web Sharing on for about a hundred times, but never succeeded.  So I turned off my MBP and slept.  OK, the next day when I decided to try again, I found the machine won't boot!  It got stuck to the grey screen with Apple logo and a spinning wheel permanently.  Every time I needed to hold the power button for 4 seconds to turn it off.  I've tried SUM (command-S) and ran fsck, no problems were found.  I also tried the method from http://support.apple.com/kb/TA20809 , but still couldn't get past that grey screen.  Cannot boot into safe Boot also.  I don't if it is a problem related to the alias of that file because I had deleted it and put it back.  Please help.  Many thanks.
P.S. If can't solve it, should I bring it to Apple Store and ask for Genius?

    Hi,
Yes, I did resolve it - it was the graphics card. Changed that, updated OS X and it was done.
I can't now remember exactly which card I used, and I'm away at the moment so I can't get to the infomation, but I do remember that it was a full length card with a large heatsink, and was a bit of a pig to squeeze into the chassis!
Had to buy an adaptor for the second monitor connection, but that didn't cause any hassle. I got the card and cable from the local Apple Store.
It also theoretically needed a later version of OS X than was already there, but since it allowed me to boot off the CD, that didn't matter (and it worked with the old one anyway, as it turned out).
Oh, and also of course, although it's a bog standard PC card, you have to pay way over the odds for it because it has to have different PROMS for a Mac. (Thank you Apple.)  Just part of the price we all have to pay for using Macs.
I seem to remember that there was a certain amount of dancing involved in upgrading the OS afterwards (might have had to do one step twice), but nothing that unusual.
    Hope this helps,
    All the best,
    Brian

  • I can't Disable my Memory Swapping on mac ( launchctl: Couldn't stat("/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist"): No such file or directory nothing found to unload   )

Hi Guys! I really need help here, Im a Web Graphic Designer and i really use alot of Memory on my mac ( i have 8gb ram ).  Everyone told me that disabling the memory swapping would really help alot and tried to disable it.  All of my friends taught me on how to disable it by enerting
" sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist "  on my Terminal
It really works on other MacBPro but i ge this error message
" launchctl: Couldn't stat("/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist"): No such file or directory nothing found to unload "
I tried to look at the folder or directory there is no com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist and its confusing me cause the memory swapping is still working without the com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist.
Can someone help or tell me how to fix this? I would really much appreciate it.

I never heard of anyone doing what you are attempting!
If you have so much memory as you claim I don't see the advantage of running the system in this non-standard way since you probably won't need to write to a swapfile anyway.  And you are asking for trouble if it does need it and it's not there.
Finally, I submit you must have missed or or looked in the wrong place.  In terminal cut/paste the following:
    ls /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.dynamic_pager.plist
    It shouldn't report an error.

  • The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/hpPlugInInit.kext

I loaded drivers for an hp scanjet then reconsidered and removed them.  I continue to get this message "
The systemextension "/System/Library/Extensions/hpPlugInInit.kext cannot be used , etc  This happens upon start up and also during sessions.  I never used hte scanner, and I have searched and removed anything from hp, yet I still get this annoying message.  Can anyone help me get rid of it?
    I use Snow Leopard.

    Hi nene1,
Once you have completed Linc Davis' step, if you Mac still complains, open up System Preferences > Accounts > Your Username > Login Items. This will display all items that open at login for your account. If a HP item is there, delete it by pressing the ( - ) button.
Next, open a new Finder window and click Macintosh HD > Library and then open the folders: LaunchAgents, LaunchDaemons and StartupItems. Look for anything named ***.HP.***.plist. Delete them.
Finally, open Macintosh HD > Users > Your Username > Library  and then open the folders: LaunchAgents and StartupItems. Look for anything named ***.HP.***.plist. Delete them.
Restart your Mac and you should be good to go.
Note: only do this if you have deleted all the HP stuff like you said.

