System refresh backup

Hi All,
I am doing System Refresh, could you please suggest me how can I take the backup of printers, RFCu2019s and Logical systems
Previously I used to note RFCu2019s but in this Landscape we have many RFC, printers and logical systems are different  from production
Could please suggest me how can I take the backup

Hi,
You can Transport all spool Devices from Tx-code SPAD but need to re-configure at the target level.
1. Go to SPAD --> Select Configuration --> Output Devices
2. In the list of Out put Devices screen select "Edit" --> Transport --> Transport all
It will display a pop-up window "Device definitions must be processed later in the target system". you can proceed but below procedure has to performed in the target system.
Procedure
In the target system, you must adapt the spool servers for each device transported. This is because the system name is used in the instance names and it differs in the target system from the name of the current system. Logical instance names are an exception; they are defined identically in both systems.
When selecting the new spool servers, ensure the host spool device names configured on the respective host are valid (access method L).
If you are using destination hosts (access method U or S), you must ensure that they can be accessed by the new host. Otherwise the configured device cannot be activated. If the host name of the destination host is defined differently here, you must also adapt the entry in the device definition.
Note: To assign a new spool server, choose menu options "Utilities" -> "For output devices" -> "Assign server".
I am not sure about the other two if found any, i will definetly share.

  • False backup / archive alerts after system refresh

We have implemented CCMS on our systems. We recently refreshed our QTS system with a backup of production (PTD). CCMS is now sending alerts for backups and archives. It tells us that the backup and archive did never run.
I checked DB12 and found that there is no data in DB12. This is probably due to the system refresh.
Is there any extra post refresh step that we can do to prevent these false alerts (other than running a full online backup as post refresh step)? Is it possible to export the backup information (tables used by DB12) as pre refresh step and re-import them after the refresh?

    Kevin DK wrote:
Will it create issues if we do not delete tables SDBAH and SDBAD during the refresh?
No. BTW, tables are not to be deleted, just the table 'entries'.
    Thanks

  • Backup of background jobs after system refresh

    Hi All,
I want to know that during the system refresh how can we take the backup of the background jobs which are in "Released" state so that we can schedule them the same way after the refresh is done. Presently we are taking the screen shot of "start condition" and "step" of each and every job and then using those screenshots we are scheduling them again after the refresh is completed. It would be really helpful and time saving for us if we come to know the tables where this information is stored and also if there is any other easier way for this.
    Regards,
    Lovneesh

    Hello,
Check the below thread. It mentions all the tables that contain batch job information.
    https://scn.sap.com/thread/1709175
    " Check below mentioned tables
    BTCCTL,
    BTCDELAY
    BTCEVTJOB
    BTCH1000
    BTCH1010
    TBTCO
    TBTCP
These have all the information you need regarding background jobs, you may export these tables at the source and import them "
    Check and provide feedback.

  • System Image Backup fails in Surface Pro Win 8.1 with an error

I'm trying to create a system image backup by using "System Image Backup" tool that comes with Windows 8.1 without any success.
For this I went to "File History" tool and under this at the bottom-left hand side there is a link "System Image Backup". Then selected the drive and just clicked Next and Ok on the prompts.
I get the below error message around the last stage of the backup since the progress bar will be just around the finish line when
the below error pops up saying that the backup wasn't successful:
ERROR: "There was a failure while compacting the virtual had disk on the backup location. (0x80780151) Additional Information: Incorrect

I'm using Verbatim 500GB portable hard drive. I have formatted it in NTFS file system as required by the backup tool. It has nothing
in it so it has enough space.

  • System Refresh: Abap+Java stack

Have a few questions about CRM refresh I'm working on. Done many refreshes over the years and the new process has me shaking my head in disbelief.
Performed a normal system refresh, by restoring online backup of production system onto mirror system. The mirror system exactly matches my production sytem (Oracle 10g, SuSE Linux 64 bit, UNICODE).
Now my system is running from Abap stack perspective, however Java components fail to load.
Now from reading the documentation (System Copy for SAP, Based on SAP Netweaver 2004s Abap+Java) it appears that I have to use sapinst and no longer use online database backups for system refreshes.
Is this the case? Has the investment my organization made into online backups now worthless?
Is there a way to take the java schema in this online copied database and bring it online after converting it to work on the mirror landscape?
Or should I throw out our system methodology and start new

