  • USage of URL iView

    Hi All,
How can we use the URL iView, in the process of portal branding.
    Regards
    Seshu

    From the URL you gave, if you are referring to the BCC on the left and The Widest ex...SAP on the right;
Then you can do that by modifying the Masthead par file.
If you must go by His Decision to URL iViews, I think I know what he is referring to. He wants you to create 2 URL iViews, One wid the pic, the other with the slogan.
In that case, you need to make a Portal page of equal widths, assign both the previouslycreated URL iviews side by side, and include that page as the masthead in the Default Framework Page.
I hope my answer helped you. If so consider rewarding points.

  • System option is empty in the url iview property editor

    hi
I wanted to create a URL iview. I would also like to specify the System for the url iview. But when I go to the URL iview property editor, when I select the dropdown list next to system, there are no systems listed.
Please explain me how to make the system available for the url iview.
    Thanks for the help
    -Mike

    Hi,
Can you detail your requirement. URL iviews are iviews in which you can set any URL and the iview will connect directly to it. So, you cannot force set the URL iview to use a System.
I guess you are trying to call some BW report. For this you can try to create an iview based on component
com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap and then select the application. In this iview you should be able to specify the system.
    Cheers!!

  • How to use URL iview parameters??

    Hi all,
i have created a URL iview  to www.gmail.com, now my requirement is i dont want to give user id and password and it should logged me in directly so for that i need to make use of URL iview parameters, but i am not aware of how to use it, can anybody help me to resolve this issue??
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Ameya.

    Hi Ameya,
Basically, you need to create a HTTP system, then create a URL Iview giving this http system as a reference in it.
Check this <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=389042">thread</a> for details.

  • Passing URL parameters to WD app in URL IView

    Hi experts,
I'm using EP 7.2 and as I found out this version doesn't support Web Dynpro Java iview template so I'm using URL iview template for my Web Dynpro Java application. My requirement is to somehow pass some URL parameter (which is id for something in my app) to the WD app in the URL iview. So in this scenario setting the URL parameters and their values during design time for the iview is not suitable. I tried DynamicParameter=id%3D154 for example but it doesn't work. Do someone has any ideas to solve this problem? Any help will be appreciated.

Edited by: musaka on Oct 27, 2009 1:12 PM

    Hi Musaka,
If i am not mistaken, your requirement is to display a URL iView to user with some parameters (contained within the Address Bar of the Browser) to be passed to the iView. Initially as no parameter value can be defined on previewing the iView or opening the iView, no value is passed to iView. But in case, when you directly enter the Parameter Values against Parameter Names in Address Bar and then say go, the page should reload and pick the parameter values from URL in Address Bar instead.
    Steps to follow:
    1. Put     CustomerId=0&RequestId=0            in the Application Parameter property of the URL iView.
    2. Put the following lines of code in the wdDoInit() in the implementation tab of the View Controller to retrieve and use the passed parameter value in the View of the application and then say Organize Imports from the context menu.
    int customerId = WDProtocolAdapter().getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject().getParameter("CustomerId");
    int requestId = WDProtocolAdapter().getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject().getParameter("RequestId");
Please revert in case of any issue.

  • Can't get URL iview to log in users to external site

I am testing with a simple log in page that accepts two parameter values (username and password). I have created a URL iview with these parameters that displays the page perfectly, but won't log the user in.
I am unsure if I have to set the authentication URL, method and type both in the system and in the URL iview config.
What settings HAVE to be in place (both for the iview and system) when the POST method is to be used?
    Thanks, Henning

Here is the correct minimal settings:
Set Up Target System (Via System Administration - System)
as URL-System that authenticates with UID PW
Create the URL IVIEW, select the system and set the parameter values to "mapped user" and "mapped password".
Set the identifier names "i.e. "PWD" and "UID" to  whatever your systems expects.
Set method to "Post" and set the mode to "client side"
    This has worked for me.
In your application, you can read the parameters with the names you have set in the iview.

