System Refresh activity

Does any body have a clear explanation for the system refresh activity.
and is System copy and  refresh one and the same
if some one has steps please send them to me
thank u

Pavan ,
when you are performing the client copy you are coping the tables and indexes.
if your system have different patch level i way cause inconsistancy while client copy.
Please check this forun to clear the situation

  • Retain background jobs and its variants before system refresh activity

    Hello All,
    I am going to perform system refresh activity on quaity system on monday. Customer wants to retain the background jobs and its variants in the quality system. Please guide me and let me know the steps to retain the background jobs and its variants before starting the system refresh activity.
    Regards
    Subbu

    Dear Subbu,
    You have to export the TBT* Tables to retain the jobs. You can do this with R3trans:
    1. Make Export file
    2. Make Import file
    3. Make Export in Q System before Systemcopy
    4. Start Database and not SAP
    5. Make Import in Q after Systemcopy
    6. Start sap
    1. Make Export file /tmp/export_cmd
    export
    file='/tmp/export_Q.dmp'
    client=<your client>
    delete from TBTCA
    delete from TBTCB
    delete from TBTCCNTXT
    delete from TBTCCTXTT
    delete from TBTCCTXTTP

    2. Make Import file /tmp/import_cmd
    import
    file='/tmp/export_Q.dmp'
    3. Make Export in Q System before Systemcopy
    R3trans -w /tmp/Q_export.log  /tmp/export_cmd
    4. Start Database and not SAP
    sqlplus "/as sysdba"
    SQL> startup
    or
    startsap
    stopsap r3
    5. Make Import in Q after Systemcopy
    R3trans -w /tmp/Q_import.log  /tmp/import_cmd
    If you want to undo this, start the export script in P system and the Import script in Q system.
    Don't be afraid of the delete statement but without delete it doesn't work!
    6. Start sap
    startsap

  • Post System Refresh Activity - BDLS run

    Hi,
    We have finished system refresh of a QA system from Production.  We need to run BDLS now to convert the original Production logical systems to QA relevant logical systems.
    I am short of understanding of this process.  Can anyone please help me with the concept and process?
    Thanks in advance,
    Abdul

    Hi Abdul Rahim Shaik,
    BDLS will convert the logical system name for your PROD to QAS.
    For eg:
    Your source - PRDCLNT100
    Your target - QASCLNT100
    If you go to SCC4 in your QAS, u will see Prod logical system name for the client.
    Once you run BDLS after system copy, logical system name exist  in every table for PRDCLNT 100 will change to QASCLNT100.

  • Post System Refresh Activity

    Hi All,
    I did system refresh ( from PRD to QAS , platform Windows 2008 R2 and MSsql) the system was up and running fine. The system was absolutely fine  for one day and the day after the DB crashed , not sure what happened, is there a way i can find the logs through which i can come to know what exactly happened. Also post refresh when i was trying to run BDLS , the job was getting cancelled , the job log showed there is another conversion already running , when i checked the tables the conversion had already happened . Please tell me can running BDLS which cancelled many times could be the cause for the DB crash, if yes where can i find the logs for this , if not what else could have happened that the DB crashed . Thanks for your responses in advance.
    Regards
    Mrigank Aditya

    Hi Nainesh,
    Thanks for the message , yes system is up and running fine , the DB team did a restore of Production data  on Quality again , and i did the post refresh activities again , the issue what had happened last time was we were doing simultaneous refresh of two systems at a time , BI prod to BI qas and ECC prd to ECC qas , we had found a list of tables in BDLS which gets updated when we run BDLS and we run those tables only , unfortunately the files got exchanged , the ECC tables should have run on ECC machine and BI tables should have run on BI machine which didn't happen and it happened the other way round BI tables where run on ECC machine , due to which BDLS failed and the job got cancelled many times, which impacted the whole system conversion and logical update , which crashed the DB( i exactly don't know the reason what happened internally , still searching for it ) . At present the machine is up and running fine.

