System Rebuild

I have had to have my hard drive rebuilt and as a result lost my music library. I have retained this on my ipod. I have followed the help given via the web links and it has stated that I need to click on the ipod icon on my explore page and copy the itunes file there to my new music library - the problem is when I dock my ipod the only folders that appear are calenders, contacts, notes and recording so i have nothing to copy across

This is what you will want to do, you will want to go into the tools menu in your windows explorer. Select folder options, click on the view tab. Once you are on the view tab, click on the folder that says hidden files and folders. On the hidden files and folders click show hidden files and folders. Then click ok on the folder options window. When you open the ipod now you will see the ipod control folder. In that folder there will be a music folder. Open that. There will be a number of folders that will begin with F00 you will want to go into the folder and you will see a bunch of song files with coded names. You will want to drag them to where it says library in itunes. The songs will automatically rename themselves to the correct name. Go through each one of the folders like this and your library will be restored.

  • How do I get CS4 Licence number update, when program not deactivated before system rebuild

My laptop recently had to have a clean system rebuild, when I got it back i couldn't get the licence numbers to

    Hi Kartikay,
Thank you for that, I need to feedback, as from your reply I deduce that you are an Adobe staffer.  I had two interactions earlier today with the chat line. The first interaction was terminated while I was still typing in Licence numbers so he/she could check product etc. So I got nothing from that it lasted about a minute.  My second interaction was going well my having asked the agent not to hang up while i was typing, after about ten minutes, he was just about to issue a new licence number, when a message came up saying chat was no longer available. I have been unable to connect with the chat line since it keeps saying I should quit the browser before starting the chat again, but the same message comes up even after doing this.  So I am well p....ed off with Adobe support at the moment. I still don't have a full working CS4 suite, although some parts are now working.

    Hi,
The error translates to "A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider."
Have you imported the WSUS self signed certificate or the certificates issued by your CA in the Task Sequence so that they are trusted during the OS deployment?

  • Will Dynamic Parameters remain connect if source system rebuild.

    Hi Experts,
Will dynamic parameters remain connected if the source SAP system is formatted and rebuild.
    Our Scenario
Now we pointed our Crystal Reports to SAP Ecc Tables.
    SAP Systems : A
    Client : 10;
    IP : 192.xxx.xx.xx
Now the SAP Source system is formatting and going to rebuild with Production COPY.
but the system information (IP,SYS NO, Client No) will remain same .
My Question is : Do we need to re-point Dynamic parameters in the Crystal reports again? or connection remain.
    Thanks,
    BharathU

    Hi Frischer,
If the copy is the exact same, meaning the query id, as well as the properties of the query are exactly the same, then it would work, as far as I know.
Even the prompts have id's and measures and dimensions too. If those are not the same, then I believe that you would need to remapp.
I hope this is a very helpful answer to you.
    Kind regards,
    John

  • Aperture license disappeared during system rebuild

I recently had to reinstall the operating system on my MacBook Pro (osX 10.5.6) and was very surprised to see Aperture asking for the license code again. I had thrown away my original packaging (stupid!) so, I was stuck. Called apple and they do not track registrations for licensing. Luckily I found the licensing file in an old backup and was able to get it going again (Library/Application Support,ProApps/Aperture system ID (.txt?).
Is this a common occurrence? ProApps loosing the license file when rebuilding the system? I very nearly had to spend the full price to upgrade to 2.0 just to get back to where I started. I think this needs to be looked into. I used the "Archive and install" and it must have missed the licensing info for Aperture.

The link David posted is the way to go if you lose your Aperture license entirely. May I suggest that you do something like I do which is create a database (in Filemaker or Numbers/Excel) of all your applications with their associated license codes/keys per version number. That way when I have to reinstall applications (system upgrade, hard drive wipe, etc.) I only have to look at that database, rather than digging out all the boxes and emails (for downloaded apps).

  • Adivce for System Rebuild

    Hello,
I am going to rebuild my system due to many issues I'm having and was wondering the steps I should follow to ensure my iPhoto files restore correctly.
    1) What files should I back up?
    2) Once I've rebuilt the system how do I restore those files so I don't have to rebuild the events, folders, etcetera?
    3) Kind of off topic but if I rebuild my system can I still map my existing time-machine back-up to the new install?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. How do you plan to reinstall your system? Unless you're have very serious problems with it I suggest you do an Archive and Install with the option to preserve the user and internet settings. This will give you a new system but keep your User account intact along with all internet settings, i.e. Mail and MobileMe accounts.
If you use the Erase and Install method you'll need to backup your entire User folder, any additional applications that you've added to the applications folder. After the installation is complete you'll need to create a new user account and copy back all of your user files including your User library folder, reestablish activation keys for those applications that require it, etc.
That's why the Archive and Install is a good way to go. Thes Apple documents give more info on the A&I method:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2196
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Repopulating my library after a system rebuild

