System refersh PRD to SANDBOX

Hi all
we are planning to system refresh through offline backup restore from Tape drive. we don't have downtime so we have to restore backup. for this pls guide me briefly.

Hello Yograj
You can use the latest usertrace file which will have all the directory locations of the system.
Ensure you have similar kind of drives on SANDBOX if its windows like if you have drives on PRD as C,D,E,F where oracle data files were located then you need to have similar drive mapping on SANDBOX.
If its UNIX all you need to do is delete all the lines before STARTUP NOMOUNT and change the
CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE DATABASE "SID " NORESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG to CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE "SID" NORESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG
Save the file as .sql file and run it from sqlplus prompt.
It should create the control file.

we have landscape for ERP2004 DEV-TST-PRD and made system copy PRD on TST.
Also landscape for BW+EP, systems BWD-BWP, and source systems TST/PRD are connected to BWD/BWP.
After copy (according to manual, did by consultant) on BWD we have problems with source system on TST, cannot activate with message "BI is unknown in source system".
Any ideas ?

check if is set up as an RFC connection in SM59 in R/3.
run also BDLS in R/3 for converting your BW logical system.

System refresh PRD-QUA

Experts,
We have completed the system refresh using PRD system data.
part of post processing activity using t-code BDLS and and completed the Logical system conversion.
But still we observed that in BI system still prd system logical system (as below) name available on the infoobjects, because of the some of the jobs failed at BI system.

PDK install - is it required in all systems including PRD

We have EP 6.0 SP12 and have the Portal Developer Kit installed in the DEV and sandbox portal systems and then transport our content to QA and then to Prod.
The developers may require the portal developer kit to be installed in QA and PRD so that they can make use of the iviews/roles in the PDK under the Java Developement tab so that they can monitor their development. Should the PDK be installed in QA and PRD or should it only be installed in DEV and SBX and view what they require in other iviews already in the system? Would this be a security risk enabling people to bypass the proper change management process if it was intalled in PRD? If anybody has any input as to how they handle this it would be much appreciated.

Virtual cube with services after copy system from PRD to SBox

Hi
I have problem.
The Virtual cube 0FIGL_VC1 with FM "RS_BCT_FIGL_DATA_GET_VC1"
works well on PRD but not on SBox.
I think, i did everything on SBox in t-code SM59, WExx.
Infopackages load data from connected (not R3-PRD but R3-SBox) system perfectly.
What I must do with this virtual cube so that it works well ?

takes data from basic cube "0FIGL_C01" not from R3
See t-code se37, tab "Import" and parameter Name "I_BASIC_INFOPROV".
If you have a problem with charging data, see this parameter
or rather basic cube and data transfer to this cube.

Copy table data between to two client in different system ( QAS - PRD )

i make a copy client from PRD to QAS , it success only on table have issue ( BSIS )
original size & number of records from source client (900):
in the new target client (705)
so what is the way / procedure to complete the remaining records / lines ??

There are no procedure, technical ways do exist to copy data from a system to another (mainly at DB level : export tools, database links...) but
1) copy / export a 10M lines table will take some time
2) tables like BSIS that are an index table for BSEG should be copied on the same timeline as all the accounting related tables.
Thus even if it is technically possible to get back the data from PRD to QAS you will create inconsistencies as the latest accounting documents from production will only be present in BSIS on your QAS system... Check with developer / consultants if they can stand this inconsistency

System copy Prd to Qas

I have to copy Prd to Qas. Windows 2003, SQL 2005, Netweaver 2004s SR3 (BI 7.0) ABAP+JAVA
I have gone through the guiide and also through note - 151603. I can see that there are 2 different methods I can use.
One is Db Specific system copy and the other is Db independant system copy. Can some one tell me which one to use? What is the real difference? I am a bit confused on this part

R/3 System Copy PRD -- QA Oracle 9

Hi all,
We need to perform a system copy of Production back to QA (4.7/6.40 kernel). My previous experience with a system copy was on a 4.6C system with Oracle 8 using R3COPY. I have just downloaded the latest system copy guide 'Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy for SAP® Systems Based on SAP Web Application Server 6.20' and for Oracle it says that backup/restore method is not recommended or support and to use R3LOAD. We are not keen to use this method as it requires a longer Production downtime for us (more than twice what would be required for offline backup), also we would need the space available on the disk.
Has anyone still used the backup/restore method as described in the 4.6C system copy guide with Oracle 9? I don't see why this method is not supported since for us it would be much easier.

