To activate the iPhone from iTunes using your Mac, you will need an active internet connection. As long as it does not have an internet connection, you will not be able to activate the phone.

  • Scanning photos and Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 system requirements

    Hello all-
A long, involved question here, so bear with me.
I have a Power Mac G4, still working fine even though it's almost 8 years old.
I want to scan a number of photos for use in a Final Cut Pro 5 project. (I have an Epson Workforce 610 all-in-one scanner). If I understand correctly, the scanner will scan in square pixels, which is no good for video, so I will need to re-save the images in non-square pixels (or rectangular pixels with an 0.9 PAR?). I will also probably want to touch up/re-size a number of the image stills.
It seems to me that I could do this in Adobe Photoshop Elements, only my G4 doesn't have the necessary system requirements. Elements 9 needs a higher operating system, which I can't get because my G4 doesn't have an Intel processor. A side issue is that I also don't have a very large hard drive since the computer is so old (75 GB, about 15 GB free). But I plan to alter the images and then save them to an external drive which has plenty of space.
What to do? I have I-photo '09, but that doesn't seem to have the same functionality as Photoshop Elements 9. Should I try to get an old version of Elements on ebay? Do past versions of Elements have the option of converting from square to non-square pixels? Will past versions of Elements even work on my G4? (I read something which suggested that really old versions, like Elements 2, might not).
Any other options? (Short of buying a new computer, which I don't really want to do).
    Thoughts? Advice?
Thanks in advance for any and all help. I'm going to post this in a couple of different forums since I'm not exactly sure where the right place to ask this question is.

    Hi there,
I've read it can be done in FCP, perhaps an older version of that.
    What speed is your G4?
Have you tried it in iMovie 06 HD?
I wonder if GraphicConverter can do it...

  • Dreamweaver CS4 system requirements?

I'm a new owner of Dreamweaver CS4 who would like to install the program on my laptop. But in looking at the minimum system requirements, it says it needs "1,280x800 display with 16-bit video card." I've got the 16-bit card but maximum display resolution is just 1024 x 768. If I install it on this machine, will I just be doing a lot of scrolling? Or is my laptop literally unable to run the program because of its display resolution?
    Thanks for your help.

I haven't tried CS4 on a machine with 1024 x 768 resolution, but CS3 had the same minimum requirement, and it worked just fine. The main problem with a small resolution monitor is that the panels on the right overlap the Property inspector. However, with CS4, it shouldn't be a problem if you switch the panels to iconic mode.
As Mylenium says, you can always try it and deactivate the program on your laptop if it's not successful.

In order to set up and install the new AirPort Extreme:
    Setup and Administration
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later and AirPort Utility 1.3
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and AirPort Utility 6.3
would it work with my older osx 10.6.8?
Yes, if you set up the new AirPort Extreme using the guidelines above. The 10.6.8 Mac will be able to connect to the AirPort Extreme, but it will not be able to make any configuration changes.
Only the devices listed above can be used to set up and make any changes to the new AirPort.

  • What system requirement do i need to get os x lion?

what system requirement do i need to get os x lion? i got mac os x 10.4.11 right now

Well the primary reason is because it's what Apple recommends. When users vary from the manufacturers solutions is when they have problems. Apple makes it very clear what the system requirments are when they publish:
    General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you haven't done so already you need to migrate your mail account to iCloud first and do so IMMEDIATELY at the website Move
    Then
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

Since all Intel i3 processors have at least 2 cores, your specs are well above the requirements; see http://ark.intel.com/products/family/75025#@All
I have some computers with far slower processors, and Flash Player 14 works perfectly well on them too.

