System.ObjectDisposedException: Safe handle has been closed
Hi All,
I have been struggling on a similar issue as “https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/2e98ec85-9ce0-452c-89c4-3cb6c4167590/systemobjectdisposedexception-safe-handle-has-been-closed-while-trying-to-begin-a-transaction?forum=sqldatabaseengine”
in a web application based on .net framework 2.0 and sql server 2008 R2. the exception happened about 3 times per month since 2011, and when it happens, no one could connect to the web site anymore. Here is the stack trace of the error.

Appreciated if you could provide more details.

Hi julian,
As the
connect item indicates, the issue is due to .Net Framework. For quick and accurate answer, I would like to recommend you post the question in the .NET Framework
forum at
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?category=netdevelopment . It is appropriate and you can get better help.
Thanks,

Hi,
From the error description, please make sure that all the services Exchange needed are running at first. What's more, I recommend you increase timeout for ECP and then check the result.
Here is a thread about increasing timeout for ECP for your reference:

New error with upgrade jboss/tomcat: "Connection handle has been closed and is unusable"
Hi,
This error suddenly appeared when we upgraded from jboss3/tomcat5.0 to jboss4.2/tomcat5.5.
here's the usecase:
1) User clicks on report link
2) Crystal reports web componnent displays screen to fill in report parameters.
3) user enters parameters and clicks submit
4) System throws Exception
The same reports worked fine with jboss 3.2.6/tomcat 5.0. We haven't touched anything in this realm.
Log Excerpt:
09:42:18,842 INFO [datasource] Openning rowset
09:42:18,904 ERROR [reportdefinition] com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine.driverImpl.m: JDBC Error: Connection handle has been closed and is unusable

com.crystaldecisions.reports.reportdefinition.datainterface.g: JDBC Error: Connection handle has been closed and is unusable
at com.crystaldecisions.reports.reportdefinition.datainterface.d.a(Unknown Source)
To try to narrow down the problem, I've updated the jdbc configuration to
<track-statements>true</track-statements>
here's a recap:
This Boolean element specifies whether to check for unclosed statements when a connection is returned to the pool. If it is true, a warning message is issued for each unclosed statement. If the log4j category org.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.WrappedConnection has trace level enabled, a stack trace of the connection close call is logged as well. This is a debug feature that can be turned off in production.
Interestingly enough, this error appears slightly upstream:

So the question arises:
1) Is the jboss datasource overly/aggressively closing result sets?
2) or is there a coding error in CRXIR2?
thanks,
bill

OK. I found the problem along with a workaround.
</p>
<p>
<strong>The problem:</strong>
</p>
<p>
a programming practice clashes with a new jboss 'safety check'.
</p>
<p>
<strong>Programming practice:</strong>
</p>
<p>
crystal reports gets a database connection in one jsp page, then tries to use it on another jsp/servlet
</p>
<p>
<strong>Jboss safety check:</strong>
Jboss/tomcat new comes configured out-of-the-box with a 'cached connection
manager', which
</p>
<p>
"Check[s] for unclosed connections and transaction terminated checks in servlets/jsps."
</p>
<p>
<strong> Summary</strong>
</p>
<p>
In short, if a servlet/jsp ends and it leaves a database connection open, Jboss will automatically close it.
</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
<strong>Workaround:</strong><br />
Comment out two entries in these two files:
</p>
<p>
1) conf/jboss4/pe/deploy/jboss-web.deployer/server.xml
</p>
<p>
2) conf/jboss4/pe/deploy/jboss-web.deployer/META-INF/jboss-service.xml
</p>
<p>
The two entries:
</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
1)
</p>
<p>
<Valve className="org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.jca.CachedConnectionValve"<br />
cachedConnectionManagerObjectName="jboss.jca:service=CachedConnectionManager"<br />
transactionManagerObjectName="jboss:service=TransactionManager" /><br />
</p>
<p>
2)
</p>
<p>
<depends>jboss.jca:service=CachedConnectionManager</depends><br />
</p>
<p>
</p>
<p>
<strong>Comments on the workaround</strong>
</p>
<p>
The 'cached connection manager' basically makes sure that the application cleans up after bad programmers. It seems most helpful in development, load testing, or trouble shooting.
</p>
<p>
In production, you can likely comment them out with minimal
impact on the application.

is: does jdo think the ZERO is persistent capable. Clearly, it is
simply a constant, but is jdo able to handle this?
Thanks,
DanHi Patrick,
In my system.jdo file, "Money" only shows up in only place, here's the
portion of the jdo file in question:
<package name="net.nearlythere.utils">
<class name="Money">
</class>
</package>
It resides in a different package than all the other objects, in case
that matters...

Dan,
What does your .jdo file look like for Money? In particular, are you
explicitly listing ZERO as a persistent field? If so, can you try explicitly
marking it as persistence-modifier="none":
<field name="MONEY" persistence-modifier="none"/>
This might be a bug in our default persistence assignment code.

