System Prefs, Mail Prefs, App Prefs, etc, not saving in Lion?
My System Prefs, Mail Prefs, App Prefs, etc, are not saving since I have upgraded to Lion? I have repaired permissions, reinstalled, the OS all to no avail!! Please help?
i had the same problem, i fix the system prefs problem with this:
chmod -RN ~/Library/Preferences
but still having trouble with the mail prefs

Mail App - New Accounts not saving
Im creating new accounts, but once I close the Mail app they are not saving (I can see the account while I have Mail open, but once I close it they dissapear from both the Mail app mail folders and the Accounts/Settings).

I have verified permissions via Disk Utility, but that hasnt helped.
Any ideas?I have fixed it! All I did was to select "replace all information in iPhone from Maill" and worked.

I have just upgraded to iOS7 and when I open my apps some have data saved and some (Eden, Survivalcraft) do not. My son is distraught that all his hard work has gone so does anyone know why this would be and how do I fix it please?
Nevermind. Problem solved. They were there. I just couldn't see them.

App tabs are not saving nor highlighting when I get updates
When I restart Firefox, my app tabs sometimes saves, and sometimes they do not. Also I open a new window in a current session, my app tabs do not save between windows. I would expect them to be on every window I opened; otherwise, they'd really be no different from normal tabs.
Also, Firefox says that when an app tab updates, it will highlight. However, my hotmail app tab and my facebook app tab will not highlight no matter how many emails or facebook notifications I receive.

Is there a way to have the app tab save the page you pinned. For example, have it save my facebook wall and have it open my facebook wall when I restart firefox instead of having it load a friend's profile page?The app tabs feature is still in a relatively early stage of development. The option to remember app tabs independently of sessions has not yet been implemented, but it will be part of the release version of Firefox 4.

I installed 10.8.2 and now I cannot access, mail, safari, app store etc. HELP !
I installed the update for Mountain Lion. And now I cannot use most of my stuff. Including Mail, APP Store ( where I would go to get any downloads and updates) Safari etc.....

Suggestion: Download the combo update and do it again: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1581
If that doesn't help, you might need to re-install the system. Keep backing up! -
Mail app just does not open after Lion upgrade
Hi,
I have just install Lion and the Mail app just crashes.
It starts updating the database then just shutdown.

Using System.getProperty in the app, but still not signing the jar file
Is there a way to use the System.getProperty call in the app but not sign the jar? I get the security exception when launched using WebStart?

Seriously, the security exception is there by design. If you must call System.getProperty, you need to sign your jars -- though personally, I think there are situations where signing your jars to make Web Start work is a needless complication.
However, if you still need a tool to deploy updates and such, I recommend Deploy Director from Sitraka. -

I am running into a strange problem since having to restore my iPhone after the 1.1.3 software update.
I am unable to send mail. What I am finding is that the mail accounts that I have set up are not using the password I need to authenticate my outgoing mail. There are two more detailed symptoms, and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen them...
1.) When I enter a password into the "Optional" area, it isn't staying-- when I go right back to the config screen for that account, it is already gone. Not surprisingly, I am then failing to authenticate when trying to send mail.
2.) I notice that the "Authentication >" button on the Advanced screen of email account config is greyed-out. I suspect this is somehow related.
I have tried re-creating the accounts a number of times. Eventually accounts are created, but outgoing email isn't working. This was working before the update, but I also deleted and re-created the accounts after first seeing problems. My provider has ports 25 and 587 open, and requires password authentication to send.I may have found my own solution for this, so I am posting it here in case anyone runs into the same thing.
I removed all Email Accounts from my iPhone. Then I recreated them one at a time, from scratch. If the Add Account screen came up with previous info in it, I started over until it started blank. I was sure to enter the server addresses, passwords, etc. correctly the first time. I didn't specify ports at all. I had to click past a "Do you want to retry without SSL?" message a couple of times for each.
Once all of that was done properly (took a few tries) the accounts appeared with the password already saved rather than blank. Sending email then worked. The "Authentication" on the Advanced tab now shows up with "Password".
This looks like a subtle bug to me, even though it has a work-around. -
AOL and mail some sent messages are not saved
I have been having a problem with sent messages using mac mail and my aol account. Occasionally the message will get hung up and will take a long time to send. The send progress bar fills up and the message is eventually sent, but it is not copies to my sent folder. This happens for about one out of every ten emails that I send.

