System on Module Performance

It is early days for the System on Module (SOM), and we are eargerly waiting for our first developers kit, but perhaps someone has had the fortune of testing the SOM already, and could give us an idea of the performance level we can excpect from it? In particular we are interested in how it compares to the cFP-2220 on numeric operations, but I do not expect anyone to have done a 1-1 comparison between those.
We have some extremely heavy number crunching to do (tomographic analysis), which takes the poor old cFP-2220 several hours to complete (another low-power SBC alternative in-house is even 10 times slower than that(!)). A modern desktop computer is able to finish the same job in a couple of minutes. I do not expect the SOM to get anywhere close to the desktop PC, but any rough idea on where in-between it might land?

The Zynq-7020 processor on the SOM is also used on the cRIO-9068 CompactRIO controller.  When that controller was released, we published some bechmarks relative to the cRIO-9074, which uses a 400MHz PPC processor similar to the cFP-2220.  Those benchmarks can be observed here:
NI cRIO-9068: Performance and Throughput Benchmarks
As a general guideline, we estimate typical applications will see roughly a 4x performance improvement on the cRIO-9068 (with Zynq processor) compared to previous generation systems with 400MHz PPC processors.
You may not see the exact same improvements, but expect similar results from your upgrade from Compact FieldPoint to the SOM. Unfortunately, we don't have a published benchmark on raw computational power; the benchmarks published demonstrate system performance improvements due to faster processing and other system-level improvements (such as faster DMA engines, faster memory access, improved Ethernet speed, more efficient OS thread scheduler, etc.)

  • Mail system access module error

    I have vista 64 and I installed Desktop manager 4.7 with media and every time it stats up I get this message "The mail system access module found at C:\programs Files (x86)\Research In Motion\Blaskberry\MailDerver.DLL is incompatible with this version of the desktop Tools.  Please reinstall the Desktop tools."  I removed and re-installed it like 4 times now and I still get the same thing. How do I fix this??
    Thank you for any and all help I can get.

    If found something on another form that talked about this error, but it was from 2005. It mentioned happening with the Desktop Manager 3.6. The resolution was to perform a clean uninstall of the Desktop Manager, rather than just uninstalling it.
    Here are the steps to perform the clean uninstall steps
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
    Also if that doesn't work try installing Desktop Manager 4.6, or 4.7 without Media Manager to see if it makes a difference.

  • A system recovery was performed on my pc. When I re-installed firefox all my bookmarks had disappeared. This happened more than a wk ago so the solution of recovery for 5 days didn't work. Is there any way to recover them from more than 7 days ago?

    On Jun 19 my pc wouldn't load Windows & HP decided to do a system recovery on my pc on Jun 20.
    Prior to the system recovery being performed all of my files & programs were burned onto discs.
    A few days after the recovery was performed I re-installed Firefox. It was the same day that the newest version of Firefox was released. I was unable to reload the version I was previously using (I believe that it was version 4).
    After re-installing Firefox I discovered that I lost all of my Firefox bookmarks.
    I thought that the bookmarks would be on the back-up discs but I can't find them on the system recovery files that I loaded onto my pc.
    I am using Windows 7 Home Premium. I have a HP G60 series laptop.

    Thanks for the info.
    I did find the folder as described above. Under Profiles the sub-directory I found was: t6jyvmtf.default
    There are 2 files in that sub-directory:
    blocklist - which is an XML document &
    bookmarks - which is Firefox document
    When I selected bookmarks the document that opened does not contain (to my knowledge) the bookmarks.
    The heading for the page is '''''Bookmarks''''' & right underneath that heading is '''Get Bookmark Add-ons'''
    Underneath that is a heading '''Bookmarks Toolbar Folder''' with the following under it:
    Add bookmarks to this folder to see them displayed on the Bookmarks Toolbar, Getting Started & Latest Headlines
    That is followed by the heading '''Mozilla Firefox''' which has the following underneath it:
    Help and Tutorials, Customize Firefox, Get Involved & About Us
    I checked each of the items that could be selected but none of them had my bookmarks.
    I also checked the blocklist XML document - it opened Windows Internet Explorer with what appears to be programming language (although I could be wrong). At the top of the document it says - ?xml version="1.0" ?
    followed by
    - <blocklist xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/2006/addons-blocklist">
    Should I be selecting one of the above to find the bookmarks & I'm just not seeing it?

    For all those order types entered in the custom table the  system will not perform any material listing check, regardless if the material is existing in the material listing.
    Can you please tell me how to do this through coding???Any particular exit or where can i code this.???

    Swagat,
          Thank you for your response, what I am still not getting is - even in manual transfers via LT10 shouldn't the system restrict the movements to certain storage types? If you think from the shopfloor perspective the WM material movements are done at WM level only - meaning moving materials from one storage type to another and LT10 is widely used as it is one step tcode.
    I know we can restrict movements when storage class is assigned in search strategy, but this applies only to hazardous materials. The material in question is not hazardous so I am still thinking if there is any way to restrict material movements.
    Do you have any documentation link which mentions search strategies are not taken into consideration during manual transfer? If yes please send that would be helpful.
    Once again thanks for your time.

