Well, just for laughs, I rebuilt the indexes of the wiki server and it looks like it fixed these memory errors.
The following terminal commands stop the wiki server, rename three index files and restarts the wiki server. The index files are rebuilt (can take a while) when the wiki server is restarted.
+sudo serveradmin stop teams+
+sudo mv /Library/Collaboration/globalIndex.db /Library/Collaboration/globalIndex.db.old+
+sudo mv /Library/Application\ Support/Apple/WikiServer/directoryIndex.db /Library/Application\ Support/Apple/WikiServer/directoryIndex.db.old+
+sudo mv /Library/Application\ Support/Apple/WikiServer/sessions.db /Library/Application\ Support/Apple/WikiServer/sessions.db.old+
+sudo serveradmin start teams+
If anyone knows what other files should be renamed/deleted for a really comprehensive rebuild, I would be interested. Unrelated to the memory error (I assume) there are users in the redundant and unsynchronized wiki user directory that were long ago deleted from Open Directory.

I am having this same problem. I took Kappy advice on restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service, however that did not work. I got this message in a pop up window that came up immediately.

Error 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
I have already uninstalled itunes, all the related programs and I cannot reinstall, this Apple Mobil Device message stops the install.

I am trying to download EndNoteX4 but keep getting the message 'no mountable file systems'. What does this mean and how do fix it?

I am really unsure as to what I am doing wrong.
Maybe you are doing nothing wrong and the problem is with the disk.
Use SuperDuper or CarbonCopy Cloner
to clone your system to an external drive.
Then boot from your DVD go to Disk Utility and choose your entire drive > top icon in DIsk Utility.
Go to Erase tab. Choose format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Click on erase. Now, install Lion and when you get to setup assistant choose to migrate from your external drive.
This is slightly different than baltwo described and slighly longer but if there is any corruption on your disk a more through way to go, IMO.
What baltwo is saying is to clone your volume over to an external hard drive with CCC reformat and clone it back. This will defragment the files and make them all contiguous but will not address any directory problems.
Your choice. You can do it one way, then the other if it doesn't work out for you. -
When I attempt to install Itunes on Windows 7, I get the message "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." What does this mean?
So many people are having this problem! Doehunter's instructions here worked for me! Hope this helps. https://discussions.apple.com/message/23824640#23824640

"Error in first 1MB of system memory"- What does this mean?
I have a 2 year old T60, no prior problems. Today, when attempting to start it up (after already running it for a few hours this morning), the screen remained blank and it gave the following series of beep codes- 1 long, 3 short, 4 long, 3 short.
After some research, I have discovered that this beep code means that there is an "error in the first 1MB of system memory". What exactly does that mean, and how serious is it?

Message Edited by jchapm12 on 07-03-2009 01:36 PMHi jchapm12,
Welcome to the Lenovo forum
I was unable to find your beep code in the T60 Hardware Maintenance Manual. And I don't know exactly what your error code code means, other than what it says. But I'd still recommend booting from the Memtest86+ CD and letting at least 1 complete set of tests complete. For a more complete test, let it run for several passes, or overnight.
In case Memtest finds any errors, then most likely either some of your RAM has gone bad, or the connection between the RAM and its socket in your T60 has become poor. You can try removing and re-inserting the DIMMs to scrape off any surface oxidation that may be giving a bad connection. (See Hardware Maintenance Manual for instructions on adding/removing RAM.) Run Memtest again after any changes to verify that it no longer finds any errors.
RAM errors are serious: even if they don't cause boot problems, they can lead to filesystem errors and thus unpredictable system instabilities and/or data loss.
Good luck and please let us know how it goes...

Mail error log - what does this mean?
I am using Mail 6.2 on ML 10.8.2. Account is setup as Exchange accessing my OWA account. I can receive and send mails but Mail will not sync my subfolders. I have a large mail file (~30GB) as we are required by our company to not archive early than 7 years,
I get this error log fromt he Mail script
error "Can’t make «class port» of «class dact» of item 1 of every «class mact» of application \"Mail\" into type string." number -1700 from «class port» of «class dact» of item 1 of every «class mact» to string
Any idea what this means?
ThanksI just got a new Mac and wanted to transfer my old iTunes library to it. After a night of attempting to import the old library to the new Mac it said that the library was damaged and subsequent restarts yielded the 13010 error. I deleted everything listed, did a number of iTunes reintalls and the only thing that has allowed iTunes to continue is to dig up a backup library (which is in progress now). Barring this working, how can I get it so that iTunes boots again as if it is factory fresh?

