System performance ECC 6.0 - Oracle 10.2.0.4

Hi,
There are any person that know if a central installation production system work better in a x64 or SPARC Solaris 10 OS.
Example machines Sun M4000 and X4640.
Thank you.
Sisco

> In reality I don't need the 25000 SAPs that provide the x4540 but my partner urge me to begin to use x64 platform for the advantege that offers (price, workload, etc...).
We use Solaris x64 for (mainly) Java installations on certified HP hardware, it works great.
> Change the platform suposses to me double the SAN disk space and recreate all the filesystem for the change from Big Endian to Little Endian Link: [Note 552464|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1lcyZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1310720], heterogeneous system copy, etc...
True.
> If I don't change the platform only I need configure OS becouse all the database and binares reside in the SAN.
That's also true - but you'll get more power - and this is only a one-time thing to do.
> I need make sure that the change are worth the trouble.
You can get a test/evaluation system from Sun for some weeks with your desired configuration - and try it out.
> Note: Excuse me for my english, I believe that he's horrible.
It's good, don't worry!

    Measured in System     162     119     6     287
    1.2. Performance Evaluation
The measured times are compared against reference times to provide a rating.
    - If the number of dialog steps in an hour is less than 1000 this hour is not considered.
    - If the total number of transaction steps is less than 24000, the rating for the task is not performed and a blue line is entered in the table.
The table below shows that a performance problem is expected for the task that is rated YELLOW.

    1.3. Transaction Profile Check
The following tables show the response times and the number of dialog steps for the transactions that cause the highest workload in your system. NOTE: A business transaction normally consists of more than one dialog step. As a rough estimate, the actual number of business transactions that are executed in your system is approximately one third of the total dialog steps shown. (Transaction CPIC/RFC is not taken into account.)
    1.3.1. Transactions by Total Workload

  • System Refresh for  ECC & PI in Oracle MCOD database

    Hi All,
We are running our ECC system on linux and oracle. Our ECC Development system and PI Develeopment system is running on one box and on the same database (MCOD).  The same is with the ECC production and PI production running on the same system and same database (MCOD).
Now our requirement is to refresh the ECC development system from ECC PRD system. But we don't want to do any changes in PI system. One option is that we can export the DEV Pi schema by running SAPINST and than refresh the ECC DEV system with ECC PRD system.
After this we will install fresh PI where it will ask for DB export we will give the path of the PI export which we have taken. But i am not sure this is possible or not. Is this possible??
Or Is there any other easy possible ways to do it?
    Thanks,
    Bhanu

This is one big drawback of MCOD, you will always copy all. What makes things even more difficult is the fact, that a PI is basically an MCOD itself - it's ABAP + Java - which must both be copied. So you would need
    - export the full PI system (ABAP + Java) - which is a homogeneous system copy Part I
    - copy the database
    - fiddle on database level to delete both PI schemas (ABAP + Java)
    - install a new PI as homogeneous system copy Part II
Technically it's feasible but I wonder, that if you already try to separate the instances, why not install a second ORACLE_HOME on the QA (and later also on PRD) so you can in the future copy the system independently from each other?

  • Can UCCHECK be performed on already UNICODE migrated system during ECC upgr

    Hi there,
Can UCCHECK be performed on already UNICODE migrated system during ECC upgrade?
If NO, why? What is the technical reason?
    Prakash

    Hi,
    first unicode means
Unicode is a 16-bit code to represent universal character set, which is used to facilitate a better exchange of data between different systems.
    for uncheck
The transaction UCCHECK is used to find Unicode related issues. You can use transaction UCCHECK to examine a Unicode program set for syntax errors without having to set the program attribute "Unicode checks active" for every individual program. From the list of Unicode syntax errors, you can go directly to the affected programs and remove the errors. It is also possible to automatically create transport requests and set the Unicode program attribute for a program set.
why you are checking second time.

  • Refreshing R/3 4.7 system from ECC 6.0 system

    HI Experts,
We recently upgraded the system from R/3 4.7 (BASIS release 620) to ECC 6.0 (BASIS release 701). For one of the test system, a cross version refresh was performed. (Sandbox system was in 4.7 and production system is ECC 6.0).
When the refresh was completed, we were not able to login in 000 client using any of the user ids including the standard ones. Seems like all the user ids were deleted in 000 client. Then we changed the sap* login parameter and restarted the system to reset the SAP* login. Later the user master was imported from production system to test system's 000 client.
Are there any special steps to be carried out to prevent the above said incident?
What are the special steps that needs to be taken care of in the scenario of 'cross version' refresh.
Please let me know your inputs on this.
    Thank you.
    Balaji Singh

    Hi Mark,
Yes the SAP Kernel was replaced.
    OS - HP UX B.11.31
    DB - ORACLE 10.2.0.4
There were no issues during the start of DB, appl after refresh. We imported the User master in the productive client that was backed up before refresh and imported the same after refresh. coincidentall, after the import of user master in productive client, this particular issue occurred in client 000. could this be a reason for deletion of user master tables in 000 client?