  • Library not Found: /System/Library/Frameworks/StoreKit.framework/Versions/A/StoreKit

    Hello all,
I am working with a MacBook purchased in 2009, OSX 10.6.8, processor: 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory: 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
I recently downloaded and tried to install a game I had previously successfully installed from Gamehouse.com. The download goes fine, when I open the .dmg file the correct window pops up with an icon to double-click to start installation. At that point I receive an error message (see below). I contacted Gamehouse and ran through a number of solutions they gave me, including uninstalling and removing all traces of this or any other game from my computer (including .plist files), installing any available updates (iTunes finally got that update I've been postponing for months...), and dragging the installer icon into various different locations before opening. All to no avail.
It appears to me the issue is this line in the error message: "Library not Found: /System/Library/Frameworks/StoreKit.framework/Versions/A/StoreKit"
I checked the Frameworks folder and there is nothing there called StoreKit.framework, so that seems to make sense. It isn't anywhere else in the computer either. After a quick google I found this problem pops up now and then - there is one other question on the same issue in this forum, but I have no idea if the solution given there works, as the original poster never came back. Their suggestion was to try reinstalling Just OSX from the boot disc. I haven't attempted this yet - I thought I'd see if I can get any input before going that route.
Thank you for any advice. Here is the full error report:

That file is a OS X system file, you'll have to overwrite OS X with a new copy to restore it.
    First things first
    Emergency backup procedure
Drag and drop copy your users file folders (music, pictures, documents etc) to a regular external powered drive as soon as possible.
Do not use, setup or trust only TimeMachine at this troubled time as it will copy corrupted data and we need just your users files safe just in case. TimeMachine cannot be used with a Windows PC.
Unmount and Disconnect all external drives once the backup process is completed.
    Note:
If you have any over 4GB sized files, those won't copy to a standard formatted FAT32/MSDOS drive from the factory, if you need to save these 4GB+ files use another blank/empty drive and use Disk Utility to format it 1 Partition, Option: GUID,  Format: OS X Extended Journaled (or the standard default one for older Mac's).
Mac's cannot copy to nor format a NTFS  drive. ExFAT format to be used with a Windows machine must be right click formatted by Windows, not OS X (does it wrong) XP machines can install a free exFAT update from Microsoft. Vista-Win 8 can format exFAT.
Formatting a drive will erase all data on it.
Once your files are safely copied off the machine, next run through this list of fixes, I suspect #8 Reinstall Just OS X + Software Updating fully should restore the broken/missing file.
..Step by Step to fix your Mac
Overwriting OS X with a new copy does not delete most programs or users files, but you backup your users files regardless as it might be something more than we currently know at this time.

  • Constant crash in /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGLDriver.bundle/Contents/MacOS/GeForceGLDrive r

I have a 2010 unibody Mac Mini.  It came stock with a 320GB HDD and i have upgraded it to 8GB of Apple approved Kingston RAM.
The machine worked just fine under Mac OS 10.6.8, could be up for days and days and be perfectly stable.
Since upgrading to Mac OS X 10.8, i have had constant crashes in Safari, and a bunch of other apps and the only thing really similar between the messages is the following line:
    /System/Library/Extensions/GeForceGLDriver.bundle/Contents/MacOS/GeForceGLDriver
This error has caused many apps to crash, including but not limited to:
    Safari
    App Store
    VLC
    Quicktime
    PhotoBooth
    Activity Monitor
Safari seems to be the main culprit, it crashes constantly, i can use it for a bit, then it will crash, sometimes it will crash again directly after re-launch.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Apps do not quit in a cascading fashion, apps that have previously quit with the same line in the logs have not occured concurrently with other crashes at the same time.  I have created a guest account to test the system and I'm having the same issue globally, so i've managed to mostly rule out my profile.  I have no extentions installed and no plugins other than Flash and Silverlight. There seems to be no direct correlation between the use of either of these plugins when the crashes occur. Removing these plugins does not alleviate the problem.  System can be heavily loaded, or entirely idle.  I've come home from a 12 hour day to find a couple apps have crashed during the time i was gone.
App store was the only app running when it crashed.  The only other noteable thing to add is that after the crash occurs, the system will spin up all the connected external drives. I have tried disconnecting all external drives and peripherals and have been met with the same issues.
Anyone have any thoughts one what may be causing this and how it may be fixed (Short of reinstalling...)?
Here are some more snippets of console logs...