I hate this bold 9700 series 2 no carrier and find it to be a pathetic product backed up by even more pathetic support so I have decided to use it as a torch. There is an app for this but it requires app world first. Are you trying to say that I MUST have a carrier and they will resolve this issue but otherwise RIM cannot do anything about their own product?
Hello and Welcome to the Forums!
We are so sorry that you are having so many difficulties. While many experience the same (a search here will reveal that fact), there are also many who have very positive experiences with their BB. Not every device is suitable for everyone -- which IMHO is why there are so many choices.
In addition, but for AppWorld, front line support for BB's is, by contract, not provided by RIM. The carriers and authorized resellers are responsible for front line formal support to end users. It is possible to bypass your carrier and seek assistance direct from RIM, but such involves fees since you are bypassing your support agreement with your carrier. The "Support and Services" tab toward the top of these forum pages provide information about that. But, if you do go through your carrier for support, they can escalate into RIM at no fee to you if they so choose to.
As to AppWorld Support (beyond what we volunteer to provide in these forums), that is available via this portal:
    https://www.blackberry.com/CSOHelp/index.do?ft=generic
If you choose to submit to them in this manner, then please use, in the "Please select a component:" field, the AppWorld Billing/Payment selection. Any other selection will simply route you back anonymously to these public forums.
As to your question, RIM and the carriers both participate in AppWorld. My suspicion is that the carriers get a portion of the costs for the apps that are vended via AppWorld -- but that's just my suspicion. Hence, the use of AppWorld indeed requires a carrier (and, indeed, the proper data plan level from them).
But, AppWorld is merely a portal, vending apps that are (for the most part) developed by others. As such, it is not the only portal in the world for BB apps. There are a few, I think, apps that are exclusively vended via AppWorld...but I think that number is rather small. Consequently, if you desire an app that will allow your BB to function as you desire, you should seek out alternative vending portals. There are plenty.
    Good luck!

  • Error "Sorry your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones"

I have a Curve 8300.  With OS v4.5.0.81.  And I am on a BB Social network plan through my cell providor "Fido".
I mainly use it for Facebook & Twitter  and have no problems using either app.  However I was prompted for an update for my twitter recently but wasn't near a wifi spot to update.  Just decided to update today at home where I do have wifi.  However when I go to do the update, it gives me the following error:
"Sorry your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Twitter for BlackBerry Smartphones"
I have scoured for answers but haven't had much luck.  I tried checking for OS updates.  I apparently have the most current one that my phone will support.  I uninstalled twitter and then tried to reinstall it via the twitter Icon on my phone.  Got the same error.  Tried reinstalling it through app world, it installed just fine.  However it installed the version that I had previously had.  So I went to twitter's settings and checked for updates.  It prompted for one as I expected it would.  And when I tried to get the update.  It gave me that error again.  I can use twitter as it is, but I don't see why my phone shouldn't be able to get all the updates for various apps.  Is it a software compatability issue?  Is it a hardware compatability issue?  Is there anything I can do to get the update or do I just have a phone that won't take some app updates?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
The 8300 is not listed in the device upgrade table for Blackberry device OS v5.0. The newer versions of apps like Twitter and Facebook require device OS v5.0 to run correctly. Might be time to consider a new device!

  • I have just purchased microsoft office mac 2011 I installed it on my imac no problem but it will not install on my mini mac. when i put the disk in it says an intel based macintosh is needed. The box system requirements match my mini mac

I have recently purchased Microsoft office for mac. I have installed it on my imac with no problems. However it will not in stall on my mini mac. The system requirements state mac OS X version 10.5.8  which is what my mini mac is. When I insert the disk the page displays says Intel based macintosh needed  any suggestions ?

Sounds like you've got a PowerPC G4 mini?  i.e. NOT an Intel mini?  What does it say after "Processor:" in "About this Mac"?

  • Needed: system requirements, recommendations & best practices

I realize that this is just a beta release but I think it'd be nice if the system requirements for this VS.NET add-in were clearly defined in a single post/page.
For example, Christian Shay's reply to "Oracle Release Requirements" by [170516] indicates that "For the beta release you should be able to use Oracle Database version 8.1.7 or later." However, Christian's reply in the "Oracle DB 8.1.7 connection problems" thread started by [151631] indicates that "you'd need to upgrade to at least 8.1.7.4.1 for it to work."
Which is it??? I'm using Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.2.0 and I don't want to install this add-in if it's not going to work with my current environment. I realize I can download 10g but my employer is using 8.1.7.2 and that's my target DB for now.
In browsing this forum, I've read a number of posts with suggestions (such as installing the version 10 client in a new Oracle Home, etc.) and I think it'd be nice to see a basic set of requirements/recommendations/best practices in a single place for all to read.

    Hi
Can you also include the following in the FAQ?
    1) ODP.NET if installed prior to this beta version - what is the best practice ? De-install it prior to getting this installed etc ..
    2) As multiple Oracle home's have become the NORM these days - this being a Client only should probably be non-intrusive and non-invasive.. Hope that is getting addressed.
    3) Is this a pre-cursor to the future happenings like some of the App-Server evolving to support .NET natively and so on??
    4) Where is BPEL in this scheme of things? Is that getting added to this also so that Eclipse and .NET VS 2003 developers can use some common Webservice framework??
    Regards
    Sundar
