System prefrences icon in dock does not open

Hello
The system prefrences icon in dock,when i click on it ,does not open and deos not jump up and down ,like the other icons.In fact i can not open the sys.pref. in any other place either.The only way i can open it up ,is ,if i restart the computer and then when i click on it , it will spring jump and then open.
Deos anybody know what is wrong with it and how i can fix it.Thanks.

Try this:
Drag the system preference icon off the dock. Then drag the system preferences icon from your application folder to the dock.
If this does not help, drag a preference file (com.apple.systempreferences.plist) to the trash and restart.

Amazing steps you've done so far! The great news is this is very unlikely an issue with your iPhone.
I've run into a similar issue lately as well. I narrowed it down to one song that was causing 30 songs not to sync. I removed the song from the sync list (unchecked it) and all 29 songs were able to sync.
You may be running into a similar issue. This may be a problem with this version of iTunes, an issue with one song or a group of songs; hard to know for sure. It's important to narrow down and isolate the cause. Most imporantly get that music back on there!
The way to narrow down the casue add just a few songs at a time (even 1, just to get that first sync finished). Manually syncing is what you'll need here.
Plug in your iPhone, on the Summary screen (shows a picture of your iPhone, the iOS version, Restore iPhone....; etc). Under the Options area at the bottom choose to Manually Manage Videos and Music then choose Apply in the lower right. The music that's on your iPhone now should be removed from your iPhone now. You're now able to sync music manually.
The link below explains how to drag the songs from the iTunes library on the computer on to your iPhone which will start the sync. Add just one song just to see if you can get 1 of those hundreds of songs on there. If you can, awesome! Keep adding until you find the song or group of songs that are causing this issue.

IBM Systems Director link to HMC does not open

I use IBM Systems Director. When I find a VM on Systems Director and click on the link for the VM, a new window should open to another application called Hardware Management Console. The window does not open, I only see the screen blink once. Pop up blocker disable does not help.
This used to work on older versions of firefox and it currently works on IE 9.
I do not receive any error messages.

A lot has changed since Firefox 19, so it may be difficult to pin down the issue. If you need to run this application in Firefox 19, you could use the unofficial "portable" release. This installs to a single folder independent of your main Firefox. However, you generally can't run both at the same time.
You can download portable releases from SourceForge for testing to find the latest one that works:

Upon clicking Firefox icon-Firefox page does not open

Without any apparent reason, upon clicking Firefox icons, Firefox does not open. Appears the sign asking to wait on the screen, and the graphics for the icon being "pressed" but the page does not appear.

Lost HD icon's, appilcation does not open, total madness...

I lost all the icon's and the application does not oppen at all, I re-install but still the same. I repaired permits etc... done all, any susgestions...?

Oracle automatically puts a tablespace / datafile in offline state, if it encounters certain errors. e.g. oracle puts a datafile offline if DBWn fails to write (several times) to the datafile. If possible try to bring the system tablespace online or you will not be able to open the database (system tablespace contains data-dictionary).
Is this an express edition, if yes I doubt you can get any support from Oracle.

I attempt to open a second window from the icon but it does not open then when firefox is closed it will not reopen because it is still running in processes but no window displayed until you kill the process and then restart firefox.

I attempted to open a new window from the Firefox icon but nothing happens. I then went on browsing and closed Firefox but was later unable to open it. I checked processes and it was already running but there was no window displayed. I am running Windows 7 Professional.
This is repeated any time I already have the browser open and wish to open a second instance.

I click on firefox icon and it does not open

When I click on the firefox icon on the bottom of my screen nothing happens. It started acting up a few days ago. I have tried restarting the computer and it does not resolve the problem. I shut down the computer and restarted and was able to access firefox when clicking on the icon. When I existed and later tried to access firefox again nothing happened.

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] by holding down the Shift/Options key?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that works.

HT2470 Clicking finder in the dock does not open a new window.

I seem to be experiencing some odd behaviour.
When I click the finder in the dock - no new finder window opens. The icon has an active glow but I cannot get it to launch.
Any thoughts or am I just being daft?

Ok I finally solved my problem too, this is the way I had done
Delete the following folders and files
DropboxHelperTools (Library Folder)
Dropbox (Application)
Dropbox (user)
2. Delete deleted com.apple.finder.plist
3. Delete .dropbox folder (Go to folder and then type ~/.dropbox)
4. Empty trash
5. Download and install DropBox from web again
6. During the installation, a window will pop up and mention it can't find the link, and what we need is to relink.

New to Mac....Help. Mail app on ~Dock does not open

I have had my mac for over a year and mail has been great. I have a mac desktop g5. Clicking mail on the dock and I can read my messages easily.
Now i have to go to .mac to get my mail. Its all a blank screen and these rainbow wheel is driving me nuts. Please help ....anyone? I have tried synching but it doesnt help at all. Am I doomed.

I assume you created a .mac account in Mail. You might want to try deleting the account and recreating it. Assuming you Internet connection is good, it sounds like Mail doesn't understand where to get mail.

I just thought it was interesting and helpful to me to learn that the icon for Bridge does not appear anywhere. Not in Application Folder. Not in the Finders Directory Files. I see your point - if I could locate that icon - I'd be set by dragging it onto my DOCK and launching it from there.
So - I'm assuming I need to uninstall CS6. Please list all the steps for me to uninstall so that I don't miss any CS6 files.
When I search in FINDER for CS6 uninstall- I see two icons - red adobe "UNINSTALL ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS6" (both files are identical) Under KIND they both say Alias - with two different dates they were last opened (in November - few minutes apart). Is that what I use to uninstall completely all the files related to PS CS6 Extended as well as Bridge?
Do I need to DEACTIVATE ANYTHING ANYWHERE?
DOES ANYTHING NEED TO GO INTO TRASH.
I just want to make sure 'everything' related to CS6 Extended is off my computer and out of all the files. In the event i want to re-install - naturally I don't want to run into any conflicting 'issues'.
Do you think if I reinstall I will run into this same problem again (BR not launching)? Is there anything I can do to prevent it? I note on the forums - going a few years back - that there have been a lot of issues related to this same problem - even in other versions of the Creative Suite. Is Adobe doing anything to rectify this problem for us Photoshop CS Suite lovers or is all their focus just going into CC?

Firefox does not open on-screen - looks like it scrolls off to the side.

When I mouse over the Firefox icon, I can see that the window is open, but when I click on the icon, the window does not open onscreen and it fades in and out of the right side of my screen. Runninf Firefox 7.0.1, Windows 7 64-bit. Thanks

After clicking on the Firefox icon on the system task bar so that Firefox is selected, you can use WinKey and the left or right cursor key ( "WinKey+right-arrow") to place the window on the right half of the screen, then adjust the boundaries in the normal manner. If you have multiple monitors repeat (3 positions per monitor) until Firefox is in your current window.
On other Windows systems or if you have turn of one of the Windows 7 features, you can use "Alt+SpaceBar" to move/resize the window.

The box and link icon appear but when I click on the link icon:
* firstly it does not open in a new window but opens in the original window - not much of a popup !!
* secondly, in the existing window (which has been overwritten by the "popup"), it shows the results of the query (apparently as hyperlinks) ok but when I click on a returned value hyperlink nothing happens i.e. there is no "return".
What am I doing wrong ?
I have been able to get the other apex_item api procedures (e.g. SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY) to work ok but not APEX_ITEM.POPUP_FROM_QUERY.
I can write what I want in Javascript but APEX_ITEM.POPUP_FROM_QUERY was perfect for what I was asked to do.
