System Power

My system seems to be running a little slow.  I bought a macbook pro almost 3 years ago and it has a 2.4GHz duo core processor and 4 GB of RAM.  As I begin to work more with my photos in LR and photoshop I have noticed my machine works a bit slower than I remember it did when I first got it.  Only over the past year have I really used Adobe software.  Mostly I am just wondering if software requires a much more powerful system or if there is something I can do to make it run a little faster.  I really notice it if I have multiple programs open, for example LR, PS, ID, or AI.  If I have anyone of these open along with one or two of the others along with a web browser and maybe my mail app it just seems to lag really bad as in work really slow.  I don't really understand the inner workings of a computer and just wonder if there is anything I can clean up to make it work any faster or if a new system is the only answer.
Thanks

  • Peak Power and System power

I was trying to evaluate the difference between the Creative Inspire T5400 and the newer T5900 5.1 speaker systems. At first I was led to believe that the *only* difference is that they have placed the centre speaker on it's side for the newer T5900's, as all RMS ratings are the same for both sets at 74w RMS (22w sub, 4x 8w sats and 20w central). However, I noticed this difference in the discription on the Creative US site: For the earlier T5400 set, they say 74w RMS with 5w 'Total System Power'......and for the T5900 set, they say: 74w RMS with 48w 'Peak Power'. So what is the story here? 'Peak Power' I understand, as this is twice the total RMS wattage (2 x 74w = 48w). But what is this 5w 'Total System Power' of the T5400's? Where has this figure come from? And what is the difference here....is one set more powerful than the other? If so, which is it's I bought the T5900's thinking they were better in some way other than the new horizontal positioning of the centre speaker - but I could have gotten the T5400's a tad cheaper. I hope this new horizontal centre speaker is not some gimmick to mask a downgrade of some kind - as it's widely known Creative has been making succesful attempts to lower it's manufacturing costs. Anyone know the score here?
    Confoooooozed!:smileyindifferent:

I wouldn't worry about it - if I had the T5400's, I would not consider 'upgrading' to T5900 as they are more or less the same speaker system. The center speaker is on it's side - that is all. If anything, your T5400's will be made to a superior standard - Creative are known to have been cutting manufacturing costs recently.
I was immensly dissapointed to find no gold connectors on my T5900's, but my old, supposedly 'inferior' Inspire 5300's do have gold connectors. Also, the speaker cables on my T5900's are very thin - unlike the cables on my old, 'inferior' Inspire 5300's. This is very bad on Creative's part and I hope they realize that I will not automatically turn to them when I next need audio equiptment. They should be making their products better each time, not cutting their own costs in the interests of corperate greed. If the moderators on this forum don't encourage this kind of talk - I would ask them to take note of this: Some things will not go un-questioned by their loyal customers. I have spent hundreds of pounds on their goods and so I have a right to speak up about their customer unfriendly practises.
Of course, if you want to upgrade - go for a 6.1 or 7.1 system...or really push the boat out and buy the Gigaworks - which are made to a very good standard! Also, to be fair to Creative again, I can highly reccomend the DDTS-100 decoder - I got mine recently and I'm more than happy with it. It's a great thing to accompany any of their 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 systems.
    Regards.

Hi, I have a Miix 3 1030. I have noticed that when charging the device I keep getting a message displayed 'System power is about to overload. USB functions and LCD backlight will be restrained'
Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

    Thanks for the reply.
i have had it happen when its sat in the keyboard dock, out of the dock, with usb devices plugged in and when its simply sat, screen on doing nothing and with nothing other than the power connected.
All drivers are up to date as is the lenovo transitions app that is displaying this warning.
the other annoying thing I have found is that if the tablet is completely powered down, it will charge to 100%. However, when plugged in, it will not charge passed 95%. This happens even if the tablet is asleep, closed face down in the dock.

  • Z87-GD65 - how to make E2200 network port active in S5 system power state?

