System Requirements for CS4

I am not a computer tech, so....
I read that the minimum Processor speed for CS4 is 2 Ghz, but I have a computer that is Dual core, 1.2 Ghz.
Am I OK or do I still not meet the sytem requirements?
Oh, also how important is it to have a Hard Drive with 7200 rpm? Mine is 5400 rpm.
Thanks.

The 2 Ghz is the requirement for DV (digital video) work. The same is
true for the speed of the hard drive. 1.2 Ghz will be slow, v e r y s l
o w.
More importantly is how much RAM and how much free hard disk space do
you have? Which CS 4 suite are you interested in? What do you want to do
with it?

  • System requirements for CS4 - Im 40mb away from 1GB

    Hello
My boss is getting CS4 for me and I checked this machine and it only has 960MB of RAM and the system requirements on the site says 1GB - do I go get 1GB of RAM right now before the package shows up? Can I choose not to install something that will help? Everything else checks out - 2GHz - 125GB of space, Service pack 3
    Thanks
    R

You're not actually 40MB short of RAM. You have 1GB inside your machine (= 1,024MB) but Windows can only see 960MB.
64MB is used by the integrated video card inside your machine = 1,024 - 64 = 960MB for Windows.
System requirements actually says 512MB is the minimum for DW alone.

Try installing CS4 and see how it performs. If it's slow, add RAM.
What exactly is your boss purchasing? One of the CS4 suites (which one?) or standalone Dreamweaver CS4?

  • Realistic system requirements for Design Premium on MAC

    Hi,
Can anyone give me some realistic system requirements for CS4 Design Premium? I am just about ripping my hair out with having to reboot several times a day because i'm running out of memory on my PC and am thinking about switching to MAC.
I am currently running a PC well above the recommended specs for Design Premium CS4 and it looks as though I will have to upgrade anyway. Designer friends tell me their MACs never require rebooting (but again i guess it depends on the MAC specs).
    My questions are:
    * If i buy a MAC, what would I need to buy to comfortably run Design Premium CS4 without any crashes?
    * reading some of the other discussion threads in this forum it seems some products don't work/aren't supported by MAC? Of the Design Premium products which ones would I have issues with?
    * Does anyone know what the deal is with switching the software licensing from Windows to Mac? (I heard you can only switch if you are upgrading which would mean I would have to wait until CS5 is released.)
    Advice would be appreciated!!
    Cheers,
    Karen

    Thanks Michael,
    I do use a few of the programs at once:  Bridge + Photoshop + Illustrator + Indesign (actually, have learnt cannot run all of these at once but would love to!);
Dreamweaver + Fireworks (Fireworks constantly causes me headaches where files become locked and cannot be saved - all due to shortage of memory)
Usually run virus software - full scan weekly, so am pretty sure my system is clean.
Great idea about disabling Virus software - will ensure I unplug from modem first!! I will give that a go.
    Cheers,

  • Realistic system requirements for Design Premium?????

    Hi,
Can anyone give me some realistic system requirements for CS4 Design Premium? I am just about ripping my hair out with having to reboot several times a day because i'm running out of memory!
I am current running:  32 bit XP SP3, 3GHz processor and 3.25GB RAM with a 500GB hard drive of which 379GB is free.
I can't install more memory without going to a 64 bit operating system which would mean wiping the PC and reinstalling everything.
The advertised requirements are only 2GBHz processor and 1MB RAM. (perhaps this might work if only opening one program at a time????)
Also considering buying a MAC - I've had designers tell me they never have to reboot - guess it depends on their specs too. What are the disadvantages of a MAC over a PC?
    Advice would be appreciated!!
    Cheers,
    Karen

  • System requirements for Incopy?

Hi! I'd like our writers and editors to start using Incopy so that we (the graphic design department) can utilize the Incopy/Indesign workflow. Although our computers our powerful, the writers are working on dinosaur PCs and i'm worried their computers may choke on Incopy. Already one of their computers has crashed on the trial version. Are there any recommended system requirements for the average PC to run Incopy? I couldn't find any posted on the adobe site. I'll need to make a recommendation to our bosses for either more RAM, better computers, etc.
thanks if you have any information!

Not gonna run on those dinosaur PCs. InCopy pretty much requires the same horsepower as InDesign.
BTW, keep in mind that CS5 will be shipping very soon and at that point CS4 will become rather difficult to buy. And mixing versions is not a good idea.

  • System requirements for CS2

I am running a Intell MacBook 10.6.7.  Does anyone know the system requirements for CS2?

They are listed here, but if you don't already have it, I sure wouldn't opt for that version at this point. It won't run as well on your computer as CS4 and up will.

  • What are the minimum system requirements for GB 4?

What are the minimum system requirements for GB 4? I did search this forum but wasn't able to find a direct answer.
I'm running version 3.0.4 successfully on a lowly G4 733 but I suspect this is as far as I can go.
I'm updating to iDvd'08 and was also wondering if I can safely update to GB4 or not (from GB 3.0.7) on a G4 733 mhz Digital Audio. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. My guess is that I cannot but I'd like to confirm prior to attempting any further updates in GB.

I try my best to play it safely; always. And you were right, everything worked on the ext. FW HD flawlessly ...... truly amazing software!
(I did happen to check the activity Monitor w/in Utilities and it showed GB4 using about 60-67% of the CPU on a G4 733 ..... I'm assuming this is normal).

Not sure if there's a correct order to opening these apps as there has been in former versions of iLife ..... however, this (as shown above) is the order in which I opened all apps, and all worked well.

An error message says that the OS does not meet the minimum system requirements for the installer. 10.6.0 is the minimum required for installation. How do I get my mac to be a 10.6.0 ? Right now I have a 10.5.8 is there a way to upgrade or something?

Buy the Snow Leopard retail installer (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA).
That will take you to 10.6.3.
If required you can then use the combo updater to get to the latest version, 10.6.8 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399)