    Thank you for the reply.
Reading SAP's documentation seems to imply that I need to extract out the java schema from my production source and then re-install on my QA target to make a refresh of the java stack possible.
However, if I have a complete copy of my source system database working on the target, why is the extract necessary?
At least, I should be able to extract out the contents from the source as if it was the target, thereby eliminating any sort of production outages (we have many constraints about shutting down production from fuctional perspective).
I'll do some research around the other tools mentioned to see if they can lend a hand fixing the issue,

  • System Refresh On Windows Server 2003 ( Oracle )

    Hello Gurus,
We are having ecc5.0 production server on windows 2003 server ( oracle as an database ).
We want to perform system copy.
can somebody guide me the procedure on windows server.
    Server Information
    ECC - 5.0
    Window Server - 2003
    Oracle ( 9.2.0.8.0)
I have one doubt should we use SAPinst for export/import procedure or backup restore from our production server to dev server
    regards
    Shishir

    Hi Shishir,
I have one doubt should we use SAPinst for export/import procedure or backup restore from our production server to dev server
DEV System is your original System never refresh DEV System with Production. It is recommended to do System refresh on QA system or any other stand alone system (Test System).
    Also see the below points.
    1. If you have large database then use the backup restore process. this will help you to reduce your downtime.
    2. You can go for the export/import process i.e R3load using SAPinst.
For more information see the system copy guide as suggested earlier.
    Thanks,

    Hi Everyone,

    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Kind Regards,

    Hi Satya,
Thank you for the reply. QA in our landsacpe was in use since 2008. Serveral times system refresh is carried out on our QA with production data but never came accross this issue.
Usually if the SAPINST.exe run is successfull, temperory licence will be installed and we will be allowed to login into the sytem with our user names normally and carry out post installation steps.
As the SAPISNT.exe is being terminated, temperory license is not being installed and we got to work around by including parameter to allow default sap* userid and password to login and install license and carry on with the post installation steps. To be frank this issue is not really a show stopper, but there seems to be an issue that is to be resolved.
    Thank you,
    Kind Regards,
    Bharani.

  • System Refresh Precautions?

    Hi,
During system refresh, are all types of data - master data, transaction data as well as <b>customising data</b> get refreshed from prouduction environment?
Could you please suggest what is best way to get back project specific new customising data on a refreshed environment? Is there some sap recommended best practice on this.

  • Portal down after system refresh

I know a solution of reinstalling the portal with sapinst but i do not belive that this is the only solution.

So i have open both files services / hosts.. and everything seems to be ok. On services i found
    sapgw11       3311/tcp      # SAP System Gateway Port
The servers are AIX and the DB si Oracle. Nobody changed these files for more than 2 years and before refresh oh QAS the portal worked just fine. Practically the problem is that there is no connection between BI TST and TST portal. Nothing even at unix level. I think the problem is soewhere between DB and portal.. because he can`t find any connection.

  • Lost Transport Import History after the system refresh

    Hi,
We forgot to take the backup of the TPALOG table before the system refresh. We refreshed our testing system from production system. Right now we donu2019t have the old import history for the testing system. We played with TPALOG table and TPALOGHDR to synchronize TPALOG table with ALOG*  files. But we are not able to do that. I remember we had synchronized the TPALOG table with ALOG* files in the past. Please advise for any function/program to achieve this. Thanks.
    Thanks.
    Raj.

    Hello Raj,
The mechanism behind the import history is that STMS will look in table TPALOGHDR to check if the time frame for which the import history is called, is between STARTTIME and ENDTIME.
If it is, it will use the entries in table TPALOG.
If not, it will read the ALOGxxxx files on /usr/sap/trans/log and update table TPALOG.
Modifying the ENDTIME in TPALOGHDR will force reading the ALOG files again and will update the internal table TPALOG. In most cases, using the first date you find in the ALOG file that covers the missing transport.
To reduce the possibility of competing accesses to the action log you can select a system-specific name. For this purpose, set the tp parameter ALLLOG in the STMS transport tool as global and with value:
    ALLLOG = ALOG$(syear)$(yweek).$(system)
This will create system dependant ALOG files like, ALOG0318.D01
It should be noted that : The import history in TMS is only available for periods after the last copy of a system. The reason for this is, that TMS needs some information about the ALOG files which are stored
in the database. During a database copy, this information is destroyed and there is no possibility to restore this data.

