Yes.  Or, if your Mac came with Snow Leopard, call AppleCare.  They can send duplicates for a nominal fee.
Don't assume you can or wish to upgrade to Lion immediately; make sure all your hardware and apps will be compatible first.

  • Classic in System Preferences, please Help.

I installed Tiger and in system preferences there wasn't classic in the system section
but yesterday i downloaded a font (OS 9 font,i didn't know) and classic started, but i haven't any OS folder then i closed it.
but...since i've acidentally stared Classic in the system preferences there is the classic menu, only in my user...how do i delete it?
i tried preferences and chaces but nothing happened

If you started in OS 9, you must have an OS 9 folder. Go to Spotlight and type in Classic and OS 9 and delete the folders you find there. I'm not sure why you would want to delete it, there are still some things that only work in 9 and it doesn't hurt your computer to have it.

  • The Apple trackpad won't except the "pinch open and close" command on Firefox version 4. It is configured correctly in the system preferences. HELP!

I am using the Apple trackpad with Firefox version 4. The trackpad won't "pinch open and close". It is configured correctly in the system preferences. It also worked in version 3. Anyone have any suggestions?

Do the related browser.gesture prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page still have a value set for those gestures?
Which Firefox function should be performed with those gestures?
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

Do you have your 10.6 Install Disc, if so reinstall, if not...
Try re-installing the big 10.6.8 Combo...

  • I can't find icloud setting in my internet and wireless options in the system preferences though help pages assure me I can. how do I do this ?

How do I set up icloud on my macand my ipad ?

Your signature says you are running 10.6.5: this is not compatible with iCloud. The minimum requirement is Lion 10.7.2; the preference pane does not appear on earlier systems.
You can set up iCloud on your iPad as long as it's running iOS5 or 6:
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html
You are severely limited in what you can do in Snow Leopard: you should update to 10.6.8, and then the situation is described in this page:

  • System Preference -  Delete the Administrator

I just purchased a used iBook and am trying to load software but the old owners Administration name and password won't let do anything of the sort. I haven't been able to contact this person and I'm excited to use it. Is there anyway to remove his account and make myself the administrator?

    Adrian,
Use the install DVD/CD to reset the password
Your post is rather vague, maybe I can help. To reset the administrative password you do not need to do a clean install, or any install for that matter.
Here is what you need to do:
    Insert the Tiger Install disk
Choose Reset Password from the Installer (since you have Tiger it should be under the Utilities menu)
Choose the hard disk volume (Usually Macintosh HD unless was changed by user)
Set the User name of your original administrator account
Do not select System Administrator. That is the root, the root user. This is not the same as the normal administrative account.
Enter new password and click Save.
You can find more information on changing the administrator account password in Knowledge Base Document #106156 (bottom of page)
    I hope that helps,
    Jon

  • FNCore in System Preferences?

I'm on Mac system 10.5.8. When launching Illustrator and InDesign CS3 I get the error message-
FMCore has stopped. Please start it from the System Preferences pane.
I've looked in the System Preference, but can't find reference to FMCore. Can someone tell how to find it. The only reference on the forum relates to Snow Leopard, but I still need to find it in System Preferences. Help is Much appreciated.

I believe you have Suitcase Fusion installed go back the the System Preference accessed Apple Menu and at the bottom you should see something related to Suitcase. Click on it and I believe you can activate it from there.
Your tile has a mistake of calling it FNCore it is FMCore meaning Font Management Core.

  • Icloud icon Missing from system preferences

Why can I not find my icloud icon in system preferences?  Help!!!

Because you're running Snow Leopard (10.6.8 as noted in your profile)?
You must upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion to 'get' iCloud. Or just wait until Mavericks is released later this fall. You can directly upgrade now to Mountain Lion, if your system has the right specifications -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5444 - or wait for Mavericks. Your call. Mountain Lion is $20 and available from the Mac App Store: Apple hasn't announced a price for Mavericks.

    Check the following:
First, do you see the "User and Group" icon?
If not, open the "presentation" menu and look under the "personalize" option to see if the icon is uncheck.
Second, try to set a new account and see if you can access it from that account.

  • Why can't I find iCloud in my system preferences?

I'm hoping to set my Macbook up on iCloud so I can have back up of my photos etc. When I follow the set up instructions I don' have an iCloud option in my system preferences. Help please!!!

Your Mac needs to be running OS X 10.7.4 or later to have iCloud in System Preferences.
    What version is yours running?
Note that iCloud does not backup photos from a Mac. The Photostream feature is a temporary storage for transferring photos between iOS devices and back to a Mac for download.