My question is how do I make the E2200 network port active in the S5 system power state on the MSI Z87-GD65 motherboard?
I require Wake on LAN (magic packet) for my computer but after shutdown the network port is inactive hence the WOL packet can not wake the computer. I have checked and activated the following items:
    On the motherboard
    - EuP 2013 = disabled
    - Resume by PCI-E device = enabled
In Windows 8.1 E2200 network port settings
    - Wake on Magic Packet = enabled
    - Energy efficient network = disabled
After I shutdown (power state S5) the network port activity lights go dark so I assume the port has shutdown as well. On my previous Gigabyte motherboard the network port stayed active allowing WOL packets to be transmitted to turn on the pc. Have I missed a setting on this new motherboard? My workmate also bought the same motherboard and has the same issue.

    Success!
MSI support responded and listed the correct settings and it is working!
    So the correct settings are:
    In the motherboard BIOS:
    - LAN Option ROM = Enabled
    - EuP 2013 = Disabled
    - Resume by PCI-E device = Enabled
In Windows 8.1 E2200 network port settings:
    Under Power Management:
    - Allow this device to wake the computer = ON
    - Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer = ON
    Under Advanced:
    - Energy Efficient Ethernet = Disabled
    - Shutdown Wake Up = Enabled
    - Wake on Magic Packet = Enabled
All working fine now. All I was missing was the "Shutdown Wake Up" setting. I hope this helps anyone else who has this excellent motherboard.

  • Repaired cfp-421 relay boards not working in a cfp-2000 System - power light off

Hi, we are using a cfp-2000 as a control system for various biology related experiments and prototypes.
The first configuration was controlling valves & pumps. I recently took that configuration apart after it had been sitting unused for a while and started to re-configure for a different application to control lights. I had trouble right off the bat, couldn't talk to the cfp-2000 controller. I sent it in for repair\replace and then went through a little work to re-setup in MAX. I got the IP connection working and I can turn on\off the leds on the cfp-2000.
Then I found that the three cfp-421 relay boards were not working. So I sent them in for repair. They came back but when I add them to the Remote System in MAX, I can't communicate with them. There is a message indicating that they are not connected (I don't have the exact wording but can get it if that will help). The Ready indicator is on at the cfp-421 modules but the Power indicator is off. I tried all three returned modules individually with no luck.
Any help is appreciated. We have spent quite a lot of money on repairs and have fallen behind on the project.
    Thank you. Kevin

    Thanks for responding.
    MAX version 3.1.0.3021
    Fieldpoint drivers 5.02
The messages are "The module or item addressed does not exist" and "The device is offline. Make sure the device is connected and its power is on".
If I reset the cfp-2000, all relays activate on the cfp-421 (the eight indicator lamps light) for a few seconds and then go off.
I wonder if something is broken in the backplane because the cfp-421
    power light is off.

  • Inspire 2.1 2500 system power adapter

    Hi,
I got and Inspire 2.1 2500 speaker set from someone but there wasn't a power adapter. The specs say that it uses a 12VAC, 2.9A adapter. Does anyone know if a regular 2VAC adapter from Radio Shack will work? Lofton

I face a similar problem with my Inspire 2.1 3300. My right speaker--well, the speaker I put in the right speaker port in the subwoofer--has shorted out recently. I've had the system for around 2-3 years, and while I expect this to happen I would like to attempt repair anyway. I checked the connections at least fourty times, and yet this speaker is functional, breaking up, or very very quiet. I've moved the speaker cord around and found I can get some signal. I'm assuming this problem is in the speaker itself, after inspecting the woofer.
Until my friend looks at it, I can't help you except agree on the situation. I'll get another post in here soon.

  • X4200 M2 main system power goes out even with UPS

    Hi,
I was curious of which direction I should go to find out why when we get a brown out/black out the main system goes down immediately but the power lights blink and it appears to be on to some degree. I thought the UPS wasn't sufficient to sustain it but am wondering if there is something else causing the system to go down since the front panel lights blink. The 2 lights blink yellow and I believe they are the power light and the light to the left of the power light that has a caution symbol by it.
Any time the power blinks the X4200 M2 goes down fast. I don't know that even a large UPS will stop this from happening. Any direction you can give would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I'm stuck with the same problem. Have you managed to resolve it?
    Thank you,
    Lovro

  • Recovery system power was shutoff while running. now debug error always pops up.

I have a Hp 65 notebook. When was running the recovery system the power was shutoff. Now Debug error pops up  at the bottom it says abort-retry-ignore. When I hit any of those squares. The next box says systems recovery options. Below that it says. The installed program cannot start. Click ok to turn off computer.