Hi Patrick,
Here's some more info on this bug. With debug code, I have now
determined that kodo things that Money.ZERO is a persistent object using
the call JDOHelper.isPersistent(Money.ZERO). I've also verified that
"price" is a persistent object -- as well it should be.
It appears that kodo is throwing the PM has been closed exception
because Money.ZERO is thought of as persistent and not part of the
current PM.
Your help is most appreciated,
Dan
Patrick Linskey wrote:
This exception is probably not happening while accessing 'amount' in
Money.ZERO, but rather while accessing 'amount' in 'price'. Additionally,
the issue is not whether or not 'price' is a persistent instance; it's
whether or not the object's PM is still open. The fact that the PM is even
being used means that the object is associated with one.
To debug, use JDOHelper.getPersistenceManager(), JDOHelper.isPersistent(),
etc.

Every morning when I "awaken" my MacBook Pro, I come to find that my Safari browser has been closed on it's own. How to fix this? I don't want to lose anything I have possibly typed in a site that I have left to finish working on for later. I checked system preferences and everything seems to be checked appropriately as well as for Safari's preferences.
I am not sure what's going on, because Safari only just recently started doing this and I haven't downloaded anything, nothing out of my regular computer routine. As well, I upgraded to Mavericks when it came out and I have the last version of it too. I can't imagine that Safari would close simply because I don't have or want to upgrade to Yosemite. I am holding off on the upgrade for a bit, because I heard Final Cut Pro 7 can't be run on Yosemite. While I could partition my drive, I really don't want to. Mavericks is fine for right now : )
Okay sooooo...back to Safari...what the! Please help and thanks for any replies ahead of time!
I Hope All Is Well In Your World : )
NynaThere's an Apple help page on the DNS problem - at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3408
The first thing to try is changing your DNS settings - and for that you need to open System Preferences, then the
Network section.
In Network - click on Advanced - then the DNS tab
under DNS servers - use the + button to enter two extra lines
either these, from google dns
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
or from OpenDNS
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
then click OK & then 'Apply'
You would need to do that seperately for the Cable (Ethernet) settings and Wireless (Airport) -
After extensive research, I have been unable to solve this problem and I'm hoping someone can explain this to me. Everytime I close the lid on my 13-inch, Early 2011 Macbook Pro, it immediately starts to write to disk (solid light on the front) for several seconds until it finally goes into Hibernate mode (flashing light on the front). The problem is, I frequently close the lid, then immediately reopen it within 15-30 seconds to resume typing or to add something I may have forgotten. Each time I reopen the lid before the light has started flashing, the MBP wakes for a moment, and allows me to resume typing. However, the Hibernation process has already begun and within 30 seconds, the screen goes blank. I have to wake it AGAIN, which is very annoying.
Based on my research, I could use pmset to change the hibernatemode to 0 (it is currently set at 3). However, I dont wish to disable hibernate mode completely; I DO want it to save a hibernation image to disk if it happens to run out of battery, so that when I resume I havent lost anything.
I then researched using standby and standbydelay to attempt a delay of the write to disk when going into standby mode. According to the pmset manual:
standby causes kernel power management to automatically hibernate a machine after it has slept for a
specified time period. This saves power while asleep
standbydelay specifies the delay, in seconds, before writing the hibernation image to disk and powering
off memory for Standby
I then set these values as below, expecting the laptop to wait 4200 seconds (70 minutes) before trying to write to disk when I close the lid:
standbydelay 4200
standby 1
Unfortunately, that did not work either. If I close the lid, the light glows solid immediately (indicating it is writing to disk), and if I try to reopen the lid before it is done, it will wake and seem fine, then 30 seconds later it goes blank right in the middle of me typing something. I usually have to click the mouse several times, or even the power button to re-wake it.
I do have InsomniaX installed, for when I want to close the lid and keep the machine awake permanently (while watching videos on airplay) and I have tried quitting that application to test this. However, when I close/reopen the lid..the result is the same. I cant keep InsomniaX enabled all the time, because it will never go to sleep when I truly want it to. If I am not using InsomniaX, I just want to delay hibernation until he lid has been closed for a set period (say 15 minutes or more). If I have not reopened the lid within that time, I want it to write to disk and go into hibernation mode. And if the battery runs all the way out, I want it to go into hibernation mode before shutting down so I can recover.
I would appreciate any help in solving this problem. Also any insight as to why the standbydelay setting above did not work. Thanks!Whats with the MBP lid? Dont close it ... if you're so concerned! Just go to System Preferences/Energy Saver and set it to how you like it.

