System reboots within seconds after Windows logo

Hey guys. I am trying to help out a buddy of mine. He had just bought new parts last nite from NewEgg. He has not got the system to work at all out of the box. He says everytime it reaches the Windows logo wheither it tries to boot to safemode or regular mode, it will reboot on him. I am at wits end trying to figure this out. He has tried all possible settings in the bios. He cant even boot of cd either but booting off a floppy seemed to work. Odd thing is even with no other drives connected with just cdrom connected, it still attempted to boot to windows and reboots everytime.
I dont have all his details from his specs but here are some details he does have below that I know. Can you help me please? Any ideas be helpful? Is it incompatible cpu or is the power suppply not powerful enough for his system? Also in the bios the temp shows 65 C which seems to be awful high. Dont even know if that is reporting correctly or if thats causing it reboot each time. He didnt see any settings to disable it so doesnt reboot when hits certain temp.

250 GB ide hard drive
80 GB SATA drive(doesnt matter when if this drive is connected, same problem)
floppy drive
PLEASE HELP!!!

Well he still cant get the system to boot correctly. He has got the paste reapplied and got the temp showing little down but I really dont think thats the main problem. Even without that SATA OS previous install, and tried to install brand new hard drive to load XP or Vista, he cant boot off the cd. Wont recognize it, system doesnt hit Windows logo anymore and instead gets the message of PXE media failure, check cable. Thinking he is getting that message just because no OS is installed right now. He then tried to boot off 98 startup disk and load XP, not even sure if thats possible. When it was running and running and running, took like over an hour to complete the format and started to load setup files but it completely stopped and would not load any further. He already checked the boot device sequence. He has tried floppy first then cdrom and vise versa with hard drive 3rd but still he can not boot off a cd. These are the same cds he is able to boot off any other system such as laptop with no problems.
What in the world can he try next? Hes about to take a sledge hammer to it. Really not even sure of all the bios options but he says he has tried everything. Something cant be configured right. He has AMI Bios and no idea where to even find screen shots of his actual bios he has online of options to try next in bios. Any ideas guys? If you need more information, please ask.

  • Acer XB270HU black screen after windows logo for about 20-30 seconds

Hi all,On a fresh and fully up to date OS (Win 7) with 2x GTX 980 Ti I have an issue where the screen goes black (No Signal) just after windows logo. Im using UEFI SDD boot flow, have secured boot disabled. Im connected with DispayPort 1.1 (not sure if that matters). This issue did not occur after getting to Windows just after the reinstallation of the OS (no drivers, no updates). It started to occur after the OS got fully up 2 date. Any ideas? As Im losing 30 seconds on boot-up with UEFI so it feels like IDE....

I also have the same issue, it only started a few days ago and ive had it for 2 weeks. Sometimes when I start up the computer, it will say no signal and my secondary monitor will turn on and take its place as the primary monitor. A restart will fix this issue, but then my Acer goes black, says no signal, comes back at a resolution of 600:800 and then 1920:1090, and changes again to its native 2560:1440.
Not to mention G-SYNC does not work at all on my monitor. I can't beleive they charge $1,000 for this extremely mediocre at best monitor

  • My laptop become blue screen after windows logo, after i update the graphic ati and intel driver

I have constant blue screen after windows logo and i have updated all drivers. i was upset the blue screen didn't go away and i did the factory reset. For my suprise, it didn't solve the problem and then i repair it at the comp shop. it was installed with windows 7 home premium 64 (pavilion g4 1006tx) bit as the pre installed windows and activated with the key back on sticker. I updated all drivers and i noticed every time i update the ati and intel driver it will go blue screen after windows logo. after i uninstall it at in safe mode it can load normally. My question is there any solution for my graphic card or is it already damaged? or any other hardware problem? please because i have to use high graphic as i use photoshop

  • IDE MODE:20 seconds on windows logo before start.

    Hi.
this problem is not by now but from I've assembled my pc(see signature).
If I set IDE mode in the bios I have to wait 20 seconds on windows xp logo before s.o. start to be load
If i set RAID MODE, and I DON'T HAVE A RAID CONFIG, there is no wait on start up and all works fine.
windows xp is installed on PATA HDD.
other 2 disks are sata1 only for storage.
    thanks

    Hi,
Was the install on the pata HDD, a fresh install?
    http://www.paragon-software.com/home/db-professional/
Link to 30 trial, so you can copy your pata to 1 of your sata drives.......
    FYI
Sometimes, it takes 1 minute for my system to boot and close to 2-3 minutes when install drivers and testing different hardware.
    yes, fresh install
do you have a pata hdd with s.o. too?

