Hi All,
We have to perform dual stack BW system refresh from production system to quality system and both are hosted on different hosts. For abap only systems generally we take online backup of production system and restor it to target and follow standard system refresh procedure.
We have followed same strategy for dual stack systems and perform same stpes as followed in abap only systems but afterwards java was not up and running.
So we planned to take export of database(ABAP+JAVA) and import it on target server. But since we cannot afford downtime for our BW production system so during export we unmark the option "STop Running System" so as to avoid downtime but our query is that since we are not stopping dual stack BW system then how the database will be in consistent state after import of database.
Also please suggest if there is any alternate best proceduere that ensures dual stack BW system refresh by ensuirng no downtime of production system.

We are trying to follow the same procedure,i have doene everything from scrap as per your recommendation but while importing and at step of entering export dump location i.e. Migration Depot screen on entering export dump location it is throwing error:
You entered: /oracle/BWT/sapdata19/export_dualstack/JAVA Found the label SAP:JMIG:700::: but need the label SAP:MIG::EXPORT(1/::*
Also please note that during export, a directory pack gets created in SDM home of source system and we have not transfer any of its file to export dump:

I want to make a system refresh. Can any one send me the procedure for doing it.
Thnks in advance

Delete TMS configuration from all affected systems and recreate it.

Hello,
I am new to CUA and need help in determining the pre and Post steps for CUA during the System Refresh. The System Refresh is performed on the Child System and after the Refresh my original users and Role assignments have to overwrite the users and Role Assignments of the Copying System. How do I retain my original User data ?
Are their any guidelines to this process ?
I am researching oss and forums, and so far I don't have any clear procedure.
thanks,
FarahHello Farah,
I think by system refresh you mean system copy.
From system copy perspective follwing steps need to be taken:
pre copy steps:
1. Disconnect CUA. Please go to the child system. Go to TRANSACTION BD64 and delete the ALE model view for CUA.
Subsequently go to parent system. Then to transaction SCUA. In menu bar go to Distribution model and then to Delete. Choose the radiobutton Child System and then give the logical name of the child system.
Post system copy activties:
1. in case the system copy has been performed from parent system of CUA to child system then go to child system and then goto BD64. Delete the exisitng ALE model for CUA. If parent system is not the source system of CUA you can ignore this step. Next Login to parent system. Go to SCUA then change mode and then add the logical system name of child system to it.Next go to SCUG and do user master reconcilliation.for this double click on child system and then under do transfer users wherver it is available.
Frankly these are ideal steps after system copy ahich I follow since there is not much disparity in user master data across systems in my CUA. So even if system copy happens the user master data in child system remains more or less the same.
If at all there is a minor difference I adjust it through SU01 or SU10. However in case there is a major difference then you it becomes a bit complicated. reasons being system copy wil overwrite entire stuff. Whether it is CUA or any other data. Say for example a child role exisits in child system but is not in the source system of system copy then it wont be present after system copy. if there are such issues then let us know. May be we can think
something. otherwise this approach should do the job for you.
Please award points if you found the anwers useful.

System Refresh On Windows Server 2003 ( Oracle )
Hello Gurus,
We are having ecc5.0 production server on windows 2003 server ( oracle as an database ).
We want to perform system copy.
can somebody guide me the procedure on windows server.
Server Information
ECC - 5.0
Window Server - 2003
Oracle ( 9.2.0.8.0)
I have one doubt should we use SAPinst for export/import procedure or backup restore from our production server to dev server
regards
ShishirHi Shishir,
I have one doubt should we use SAPinst for export/import procedure or backup restore from our production server to dev server
DEV System is your original System never refresh DEV System with Production. It is recommended to do System refresh on QA system or any other stand alone system (Test System).
Also see the below points.
1. If you have large database then use the backup restore process. this will help you to reduce your downtime.
2. You can go for the export/import process i.e R3load using SAPinst.
For more information see the system copy guide as suggested earlier.
Thanks,

Hi All,
I am doing System Refresh, could you please suggest me how can I take the backup of printers, RFCu2019s and Logical systems
Previously I used to note RFCu2019s but in this Landscape we have many RFC, printers and logical systems are different from production
Could please suggest me how can I take the backupHi,
You can Transport all spool Devices from Tx-code SPAD but need to re-configure at the target level.
1. Go to SPAD --> Select Configuration --> Output Devices
2. In the list of Out put Devices screen select "Edit" --> Transport --> Transport all
It will display a pop-up window "Device definitions must be processed later in the target system". you can proceed but below procedure has to performed in the target system.
Procedure
In the target system, you must adapt the spool servers for each device transported. This is because the system name is used in the instance names and it differs in the target system from the name of the current system. Logical instance names are an exception; they are defined identically in both systems.
When selecting the new spool servers, ensure the host spool device names configured on the respective host are valid (access method L).
If you are using destination hosts (access method U or S), you must ensure that they can be accessed by the new host. Otherwise the configured device cannot be activated. If the host name of the destination host is defined differently here, you must also adapt the entry in the device definition.
Note: To assign a new spool server, choose menu options "Utilities" -> "For output devices" -> "Assign server".
I am not sure about the other two if found any, i will definetly share.

