System recovery for windows vista
Goes through the recovery discs ok. But when it gets to "completing installation" "install windows" part then I get a message that states "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware. U had Vista SP1 and 2 installed prior to the recovery attempt. Anny ideas?

Unfortunately, you would need to contact Microsoft to obtain a legitimate version of the operating system. Technically, you could download it online, since you can download almost anything online, but I don't support or condone that. Especially since the operating system could be corrupted or filled with virus.
Anyway, the Microsoft phone number is 1 (855) 987 7592. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Getting error code 0x400110020000100b while doing system recovery for windows vista 32 bit.
I attempted to do a system recovery on my Laptop using the included recovery discs and got this error 0x400110020000100B. THe disc looked pretty beat so last week I ordered a new set. Now when I got to put disc 2 in (at 80% complete) I get the same error. I called customer support and he took me through the F9 process to no avail and I've also tried the F11 approach which got me no where. I'm frustrated because I really don;t have the money for a new laptop.
Laptop is a HP Pavilion DV6700.
Any help would be appreciated more than you know.
System is Windows Vista 32 bit
The guy on the phone said "well ya know thats a pretty old computer"...gee thanks..

Difficulty installing Rescue and Recovery 4.2 patch for Windows Vista
Which between System Update Installation History and Post-Installation Status Report should I believe, when they tell a different story?
When I run thinkVantage System Update, the post-intallation status report indicates that the following fails to install:
* Rescue and Recovery 4.2 patch for Windows Vista
* ThinkVantage Client Security Solution for Vista SP1
* Lenovo Wireless WAN Activation Patch
However, when I open the ThinkVantage System Update History Log, I read that the above updates have been installed.
Which one should I believe?
I'm willing to believe that the update has been installed, but whenever I run System Update, I keep getting the same message that the above three need to be installed.
Should I keep ignoring the message? If not, what else could I try?
I have a T60 running Vista with SP1 installed.Hi privard,
Thanks for your feedback. Anyhow, let me see how i could help to sort this out for you.

Drivers for Windows Vista 64-bit on Satellite L300-1AM
When I can get drivers for Windows Vista 64-bit? Or I need to intall 32-bit drivers on my 64-bit Vista operating system?
Please links ;)[Toshiba - Download Drivers|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp]
In the Drivers Search Page (the link above) select these filters:
_Product type:_ +Notebook+
_Family:_ +Satellite+
_Product Series:_ +Satellite A Series+ (don't try the L series if you want to find anything useful)
_Operating System:_ +Windows Vista 64 Bit+
_Country:_ +World Wide+ (you have to select this in order to get rid of those multiple country options available for the modem)
_Language:_ +English+ (obviously)
Don't modify any other filter. The results will be about 100 (maybe more, but the site is set to show up to 100 results).
Advices:
1. Download the latest versions only (there's no point in downloading multiple versions of the same driver, yet they will be shown in the search results area)
2. Download what's specific to your laptop only (network - RealTek, both wired and wireless; chipset and graphics - Intel; modem - Toshiba; webcam - Chicony; there's no point in downloading anything from otehr vendors - except maybe the touchpad, but Windows can handle it properly without aditional drivers)
3. Don't download any BIOS or Firmware file; they might not be for your notebook, and installing the wrong ones is a sure path to screwing up your notebook (and losing the warranty); if you need them upgraded, go to the download page for your specific model, Windows XP or Windows Vista 32 Bit drivers (since they are OS independent anyway)
Toshiba utilities (DVD Player, ConfigFree, etc.) should be OK too (again, download the latest version only).
BTW, I own 2 Toshiba notebooks (L300-1AM and L300-1AN; quite similar, the differences are in HDD and CPU only) and I had the same problem: no 64-bit drivers (and the same "support"). Quite strange the idea that Toshiba is testing these 64-bit drivers before releasing them (according to a previous post), since the same drivers, for the very same chipsets - but installed on other models - are available. Windows Vista 64-bit is out on the market for nearly 2 years now, the production of these models has already been stopped (and I assume they have not been produced during one night only :) ), yet they had no time to test the drivers... High-class support from Toshiba! -
hi,
I like to know wich register cleaner or tune up software is the best to use for windows vista- windows7- and windows 8.1.
I like to know the proffesional version of it which I can use for my clients every where unlimitted to clean unwanted keys of registry and improve performance.(specialy in Dutch language).
thanks
johan
h.davidI second what Kate Li said. There's no need for a registry cleaner! Don't do it! I run Windows systems for years and they keep running as light and fast as when they're new.
What I *do* recommend is regularly reviewing the list of programs set to run in the background using a tool to show you what starts in various ways called Autoruns, which can be found here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx
This tool can be used to disable things you don't need.