  • ECC System Refresh  - impacts IDOC connections to PI

    All,
Whenever we refresh ECC QA system with prod, we have to do all the ale/IDOC settings all over again in ECC QA to connect to QA PI.
Can you please list the tables that are used for We20, We21, BD64, SM59 so that BASIS can take a backup of these tables before refresh and apply the backup once the system refresh is complete.
    Thanks.

    Hi Vicky,
Partner profile (WE20) is store in below tables
    EDPP1: General partner profile
EDP12: Partner profile outbound, additional data NAST
    EDP13: Partner profile outbound
    EDP21: Partner profile inbound
    regards,
    Harish

  • System Refresh with HANA & HANA live (side-car) data

In a scenario where HANA live co-exists with HANA DB (aka side-car approach), trying to understand the impact of system refreshes to HANA Live content. Is there a method to choose only HANA DB specific data for the refresh i.e. excluding HANA Live data?  If we use the backup/restore method to refresh QA from PROD  it will bring Prod data over for HANA Live too.  Is there a way to export QA HANA Live data prior to the refresh and re-import it post DB refresh?

Sorry I thought it was clear, let me explain.
HANA with SLT, is a replica copy of ECC tables. If you copy HANA Prod back to QA then SLT will no longer be operational.
You could re-enable SLT but you would have to re-initiate replication which would wipe out all the HANA tables, thereby making your system copy worthless.
If you don't re-enable SLT then you won't be able to do any testing or any table changes into QA.
So really there is no choice, you need to copy ERP Prod and HANA Prod, or just copy ERP Prod and re-initiate replication.

  • Differene between system copy and system refresh

    Hi all
can you please tell me the difference among SYSTEM COPY,SYSTEM REFRESH and DB REFRESH

I would consider them all the same. Maybe a "refresh" could be stated as "I restore a backup onto an already installed system" where as system copy means "I install a new system with a backup of another one" but mainly they all mean the same.

  • Reg System refresh

    Dear Friends,
I have planning to Change my PRD server. We bought new one server. Now i have plan to will do the system refresh. What are the steps are there in SAP system Refresh.
    1. What can i do?
    2. How many days will take?
    SAP Version - ECC 6.0
DB   - MS -SQL Server 2005
    OS - Windows 2003 Server
    Physical memory is - 8GB, Swap is - 24GB
DB Size is -  210 GB
    Regards
    keshav

    Hi,
To be on the safer Side Just install the New system as you installed the Old PRD keeping in mind that the OSlevel  the patch level and the Sap release should be same .
Once the installation Completes.you should go with the System Refresh.
Now here are the answer of your Question.
To install New PRD system it shall take 24 hour (appox).Once the base installation is completed you can go with the system Refresh.
Offline Backup will take 2 to 3 hours.(Number of hours depends on many more things).
If you have ABAP+JAVA then you beed to take the Java Export After the Backup.(1 hour)
Then you need to get the backup restored on the New Server(2 to 3 hours)
Then run Sapinst Import.(10 to 11 hours).
Post Refresh steps depends on the landscape configuration you have.
    Thanks Rishi Abrol

  • ECC 6 system refresh

    Hi all
I am trying to do the system refresh of ECC 6 for the first time. The database part is done and database is up and running but the CI dies after sometime stating that the J2EE status info unavilable.
When I dig deep in it it feels like something is wrong with the SAPUSER table in the database thats having the sapecc user and the password for it. I did the R3TRANS -X and it created the log file that tells me that its not able to connect to the database.
Can anyone tell me the correct way to do the system refresh or how can I rectify this issue now.
    Thanks in advance.

I am trying to do the system refresh since the last 5 days and I am not able to do it.  Here is what I did last night:
    1) I restored the backup of the target server and make sure that everything is working the way its supposed to work before the refresh.
    2) I exported SAPUSER table and other users who are database owners.
    3) I refreshed the database of the target server with source server.
    4) Bring up the Oracle database.
    5) Imported the users and tables.
    6) Now I dont see problem with the SAPUSER table but still I am not able to start the CI. When I execute the R3trans -X following is the log file generated. I am running ECC 6 with Oracle 10 G with ABAP and Java.
    Thanks for all your help.
