System recovery now Itunes won't load
I uninstalled and reinstalled. Itunes just isn't working. I have an HP and did the system recovery. No idea - it's not really giving me an error message. Any help would be appreciated.
are you getting a "some of the required files are missing" message, nairb?
in this context that's usually produced by a System Restore "over the top" of a fresh itunes/QT install stripping out installation registry entries for the new programs. there's a bit more information on it in the following document:

usually, the best thing to do is to try to completely scrape out your existing itunes and quicktime, and reinstalling them on a blank slate. try employing the technique i describe in the following post:

System Reinstalled-now iTunes won't open
I downloaded the new iTunes yesterday and today had some computer problems and had to go reinstall my system from Monday. Now, iTunes won't open at all, I just keep getting the error "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occured." Any ideas of what I can do to fix this?

I went to http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925 and did a complete removal and reinstallation of iTunes. You MUST follow the directions here exactly...it's more than just iTunes that must be removed, and it MUST be done in the order in which the support article says. I followed the exact instructions, and iTunes is back on my machine (no more C runtime error) and you do NOT lose your music...it's all in my library, as it was before.

after clicking "yes" to the question "do you want to update itunes now", i waited 2 hours and 15 minutes and it was still "loading". i turned computer off thinking something was wrong. now itunes won't open at all. do i need to download itunes again?
Did you actually download the installer from Apple or did you use Software Update. You can download the installer http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would consider repairing permissions first using Disk Utility because something caused this to go wrong the first time. And of course make a backup of your whole library first. It shouldn't happen but some have complained about their libraries being wiped out by iTunes updates. Better safe... -

ITunes won't load since the last update. I tried updating to the new beta version, and it still won't load. I have lost my contacts on my iPhone and now I can't load iTunes. I do have another computer running an older version of iTunes and would like to transfer my contacts file to the older computer and then sync my iPhone to that computer. Can someone please help me with transfering my contacts file to the other computer? It would be nice if iTunes would load on this computer, the one I use all the time but it seems this problem is not being addressed. iTunes never starts after this message. I've checked Windows Task Manager to see what programs are running. I've tried using the iTune comaptibility option but that didn't change anything. iTunes has always worked, now nothing. Nothing happens when I plug in my iPhone, or when I start iTunes. So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
Open the "Windows" folder.
Open the "System32" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.) -
ok I have tried everything I know how to do..I try to download iTunes and I get an error that states:

HELP!Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

I just updated my operating system to OSX 10.7.4. Now Safari won't load.
I ran disc utilities and it still wont load. It tells me that Safari quit unexpectedly and gives me the option to submit a report of to re-open.
I have tried to find an updated Safari online but only find 5.1.7 updates for Windows.

I've swapped to i5c (great phone) so my hubby has my i4s with pay as u go but now it won't load or sent e-mails! I've tried tech support suggested by Talkmobile for 'fix' but it hasn't solved problem,any ideas?..

In the case of drive directory damage or problems with permissions, the solution is usually to use Apple's Disk Utility to repair the disk. Of course, you won't be able to perform this operation normally (simply launching the Disk Utility application, located in Applications/Utilities, and initiating a disk repair) if your system will not startup. So two options exist:
* Insert your Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) media (DVD or CD) and restart the computer while holding down the "C" key. Once the computer has booted from the installation disc, select "Utilities" from the menubar and open Disk Utility. Repair the disk, then quit Disk Utility and restart your system.
* Alternatively, you can repair the disk while booted in single user mode if you do not have access to a retail Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) DVD/CD. To startup in single user mode, hold down the "Command" and "S" keys simultaneously at startup. Once properly booted, type the command fsck at the prompt. Repeat these process until no errors appear. -

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

I always backup and archive any and all versions I've used and downloaded, or at least until I feel safe with the current version.
Setting a backup also lets a system be restored to prior point in time.

Itunes won't load CDs automatically and I have to restart it everytime to load 1 CD. I have ensured I have latest Itunes, latest DVD driver, start itunes from program library in safe mode but nothing works. Any ideas ?
I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.