System Refresh SAPINST.exe error ExeProcs was executed with status Error
Hi Everyone,
As part of system refresh, our QA ECC is restored with Production Data backup. In this process, sapinst.exe is executed to perform homogeneous system copy steps. This process is being terminated with error at the step *"Create SAP stored procedures"*.
The error being displayed is as follows:
An error occurred while processing option SAP Toools for MS SQL Server > Database Copy Completion( Last error reported by the step: Errors when executing sql command: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The specified @job_name ('SAP CCMS_qpe_QPE_Update_Tabstats') does not exist.
SOLUTION: If this message is displayed as a warning, you can ignore it. If this is an error, contact SAP support.

Kind Regards,
Bharani.Hi Satya,
Thank you for the reply. QA in our landsacpe was in use since 2008. Serveral times system refresh is carried out on our QA with production data but never came accross this issue.
Usually if the SAPINST.exe run is successfull, temperory licence will be installed and we will be allowed to login into the sytem with our user names normally and carry out post installation steps.
As the SAPISNT.exe is being terminated, temperory license is not being installed and we got to work around by including parameter to allow default sap* userid and password to login and install license and carry on with the post installation steps. To be frank this issue is not really a show stopper, but there seems to be an issue that is to be resolved.
Thank you,

System Refresh Precautions?
Hi,
During system refresh, are all types of data - master data, transaction data as well as <b>customising data</b> get refreshed from prouduction environment?
Could you please suggest what is best way to get back project specific new customising data on a refreshed environment? Is there some sap recommended best practice on this.
regards,
KarthikHi Please go through. This will give you exhaustive information. After refresh we used this to get back the required system specific customizations.

 Download RFC tables - To be done
Tables rfcattrib, rfcdes and rfcdoc have been exported using sapdba on QA1 and the corresponding files are kept in a new temporary directory: /oracle/QA1/rfc_dest. After the system copy, these files have to be moved from /oracle/QA1/rfc_dest to /oracle/QA1/sapreorg and then the tables can be imported into QA1, to revert back to the RFC destination information as it is now.
Steps : 1)login with oraqa1
2) type sapdba
3) select e - Export/import
Perform this step two days before the scheduled refresh.
Team Involved: SAPDBA
 Backup user master records in QA1 - To be done
Procedure : login to QA1 400.
Execute Transaction code: SCC8 (CLIENT EXPORT)
Selected profile: SAP_USER
Target system: QA1/DV1(safety backup)
Perform this step two days before the scheduled refresh.

System Refresh of GRC 5.3 system
Hi Gurus,
Our client has putforth a requirement of refreshing the GRC 5.3 development system in our landscape with the data of GRC 5.3 production system. I could find document for Homogeneous System Copy for standalone Java engines in Service Marketplace. But, i was not able to find any document specific to GRC 5.3 system refresh.
Please guide me in providing help in the system copy procedure so that i can take the necessary precautions in doing the system refresh.
Regards,
RagavHi,
I am not sure on the reasons for system refresh. Look at the below points:
1. The RAR data c(Rules, Functions, Risks etc) an be downloaded and uploaded in the Development environment. Why you need the production user data in Development?
2. The SPM users are intended for production. Why you are planning to copy/simulate them in development?
3. The ERM and CUPs are workflows, where the systems and other settings have to be created manually. What is your intention in getting them to development?
As per my knowledge, no system refresh is performed for GRC systems? May be you need to educate the client on these things. Please look for the ideas from the other experts too before you go back to your client.
Hope this helps!!

System refresh of abap+java
Hi gurus,
I am trying to do the system refresh for ecc6.0 abap + java .I did the abap part with the oracle specific method where we restore the data files and run the control.sql command . But for the java part i am confused on what option i had tried to select abapJava and do an export and then when i am importing it with the abapJava option it is also doing the restoration of abap stack . If i select only java it is trying to create a instance JC00 which i dont want , Is there a method where i can only export the java stack and import into the abap system that was refreshed using the oracle restore method ?
Thanks in advancetry following this:
JAVA Refresh Procedure On SRC system
1) Execute the following command after navigating to the SAPinst directory to the JAVA export using SAPinst.
a. sapinst.exe product_cp.catalog
The export procedure is as follows
1) Specify the SID name and export directory
2) To take the export without stopping the JAVA process, uncheck the check box
On TRG System Preparations
1) Copy the export from the SRC export directory to the TRG system
2) The JAVA versions should be same on SRC and TRG
Import procedure is as follows
Execute the following command on the TRG system after navigating to the SAPinst in the Master DVD
sapinst.exe product_cp.catalog
Check for the TRG system SID for example TAJ
Note:
1) Ensure that the SAP system is up and running.
2) Ensure that temporary tablespace u201CPSAPTEMPu201D is not empty
After completing the import successfully, restart the SAP system.