That is, I am relatively sure, an AOL server problem (happens to me occasionally).
You might try Open DNS (the free one) to see if it will address other possible problems.

App history does not clear in Lion
I'm noticing that for Quicktime and Text Edit that when I clear the history of files I've opened - they do not clear. When I right click the app while it's opened (in the dock) i still see a list of all the files I've opened. Before - if I clear the history - this menu would be cleared as well.
Any advise on how to fix this?

for me,, all the opened converstation in ichat is not getting deleted.
Cleared Recent items from Files -->Recent items --> clear menu
it cleared only the conversation listed in Recent items..
But, rt click on ichat is still showing all the opened chats..which is actually removed from the Documents-->chats-- Folder already..
but seeing them in the ichat application, when doing rt click.
its displayed as filenamexxxxxxxxxx.ichat -
E-mail downloaded to 520 is not saved on phone
I have a Lumia 520, generally all is working well, but when I download e-mail to the phone it is removed
from my phone when I down load to my desktop. My isp uses Outlook as its mail platform, on my desktop
I use windows Live Mail to down load e-mail and save on my desktop. With both my iPad and the 520 as long
as the e-mails have not been downloaded to my W Live Mail on my desktop, I can retrieve the e-mail on both
my iPad and 520. So, once the e-mail has been downloaded to desktop via Live Mail I cannot access the
e-mail on the other devices, that is fine. However, on my iPad anything that was downloaded to it stays on
it regardless of what I do in Live Mail on the desktop, but on the 520 as soon as the mail is downloaded from
the Outlook server to Live Mail on the desktop the 520 upon re-sync drops anything that had been previously
downloaded to the phone ??!! Is there a way to keep/save any emails downloaded to the 520 regardless of
subsequent actions on Outlook or Live M ??Use IMAP or Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) on your desktop computer.

Mail service in Server Admin not saving changes
We have a Xserve with Snow leopard (10.6) and we have dovecot installed. We want to serve IMAP. According to mail it is on. Whenever we make any changes to the mail service in Server Admin and press save the values revert back to what they were (so no accepting the new values). We do not get any errors and we have checked the logs but nothing suggests why this has happened.
Any idea's?
Alternatively, is there anyone here really familiar with DoveCot that we could speak to? or any companies to contact?
All we want to do is run/host our own IMAP mailserver.

As you can see the pop/IMAP incoming is off. We cannot get it to turn on. The server has been restarted also and no change has occured.

HT1338 Mac App Store will not install Mountain Lion update
I am having an issue where I try to install the 10.8.4 update from the Mac App Store. I click on the button and it says it needs to restart to install. I tell it to restart and install but it does nothing. I get the Mac App store back with it asking me to install the update again. Looking at the infobox I see that I am still on 10.8.3.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
After this is completed download and install 10.8.4 Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo). -

Camera app acting weird - not saving photos - iphone 6 plus
I just got my iphone 6 plus... I'm trying to use the stock camera app and it's acting weird. I'm able to focus and take a photo... after I take a pic, you know how the little thumbnail of that photo appears on the bottom left of the app? You should be able to touch that and then view in full screen your last pic, right? Well here is when it starts acting up... When I touch it, nothing happens! I exit the app and go to the photos app and my picture isn't there! The app doesn't appear to freeze - as I can still view the screen and what the camera is looking at! Before the 1st photo is "taken" I am able to choose between any of the photo types (square, pano, video, slo mo, time lapse)... but the same thing will happen no matter which photo I choose. If I pick a video, the video begins and then the touch part doesn't work... the video will run on 'forever' or until i press the home button - in which case the video isn't saved.
I have restarted my phone many times... and even done the power cycle (where you hold the sleep/lock and home button at same time)
Any ideas? Please help - this is a 2 day old phone and the camera doesn't work properly.
What is really weird is that I can post a photo taken by instagram with no problem.. I can also use the Camera Awesome app but the photos aren't saved in the photos app... even if I try to export to camera roll in camera awesome!

After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Test to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device may have caused unexpected behavior.
- If the issue is still present, you may want to contact Apple Support.
- If the issue is now resolved, sync one type of content at a time back to the device. For example, if you had an issue playing music, add songs from iTunes and confirm they will play. If your contacts weren't loading successfully, add the contacts back. After each sync, test to see if the issue has returned.