  • Black Screen after windows logo

Good evening. So i got a bit angry and kinda hit my laptop...then the screen had some green lines on it so i switched it off, after that after switching it back on the screen goes black after the windows logo i am only able to see the cursor. If i use safe mode it works. So i don't know what to do. Thanks in advance guys.

    Hi,
At this point, my best guess would be a problem with the HDD.  This would be consistent with damage following an impact and with the notebook being able to start in safe mode ( less read/write load ) - it would also explain why the uefi diagnostics throw an error as it needs to access to the HP_TOOLS partition.
When in safe mode, you could try disabling all start-up items and services ( apart from Microsoft services ), then reboot and see if it will load any further - if it does then manage to load the OS, this would tend to confirm that the issue is with the drive and it'll need to be replaced.

  • G62 b05sd screen goes black after windows logo

    Hello,
My laptop has been turning of at random lately and now the screen turns black after the windows logo appears, though the start-up tune can be heared. I've tried connecting it to different external monitors yet it doesn't work. I've been able to start-up in safe mode and tried updating BIOS using both HP support assistant as well as manually. HP sup. ass. also doesn't indicate updating anything. The battery is essantially dead, yet i've used the laptop for a long time using the adapter only.
My next step is to do a windows system recovery, but I want to see if the issue can be resolved differently.
    Thnx

    Hi @frankkilsdonk ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP G62-b05SD Notebook and issues with freezing on the Windows logo. It is trying to load something . I would look at what is in your startup file in Windows.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook. If you installed new software on the Notebook you might want to uninstall it as this could be the issue as well.
When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues.
    Thanks.

  • MSI R9 270x OC edition 4gb - black screen after windows logo

    Good afternoon,
I am the proud owner of 2 x MSI R9 270x OC edition 4gb cards, One is working a treat, the other is not.
When I use on of them, I get the boot screen (the one with the option to go into the BIOS), then I get the Windows logo, then nothing but a black screen, output from the card is detected by the monitor (green light at the bottom instead of stand by) but nothing else. the other card works perfect on its own.
They are both detected when I run windows in safe mode.
This also happens if I run crossfire on both cards.

  • My MacBook Pro shuts down within seconds after starting with a Gray Screen and Apple Logo, a bar comes at the bottom.

My MacBook Pro starts with a Gray Screen and Apple Logo, a bar comes at the bottom, but after few seconds the machine shuts down. This was bought approx 1 year back. Please help!!

    jayanta.ray,
which model MacBook Pro do you have (did you buy it new?), and which version of OS X is installed on it?

  • Thunderbird crashes within seconds after starting, even when I completely reinstall it. Caused by Facebook Photo Uploader" (fbplugin)

The basics: Mac OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite, 10 GB RAM. Thunderbird version 31.3.0 (though the same thing happens when I try earlier and later versions).
Symptom: Thunderbird crashes within a few seconds of starting it up. I have enough time click on a menu or two, perhaps glance at a message, then it crashes.
    Attempted solutions:
    - Starting Thunderbird in Safe Mode.
    - Starting the Mac in Safe Mode.
    - Deleting ~/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.thunderbird.plist and ~/Library/Preferences/Thunderbird, deleting the Thunderbird application, emptying the trash, and reinstalling Thunderbird from mozilla.org.
    - Using Yosemite Cache Cleaner to scan the hard drive for viruses, and to deep-clean all System and User caches.
    - Booting from the Recovery partition, repairing disk permission, and repairing the filesystem.
The only time Thunderbird has semi-stable is just after I've deleted all preferences, started it up, and I do the initial set-up for my e-mail account. Everything appears normal, and my list of IMAP folders appears. But shortly after that Thunderbird crashes again, and keeps crashing at every subsequent restart.
This is a problem that developed last Wednesday, Dec 24; prior to that the program ran just fine. No other program on my computer at work is showing these symptoms. Thunderbird works on my Macintosh at home (same software versions) and on my Linux computer at work.
I'm at a loss of what to try next. Any ideas?