    Stevealex,
    Okay, no problem.
What you are going to need to do is order a set of operating system disk for this computer. Since you were in the middle of a recovery and the computer turned off, that crashed the process and it didn't  successfully re-write the operating system and drivers back to the computer.
To provide you the best way to order those disks, I need the full make and model of the computer you have. You provided HP 65 but I was unable to locate that notebook anywhere. Here is a link that might help you find the information.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

  • System power shutdowns in Premiere

My system is suffering complete shutdowns as if the power cable was pulled out. It sometimes happens when trying to boot up but always happens in a matter of minutes when I'm editing in Premiere, even with just 2 tracks and minmal effects.  A timeline will play fine for an hour but once I start trimming or moving clips it's lights out. I've now had this happen in three different projects so know it isn't related to a particular file or media asset.  A complex 20 sec.,30 layer After Effects comp has no problems, in fact no other program causes this to happen,
    Notes:
-- No hardware or software changes were made right before the problem developed.
-- The entire CS6 suite was reinstalled after the problem first showed up.
-- If due to hardware like a bad power supply (and I found some instances of that on the HP forum) why only in Premiere and only when making edits?
Thanks for any clues or thoughts,
    David

Because video editing is a "heavy" load on the computer hardware

  • Boot up hangs at system power on(all LED's of D bracket are on.

Building a new computer for a friend.  915P Combo-FR mother board with 1 gig DDR 400 RAM, 3 GHz Prescott Socket 775 P4, MSI GeForce 660 PCI Express with 256 RAM, Thermatake Xaser III Lanfire with 420 Watt powersupply.  When powering up no beeps or nothing just all four lights on D-bracket?  Reinstalled the CPU, and everything looks OK.  The only question is the CPU fan.  This is on so tight the motherboard bulges, when looking from the back of the board, I don't remember this with my 478 socket installation.  Anywhere to start?

I installed RAM from my computer into my freinds witch has the same DDR 400 RAM and the boot up is the same.  I am currently using the new RAM in my computer with no problems at all.  I already changed out the motherboard and RAM and still not boot.  I rebooted the computer with the video card out of it and still no change.  This is why the CPU is on my list.  I don't think it is the RAM because I have changed it out as well.  Don't know what else to do.

  • APEX Listener 2.0.1 does not restart on power-up of system

    APEX Listener 2.0.1
    APEX 4.2.2
    Oracle EE 11gR2
    Linux RHEL 6.3
    GlassFish 3.1.0
After rebooting my Linux server with the above configuration, the APEX Listener is down and needs to be restarted via GlassFish. What may be causing this?  How can I get the APEX Listener via GlassFish to restart on system power-up?
NOTE:  I did not have this issue when using APEX Listener 1.4 with the same GlassFish server.
    Thank you.

Found the issue.  chkconfig was starting GlassFish before the database was up and running.  Changed chkconfig parameters in startup scripts. Works fine.

  • When I power up my system. I get the following error message: Video controoller [VGA Compatible] The system won't them find the driver and I cannot reslove the problem or remove it. Any help to do so would be most welcome

This is not a FireFox problem as it starts before I open any browser. As the system powers up. The hardware is yellowed, but if I delete it. It just reloads it and the same error comes back, next time the system power up as before.
The system is asking for a hardware disk that I do not have to give it. Any help would be most welcome.

  • System auxiliary power mode

    Hello.
Someone can explain me what is "system auxiliary power mode"?
I've searched on documentation but I didn't find it.
I don't think that is redundancy, because from "show power redundancy-mode" command I can see:
    cat6513#sh power redundancy-mode
system power redundancy mode = redundant
    But from "show power" command:
system auxiliary power mode = off
system auxiliary power redundancy operationally = non-redundant
    system primary connector power limit =   5880.00 Watts (140.00 Amps @ 42V)
system auxiliary connector power limit = 0 Watt
    system primary power used =              2766.96 Watts (65.88 Amps @ 42V)
system auxiliary power used =            0 Watt
    What is this?
    Thanks
    Daniele

    Hello,
    Trust you are doing great.
This issue is observed whenever there is an hardware issue between the communication between Power supply and the Chassis.
Please go ahead and replace the Power supply unit.
Aside, you may check if there are any bend pins or any other deformation in the power/fan slot.