CUA
====
CUA behaves differently during a system/client copy and this is the approach we took and it was successful. The goal is to take a backup of the source before CUA deletion then restore. Do not delete CUA and just attempt to rebuild it, all the roles will be gone. Backup and restore will be the approach I recommend.
a1. Take a snap shot of your QA user and role assignments before copy.
1. (Basis) First make a backup of the source system. This is important before step 2.
2. After successful backup delete the CUA from the source system.
3. After successful copy to target system, restore backup to source system.
4. Depending how the copy was done, users and passwords should be in the target system but all the role assignments will be gone.
5. Start assigning roles base on your requirements. If you need to restore the old QA settings that is captured in a1.
Perhaps others can add in other steps I might have missed.
Good Luck! -
Hi All,
After the SRM quality system refreshed with production ,what are all the settings we have to check and maintain so that we have connectivity with the backend system.
What are the RFC settings to be maintained and procedure to maintain?
Thank you
Regards,
YshuHi. First set up the RFC destinations as you would normally, then run BDLS to change the logical system from the production one to your qualtity one.
Then, run program RHOMATTRIBUTES_REPLACE to change the attributes that contain logical system, you can use the sub-string checkbox to just change the first part of the attributes.
Finally check your middleware setting, you will probably need to delete the current site and create a new one pointing at the QA system.

Transports Issue after system Refresh
Hi All,
Recently we performed a system refresh from our Production to Development system. It is SAP ERP 6.0 ehp5 system. The refresh was successful however we are seeing issues related to STMS.
1. In our development system we are unable to use SCC1 to move transport from one client to another. The following is the dump.
Category ABAP Programming Error
Runtime Errors UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
Except. CX_SDB_ORA_PROGRAM_ERROR
ABAP Program CL_SDB_ORA_UPDATE_STATS=======CP
Application Component BC-DB-ORA-CCM
The occurrence of the exception is closely related to the occurrence of
a previous exception "CX_SQL_EXCEPTION", which was raised in the program
"CL_SQL_STATEMENT==============CP",
specifically in line 24 of the (include) program
"CL_SQL_STATEMENT==============CM008".
The cause of the exception was:
ORA-20003: Specified bug number (16470836) does not exist#ORA-06512: at
"SYS.DBMS_STATS", line 23922#ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_STATS", line
23973#ORA-06512: at line 1
2. We are not able to see the sub request record for the transports is missing in E070 table for the TRs which were created before refresh.
Please provide your inputs and help us to resolve these issues.
Thanks!Hi
Why do you mean by "system refresh from our Production to Development system"
DB copy or client copy ?
Based on the problem you have it must have been a DB copy.
As you might know this is not recommended by SAP, you should at least have exported the object versions as stated in the here under note.
I hope your TMS domain controller was the production system...
It is normal that you did loose data in the CTS tables as you overwrite all CTS tables with the data from production, thus orders created in DEV that were not released should have been erased.
I'm afraid your problem could be tougher than a simple Oracle error...
For the Oracle error could you try launching system statistic and see if you get the same error
brconnect -u / -c -f stats -t system_stats
Why did you perform that refresh, client copy could have been a safer alternative.
Regards
130906 - How can versions be transported?
You want to copy the versions of the repository objects from one R/3 system into another, for example because you are planning to copy your production system to your development system.
Such a procedure does not correspond to the strategy recommended by SAP, to always retain the development system. -
After System Refresh Variants missing
Hi,
We have used Export / Import method to build QAS system from production
ABAP export file.
After System refresh we got the same Production client with all
configurations, Variants, Object including data.. Which is Perfect.
But, as per our business we don't want to use the same production
client number in Quality System., so we done Cliet Copy to copy to
different client (ex: Client 200) using SAP_ALL profile.
Question: But after client copy we found that some Data, Objects,
Variants are missing in the new client (200).
Ex: In Client 100 (Copy of production client) table T009 is having 10
entries, but after client copy in client 200 the same table doesn't have any
entry in that including standard and Z.
Please help me on this, how do I get clone / copy of 100 client
(original client)
Thank You,
RameshHi Ramesh,
Looks like your client copy didn't bring all the data and Objects, Did you checked logs, Is there any error message ? The client copy completed with all the tables ?
You can try Remote client copy method .
You can manually export the variants from the source client to Target client and you need to export the Variants from the table VARID, VARI, VARIT and VARIS.
You can use the below forum procedure to export and import variants.
how to export RFC destination to file in order to import it in an other sys
Since, not only the variants you are missing data and Objects, I would suggest for re-copy the client.

Arjun