Not much into system copies with the new tools, but I think it is possible to use backup/restore.
The only thing is that you will have a little "mess" -> the tablespace name will have the old "SID", same happens with the schema. Can't create a logical system

Just created a system copy and can't create a logical system. I get an errror message <b>change and transport system not configured and then action terminated</b> in transaction BD54. I don't need a transport system.
Can anyone help me with this

What I usually do after a system copy regarding to the transport configuration are:
1. Call SE06. There are some dialog boxes to delete the current transport configuration, answer with 'Yes'. Means delete it.
2. Call STMS and attach the transport to the transport domain or create a new domain. If it is a standalone system, sandbox for example, I create a virtual system and link the transport as DEV - PRD transport system, where PRD is the virtual one. So, the transport requests will be transportable. Otherwise there will not be cofile and data created when a transport request is created. This is not transportable.
3. Call SCC4 and assigned the logical system.
4. Schedule BDLS to run sometime during the night in background.

Solution Manager's system landscape

I have one very basic question.
I believe I read somewhere that we need at least two systems for Solution Manager, DEV environment and PRD environment. Is this correct? If so, how do we transport the SMSY and Solution definitions from DEV to PRD?
If there is some kind of good explanatory documents, would you please give me the link to them?

Yes I knew we only need one solman to manage DEV, QA, and PRD sattelite systems. What I want is some kind of official document from SAP that states "only one system is required, additional sandbox is just recommended."

Adding transports to import queue after System Refresh

Hello All,
Every time we do system refresh from PRD to Sandbox as a part of post refresh activity we need to import all the transports which are in the import queue of PRD(which are not yet imported to PRD) to our Sandbox.
But its a tedious job, as in the import queue many old transports which are still not yet imported to PRD will b there.
So may b around 150+ transport requests in the import queue of PRD, which we need to add those manually from path
Extras---->other requests -
> Add. doing same for 150 times. cant even imagine dat work.
So my question is, Is there any way to get the replica of import queue of PRD to Sandbox.
Some where i read like transport buffer in the path /usr/sap/trans/buffer/<SID> of the system will have list of all transports in the import queue.
So can i copy dat file and replace SID with Sandbox SID and place it in the Sandbox under same path.
Please suggest or give me a correct solution.

I had read about using script like tp addtobuffer inorder to add the transports to the import queue some time back.
But forwarding transports is a new method i got to know here which even looks easy too. It would be great if any 1 tell me how forwarding works.
Also it would b fine if who all uses this method of forwarding to add transports to import queue do reply about any problems faced while forwarding requests.
Bcoz in our landscape , transport route is as below
Dev to QA and Sandbox then from QA transports will move to Production.
So after refresh forwarding Transports from PRD to Sandbox, how does this work. Please share your suggestions.

System copy problem...No transfer rules available

We are facing a problem in getting the Transfer Rules...
1.we did a system copy from PRD system and created a Sandbox system .
2.After the system copy the problem came from the source system.....i.e for the datasource's in the table RSOLTPSOURCE the mapping is showing for 2 systems....CRM PRD system & CRM SANDBOX system....
3.Coz of this issue the Transfer rules are not available and the all the DS are inactive......
4.I tried with the FM RS_TRANSTRUC_ACTIVATE_ALL but im getting message as no transfer structure is available.
5.When i tried to manually activate the DS from BW side it is asking to create TRANSFER RULE.
Please help me to sort it out.....