Any idea what's wrong with my spotlight?I am also seeing this behavior.
Spotlight is attempting (and failing) to index a 4 TB external volume (connected via Firewire). I see the mds process grow to 1.5-2.5 GB of memory and I have an MDS crash every 30 minutes.
I've uploaded one of the crash reports here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8091631/mds_2011-05-01-103642_localhost.crash.txt - not pasting it to make it more readable.
However, I think the important line is this:
Application Specific Information:
/SourceCache/Spotlight/Spotlight-507.15/index/ContentIndex/BurstTrie.h:52: failed assertion 'ptrM(newptr).next == ptr.next' /Volumes/qx2/.Spotlight-V100/Store-V1/Stores/B538EF23-CCA3-4DEF-88E2-127276C9FD 69 (hfs, t: 0x11, st: 0x1, f: 0x4a09018)
This points to a broken assumption in the mds code, not a configuration issue. Developers (should) use asserts to codify their assumptions into the program and a blown assert is usually a programming mistake, not a configuration issue by the user.
I believe that this appeared on my system around the 10.6.7 upgrade and/or when I switched my Mac Pro to use the 32-bit kernel instead of the 64-bit kernel. -
BPC Client Logging, what does this mean?
I've been having trouble with my queries returning data. Sometimes my EVDREs will hang long after the query ends on BW. I looking in the client logs C:\Documents and Settings\dcarey\My Documents\BPC\Logging\. I noticed the logs are filling up with the the following error: What is the source of this error? Is it causing my query trouble?

==============[BPC Exception Logging End ]==============Hello,
is there any hint, what might cause this error message?
We are currently facing the message and have problems running reports
Searching SDN, SAP Notes or even Goog.. with search machines only lead to this thread.
Any help is appreciated!

timestamp: 1355111216322Well, just for laughs, I rebuilt the indexes of the wiki server and it looks like it fixed these memory errors.
The following terminal commands stop the wiki server, rename three index files and restarts the wiki server. The index files are rebuilt (can take a while) when the wiki server is restarted.
+sudo serveradmin stop teams+
+sudo mv /Library/Collaboration/globalIndex.db /Library/Collaboration/globalIndex.db.old+
+sudo mv /Library/Application\ Support/Apple/WikiServer/directoryIndex.db /Library/Application\ Support/Apple/WikiServer/directoryIndex.db.old+
+sudo mv /Library/Application\ Support/Apple/WikiServer/sessions.db /Library/Application\ Support/Apple/WikiServer/sessions.db.old+
+sudo serveradmin start teams+
If anyone knows what other files should be renamed/deleted for a really comprehensive rebuild, I would be interested. Unrelated to the memory error (I assume) there are users in the redundant and unsynchronized wiki user directory that were long ago deleted from Open Directory. -
Help
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

as prompted by iTunes, i decided to update my current version. Having done this i then received a message telling me the installation had been unsuccesfull. So i un-installed that and then went to the Apple UK based site and downloaded the latest version from there. But once again a message popped up telling me that i had to verify i have sufficient priviledges to start system services but without giving me the opportunity to do so. The laptop i use is mine, and i have had itunes forever and now i do not. someone help please!

Hi
I dropped my macbook yesterday and it turned itself off. When I tried to turn it back on all I got was a white/gray screen with a flash folder with a ? in the middle of it? What does this mean and how do I get it to stop so I can log onto my laptop?Deev
Normally the question mark on the gray screen means it can't find the operating system. Have you tried booting up from the installation DVD? Do that, and when you come to the screen where it wants to begin a system installation you'll notice in the menubar where it say's utilites. Click on that and choose disk utility. from there choose your disk and try to verify and repair the disk. If you can you may want to also try and new install of the system. I don't know how much critical data you have, but reinstalling is an option. did you purcahse you from an Apple store? If you did you may want them to look at it. Hope this helps.

Hello DEstadt,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Best of luck,
Mario