  • How to handle the CRM Middleware after system refresh?

    Guys,
    We are using CRM 5.0 & R/3 4.6C. We have the middleware configured and set up. We finished all inital loads & delta loads are activated as well. The system works perfectly.
    Now for some reason the client wants to refresh the R/3 system. (Basically they are copying over the R/3 Dev system to refresh the R/3 Sandbox system. Our connection is currently between the 2 sand box systems) What impact will this have on the CRM system? Will it cause mass delta downloads? I have already referred to notes 588701 & 765018. Any additional information or watch outs will be appreciated.
    Secondly what's the best practice do a refresh in the future? Is there a SAP recomendation on how to go about with system refresh when CRM & R/3 are connected?
    ARP

    Hello ARP,
    as always: It depends what to do:
    a) do you have a CRM DEV System available? If possible you should get the connection working over there and then do a Landscape Copy of the R/3 DEV + CRM DEV to the Sandbox Landscape.
    b) Let them copy the R/3 DEV to the R/3 Sandbox. Then use the Data Integrety Manager (Transaction SDIMA) to get the missing Customers, Transactions exchanged.
    In the future they normally have to do a Landscape Copy.

  • Windows 8.1 will not activate on HP19-2113w after system refresh.

    Everything was working fine on my PC.  Then the other day it crashed and said there was a disk error and that it had to scan the whole drive to find the error. It finished scanning, but windows 8.1 would not load sucessfully.  Therefore I did a system refresh thru HP recovery.  After doing that windows would start up normally, but I lost my activation.  When I tried to activate the response was "Key doesn't work try again later" or something like that.  Kept trying, no luck.  I thought it may have been an error with the system refresh, so I did the total system reset (after saving personal data).  Now I am having the same problem with activation, and If I try to navigate the normal way to the activation screen, the screen disapears.  I can get to activation using command prompt.   but key still does not work.  The key I am using I retrived from my BIOS data.  Also, I ran the refresh and reset from the origional hard drive partition.  I hope someone has a solution to this.  Thanks is advance Bill

  • System refresh backup

    Hi All,
    I am doing System Refresh, could you please suggest me how can I take the backup of printers, RFCu2019s and Logical systems
    Previously I used to note RFCu2019s but in this Landscape we have many RFC, printers and logical systems are different  from production
    Could please suggest me how can I take the backup

    Hi,
    You can Transport all spool Devices from Tx-code SPAD but need to re-configure at the target level.
    1. Go to SPAD --> Select Configuration --> Output Devices
    2. In the list of Out put Devices screen select "Edit" --> Transport --> Transport all
    It will display a pop-up window "Device definitions must be processed later in the target system". you can proceed but below procedure has to performed in the target system.
    Procedure
    In the target system, you must adapt the spool servers for each device transported. This is because the system name is used in the instance names and it differs in the target system from the name of the current system. Logical instance names are an exception; they are defined identically in both systems.
    When selecting the new spool servers, ensure the host spool device names configured on the respective host are valid (access method L).
    If you are using destination hosts (access method U or S), you must ensure that they can be accessed by the new host. Otherwise the configured device cannot be activated. If the host name of the destination host is defined differently here, you must also adapt the entry in the device definition.
    Note: To assign a new spool server, choose menu options "Utilities" -> "For output devices" -> "Assign server".
    I am not sure about the other two if found any, i will definetly share.

