System recovery built into Windows 7 64-bit

Greetings to all,  How do I create a system restore point, using a date that I choose ?  I need to pick a date before the incident happend. The date listed are when the incident happened.Thank you Ldxrunner.

If there is no restore point in the time period you want to go back to, then you're not going to be able to.
To create a restore point right now, you can do so through System Restore itself.

  • Recovery drive corrupted Windows 7 64-bit

Don't turn on your computer anymore.
Take your computer to a professional who can possibly recover whatever data may be recoverable on your hard drive. Tell the professional the software you downloaded that started causing the problem regarding the "Windows not genuine" message appearing
so the professional removes that software from the recovery if they can.
The professional will be able to diagnose what the issue with the harddrive or your computer is. Possibly the hard drive is failed and no data can be recovered from it. Possibly something on the laptops motherboard is bad so the hard drive can not be accessed.
The laptop may need a new hard drive. Which may require the professional to install Windows 64 bit OS on the new harddrive.
    Plan to spend money.
May be cheaper to buy new laptop and throw old laptop away.
Don't install that software on your laptop again.

  • System Recovery Options in Windows 7 (MBP and Parallels)

I realize it is probably debatable (perhaps at best) if this belongs here but I have borked my Windows 7 installation on my MacBookPro running Snow Leopard and I now see this after opening Parallels and either starting or shutting down the virtual machine:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15285654/Screen%20shot%202011-11-25%20at%2011.13.16%20AM .png
I am trying to follow some system recovery recommendations and I can't quite figure out if I need to hold down "Fn + F8" upon a Restart of the Virtual Machine - or if I should put the install Disk in and then somehow /boot/ to the CD Rom or what:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-are-the-system-recovery-options -in-Windows-7
If anyone has any advice I'd love to fix this problem without a full re-install of Win 7.
    Thanks.

Thanks - but I can't seem to install it! Even in compatibility mode. I get an error box telling me to check nothing else is running (...), and a message saying it has encountered error code -6003.
Could this have something to do with me running Windows 7 x64?
    Thank you...

  • System Recovery disk for Windows 8.1

Hi, I have upgraded my pc from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Every thing went ok. Now I have upgraded it to Windows 8.1. So far every thing went fine. However, can some one tell me how I can create a System Recovery Disk at this stage? I have managed to create
    a Recovery Drive USB stick.

    Hi,
According to your description, I suggest you use system image backup to create a System Image.
You may refer to the following steps:
1.Press Win+Q, search File history. Then click it in the display list.
2.In the File History control panel that appears, look in the lower left corner. The option you're looking for is System Image Backup. Click that, and the familiar Create a System Image wizard appears.
    Hope this helps.

  • System Update Error on Windows XP 64 bit

When I try to run System Update on my T410 which I have just installed Windows XP 64 bit on, I get the following error message.
    Searching for Updates
An error occurred while gathering user information.
System Update does nothing after that.

    Hello,
I don't believe that Lenovo ever shipped a T410 with Windows XP Professional 64-bit Edition, so you'll likely need to manually download device drivers for the various hardware components from the various silicon manufacturers' web sites (i.e., Intel, nVidia and so forth).

  • Backup recovery from dead Windows 7 32-bit machine to new Windows 7 64- bit machine.

My windows 7 32-bit laptop (Toshiba Satillite) stopped working suddenly due to a damaged motherboard. Having been told that a new motherboard would cost more than a new computer i decided to buy a new laptop. My new laptop (also a Toshiba Satillite) has
windows 7 64-bit installed on it.
Having setup my new laptop, i need to restore some files (Emails, internet favourites etc) from the last backup i made of my broken laptop. This backup was made in November 2011 and is saved on my external harddrive.
Can anyone tell me how i get these files from the backup onto my new Windows 64-bit computer?
    Thanks for you help

  • T500 Recovery disk for Windows 7 64 bit

I have received Recovery diskWindow 7,64 bit and they do not appear to be valid.
Does anyone have the same recovery disk? If yes, do you have three files in theWindows 7 statup menu after installing the recovery disks?

    Hi,
please apologize, but I'm a bit lost.
In you first post you noticed following: "I have received Recovery diskWindow 7,64 bit and they do not appear to be valid."
I thought, that you have some issue with the maing Disks?
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Please note, that the Recovery CD/DVDs are made for multiple systems with multiple configuration. The correct installation of the correct drivers is accomplished due to multiple scripts, that are executed, which detects your system configuraiton and according to their output, the appropriate drivers will get installed.
I wanted to remark this as, there might be some differences in the installation of two systems, when they have other configuration.
Please feel free to correct me if I missed some point.
    Cheers

  • System Recovery hangs on "Windows could not complete the installation"

Just purchased the recovery media from HP (3 DVD + App/Driver DVD, see below), followed instructions on clean recovery and the install hangs at first Windows login with the following error:
"Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation"
Well, I've started fresh 3 times now with the same results. (3 hours each time)
I was able to start task manager at this error, I even tried to hold down shift and click restart. Doing that, I get the message windows can't be installed in safe mode. I was thinking of doing a plain Windows install but there is no product key on the laptop
    Thoughts?

Problem resolved. Make sure you use the boot from DVD UEFI option.

  • System Recovery without disc windows 8.1 help please

    Hello.
My computer originally came with windows 7.  I upgraded to windows 8.1 professional.  My computer has a partitioned hard drive with only 2 visible files, one of which is called RECOVERY.  I can't make a recovery CD as I do not have an optical drive on this computer.  Recovery Manager will not recognize the partition.  From the F11 screen, it keeps telling me to insert media.  I want to bring my computer back to the original state it was when I purchased it to start from scratch.  Can anyone tell me how to do this?  I've been searching and searching and keep getting nowhere.
    Thank you !

    Hi there
Identify your laptop model name, product number:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c00033108
The Windows upgrading must have corrupted the HP recovery partition, so you might not be able to recovery from it any more.
If you haven't created recovery media to now, You have to order recovery USB (only) directly from HP in your region and use that to reinstall everything back to factory settings:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=bph07143
    Perform Factory reset:

    need boot usb drive

    Hi Richard,
I'm sorry you had to go through some pretty emotional trauma with your U410 getting stolen and all. However, I do hope you are back on track now.
I haven't been as unfortunate as you. However, I need to restore Win 7 on my U410. I have with me the recovery disks purchased from Lenovo. My question is, were you able to get the image onto a USB disk to perform the restoration? If so, could you point me to some instructions?
Seriously, Lenovo ships laptop specific recovery images on optical disks for their laptops that do not have optical drives. Makes no sense to me. It's time they sell recovery images on USB drives.
