Hi my MacBook is freezing whenever I try to open an application. I have tried resetting the system management controller, however no success. How can I wipe my hardrive and reinstall it again. PS: I no longer have the installation CDs, can I download it from Apple?
To get replacement installation disks, call Apple. Have the serial number of your MBP ready and a credit card. There is a fee.

Reset System Management Controller after changing battery?
I am planning to change my battery. A friend told me that I should reset the power management system, which I assume meant the System Management Controller, in order to reset the battery cycles. Is this correct and how do I do it?
The battery cycle info is contained within the circuitry of the battery. It won' hurt to reset the SMC but it isn't required

Distributed System Manager SysMan ACL.acl
I've managed to lock myself out of the Distributed System Manager.
The help file http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/372572A-01/sysman/ni_acl_db/ says to reset security settings remove the SysMan ACL.acl file from the default LabVIEW Data directory. I cant find it
I've completed a search on my hard drive and found no file with an .acl extension
I was logging in and out trying to get the Shared Variable Engine operating correctly and for some reason I decided it would be a good idea to add a new host. A message along the lines of "Changing this setting will no longer allow (Nobody) to log in" It was a Friday afternoon and I presumed that as it was trying to log in with the User (Nobody), this was why my Shared Variable Engine would not connect to my OPC Server
Now the host name I changed it to does not work. It says the user is invalid.
Any ideas how to reset the host settings so I can at least get in?
AlanHi Tony
Thanks for your help
See attached I went to Actions>ConfigureSecurity>then selected add New User/Host
Then checked configure new host and typed in the username of the PC.
Not the cleverest thing Ive done recently

SLD - Logical System Management
Hi,
We are implementing XI and we have the problem with SLD logical system management. The problem is that we use the same Logical system name (Ex. PRDclnt350) for all the systems to avoid running lengthy BDLS process when we hook our R3 systems to their respective BW systems.
Can you please suggest how we take care of this in XI -SLD landscape as it requires unique logical system names for each Business System when maintaining in SLD.
Can we have multiple SLDs and will it take care of the issue. If so can we take one of them as the master SLD and the rest as slave SLDs. What would be the best practices for synchronizing them. Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
Thanks and regards..
HarithaHi All,
We opened an OSS note with SAP regarding this. Please see the question we asked and the response we got from them regarding the SLD maintenance:
Hi,
We are on BW 3.5 and SAP ERP 5.0. We are implementing XI now. So we
need to configure SLD and register our Business systems. The problem is
we have the concept of using the same logical system for all our SAP
systems, say WRPCLNT750, when we are hooking our systems to their
respective BW systems. And in SLD, we have problem becuase of this, as
it recommends to have unique logical system name for each Business
System being registered.
We want to mention some points in here about our landscape and some of
the recommendations we got from SAP regarding this. Ours is a very big
warehouse system and in order to avoid the lengthy "BDLS" runs, SAP
recommended using the same Logical System name for all the SAP systems.
Hence we are using the same logical system name for our systems.
So now coming to our problem, can you please tell us what would be the
best practice that needs to be followed now for SLD Business System
registration. How can we overcome the hurdle of NOT having a unique
logical system name for our systems in central System Landscape
Directory.
Please let us know the solution as early as possible.
Thanks and regards..
Haritha.
The Response:
Hello Haritha
I have found some pass cases with the same question that you have,
however, the replies from developer are as below.
Logical systems cannot be duplicated within the SLD, that means one
Business System per Logical System name, both need to be unique, the SLDis working a designed here.
I would suggest you rename one of the copies of the productive system
to solve this.
My apology that I couldn't provide you a better answer for this.
Thanks & Best Regards