    Experts,
    We have completed the system refresh using PRD system data.
    part of post processing activity using t-code BDLS and and completed the  Logical system conversion.
    But still we observed that in BI system still prd system logical system (as below) name available on the infoobjects, because of the some of the jobs failed at BI system.
    RSA1->
    Data Transfer Processes
      8PB1CH0338T / PPXCLNT100 -> ZDINXXX
    Please let us know how to change the all the logical system from production system to quality system.
    Thanks

    Hi Nick,
    Thank you for the response..
    Yes we have activated and ran the replication also.
    its seems looks good  When I check the check the datasources,

  • Adding transports to import queue after System Refresh

    Hello All,
    Every time we do system refresh from PRD to Sandbox as a part of post refresh activity we need to import all the transports which are in the import queue of PRD(which are not yet imported to PRD) to our Sandbox.
    But its a tedious job, as in the import queue many old transports which are still not yet imported to PRD will b there.
    So may b around 150+ transport requests in the import queue of PRD, which we need to add those manually from path
    Extras---->other requests -
    > Add. doing same for 150 times. cant even imagine dat work.
    So my question is, Is there any way to get the replica of import queue of PRD to Sandbox.
    Some where i read like transport buffer in the path  /usr/sap/trans/buffer/<SID> of the system will have list of all transports in the import queue.
    So can i copy dat file and replace SID with Sandbox SID and place it in the Sandbox under same path.
    Please suggest or give me a correct solution.
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Thanks a lot for your reply.
    I had read about using script like tp addtobuffer inorder to add the transports to the import queue some time back.
    But forwarding transports is a new method i got to know here which even looks easy too. It would be great if any 1 tell me how forwarding works.
    Also it would b fine if who all uses this method of forwarding to add transports to import queue do reply about any  problems faced while forwarding requests.
    Bcoz in our landscape , transport route is as below
    Dev to QA and Sandbox then from QA transports will move to Production.
    So after refresh forwarding Transports from PRD to Sandbox, how does this work. Please share your suggestions.
    Regards,
    Ravi

  • Changing OPS$ passwd during system refresh

    Hi All,
    i have to do system Refresh/system copy ,i m using oracle 10g database.
    while studying the docs and sap notes,i found that after database is backed from source system and restored in target system
    .It is also required to change some passwords for OPS$ or SAP<Schema> user in table "sapuser" at OS level.
    I am totally unaware of any such activity.can someone help me in this regard,as what are the post steps after DB is restored in target system and to how to perform them.
    We are using brtools here.
    Also what is the command line for restroring DB while system copy.
    Regards,
    Vishesh S

    *Hi,*
    *1.*
    *can someone help me in this regard,as what are the post steps after DB is restored in target system and to how to perform them.*
    After doing DB restore, one has to
    a. Apply the Control files of source system database
    b. Perform DB recovery by applying available offline redo log files (based on Complete DB recovery or Point-in-time DB recovery).
    c. Then after successful DB recovery, one has to OPEN the database with RESETLOGS options.
    d. Upon successful Database instance startup, Start Target SAP system
    *2.*
    *what is the command line for restroring DB while system copy.*
    brrestore -b logfilename -m full
    e.g. brrestore -b bcnmhluz.aft -m full
    *3.*
    a) Logon using the OPS$ user ("connect /@<sid>") to determine the
    sapr3 password that is stored in the database table SAPUSER.
    Now i have no idea,that how to check the password,as i logged in using "connect /",it just got connected.
    But how will i know that what password has been set.
    In OPS$ connection mechanism, only the existence of ops$<sid>adm user requires. Under <sid>adm OS user if you execute "connect /" in SQLPLUS, then it will get connected with Database through ops$<sid>adm database user, without asking for password.
    During OPS$ connection mechanism, the SAP work processes get connected to Database using this OPS$ user. Then as a next step,  the password of Schema user (SAPSR3 or SAP<SID>) is read from the SAPUSER table from database, and then with that password od schema owner , the R/3 work processes actually get connected with Database Instance schema. So the SAPSR3 password should be same at Oracle DDIC and SAPUSER table levels.
    If you do not know the password of SAPSR3 or SAP<SID> database users, you can change them with br*tools or by the execution of the following brconnect command.
    brconnect -f chpass -o [sapr3 | sap<sid> | sap<xyz> | sapsr3] -p <new_password>
    (Refer SAP Notes 562863, 361641 as reference)
    *4.*
    *after doing a system copy/refresh, what changes i have to perform in OPS$ user.*
    If your getting with OPS$ user issue while SAP startup or R3trans -d execution, then you can refer SAP note 40024 or do the following .
    a.
    Check weather the correct OPS$<SID>ADM user exists at DB level or not ?
    SELECT * FROM DBA_USERS;
    b. If the required OPS$ user does not exist in Target DB....
    CREATE USER "OPS$<SID>ADM" DEFAULT TABLESPACE <user_tsp>  TEMPORARY TABLESPACE PSAPTEMP IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
    c. Grant roles/previleges to OPS$ user
    grant sapdba to ops$<SID>ADM;
    d. check the existence of SAPUSER table and the owner of SAPUSER table in target DB
    SELECT OWNER FROM DBA_TABLES WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'SAPUSER';
    e. If the owner of SAPUSER table is not OPS$<SID>ADM, then u need to drop it and recreate it in Database.
    -- DROP TABLE "<owner>".SAPUSER;
    -- CREATE TABLE "OPS$<SID>ADM".SAPUSER  (USERID VARCHAR2(256), PASSWD VARCHAR2(256));
    --INSERT INTO "OPS$<sid>ADM".SAPUSER VALUES ('<sapowner>', '<password>');
    f.
    Execute R3trans -d under <sid>adm OS level user and verify its return code. Also check trans.log file
    5.
    what is the middle step between db recovery and starting the system.
    middle steps can be
    a.  to OPEN Database with RESETLOGS or NORESETLOGS option and restart the DB instance.
    b. create OPS$ Database user according to new SID and new <SID>ADM OS user
    I hope the above information will be helpful to provide you possible understanding.

