System.log DNS Error, help
Hi, I am using a fairly old app on my Server that runs on the desktop and reads log files (name of the app is MKConsole, it's VERY handy) and I keep getting this error...
"Jan 10 20:19:36 G4-Server servermgrd: servermgr_dns: no name available via DNS for 192.168.1.10
Jan 10 20:19:36 G4-Server servermgrd: servermgr_dns: no hostname set and unable to detect via DNS, services may not function properly - use changeip to repair"
I have tried using "chageip" and have done man changeip to see if I was missing anything but I was not, and the problem persists. Does anyone know a way to fix this? I don't think it is a problem with the DNS Services, because I have tried turning DNS services off and it still came up woth the error.
Thanks!
The problem isn't necessarily with your server, but the DNS server that it uses.
The server is trying to resolve its own IP address, so it's asking the DNS server for the reverse lookup of 192.168.1.10. The DNS server doesn't have a reverse entry for that IP, and that's why the server is complaining.
Your fix is to make sure that your DNS is setup correctly, with correct reverse DNS for your server.

Push notification service fills the system log with errors
When I have the push notification service enabled, my system logs become filled with messages such as this:
Sep 8 22:54:54 xserve jabberd/c2s[2175]: [7] [::ffff:192.168.1.100, port=50064] connect
Sep 8 22:54:54 xserve jabberd/c2s[2175]: [7] [::ffff:192.168.1.100, port=50064] disconnect jid=unbound, packets: 0
They occur at a rate of about two every second. What does that message mean and how do I stop it?When I took a look at push notification, I noticed that it was listening to a different port than what dovecot had been configured to use.(jabberd was set to listen to 5347, while Dovecot (email) was using the standard 5222 port for that open protocol. Not sure what the ichat server is set to use.
Eventually, I did manage to get it working by updating the push notification config to listen to 5222. But it made no real difference because thunderbird and mail.app prefer imap updatings instead of push notification. So I turned it off.
Not sure if this is of any help to you.

Log-In Error, Help!
I get an error when logging into Discoverer Report Viewer. I can log in once or twice, but then after closing to see the results from a change in Administrator, I recieve an error that reads as follows:
Attempt 1. RMI protocol over JRMP transport: Session has timed out. Either the session has timed out, or there is a problem maintaining http session ids between browser and web server. Please log in again. If the problem persists, please contact your Oracle Application Server administrator.
Attempt 2. RMI protocol over http transport: Session has timed out. Either the session has timed out or there is a problem maintaining http session ids between browser and web server. Please log in again. If the problem persists, please contact your Oracle Application Server administrator.
Hint: An administrator can further diagnose connection problems by running the "checkdiscoverer" script under <ORACLE HOME>/discoverer/util. Please contact your Oracle Application Server Administrator.
Is this a common error? Is there a certain way to log out to avoid this errror? Any advice/help you can give would be great. Thanks! Here is the discoverer forum:

Weird system log error: EV_DELETE failed for file watcher
I just did a clean install of Snow Leopard (erased my hard disk before the installation using Disk Utility). I've run all the updates. I was experiencing some weird delay between the appearance of the blue screen and the appearance of the login window. The delay went away, but when I shutdown or restart, my system log has errors like this:

Does anyone know what these mean? These do turn up on a Google search, but under systems prior to Snow Leopard! Remember that this is a completely clean system with no third-party software installed yet.I get a series of eight EV_DELETE errors when ejecting my external FW800 drive. But not when mounting.
The drive also has a USB interface which I rarely use since the FW is much faster. I just tried mounting it using USB. Same behavior - no errors on the mount, but 8 EV_DELETE errors when I eject the drive.
The must be something sketchy with the file structure of the external drive (which is a SuperDuper clone of my internal hard drive).

Dec 2 10:28:04: --- last message repeated 4 times ---Bonjour is itself a DNS (technically, a component of DNS Service Discovery that uses multicast DNS) though it is not user-configurable in the sense that, say, BIND is.
The error message Bonjour is receiving is "DNS message too short." While I understand this may have little to do with a queryable DNS like BIND (though Bonjour is in fact a queryable DNS in an entirely different sense), Bonjour has everything to do with DNS.
That said, I will be the first to admit that my ignorance on this topic is vast. -

I have a problem with my iCal, when I use my caldav account, I can only see my own calendar on my MBA, on my co-workers MBP it works fine with both my account and his. My co-worker can't see other calendars than his own when he uses iCal on my laptop.
We can reproduce this problem on his computer by setting Location to Automatic rather than Amsterdam, then after deleting iCal's cache files, the caldav account and setting the Location back to Amsterdam solves the problem for him.
It does not solve the problem for me (or several other co-workers). We've been looking at this for a few weeks, and we can not find any clear pattern why certain machines have this problem and others don't.
All machines (both affected and unaffected) are running Mac OS 10.7.2 with iCal 5.0.1
I've spoken to Apple support over the phone (in the Netherlands), unfortunately, they couldn't help with this.
So far we've tried numerous location and language settings, but on affected machines nothing appears to solve the delegation problem (which we assume to be connected to the error messages iCal generates)
Starting iCal yeilds the following error messages in /var/log/system.log:

Strange system log error from Photoshop CS4
Hi.
I keep getting this strange system log error from Photoshop CS4.
It comes after a wile when using PS CS4.
I tried to chance the memory settings and scratch disc to see if that helped. It didn't.
I also checked all my ram for anything bad. 16GB in my Mac Pro Intel OS X 10.5.6
Everything is updated to latest included Adobe apps.
This is the system log error

Hi everyone.
I'm having some trouble.
Today i saw my system log file have an error going.
its a
iMac AOSNotification[165]: [AOSNotification] XMPP session not connected - no ping sent
and it is coming all day long.
i'm sure it have something to do with MobileMe or some synchronizing thing.
Anyone have an idea of what to do ? I did try to log out and back in on MobileMe.
But it didn't help.
ThxHi.
Yes. it is synchronizing with my Notes, Keychains, Bookmarks and Calendar but not with a iPhone
Just the normal MobileMe on the computer. The iPhone is manually synchronized with iTunes and not with MobileMe.
But the strange part is. I even deleted all the MobileMe sync preffs such as
user/Library/Application support/Preferences/host/com.apple.AOSNotification
user/Library/Application support/Preferences/host/com.apple.DotMacSync
user/Library/Application support/Preferences/com.apple.FileSyncAgent.plist
and logged out of MobileMe preffspane in systempreffs.
And it is still giving me the same error in system log ????
Really weird now that i eint logged in ?