}Hi. What version of weblogic, and can you print the whole stacktrace?
That way I'll know which object is already closed. This hints at an
already-fixed bug, but I'm not sure yet... And tell me what happens
if you close your result set after you do your call to next(). Lastly,
you can save some DBMS traffic if you change the query to:
"SELECT 1 FROM myTable WHERE ID = ?"
Then regardless of how wide the table is, and whether the table data
is in DBMS memory, as long as there's an index on ID, the query only
needs to use the index, not the data page to answer. If there's an
index entry for your ID value, you'll get one row with 1 in it, else
nothing.
thanks

My card was working fine until i tried to update my drivers today. Now, no matter what version driver I attempt to install I get the error message "Killap
ps.
exe has stopped working and has been closed." when it begins to install the drivers. I've attempted the beta driver, the latest stable driver, and even installing the drivers off the disk. I even tried using system restore to go back to before I attempted my first update today, only to have system restore fail!? I have an X-Fi Fatalty Champion card, and am running Vista Ultimate 32 bit. Now that this has occured, I'm stuck without sound. Before you even ask, yes, I'm using the disk labled for vista that came with my card. Window's built in sound drivers (which worked when i first plugged in the card before I even installed the software a few months ago), dont even attempt to kick in. Help? Please?!I was having the same problem. Earlier in the week, I was able to drag a few photos to the upload folder and they synced correctly. Yesteday, I dragged different photos, and I got the "applephotostream.exe has stopped working" error.
The solution - for me, at least! - was to reduce the size of the pictures being uploaded to the photostream. While all of the pictures were jpegs, the first set were ca. 800K (3800 x 2500), and the second set were ca. 2.5 MB (4000 x 2000). When I reduced the resolution of the last set by a factor of 4 (ca. 600 K, 2000 x 1500), they uploaded without a hitch.
Based on this admittedly sketchy experiment, it looks like Apple has a max picture size limit, apparently based on file size rather than picture resolution). Perhaps < 1 MB? To be rigorous, I should complete the experiment - leave the resolution of the second set of pictures alone and reduce file size by reducing jpeg quality.
Has anyone heard about a picture file size limit? -

Natarajan.VHi,
What version of CRM you are using? Does this happen when you open the case record?
We have faced the similar for Account record and was solved using below query. I am not sure about incident.
Update ACC
SET ACC.Merged = 0
from AccountBase ACC
WHERE ACC.merged is null
Do you have case merge option enabled on incident entity? As per the MS it is enabled for CRM 2013 SP1 and CRM 2015.

At the start of EJB call, we get a PersistenceManager and we use this PM throughout this call. In the "finally" section of the EJB call, we close the PM. The stacktrace doesn't make sense since pm.close is called only after the other queries have been executed. Also this exception doesn't occur everytime. It happens once in a while. And it doesnt always happen in the same call. Sometimes this exception is thrown when another ejb call is made. Can the same persistencemanager instance be returned to two ejb invocations at the same time? Does Kodo have a PM pool?
Thanks in advance.
VinodThis is Kodo 3.3.4. The issue is I don't know when this is happening. It doesn't happen always. One scenario when it happened always was this.
I have a jsp page which does open a PM and close it in the end. This is a data setup page.
My application is a Swing based application. Sometimes I get the exact same exception as in my original post, with the cause pointed to the pm.close() in the JSP page. BUT THESE ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT CALLS WITH NO RELATION TO EACH OTHER.
I temporarily solved it by commenting out pm.close() in the jsp page. But I am not sure whether this is the right solution. The stack trace is as below:

SQLException Object has been closed
Hi!
Brief description of my webapp:
I have two pages, page1.jsp and page2.jsp.
Page1 contains an row set (JdbcRowSetXImpl) with database information, some Text fields binded to the dbcolums and a Hyperlink pointing on page2.
Page2 contains an row set (JdbcRowSetXImpl) with database information and shows the information in a Data Table.
What do I want to do ?
I want to open page2 from the Hyperlink in page1.
If I open page2, using the Hyperlink in page1, in the same browser window everything works fine.
Here is the problem:
If I open page2, using the Hyperlink in page1, in a new browser window (with JavaScript onclick windows.open method) I sometimes get the error SQLException [Sun][Oracle JDBC Driver]Object has been closed, se *) below.
How can i solv the problem and what am i doing wrong?

.....Hm - your rowset stuff sounds fine. I wish I knew more about the hyperlink components - what you're encountering sounds strange.
Just one other rowset consideration, since that's where your error seems to come from - if a rowset is bound to a datatable component - your code should operate on the dataTableModel, not on the rowsets themselves.... (once the orginal binding is set in the constructor). Did you know about that? Not sure it is the root of your issue - just maybe related.

I bought Pages ages ago using an iTunes account that no longer works as the email address has been closed down. How can I now update my Pages app, if it asks me to sign in using this now defunct email address?
All apps are always tied to the account from whaich they were purchased and will always have to be updated using that account.
Just because the e-mail account is shut down, has nothing to do with the itunes account. Why did you create a new account? Why not just change the e-mail associated with the old account?