I also raised a OSS to SAP ....what they suggested is....
According the logs in BWS there was definitely a systemcopy from BWP to BWS, but the BDLS logs looks very strange, which actually did not converted anything, because the administration tables containing some very strange entries.
Lets take the datasource 0crm_sales_act_1 for example. If you check this datasource in table RSOLTPSOURCE you can see, that it exists currently for both source systems:
OLTPSOURCE LOGSYS OBJVERS
0CRM_SALES_ACT_1 CMPCLNT501 A
0CRM_SALES_ACT_1 CMSCLNT501 A
Unfortunately the root cause of this is unkown, but most probably it is caused by an improper copy procedure, where the consulting note
886102 was not followed.
To solve the problem, please follow the below steps:
1. Implement note 1405233 and 1336119 to your system 2. Go to RSA1 and delete the source System CMS.
3. With function module rsar_logical_system_delete delete the source system CMP:
I_LOGSYS CMPCLNT501
I_FORCE_DELETE X
I_NO_TRANSPORT X
I_NO_AUTHORITY X
4. In your productive BW (BWP) please create a transport request which contains all the source system dependent objects for CMP. Please check note 886102 scenario B3 step 2 for details.
5. In BWS, please recreate the source system to CMS and activate it but please do not replicate the datasources yet.
6. In BWS please maintain the table RSLOGSYSMAP and map CMP to CMS and import the transport request created in step 4.
Please be aware, that such a constellation happens mostly, if some steps are missed or are not carried out properly from consulting note 886102. Please get in touch with your basis colleagues and provide them this note, so the next time such a problem does not occur.

Authority issues after homogeneous system copy - as/400 v5r1 - R/3 4.6C

I am trying to complete a homogeneous system copy of an R/3 system.
The source system is PRD - the target system is TST. The hardware platforms are different (both iSeries) but the kernel/pdf/OS patch levels are all identical.
The process I have follow so far is this:
1. Preprocessing of the R3PRDDATA library.
2. SAVLIB of R3PRDDATA.
3. Delete old R3TSTDATA lib on target system using QSECOFR
4. Create new R3TSTDATA using SQLUTIL as TSTOFR (TSTOFR is my user for the target system)
5. CHGOBJOWN OBJ(R3TSTDATA) OBJTYPE(*LIB) NEWOWN(TSTOFR)
6. GRTOBJAUT OBJ(R3TSTDATA) OBJTYPE(LIB) USER(SAP02) AUT(CHANGE)
7. Detach existing Journal, create new journal receiver, create new journal ...

So from this point the system will start without a problem. However whenever I try and write something to the database I get this type of error (via SM21 or ABAP dump) message:

Database error text........: "Not authorized to object SCPRACTR in R3TSTDATA
type *FILE. Job=379089/TST02/WP00"
I have also run GRTOBJAUT for the - TST02 user on the R3TSTDATA lib but still the same problem.
I'm certain the issue is related to the user on the 400 that is actually used by the work processes, and that user does not have the relevant rights to R3TSTDATA.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem will be humbly received.

Connecting two BI systems to one R/3 system

Hi Experts,
We are upgrading our BW 3.x to 7. This activity we are doing on a sandbox server. Now for integration testing we want to connect this BI sandbox to R3 QA system. RFC destination parameters are maintained in both the systems.
Now when we go for source system Restore option from DW workbench, it pops up with message -
"Connection AA is used in the ARQ100 (R/3 QA) source system as a connection ABQ100 (BI QA).
Do you want to delete this connection in the source system? Connection is restored after it has been deleted successfully."
I checked in RSBASIDOC table in R3 QA system, there exists this entry to ABQ100.
My question is - without touching the R/3 QA -> BI QA connection, can I create a connection between R/3 QA & BI sandbox? & How?
or Can we create new connection similar to AA for this new BI sandbox system?
I have already gone thru SAP Note - 775568, but it does not mention anything related to my scenario.
So appreciate help from experts.

Both the BI systems have diff Logical Sys names. And at this time I am not concerned about delta.
But as I mentioned earlier, while trying to restore source system from new BI sandbox server, it is asking to delete the connection from R/3 QA to BI QA which I dont want.
My question is How to establish this new connection without disturbing the existing R3 QA to BI QA connection.