Service pack 1 for windows vista home premium
Recently my computer had a virus. I had to do a complete system restore. Now that I have done this I am trying to install the service pack 1 for this operating system and I get to the third step and the progress bar hardly moves. I have let it run for
up to 8 hours and no progression. I tried to install the service pack 2 but it says I need 1 first. Need lots of help on this issue please. Windows update not catching that I need this.Hi,
During the Windows Vista SP1 installation, this issue occurs when a third-party application holds open a file or locks a file that the Service Pack installation program
has to use. For example, a third-party antivirus or antispyware application may cause this problem. If you are running any third-party applications such as Spyblocker, Internet or web accelerators (programs designed to boost the speed of the Internet connection),
security or anti-virus programs (McAfee, Norton, etc.), I recommend temporarily disabling or shutting them down during the troubleshooting process. Please be sure to re-enable them once the process has completed.
I recommend running Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool. System resources, such as file data, registry data, and even in-memory data, can develop
inconsistencies during the lifetime of the operating system. These inconsistencies can be caused by various hardware failures or software issues. In some cases, these inconsistencies can affect the Windows servicing store, and they can cause software updates
not to work. We can run Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool to resolve these inconsistencies. When Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool detects incorrect manifests, files, or registry data, it might replace the
incorrect data with a corrected version. Please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Run Reset Windows Update Tool and System Update Readiness Tool
1. Please download and run Reset Windows Update Tool from the link below:
http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9665683
2. Please download and run System Update Readiness Tool from the link below according to the System Type:
System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista 32-bit

3. Restart the computer and install Windows Vista SP1. Let’s reinstall
SP1 standalone installer in Clean Boot.
For your reference, I have attached these steps as below:
Step 1: Download Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Standalone Installer
====================================================
1. Download Windows Vista SP1 from the link below according to the System Type:
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista 32-bit (Size: 544.3MB)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=f559842a-9c9b-4579-b64a-09146a0ba746&DisplayLang=en
Windows Vista Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista 64-bit (Size: 873.0MB)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=86d267bd-dfcd-47cf-aa76-dc0626dcdf10&DisplayLang=en
2. Please save it on the Desktop.
Step 2: Install Windows Vista SP1 in Clean Boot Mode
=========================================
Please disable all startup items and third party services when booting to avoid conflict when installing
Vista SP1.:
1. Click "Start", type: MSCONFIG in the search box and press Enter.
Note: Please click "Continue" if the "User Account Control" window pops up.
2. Click "Services", check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3. Click "Startup", click "Disable All", click "OK" and restart the computer.
Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't affect the system or other programs. We can manually run these programs later.
4. Please double click the downloaded Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Standalone Installer and follow the instructions to install Windows
Vista SP1.
To restore the computer to use a Normal Startup, repeat step 1 above. Then click "Normal Startup" on the General tab, click "OK", and then restart the computer.
Please take your time with the steps and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. If there are any questions or concerns, please post here for further
research.

After updated to iTunes 11.1.4 for windows vista , I was unable to open iTunes and it keep error message. My iphone unable to USB hotspot the internet to computer. Pls Help
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

hi all,
well today i installed the oracle biee on my machine(having windows vista).
Do i need to download the seperate dump of oracle biee for windows vista or dump for windows xp will work?????hi All,
Actually when i installed oracle biee on my machine (having windows vista) and replaced all corresponding files (like .rpd file & catalog and modified the nqsconfig.ini & instanceconfig.xml files) and tried to start the oracle bi presentation service, it was not starting(though i already started the oracle bi server and java host service).
i got the following error prompt:
"Windows could not start BI Presentation server on local computer.
For more information, review the system event log.if this is non-microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service specific error code-1"
Then i again replaced all the files to the default one(paint.rpd and paint catalog) and again tried to restart the service but this time i got the "error : 1053 Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
so i just want to confirm whether we need some patch or utility to run the oracle biee on windows vista
please help me out