  • System on URL iView

    Hello all,
I've created a System and a System alias to connect a Note Webmail. Everything is fine but when I create a URL iView, as I've read on SAP procedure, I cannot find any System alias on System combobox.
Does anybody knows why, when you edit an URL iView object, there's nothing on System combobox? I've configured a lot of System alias and gave all the permissions to the alias.
    Thanks,
    Andre

    Hi Andre,
I tested it using Yahoo Mail and the Yahoo alias is being showed in the URL iView.
The problem can be located in the system permissions. Have you checked this issue ?
I'm getting some strange problems with this new way to implement sso to web app. The old one (appintegrator) seems to work better.

  • Need to send cookie to non-SAP backend from URL iView

    Hi,
I have a backend application which takes a cookie for
(non-SAP) SSO purposes. I have created an URL iView
in my EP 6.0 SP2 that correctly displays the content
of that web page, i. e. the login screen.
However, even when I have a cookie in my browser, it still
displays that login screen, i. e. the cookie is either
    not sent or not recognized.
I then created a simple test servlet on a backend server
that prints the contents of all the HTTP headers. When
I connect my browser directly to that page, I can see
the cookie. When I connect my iView to that URL, I
do not see the cookie. So apparently the iView does
    not send the cookie.
As I learned, in EP 6.0 SP3 there is a "Fetch Mode"
property for URL iViews which allow to define whether
the URL in the URL iView should be retrieved by the
server or the client. This seems to indicate that in
SP2, always the server issues that request, which would
explain why there is no cookie in the request (since only
the browser holds these cookies). So I presume if I
would use SP3 with Fetch-Mode set to Client, this might
work. But then again, this fetch mode is not really
encouraged by the documentation and only recommended
if you are really desparate ...
    So the question basically is:
    - are my assumptions above correct?
    - is there a way to have the EP server send cookies to
      my backend systems with SP2?
I'm a little puzzled that this doesn't work out of the
box, since my understanding was that SAP SSO tokens are
also transported to backend systems using cookies, and
this is supposed to be on by default for EP. So I was
expecting to see at least the SAP SSO tokens in all
HTTP requests to backends. Apparently, the world is
    not that easy.
Any insights would very much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Matthias

    Additional thoughts:
In general your assumptions are correct. When using client side fetch mode then the cookie should be forwarded, and I would not expect problems there. When using server side mode then the cookie domain changes and becomes the portal domain, and as a result the cookie is kept in the browser, but is a little useless. I'm not 100% familiar with how we solve this problem when using SSO2 cookie in server side. Yoav, can you elaborate ?
The reason the documentation was not in favor of client side is because at the time the idea was to encourage the users to use the portal server cache. However, this seems less relevant now, because only the first request will be cached, but not the inner calls of the html page.
Bottom line - I don't see any issue with using client side, and actually the default in FP is client side. So I would simply modify the iview to use it.

  • Url iView: passing user/pass as get variables.  Launching in new window

    Hi,
I pass username and password as get variables from a url iView, and want a page containing this iView to open in a new page using the "Launch in new window" property set to "Display in a separate window".
When previewing the iView or page it is on, it works fine.  But when launching it from the detailed navigation, this does not work.  A new window is opened, but the user is prompted for username and password.
The page to display is an external site, and we have only got the url with user/pass to access it.
Any ides on what can be wrong?
    Best Regards,
    Bjorn

    Hi,
Using the url in IE works fine.  It seems to work everywhere but in the portal menu.
I have the appintegrator in the back of my mind, and will start to have a look at it.  We are also considering a OSS message - this must be a bug in the system as far as I can see.

