System message driving me crazy:-/

This system message shows about 30 times a day! It's driving me crazy!! :-/ Please help!!

Samuel provided the best option , and since you've update to lollipop recently , a repair would be helpfull not only in removing these glitches, it would further enhance performance and experience.
If you don't really want to repair, then you could just try 1-2 things and see if it helps a little bit.
Go to settings > apps > all > smart connect > clear data .
Then uninstall updates, and update the app through Play store again. Or simply disable it if you don't use it.

Help!! Restore message driving me crazy!@

I have a 4gb nano that shows the "use itunes to restore". (windowsXP) I have hooked it to my main computer with the latest version if Itunes and I get the message that the nano "needs to restore" loop. So I have reformatted, restored (from ITunes and also from the updater, changed drive letters (3 or 4 times), everything that the forums have suggested. Then I went to an older computer and installed itunes version 6plus. This version of itunes recognises my ipod! Will sync and play songs, delete songs. etc. Everything Honky dory until i disconnect the ipod from the computer and then I get the 3 language "use itunes to restore" message again and nothing else. So what else is there for me to do? tried different usb ports, different cables, different computers. I know this is a definite software problem. The harddrive works fine in windows and also in itunes version 6+, but not on its own or version 7. Battery has a great life.

I understand why you would think that, but logically it doesn't make sense. I can read and write to the ipod with windows explorer with no problems, so the flash drive seems to be ok. I can also load, read and play songs through Itunes 6 on the computer with no problems. The problems start in Itunes 7 and when the ipod is used as an ipod alone....not a drive. The diagnostic windows tell me the drive is fine and the battery is ok (just a little low on voltage) but hubby says not enough to worry about. If anything was wrong with the hardware I wouldn't be able to use it as a drive would I? Its almost as though the thing is "stuck" on the boot up window of "use Itunes to restore". I even tried to load rockbox. The software all loaded but I still got the itunes restore window on startup and thats as far as I can go. Another thing I noticed recently is I can't seem to turn the ipod off! I can reset it but it just "reboots". After the restore notice about 10 seconds later the whole screen will blank out. Also when I plug the ipod directly to the wall to charge, I also get the apple...then the itunes restore notice...but never a battery charge icon (like my classic 20gb)...is this normal? This nano was given to me - (Also, this is a first generation, but I posted in the second generation thread) Would a repartition work?

Sofware installation message driving me crazy

my mac keeps asking if I wish to download printer software and I want to stop this request as it keeps asking if I want to install. I attempted to install it and it responded by giving me a message saying it was a third party application even though it searched for it in the apple store. I deleted the software and reinstalled and got the same message my mac then tells me to go to hp website and the software does not exist or refers me to app store where it does not exist. I want to get the little grey box of my screen for good. My printer works it is a HP laserjet P2500 dn.

Thanks for responding. The grey box comes up giving me the option of whether I want to install later or now. If I say not now it goes away only to come back ten minutes or so later. If I press install it says that the software does not exist yet on the app store. I cannot not unclick with right button as there is nothing on the appstore to unclick (even though Applee keeps asking whether or not want to download something that keeps telling me it is not available in the App store.

If it's a Windows error, it's typically going to be a Microsoft problem. Uninstall any security software you have and if you have a restore point for your PC, you may want to restore your PC back to when iTunes was working normally. If none of those work you would need to contact Microsoft and demand help.

So nice of you be so responsive. Thank you. Unfortunately, something is just not right even though I pretty much always keep my Macs in good health. When I move that folder (~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail) and let it create a new one, Mail stops remembering ANY preferences. I can move and resize my windows and change my Prefs, but when I quit and relaunch Mail it goes back to some default state with none of my changes honored. Furthermore, when I search for the string "DisplayInThreadedMode" with BBEdit within that folder and all its subfolders, nothing is found.
Maybe it has to do with how many things I disable on the recent OS X versions. I routinely disable Spotlight, Notification Center, Dashboard, Auto-Save & Versions, Gatekeeper, Automatic App Termination.... you know, all that stuff that I never asked for and don't need/want ;-)
Maybe I could try re-enabling Auto-Save or something. Still, no other apps ever seem to behave strangely when I set all these "hidden preferences" to disable these unwanted OS features. Who knows, maybe the Mail team (programmers) just started assuming something was available which they didn't used to assume in 10.8.