Before reinstalling my system, I copied the entire iTunes folder from Music, to a secondary internal drive. My actual music files are stored here in anycase.
After system reinsatallation, reinstalled latest iTunes, which as expected, created a new iTunes folder plus xml file etc.
From preferences/advances, I relocated my music files (iTunes Music folder), clicked change. Next, trashed the new iTunes Music folder. Back to iTunes and clicked Consolidate Library.
Still no files appeared in the library, so went to Help. This advises removing the .xml file and relocating your previous one, which I did (importing it, as instructed, from the file menu). Still no rebuild.
    What can I do?
Now, I'm sure this one has been covered elsewhere, and I've tried to find a recent post in the archives, but it is incredibly difficult to find an applicable answer. Please then, would someone answer me or point me to the appropriate previous thread.
    Many thanks
    KHP

You do not need to move iTunes folder back onto the boot drive. You can leave it where it is.
Click to start iTunes and immediately press and hold the Option key.
Select Choose existing library and go to the iTunes folder on the other internal drive.

  • System rebuild after RAM install

I tried to add another stick of 512mb Corsair XMS PC3200 400mhz and immediatley had to clear CMOS and reset BIOS after the system failed to reboot .  Taking the stick out allowed me to boot properly and get the system back-up.  I RMA'ed the stick got another of the same and now I had a lsass.exe error which forced my local computer shop to reinstall WinXP and start from scratch (reformat the drives).  Has anyone had any luck running Corsair XMS across all three slots for a total of 1536mb?  Memclock has been tried at 400mhz and 333mhz...I'm now running at 333mhz with only two sticks.  I have sticks seated in slot 1 and 2

well, the response ure most likely to get is that your PSU is underpowered on the 12v line for such a hefty rig.
Things u can try tho, set the 2nd value in the ram timings up at least one. If you are using all three slots then max is 333mhz btw.
Update to latest bios, not sure if it has many ram issues fixed in it, but tis wortha  try.
oh and read up threads about SATA and RAID on this site, although i havent found problems some people have with drives corrupting, maybe thats where your lsass.exe went...
i have corsair xms and has been stable a long time now.

  • System Rebuild - Cannot sync purchased songs with IPOD

I recently had to rebuild my laptop, starting with the OS (Yes, it is a Windows machine . Before I did this, I copied all of my songs out of my music folder onto an external drive.
I thought that is what I would need to do. But I sense that there is more to it.
Upon rebuild, I copied all of those songs into the new my music folder. When I opened Itunes...they were all there. All 1233 of them. However, after syncing with my IPOD...it would only sync the songs that came from CD. All that were purchased are not on my IPOD. They remain in my itunes folder.
Does anyone know what I need to do? We are talking approximately 350 songs that I have purchased on Itunes...so it is substantive.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you reauthorise your PC after you restored Windows and reloaded iTunes? Do the songs themselves play in iTunes? For more on authorising have a look at this page:

  • TS4185 Facetime won't launch after system rebuild

My hard drive crashed last week and I have finally retrieved everything that was "lost". Every application is running fine, except for Facetime. It will not launch at all, just bounces a couple of times in the dock. It did open once today, but froze up almost immediately. Is there a way to reinstall Facetime since I got it from the App Store? I just can't figure this one out.
    Imac, 10.6.8, Facetime 1.0.2
It worked great before the crash, and I have it on my iPad and it works fine there as well.

UPDATE: I searched through and deleted any Library files containing Facetime, then I was able to do a new install fronm the App store. It installed fine, and now will launch, BUT…
I am unable to connect with anyone. It will call and try to connect with another acoount, but it immediately freeze up and drops the call. Same thing if they try to contact me. I here the call, accept, then video freezes and call is dropped. Now what?

  • Had to rebuild system: Media Offline (in red) on some clips. WTH? How to reconnect?

This is likely siple, but I'm stumped. My O.S. (Win7 Pro) became hopelesly corupted, so I was forced to reinstall. I'm done, CS5 back up and running, but I have a project that is acting wonky.
ABout a dozen of the clips in the timeline/sequence are RED and show as Media Offline. Now, when I open the project I don't get a popup looking for them. The clips are all AVI files and I have checked and yes, they are where they are supposed to be.
What is the process of having Premiere Pro understand where they are again? I'm not finding an answer that works.
Thanks again. I am sure I will have other questions.
Oh yeah, like, how do I get Media Encoder to stop using my SSD drive (my C drive) as the location where it does it's thing? You know... you Export to the Queue and it bring up Media Encoder and the sequence might be headed for the drive you tell it, but it clearly shows the C drive as the temp place or whatever. I made the change long ago, but now forget.