  • URL IView - how to use local URL

    Hi all,
in my CE 7.11 system I need to create a URL iview which references a local url such as:
    http://CEHOST:CEPORT/<myApplication>.html
I must reference it as a local url, cannot use copy/paste from PCD since it's not a WDJ or portlet.
    My question is:
how do I configure an url iview to reference a local url?
E.g. should I reference the whole URL or just the <myApplication>.html part?
    How do I configure authentication?
    Thanks, regards
    Vincenzo

You can try using com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Generic component ?
Use URL Template property with value : <Request.Protocol>://  <Request.ServerPort>/<your application name>.html
    or
    just give /<your application name>.html

  • URL iView content translation not working using Portal Content Traslation

    Hi All,
I am using Portal Content Translation to translate text of URL iView from English to Spanish. I am unable to do so. I have followed the below mentioned link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/74/641640b7b6dd5fe10000000a155106/frameset.htm
I have used Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Translation Worlist Coordination to:
    1) Generate worklist and add content
    2) Generte translation data
    3) Release for translation
After this, I am using Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Worklist Translation for following:
    1) Load worklist for translation
    2) Translate worklist
I am facing difficulty in Translate Worklist. The step by step method followed by me are as below:
I am clicking on Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Worklist Translation.
I am searching Translation Worklist and selecting my Worklist
After this I am selecting following
    Source Language - English
    Target Language - Spanish
Then I am clicking on 'Load for Translation' button. New screen appears. In this screen, Translatable Text table is shown:
    It shows following
    Number
    Source Text <EN>
    Target Text <ES>
    Status
    Object ID
In Status I can see 'Not Translated'. I click on Next for three times as there are three line Number (0, 1 & 2)
The Status does not change. It remains 'Not Translated'.
When I am using following combination
    Source Language - Raw Texts
    Target Language - Raw Texts.
I click on Next for three times as there are three line Number (0, 1 & 2). The status changes to Translated.
I do not know what is going wrong with my process while selecting Source Language - English & Target Language - Spanish .
I have another question. I have to translate content of entire URL iView. How I can change the whole content of URL iView.
In the source text I can NOT see the contents of URL iView.
    Thanks
    Stuart

    Hi Prakash,
Did you check whether the translation has been done completely in PCD inspector? Some times you would have translated using Portal translation but it will not be written in the locale of the iView property.  Then we have to set it manually in the PCD inspector.
    Follow the procedure.
    1. navigate to System Administration -> Support -> Portal Content Directory -> PCD Inspector
This will open the PCD inspector.
    2. "Browse Into" the iview where you have developed it.
    3. Click on the "All Props" for the iView which you need to translate.
This will open the Properties in new window
    4. Check the property "com.sap.portal.pcm.title" what is maintained in Chinese? if it still displaying in English text against Chinese, Then you need to  Edit the property for chinese and have to give the actual chinese word.
Note  : I hope you would have selected "Raw Text"  for Source language and "Chinese" as Target language. Pls confirm on this.
    Thanks,
    Mahendran B.

  • Set user Language in URL IView

    Hello,
I am trying to put the Language of the user in the parameters of the URL.
    For example :
    http://sopraganesh.cr.infra.lab/redirect.asp?page=ECD&lang=en
How can I parameter the URL IView to automatically retrieves the language of the connected user?
    Thanks for your help,
    AN