I am working on a project for an online class - I am teaching myself really! My last assignment I cannot get to work. I had a friend who "knows" what he is doing help me. The assignment is:
Create a Java program to read in an unknown number of lines from a data file. You will need to create the data file. The contents of the file can be found at the bottom of this document. If you are working in Eclipse IDE, you can set a breakpoint and single step through your code to determe what line crashes. You can also examine variable values before the crash. Locate a line before the crash and set a breakpoint by double clicking on the vertical blue line that appears immediately to the left of the line of code. A blue 'dot' will appear on the line. Then,from the menu, select 'debug as application'. This will run your main() function up to that break point. In the menu, there are icons to allow you to single step through lines of code from that point, and another icon to step over lines of code if you want.
Alternatively to setting break points, you can sprinkle your code with piles of System.out.println statements. Example: you have System.out.println("1"), and in another part of your code System.out.println("2"). If you code runs and prints out "1", but not "2", then you code crashed between them. I use breakpoints and System.out.println to debug.
In your trace, you have "at java.util.Scanner.<init>(Scanner.java:590)" which means it crashed at line 590 (note in all the tracings, Scanner.java is a name of one of your custom classes and not a vendor class, thats how you can quickly find what part of the trace is important to you).
NullPointerException means you tried to call a function on an object that is not instansiated (its null).
Example: person.getName() will not work if person is null. Its the call to getName() that crashes.
Debugging code is a very important skill set that you have to develop in which you have to logically track down and isolate problems.

Built in iSight driving me crazy - erratic

My built in iSight (iMac 2011, 21", OSX Lion updated to date) is driving me crazy, as I need to record some videos for my job. When I´m on the administrator user -the only one I use- it works fine on Facetime, PhotoBooth and iChat, but on Quicktime and iMovie it does not (black screen on iMovie, no green light on camera, if I press "record" it stops after 3 seconds / on quicktime if I click on "record new video" it appears an error message, could be translated -my OSX is in spanish- as "the task can´t be done at the moment".
I tried adding a new user, and it worked fine with it, I did and SMC reset (same error), erased all preference files (same thing) and later I reinstalled Lion without formatting the hard drive.
After this last step it worked. I could record a demo video on both quicktime and iMovie. But this morning when I turned it on the error is there again, same behavior, same everything. Before trying to record I just:
- Changed the wallpaper and some mouse options, and the sound output from "internal" to my external usb sound card.
- Opened Safari to check mail
- Opened garage band (it looked for the .au)
- Opened Logic (same as garage band)
I´m out of ideas, any help would be great. I´ve just installed Skype to see what happened and it does also not work.

FWIW, today I checked Focusrite's support pages and note that Scarlett 2i2/usb does NOT appear on the their list of products known to be compatible with Mac OS X Lion: http://www.focusrite.com/answerbase/en/article.php?id=1159
However, I did find several Focusrite articles concerning the Scarlett USB 2.0 Range products: http://www.focusrite.com/answerbase/en/category.php?id=108. Article titles from that page, including "Scarlett 2i2", "Using iSight/Facetime HD webcam with your interface on a Mac", or "Latency issues using a Scarlett with Logic", may give you some cither ideas.
If properly applying the 10.7.5 Combo Update doesn't solve your problem, and if you don't get the real solution from info you find here, I agree that your best bet is direct help from Focusrite. Java is driving me crazy

Hello all,
I had this BIG problem for a while and it's really driving me crazy. Simply, I have a java application (it uses tomcat). The application is run through a batch file. Now my biggest problem is that I need to turn it into an NT service.
I were actually able to create a service to start the batch file (using AutoExNT.exe for Windows, that comes with the resource kit, I believe you know it). No how do I stop the server when the user stops the service, this is what I am troubled with.
I am open to any suggestions, I might even get rid of this autoexnt.exe solutions, please advise.

The message is a generic message from Windows. It is very frequent since many NT services are just plain old Windows apps converted to a service but implementing only the minimum (start/stop) of the interface with the Service Manager. My guess is that the Tomcat NT service is one of those.
Fortunately, most of the times, the only reason why the Windows app would run and not the corresponding NT service is because of security issues coming from an incorrect configuration. So, you should try the following : Into the "Services" Control Panel, "Startup..." button for your Tomcat will display a dialog with the user account running the service. Try using your user account. If you're able to run Tomcat, the Service Manager should be able to run it on your behalf.
Another thing to try would be to use the Local System account with "allow service to interact with desktop" checked in case it wasn't. The reason is that normally services are designed to work without anybody logged in and no desktop where to create windows whereas most plain Windows app turned into services will create a window even if it's not visible nor absolutely required.
(I'm looking at a french NT, so, labels may differ slightly from my translation)

Macbook sleeps with long delay and tons of system messages

It takes my MacBook Pro a long time to go to sleep (4 minutes or more). During this time thousands of messages are produced in the System log.
There are so many of them that some messages are discarded. Some of these messages:

I have tried, without success, the following things:
- reinstall the system
- perform a disk verification
- repair file permissions
- boot in safe mode
What I have not tried is a hardware check, because I couldn't. (Starting up with D pressed has no effect and starting up with option-D pressed initiates the check, but this is aborted because my machine doesn't support it.)
The behavior takes place with hibernation, not with "unsafe sleep".