With system rebuilds, or when migrating to a new system, installed CODEC's are often forgotten. Project A worked, and then after the change, one gets the "Media Not  Supported... " error message.
Glad that you found the issue. I will be doing, a couple of new machines, and hope that I have made adequate notes on which CODEC's I need to install on them.
That said, I have one caveat: often, a user is temped to just download and install an "all-inclusive" CODEC "pack," rather than step through the list, one at a time. I urge anyone to NOT do that. Install what you need, when you need it, and if there are commercial versions vs free versions, spend the few $'s to go "to the source."
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Can I install Encore 2.0 without Bridge? New rebuild in process

I am in the process of a system rebuild. I have installed Adobe CS3 Web Premium which of course comes with Bridge CS3. Now I want to re install my Encore 2.0 which comes with an older version of Bridge as part of the package. Now I am worried that
A> The installer will try to install Bridge old version and mess up the new one.
    and/or
B> If there is an option to install just Encore without Bridge (cant remember the sequence) will Encore 2 talk to Bridge CS3, or vice versa?
How should I go about this? I now have all my Adobe apps running really sweet except for this one and I dont want to mess things up!
    Thanks for any advice.
    J

Hmm... guess it depends on the individual computer, or exactly what Encore and/or Premiere are doing at the time... 'cause I know I've read messages from people who have tried task switching, and whatever they were doing promptly stopped
I didn't pay much attention (can't even remember if it was Encore or Premiere, but think Premiere) but it seems to me that if the program was DOING something, like rendering, the operation failed when focus shifted to another program
Oh well... I've always just started Encore or Premiere and walked away for awhile unti it was done
So... I guess the best thing to do for anyone who wants to know... start something going in Encore or Premiere and then Alt-Tab to another program, and see what happens

  • CSCul50066 - Upgrade fails due to lack of disk space in the /common partition

I noticed this has only 1 and 2 star ratings after bumping into this issue myself, so I figured I would help out the original poster and others who are experiencing this issue.
Presumably, the original poster is intending to advise that we read the CUCM 10.0(1) Upgrade Guide, and view the Pre-Upgrade Tasks therein.  These (the bullet points below) seem to be the salient options contained in that section.  I used the "Free Common Space COP file" option to resolve my disk space issue and allow my upgrade.  I found the .cop file in the following download area on CCO:

It is called:  "VMware Disk Size Reallocation COP file: This COP file allows UCM VMs to increase the size of their vDisk(s) without requiring a system rebuild.
    ciscocm.free_common_space_v1.1.cop.sgn "
    • Use the Cisco Log Partition Monitoring Tool to adjust the low and high watermarks to reduce the traces
and remove unnecessary log files. Cisco recommends that you adjust the low watermark value to 30,
and the high watermark value to 40. After the upgrade, you must restore the high and low watermarks
to their original values in order to avoid premature purging of traces. The default value for the high
watermark is 85. The default value for the low watermark is 80. For more information about using the
Cisco Log Partition Monitoring Tool, see the Cisco Unified Real-Time Monitoring Tool Administration
    Guide.
    • Use the Disk Expansion COP file (ciscocm.vmware-disk-size-reallocation-<latest_version>.cop.sgn) to
expand the vDisk size if your virtual environment has additional available disk space. Ensure that you
review the Readme file that supports this COP file before you proceed.
    • Use the Free Common Space COP file (ciscocm.free_common_space_v<latest_version>.cop.sgn). This
COP file removes the inactive side in the common partition to increase available disk space without
requiring a system rebuild. Ensure that you review the Readme file that supports this COP file before
    you proceed.
    • Manually remove outdated or unused firmware files from the TFTP directory. You can remove these
files using the TFTP File Management page in the OS Administration interface, or you can use the file
list tftp and file delete tftp commands from the command line interface.

  • Cannot get CS2 to work, and it won't let me reinstall it or remove it.

Right this second I am so upset with Adobe I could spit!
When I try to pull up Illustrator CS2, it shows up and shuts down, badaboom.  When I try to do a reinstall, I click on the first 'continue' and it says that the install has been interrupted, and shuts down, even if I let it sit there for half an hour.  Wnen I go into Windows remove-program, Illustrator CS2 shows up, but the 'remove' option doesn't, and Illustrator 10.0, which is installed, doesn't even show.
In the past month I've had problems with Bridge, am currently having problems with PhotoShop CS4 (it won't see the pen functions for my Wacom tablet), and now this with Illustrator, and right this second a customer wants a CS2 graphic - right now!  If I could get the program to run or reinstall I could meet the requirement, however, I can't even delete it.
And plese don't tell me to spend more money to upgrade.  That's not how it should work.  I'm retired, work on an extremely limited budget, and cannot afford upgrading at this time.

I've reached a point where all offered alternatives seem exhausted, and I must now do a complete system rebuild. CleanSweep doesn't even do a thorough job.
I'm on record, from my purchasing history, of being a solid Adobe citizen.  However, this circumstance is, quite possibly, one of the most unacceptable that I've ever encountered.  For one, no 'app' should ever require a rebuild.  For two, no later version of another app should ever disallow reinstalling the earlier app (because I upgrade to PhotoShop CS4 I can't reinstall DreamWeaver CS3?).  Also, while this might be a 'known' problem, as a user, I don't see that highlighted in Adobe advertising as it absolutely should be.  Maybe there should be a banner on all products that says, "You MUST buy complete Suite upgrades!"
Sorry, but as someone with a fair history in software development and deployment, this is not proper.  But then I'm 'past my prime' on such matters perhaps.