  • System call module questions.

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a system call module for solaris 2.6 (sparc).
    I am trying to avoid useing the /etc/name_to_sysnum file because I dont want my system calls to be dependant on a userland file. What I have done is this.
    static struct modlmisc modlmisc = {
    &mod_miscops,
    "Einstien system call driver"
    static struct modlinkage modlinkage = {
    MODREV_1,
    &modlmisc,
    NULL
    int
    _init(void)
    int error;
    if ((error = mod_install(&modlinkage)) < 0)
    return error;
    sysent[SYS_secctl].sy_narg = 6;
    sysent[SYS_secctl].sy_callc = (longlong_t (*)()) test;
    sysent[SYS_secctl].sy_flags = SE_LOADED | SE_NOUNLOAD | SE_ARGC;
         return 0;
    And this works, the only side effect is that my system calls do not have return values. Is there something else that I need to do (without makeing a specfic system call driver that depends on /etc/name_to_sysnum) to have correct return values ?

    Hi
    Thank you for your response.
    I have tried with removed with flow control true and test
    with minus and flow control: my inter face taking 33 seconds to transfer 31658 records and now without minus and with flow control: true it is taking 27 seconds to transfer same amount of count
    I have tried with without minus and with flow control: flase and it is taking 23 seconds to do the same job
    I have removed the minus and added one duplicate record at source DB but it is not moving to E$ table and getting failes at Merge Row step with error mention above.e removed minu from
    I have removed minus clause from load data into flow table I$ step in KM and while testing it is giving same issue.
    with out minus, the KM will throw the duplicated records into E$ table (flow control is true)
    In target DB, we have added B-Tree indexs, I have checked before that

  • Optimizing system for best performance/stability and a custom kernel

    I have ArchLinux running on a MacBook 4.1 (early 2008), and it's running very well so far. But I would like to optimize it for best performance and stability (but not at the cost of losing 'graphical interface' quality). I want to compile a custom kernel, and I actually did once, but didn't do it well (and removed it), so I need some help from experts to tell me what should I disable or enable when compiling a custom kernel.
    I will post dmesg and lspci (and rc.conf) here, but if you need any other information, please tell me.
    Thanks.

    This might not help you a lot, but if you want a stable system, try using packages from the repo wherever possible, look at the news before you update your system and don't mess things up (like bad configuration etc.).
    When it comes to performance, you won't gain much by compiling linux by yourself! Just use the linux package from [core] or if you want a bit more performance, install the ck-kernel from
    [repo-ck]
    Server = http://repo-ck.com/$arch
    (this has to go to the bottom of /etc/pacman.conf)
    (use that one which is best for your cpu (in your case this might be the package linux-ck-corex).
    Hmmm, Linux-ck-corex doesn't even load.. I am now trying to install the generic one. Hope it works.
    Edit: I will first try linux-lqx...

  • Function Module performance in Crystal Reports - Best practices

    Hi all,
    We are following a function module based approach for our crystal reporting needs. We tried to follow an infoset approach, but found that most of the critical fields required for reports were retrieved from function modules and bapis.
    Our reports contain some project filters/parameter fields based on which the task reports would be created. I was wondering what would be the best approach/best practices to be considered while designing the FM so as not to impact the crystal report performance?
    We created a sample FM in our test system with just the table descriptions ( without the input parameters) which would retrieve all the projects and found that crystal reports crashed while trying to retrieve all the records. I am not sure if this is the right approach since this is our project in using FMs for crystal reports.
    Thank you
    Vinnie

    yes. We did try following the infoset approach against the tables however since our project reports contain long text fields and status texts ( retrieved via FMs), we opted for the FM approach. Do you know how texts can be handles from ABAP to Crystal reports?

  • How to Measure Function Module Performance?

    Please can you tell me how I can measure the performance and trace the actions of a Function Module in R/3?
    The function module in R/3 is run when a user calls a WebDynpro action from a WebDynpro screen within the SAP Portal.
    I have tried running a trace on a user (ST05) but that only shows table actions (e.g. reads/fetch etc.). Also it does not appear in ST04 or ST03N. I would like to know how long the program actually takes to run.
    Thanks.
    Paul

    Hi,
    if I want to measure the runtime required to run some Abap, I use SE30. However i used it only for normal Dynpro application, not WebDynpro.
    The detail level of the created trace can be configured. The aggregation level should be set to "Full" or "By call" at the beginning. Disabling aggregation leads to huge trace files.
    You can select which statements should be traced. If you disable an option it's runtime is not lost but add to the traced action in the next level. If for example "Open SQL" is disabled, the time used by it is added into the net time of the method, function module of subroutine. Otherwise if "Open SQL" is enabled the net time of a function module does not include SQL time. SQL time is then listed separately.
