System Requirements for running Rosetta

I just got a brand new Mac Pro that is running OS X 10.5.4 on it as a work station where I work. I did have a G5. (long story short - the G4s we had were dying so they gave people who had G4s the G5s and those who had G5s Mac Pros)
Unfortunately I HAVE to use CS2 on the Mac Pro since the company isn't prepared to spring for CS3 or newer.
I was wondering how much memory is needed to run Rosetta on the Mac Pro to even get any decent performance from CS2 Standard (just InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop running at the same time)? Currently I have only 1G and I can't run Illustrator and Photoshop at the same time. Both of them will crash. As is, Illustrator crashes on average once an hour for no reason even without Photoshop running. Same goes if Photoshop is on.
Any suggestions? Should I try to get additional memory and how much would you define as the minimum needed since 1G doesn't seem to handle InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop at the same time?
Thank you so much! :)

I've watched CS2 eat over 1gb of "real" RAM while processing complex EPS files. You can probably get away with 2gb, but 4gb would definitely be better.
To be honest, I would not count on an increase in RAM to stop Rosetta apps from crashing. They just do that sometimes. I have recently managed to revert all Mac Pro users back to G5's here for added speed and stabilty in CS2 until such time as we are given the go-ahead to install CS3 (or bloody CS4 at this rate!).