Where I can find and use "Java Desktop System Management Tools "
With Solaris 10, you not only get the Java Desktop System desktop environment, but also the Java Desktop System Management Tools and a selection of free and trial Development Tools, which are available for download only.
I found only an information about JDS release 2
but today it's release 3 already and it's said it already integrated in JDS
and above sentence it state that it already come with solaris 10?
where i can find that , where i can use it
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-7575/6mmsrpduj?a=view
this page said how to install but ...where I can find CD/
regards please helpGood question. It appears to have been installed with Solaris 11/06, as I have all of the packages listed here:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-7575/6mmsrpdus?a=view
However, it does not appear in the Java Web Console. I tried adding it using the wcadmin command, but haven't managed to get it to run as per the docs. The documentation assumes that it is already installed and visible in the Java Web Console...
According to this documentation:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1985/6mhm8o5l6?a=view#gdjpi
An application for the Java Web Console should have a WEB-INF directory and an app.xml file. The apoc packages come with neither, so something is missing. -
How to install forms 6i runtime using windows Systems Management Server?
Hi,
Our clinents are using oracle forms 5 application and we want to upgrade to forms 6i ( client /server ).
How to install oracle forms 6i and reports 6i runtime in multiple client machines
using windows systems management server instead of installing one by one manually.
RegardsHere is a quick summary on why this works...
The Problem:
The issue relies with the method and logic that MDT’s scripts use to query and validate that the proper disks, partitions and storage space reside before starting the installation of Windows.
Essentially what you have configured in the Task Sequence and the UNATTEND.xml is analyzed by the MDT scripts then a validation is completed against the hardware in which you wish to install Windows
on and if there are any errors you will be prompted with MDT Error or Warning dialogs.
The problem is that the MDT scripts use WMI to query the hard disk, partition and free space requirements for Windows, but in the case of using GPT disk, the 2nd partition (MSR) that you have to create
is hidden. The class that WMI uses for its query can’t see the MSR partition so instead of 3 partitions, it returns 2 in the query results; hence why DISK 0 PARTITION 3 doesn’t work as mentioned earlier when configured in the MDT Task Sequence.
Although the above still confuses me as to why it works with DISK 0 PARTITION 2 since the WMI query results return PARTITION IDs 0 and 1 when it should return 1 and 2…
The Windows Pre-Installation Environment however does see all 3 partitions correctly and we tried configuring in our Task Sequence to install Windows to DISK 0 and PARTITION 2 and in the UNATTEND.xml
file to install Windows to DISK 0 and PARTITION 3 but due to timing issues of the way Windows installs with MDT, did this not work for us. -

Some folders on System Manager are not displayed correctly
Hi,
I'm using a Rockwell CLP of family ControlLogix, this CLP communicates with NI OPC Servers. I have created a Process and an IO Server on System Manager
My problem is: when I browse for TAGs on System manager, some items, who must be folders, are displayed as integers.
Same problem occurs when I use PSP Network browser, example tool.

System management software for LV apps on cRIO and Windows
Hello All,
Were I work there is a LabVIEW based project that is a distributed system. This system has a main application that can run on Linux, Windows, or cRIO targets. The main application loads "plugins" depending on what platform it is on to do platform specific things. For example, one plugin uses a DLL interface to communicate with OPC servers. Another plugin measures voltages and currents on cards in the cRIO chassis.
The system occasionally needs updates and the sites where it runs are remote. The current solution is to send a technician who installs a full upgrade. We want to move to a rolling upgrade that is automated.
We can certainly roll our own solution, but before we do that we want to investigate existing solutions.
I believe such systems are under the buzzwords System Management Software and WSUS the windows update solution is one of these.
Is there a System Management Software package that would deploy to cRIOs and Windows machines? (We have the Linux one solved already, although we might redo it if there is something really slick out there.)
Thanks!Hi,
For cRIO's you might want to have a look at the Real-Time Target System Replication.

System Management container in Multidomain environment (same forest)
Greetings,
The scenario is the following:
1 root domain. 5 child domains. The schema was extended for Win2008 R2.
1 primary parent SCCM site (implemented in a child domain. 1 sccm server). 4 primary child SCCM sites (implemented in the 4 remaining child domains. 1 sccm server per child domain).
All of the SCCM servers are SP2 R3.
The System Management container was created in all of the child domains and the permissions was applied according to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633121.aspx
In every AD site, in System Management container appears the information pertaining to its sccm server.
The questions are:
At the AD domain where is the parent sccm site, in its System Management container, all of the sccm servers must be granted permissions?
The System Management container must be created at the root domain? (and what would be the permissions?)
Thanks in advance!Site servers write their information to the System Management container in their own domain (and only their own domain) thus you need to create the System Management container in each and every domain where there is a site server but only the site server
in that domain needs to be granted permissions in that domain.
Clients use the global catalog to query for info so the actual domain where the System Management container or objects contained therein doesn't really matter.

I had this same error with the same configuration. If SUN set up your box they problem configured root to execute a .profile-EIS. Modify root's .profile so that it does not execute the .profile-EIS. Then try your install again. This worked for me.