  • How do I reinstall a "System/Library /Extension CNQL123_ClassicNotSize.kext"that was improperly installed and can not be used?  It is causing iTunes to crash

I instaled the latest Safari Update and iTunes Update and now when I select Podcasts it crashes iTunes--it seems to only be the Podcast option that causes the crash. So how do i install or reinstall the system extension listed above, that cannot be used?  The error message suggest that I reinstall or contact the vendor?????  I also added an app to my dashboard which I have delected.  Should I reinstall the system that came with the mini ---Leopard 10.6.2?

If it has an uninstaller use that. Be sure you delete the kext file; and you will need to restart afterwards.
If there is no uninstaller then see the following:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software.

Ever since I upgrade to Maverick I keep getting this error. Any have an idea.  Its really messing up my computer.

    Hi,
Your doing what and when this appears would be useful.
It also looks like it has extra spaces dotted about in this copy of the info.
There appear to be several spaces before some of the forward slashes that are not expected.
On the other hand it could be several different lines of a report as when I look ReportCrash is an Executable item and cannot be opened further.
    / /System/Library/CoreServices/ReportCrash
    /usr/lib/libgenkit.dylib /usr/share/icu/icudt51l.dat
    /private/var/folders/_p/d1ckn47x4wsghc2vb1rk82vm0000/C/com.apple.LaunchServic es-044501.csstore
    /usr/lib/dyld /private/var/db/dyld/dyld_shared_cache_x86_64 /d
Did it read like the above originally ?
It would appear that Report Crash is triggered and it might have something do do with something in Launch Services but then again they might not be related other than an app reporting it is using those two things .

  • How do I recover Apple's stock python after accidentally deleting it from /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework? Is a Snow Leopard restore the only option?

I accidentally and foolishly deleted my COMPLETE folders: /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5 and /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6. Almost 10,000 files were trashed, and only three files would not go through. One of them was the 2.5 python executable. So I put this file back to its original location from trash, but it won't execute (probably for a reason - since Python is missing its remaining files).
I have a python.org python2.7 up and running, but my understanding is that Snow Leopard needs its stock apple provided python for the system to function properly.
Is my only to format my hard drive and restore Snow Leopard from scratch?

I'm actually not trying to do anything other than compile a python script for analyzing scientific data. I am a BIOLOGIST and have absolutely no interest in python for the sake of python. I just need to analyze my data. To get there, I need python/numpy/scipy/wxpython/matplotlib and many other things. I don't know why this seems so "suspicious"??? It's a free world - people are allowed to mess with things. It's not like I am threatening Apple - I made a mistake. Plain and simple. What's the big deal???
I was deleting some skeleton files that were leftover from previous versions of programs and libraries. And that's how I ran into the python2.5 and 2.6. I thought - I will never use these pythons again - why do I have 2.5 files still on my system. I thought I was in /Library/Python, but I was actually in /System/Library/Frameworks. By the time I realized I had wiped out the system's python, it was too late - trash was emptied permanently.
I am in no way trying to "experiment" with apple's python. I know apple's python can happily coexist with python.org or macports python.
In general, I get frustrated with trying to run python bioinformatics scripts on my Mac because there is always an issue. It's either that python is running in 64 bit mode and the scripts are too old. Or, the default apple provided gcc screws up. Quite frankly - Apple and Python are not always best friends.
I used to have a multitude of pythons through fink and macports but I wiped them all out and installed python.org's python27. I also switched to github for all my dependencies and libraries.
In the future, I'll just find a Linux machine to run bioinformatics. I love my Mac, but so far, I have had nothing but nightmares with Python and Apple trying to be friends. Linux is so much better for these types of activities. I can even do a Virtualbox Ubuntu on my MBP and take it from there...
For example, many bioinformatics scripts were made with Carbon and require Carbon. But guess what? Apple kept support for 64-bit Cocoa, but only supports 32-bit Carbon. That makes life ****. Why have a 64 bit architecture with no support for it?

What does this message mean? "Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired"  I get this when I try to repair permissions in disk utility.

It's an innocuous error you can ignore. It was introduced with previous updates for ARD and/or Java before Lion. These are messages, not errors. They will cause no harm, and they will be repeated each time you repair permissions.