  • SRM 4.0 (oracle 9.2) and ECC 6.0 (oracle 10.2) compatiblity

Dear Experts, have a question reqarding compatibility of SRM 4.0 (SRM SERVER 500) on Oracle 9.2 with ECC 6.0 (Oracle 10.x).
Currently we are on SRM 4.0 (Oracle 9.2) and R/3 4.6c (oracle 9.2) and we wanted to know if SRM 4.0 will work with ECC 6.0 on Oracle 10.2. Ours is Classic Scenario and the PR/PO are all created on the backend R/3 system for the SRM shopping cart.
Also the same concern for BW 3.5 (Oracle 9.2) with ECC 6.0 (Oracle 10.2). Currently they both use Oracle 9.2. We will not be using the BI Component in ECC , but will continue to use the BW which is running on its own instance. Also I could not find any SAP document that clearly states that the Oracle versions could be different for different components. Please help clarify and direct me to the documentation link.  Thanks
    Regards
    Gabriel Bertrand

If you refer to the SRM Master guide under service.sap.com, you will get the clear picture.

  • SQL Query With Like Operator - Performance is very poor - Oracle Apps Table

    Hi,
I'm querying one of the Oracle Applications Standard Table. The performance is very slow when like operator is used in the query condition. The query uses a indexed column in the where clause.
    The query is..
    select * from hz_parties
    where upper(party_name) like '%TOY%'
In the above case, It is not using the index and doing full table scan. I have checked the explain plan and the cost is 4496.
    select * from hz_parties
    where upper(party_name) like 'TOY%'
If I remove the '%' at the begining of the string, the performance is good and it is using the index. In this case, the cost is 5.
Any ideas to improve the performance of the above query. I have to retrieve the records whose name contains the string. I have tried hints to force the use of index. But it is of no use.
    Thanks,
    Rama

If new indexes are disallowed, not a lot of good ones, no.
If you know what keyword(s) are going to be searched for, a materialized view might help, but I assume that you're searching based on user input. In that case, you'd have to essentially build your own Text index using materialized views, which will almost certainly be less efficient and require more maintenance than the built-in functionality.
There may not be much you could do to affect the query plan in a reasonable way. Depending on the size of the table, how much RAM you're willing to throw at the problem, how your system is administered, and what Oracle Apps requires/ prohibits in terms of database configuration, you might be able to force Oracle to cache this table so that your full table scans are at least more efficient.

  • After compressed the database table affect the system performance

There is a very big database table in my system called MSEG. It is about 910G and the wasted tablespace is about 330G. I want to compress the table, but the table is written and deleted frequently. will it affect the system performance if I compress the table. Or I can only select reorganize the dababase table avoid it affect the system performance? Thanks.

    Hi Huiyong,
If you talk about table compression, it cannot be done online. we need to do this with a planned downtime. Table compression has some percentage of overhead on CPU. Refer SAP note for
    1289494
    FAQ: Oracle compression
    1436352
Oracle Database 11g Advanced Compression for SAP Systems
If you talk about online table reorg, yes definitely there would be impact on user performance.
As the table size is very big it may take some days or hours to perform online Reorg.
Other faster method is to perform table export import which is faster than online reorg. But it will again require downtime .
    Hope this helps.

  • Stock value is not getting updated in APO system From ECC automatically

    Hi All,
Stock value is not getting updated in APO system From ECC automatically but if we do it manually from transaction CFM2 it will get updated.
for this we are using EXIT_SAPLCSTK_001.
I am using VL10A for delivery and VL06G for PGI
I have also checked integration model for material and stock.
Please help me out as it is very urgent.

    Hi,
for transferring the stock data from R/3 to APO automatically, you need to have the integration model for material and stock activated.
    please check the same.
if this does not help, let me know in detail the steps which you are following..

  • How do I block an ad that opens up a new Firefox window and keeps telling me my system performance is poor? I can't even capture the link.

This particular ad, supposedly from a Windows Certified Partner, opens in a second Firefox window and keeps flashing the message that my System Performance is Poor, wanting me to click on their ad and let them do whatever nasty things they want to my system. I have not been able to capture the path but next time it comes up, I will write down all that I can see.
If I have closed my main Firefox screen first, and then close out this ad, the next time I open Firefox, the ad opens and all my standard tabs are gone, requiring me to reopen each one seperately (Facebook, Google, etc).

Just to address the last point: check your History menu to see whether you have the Restore Previous Session option and use that if you can. If that is grayed out or doesn't restore everything, check the Recently Closed Windows and Recently Closed Tabs lists for other pages.
The unwanted window may be generated by an add-on. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Any improvement?
Here are some other things to check:
    (1) user.js file that changes Firefox startup behavior and overrides your preferences. This article describes how to track that down and delete it if you have one: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
    (2) Possible hijacked shortcut. Check the "target" of the desktop icon you use to start Firefox to see whether it lists the unwanted page. To do that:
right-click the icon > Properties > Shortcut tab
For 64-bit Windows 7, the Target should be no more and no less than this:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
    (3) Possible undisclosed bundle items. If you have installed any free software recently, check your Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a program for surprises. If you click the "Installed on" column head to group by date, it is easier to spot bundled junk. Remove everything suspicious or unrecognized.
    (4) Supplemental clean up scans. Our support article lists tools other Firefox users have found helpful: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
    Hopefully that cures it.