Or you can try Earlybird from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/channel/ which should have the patch from https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1086977

  • Grub system boot messed up after windows crash

I have a dualboot system with Win XP and Arch. Yesterday Windows crashed while i was listening to music. Since then, when i boot my computer Grub throws an error message (i think it's error 17) and doesn't start the bootmanager. But if i boot from a normal Ubuntu-Live-CD an choose "boot from first harddisk" i get my grub manager and i am able to boot normally.
I tried to fix this by manually reconfigure grub like this:
    1. Pop in the Live CD, boot from it until you reach the desktop.
    2. Open a terminal window or switch to a tty.
    3. Type "grub"
    4. Type "root (hd0,6)", or whatever your harddisk + boot partition numbers are (my /boot is at /dev/sda7, which translates to hd0,6 for grub).
    5. Type "setup (hd0)", ot whatever your harddisk nr is.
    6. Quit grub by typing "quit".
    7. Reboot.
    (taken from http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p= … stcount=2)
It seems that my hdX is different to my sdX labels. sda is my linux harddisk, and sdc is my windows drive. But if i type root (hd0,0) i get "Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x7", which means that this is an NTFS drive. So i tried root (hd2,0) (in my menu.lst, booting arch is also defined with hd2,0) and then i get "Error 21: Selected disk does not exist".
    Now two questions:
    1) Why is the labeling different? Why isn't sda1 = hd0 and so on?
    2) How to restore my boot process? (this is slightly more important )

    Alp wrote:
I think you both understood me wrong.
First, i don't need to alter the menu.lst, because grub doesn't show the boot choose menu at all. It just prints error 17 without any chance of doing something.
Second, i know the naming procedure. But obviously in my case hd0 and hd2 are switched, so that sda = (hd2) and sdc = (hd0). I don't know why.
well - you referred to 'sda1' as 'hd0' in your first post ...
as for the remapping of drives, there's always:
    map (hd0) (hd2)
    map (hd2) (hd0)

  • Blac kscreen after windows logo - broken graphics card?

    Model: HP Notebook PC G62-b41EO
    Product: XX509EA
Windows 7 Ultimate (Originally Windows 7 Home Premium)
While editing a video for YouTube, I got a bluescreen and my notebook PC shut down. When I restarted it everything was normal, until Windows had loaded, and after that everything went black.
I am almost certain that this is a graphics card problem:
    * When I disable the graphics driver in the Windows Device Manager I can start the computer normally.
    * In the device manager I get an error message on the GPU, saying that it couldn't boot because it isn't functioning properly.
The graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Graphics (switchable)
I tried several things, nothing has worked:
    * Updated graphics driver
    * Did a system restore, reinstalled operating system
    * Did a system check in startup options
    * Did a hard reset
    * Connected an external display, this caused another bluescreen.
My guess is that the graphics card just had enough and died. My 1 year warranty period is over. What can I do?

The only fix is a new motherboard or have the motherboard repaired.
This ebay seller is an example of the services that are out there. You can save quite a bit if you can remove the motherboard from the chassis:

  • Windows 8 FAQ: After upgrading, what Operating System will I have after Windows 8 Repair?

    Question:
Once I upgrade to Windows 8, if I need to send my PC back to HP for hardware repair, what operating system will be running on my system?
    Answer:
For most repairs, the PC will be returned with the Windows 8 operating system intact.  However, if the system repair requires, for example, a new PC hard drive, then a re-image of the PC will be required, and the original shipping operating system will be re-installed

  • System rebooting and hanging after installing Radeon Drivers

Hello,  I have a MSI VIA KM266 motherboard with onboard video.  Whenever I install a video card in the AGP slot and install the latest display drivers for my Radeon 8500 (i've even tried a Geforce card with the latest drivers) the system will randomly hang, crash, bluescreen, or reboot.  I have the latest bios which are version 1 (ms-6738).  I'm not using any device in the PCI slots either.  I've got 256 MB of DDR ram, 40 gig Maxtor HD, and 8x ACER cd burner.  It's running on a clean install of WinXP Pro.  I'm running out of things to try.  On the other hand, if remove the video card and run the onboard video, the system runs fine.  Can anyone help me??

Sorry the CPU is a AMD XP 2200+ that runs at 1.8 GHz.  Not sure about the max amps though.  How can I find out.
    Thanks!