    Hi
Once you have defined the iView’s URL to the targeted Web page, you may need to configure parameters that are passed to the information source as part of the URL. In the URL iView Editor, you can do the following to URL parameters:
    ·        Add, remove, and modify URL parameters
    ·        Determine whether or not portal end user can view and personalize URL parameters at runtime
    ·        Assign intuitive display names to URL parameters that are viewed or personalizable by portal end users
    ·        Specify the URL request method (GET or POST)
If you navigated to the targeted Web page and defined the iView URL using the portal built-in browser, the URL parameters and request method may already been defined in the URL iView Editor.
    Procedure
           1.      Open the iView in the URL iView Editor.
The editor does not display URL-specific parameters in the URL address within the URL box. URL parameters that were part of the URL referencing the selected Web page (the information source) are automatically removed from the source URL and displayed in the URL parameter list in the editor. At runtime, the portal automatically appends the URL and the listed parameters to the targeted URL request.
           2.      In the Request Method option, choose either GET or POST to specify the request method. The request method indicates how the browser sends information to the information source:
    Request Method
    Description
    GET
This request method appends parameters to the URL when the data request is sent to the information source. The server receives the data in one long query string, which typically limits the length of parameters that can be passed.
For example, a URL using the GET request method would be: http://www.google.com/search.asp?&querystring=SAP where querystring indicates the parameter identifier and SAP is the parameter value.
    POST
This request method sends parameters for the URL in the header of the data request stream; parameters are not appended to the URL. This allows for long parameters to be passed to a script and parsed one element at a time.
For example, a URL using the POST request method would be: http://www.google.com/search.asp.
POST is only supported when the Fetch Method property defined in the iView is set to Server-side. For more information, see URL iView Properties.
For iViews that have a mixture of parameters sent by GET and POST together, you must:
§         Choose POST as the request method.
§         Set the Fetch Mode property to Server-side
§         Append the GET_EXPLICIT_ prefix to the parameter identifier of each parameter that is sent by GET. For example, a parameter defined as searchstring should be defined as GET_EXPLICIT_searchstring. When the iView sends a data request, the prefix is removed from the parameter identifier at runtime. Parameters sent by POST do not require a special prefix.
           3.      To add a parameter, click Add below the table. A new entry is added to the parameter list.
To remove a parameter, select the checkbox of the relevant parameter in the list and click Remove. Before doing so make sure the parameter is not required by the information source.
           4.      Define the attributes of existing or new parameters, as follows:
    Attribute
    Description
    URL Parameter
Specifies the parameter identifier as recognized by the information source. For example, in the URL http://www.google.com/search.asp?&querystring=SAP, the parameter identifier is querystring.
As stated above, parameters that need to be sent by GET when the request method is defined as POST, must have the GET_EXPLICIT_ prefix. For example: GET_EXPLICIT_searchstring.
Enter special characters that are present in the parameter identifier as is. Do not convert them to ASCII code. For example, enter first name, and not first%20name. At runtime, the portal will encode special characters to ASCII when fetching the iView data.
    Value
Specifies the value of the parameter. This is not mandatory.
If you set the parameter as a variable that can be personalizable by end users (see following attribute), then this value will be the parameter’s default value. However, if you set the parameter as not personalizable, then this value is the fixed value of the parameter.
Enter special characters present in the parameter value as is. Do not convert them to ASCII code.
    Type
Specifies the data type of the parameter.
Choose one of the following options:
    ·        String: Apply this option for all data types whose property is not a mapped user name or password; for example, an integer or string.
    ·        Mapped User: Apply this option when the URL parameter designates a “user name” that is required to authenticate the user with the information source at runtime.
    ·        Mapped Password: Apply this option when the URL parameter designates a “password” that is required to authenticate the user with the information source at runtime.
§         When Mapped User and Mapped Password are selected, the Value and Personalize attributes cannot be edited.
§         If you want to enable user mapping for the user name and password parameters, in the System drop down-down list, choose an appropriate system already defined in the portal, which contains the necessary settings. See Selecting a System.
    Personalize
Specifies whether or not portal end users can view the parameter and its assigned value if they personalize the iView at runtime. This attribute also allows you to determine whether or not end users can personalize the parameter value.
Choose one of the following options:
    ·        Hidden: The end user does not see the parameter and its value. This is the default setting.
    ·        Read / Write: The end user sees the parameter and is able to modify its value.
    ·        Read Only: The end user sees the parameter and the fixed value assigned to it. The end user cannot modify the parameter value.
    Name
Specifies an intuitive display name for the parameter identifier. If you set the parameter to be viewable by end users at runtime, this name is displayed instead of the parameter identifier, which is often abbreviated and unintuitive.
This attribute is available only if Read / Write or Read Only is selected in the Personalize attribute. If you do not specify a name, the Personalize attribute will be reverted to Hidden.

    Hi,
Try opening the URL iVIew in a new page by providing the property "Open the page in New Window" instead of the same window. Are you trying to integrate WebDynpro ABAP iViews?