The issue is not that my log files are large but it's that log messages (the same message over and over again) are being constantly written to that Console application - I guess by syslogd - at a crazy rate per second which is causing the CPU to spike and causing my Free RAM to go from say 3GB to a few MB's within a matter of seconds. I actually can't find a log file on my system (via Spotlight search or Terminal "grep" searching) that has the hundreds and thousands of messages showing up in the Console log app. syslogd just gets "crazy" and pretty much takes over the CPU and depletes my computer free RAM when handling those:

Transformation problems driving me crazy

This is driving me crazy! If I create a process with a start node that
receives an typed XML document (schema has compiled OK in the utilities
project) then if I try to use a transformation to bind a String element from
the expected send XML to a String variable, then I just get the following
message in a red box:
ERROR: cannot find a suitable Constraint for this join link.
Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong gratefully received.
I'm using WLI 9.2.

I can get around this by manually modifying the .xq file that is created
(but not populated with my query) to include
the xquery mapping that I want, and it works fine. I still can't fathom out
why the xquery transformation utility comes
up with the error below.

Ipad intermittant tone driving me crazy!

In the past two weeks, my iPad has intermittantly sounded some tone (four notes with third one raised) with NO other type of notification. I have turned EVERY notification I can find OFF and yet it still sounds from time to time ... I can NOT figure out what this tone is, and it's driving me crazy. I know I can mute the whole iPad, but that's crazy. Does anyone have a suggestion of how to troubleshoot where this tone is coming from?

Heh heh. It is an app. Somewhere. Trying to tell you something. And you may go nutz looking for it. There was one case where an app kept asking a user to give it a rating, and dinged at the same time, middle of the night, if I recall. Anyway, I don't know how much stuff you may have, but look thru your apps for the guilty party. Anything with an alarm clock involved is a first place to look.

Wireless internet keeps dropping, its driving me crazy

Ok here is the story many might have heard before. My macbook pro will randomly drop the internet connection. it will still show full bars of service but wont go anywhere. I use the latest version of firefox and the issue pops up with safari also. It happens at home and anywhere i use the internet. I was at a coffee shop and it drops randomly, at my dads house so the same thing. Now if I use my pc in any of these places the internet is flawless never drops. I want to retire my pc but am forced to use it since I can't get the internet to work properly. I have sent out the macbook pro under applecare and they said they found the problem and replaced the airport on it. I got it home worked great for awhile and now the problem is back at its regular frequency. It's driving me crazy as I even have an old macbook in the house and it works great. Does anyone have a solution as I'm ripping my hair out and I don't wanna have to send my macbook pro out again. Please help!

Your personal details show that you are using 10.2.x - is this correct, if not then update your personal details? If you are using 10.5.x then you can try these simple maintenance procedures:
Repair Permissions - /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app. Start Disk Utility, select your HD and click on Repair Permissions. When finished, quit Disk Utility and then restart your computer.
Reset PRAM - hold down Option-Command-P-R keys when starting until you hear the startup chime a 2nd time.
Safe Mode Startup - hold down the Shift-key at startup until you see the login screen. When logged-in, then go to System Preferences/Network/AirPort
- click on the 'Network Name:' roll-button, select 'Join Other Network...', enter 'Network Name and select the security type you are using, and finally, enter your Password and click 'Join'.
- click on 'Advanced', TCP/IP and confirm that 'Configure IPv4:' is set to 'Using DHCP', click 'OK'.
- click the 'Apply' button and exit System Preferences.
Also, look in System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items. With a clean system you will see AirPort Base Station Agent and iTunesHelper in here. Other users have found RealPlayer Updater in here and removed it (- sign), and this stopped the network drops after restarting.
These Login Items are located at ~/Library/LaunchAgents/. If you don't want to lose your login items then move them to the Desktop and archive them. Then delete the originals - restart and see if it helps.