  • Source System Problem after system refresh in RSA1 trx

    Hi,
    We have R/3 4.7 Test source system created in our SCM 2007 Test System. The source system check was OK.
    The R3 Test system was refreshed with Production data few days back and now my source system is not working. When i perform Source System check it says:
    BI unknown in source system
    BI IDoc type ZSSB006 is not the same as source system IDoc type
    I performed following steps in R3 Test system after its system refresh:
    1. Created logcal system and created RFC.
    2. Created port in trx we21.
    3. Created partner profile in trx we20.
    4. For the outbound parameter RSSEND, I had to create idoc type that should be same as in my SCM system i.e. ZSSB006.
    5. Created idoc type using trx we30 as a copy of RSSEND and added entry in table EDIMSG. Now, i could also create outbound parameter RSSEND with idoc type ZSSB006.
    After performing the above steps i also replicated the datasources for the R3 Test source system, but its still showing above error.
    I also checked the RSBASIDOC table in SCM test system. It has correct entry for my source system. But there is no such entry in RSBASIDOC table in the R3 test system.
    Someone pls help me.

  • Schema Refresh activity

    Hi Gurus,
    I am doing a schema refresh activity from Production db to Test db.
    In PRODUCTION, I have a schema called LMS which has default tablespace as LMS and temporary TEMP.
    In TEST schema is LMSTEST and it;s default tablespace and temporary tablespace is LMSTEST and TEMP respectively.
    But;there is also a tablespace called LMS in TEST database.
    I have dropped the user from TEST
    created a user with same name
    given default and temporary tablespace as LMSTEST and TEMP
    given default roles to that users
    given system privileges as well...
    My poblem is while importing,my data is getting inserted into LMS where as it should go in LMSTEST as i made it default tablespace. Why it has happpened?????
    I have also made quota zero on LMS in TEST database ,but still the data is getting inserted into LMS in tablespace and not in LMSTEST tablespace.....

    In export/import utility the data to the target database goes to the same tablespace while doing import as it was in the source database tablespace.In your case LMS tablespace.so follow the below steps.
    1.Either assign LMS as default tablespace to LMSTEST user.
    or
    2.After the import is over move all tables to the LMSTEST tablespace and rebuild the index on LMSTEST tablespace.
    or
    3.Take export using datapump and while import use remap_tablespace option.
