System Resets itself after about 1 to 2 hours use

Hi guys,
I had setup my system for about 2 months now.  Bios is version 1.90.
I encountered my system resetting itself without warning, sometimes after 1 to 2 hours use, sometimes, even 30 minutes use.  I am using Intel CPU stock fan and getting startup CPU temperature of 44 deg C and about 50 deg C after a few hours use.  Sometimes, the system is stopped and shows the blue screen warning.  A warm reset brings my system back up again.
Suspect:
1.  Since I have many peripherals, I am worried about my PSU whether it is able to take it.  The power calculator at http://www.adecy.com/psu/ recommended 570W.  No way to get that man!  I am willing to consider a new PSU of maximum 480W (within my budget) but if it means that I can continue to use the current PSU but with risk of shortened lifespan, I'm ok to stick to this.
2.  Maybe the Y-Connectors cables might becomes loose sometimes.  Thinking of changing the cables to better tight fitting ones (difficult to find though).
3.  Overclocking - Don't think so because if I didnot remember wrongly, even at 2.8GHz without o/c, the sudden resets did happen before.
Hope someone can give me a suggestion.  Thanks in advance.
System Configuration:1.  Mobo 875P Neo-Fis2R
2.  Intel PIV 2.8c --> 3.03GHz (FSB = 217)
3.  DOT: Capturn
4.  PAT: Fast
5.  Kingston 2.5CL ram, 2 sticks of 512MB
6.  2MB Cache 120GB hdd to ICH5R as raid 0 using HighPoint's RocketHead convertors
7.  Seagate SATA 80GB Hdd to Promise 378 raid 1
8.  WDC 800JB 80GB Hdd to Promise 378 raid 0
9.  Intel OEM modem
10.  Canopus Storm 2 PCI card
11.  Enermax Power Supply 350W,
+5 V = 32A
+12 V = 17A
+3.3V = 32A
-5 V = 1A
-12 V = 1A
-3.3V = 2.2A

When you use the calculator, you have to decide how much you want to load your system up. Eg you have 8 USB ports, how many to you actually use?
This is what I calculated (guessed at the fans):
Recommended PSU: 401W (151W on +3.3v & +5v rails) for:
-1 x Motherboard without onboard devices
-4 x Fans (including PSU fans)
-8 x Memory (128MB DDR)
-1 x Graphic Card
-1 x with powerful 3D Accelerator
-3 x HDD
-1 x Keyboard
-1 x Mouse
-CPU: Intel P4 (2.8D GHz 0.13 µm µPGA478 @ 1.525 V with HTT)
The 350W PSU does look on the light side. I don't have a good feel for the Canopus Storm 2 PCI card. Looked it up and it looks like it probably draws as much power as a top end video card. Also, the CPU power requirement goes up with overclocking.

  • Audio degrades on 2013 Mac Pro after about a half hour through USB mic

I record a podcast, and I've been noticing that my audio gets very scratchy after about a half hour. I've got a 2013 Mac Pro, and am using a SpeechWare USB TableMike. I've heard from others that this is a problem that happens with certain Macs, but have been unable to figure out why.
I previously had a late 2011 Mac mini, and never had this issue, even with the same mic.
Any thoughts? I've seen a couple of threads that were more specific to iMacs, and that, apparently, 10.9.2 fixed, but I'd like to try and figure out what's going on here.

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • My computer shuts down after about two minutes of use or at startup. What is the problem?

My computer shuts down after about two minutes of use or at startup. What is the problem?
Yesterday I used it for about ten minutes.
Yesterday was the first time using it after about 5 days.

Could you tell me how to check my system log, and how to tell if it is the disk cache? I am pretty sure it is not the GPU as I was having the problem using a Quadro 4000 as well.
    Thanks!

  • Nano resetting itself after a minute or so into the workout.

For some reason my iPod started resetting itself right after I start my workouts. I keep restarting the workout. It tracks the info for about a minute and half then completely shuts off, shows the big black screen apple, then restarts. The battery was fully charged so that's not the issue. It did this 6 or 7 times. Now today, it doesn't reset but the Last Workout, Recent Workouts and Personal Best are now blank. Is the receiver piece that's plugged into my iPod dying? The iPod seems to be ok. I'd hate to have future runs not recorded because this issues surfaces again. Anyone else had this issue?

Most likely, it's a corrupted xml file. This has happened to me several times over the past couple of years. If you have Tinkertool (or another utility that shows invisible files), you can access your iPod's Trainer folder (which holds the workout xml files, delete them, and it should fix the problem.
    Hope this helps!

  • My iPad suddenly started displaying "Searching" up in the top left corner and now the ipad reboots itself after about 2-5 minutes.

My iPad suddenly started displaying "searching" up in the top left corner of the screen and the wifi symbol is next to it and I am connected to the wifi. Prior to last weekend it used to display Verizon and everything was fine. After about 2-5 minutes the iPad suddenly reboots itself. Can anyone assist with this. Thank you

Have you tried rebooting the iPad?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • IPhone 6 reset itself after visiting web page

When browsing the Internet, an annoying pop up came up which I clicked on by accident. It was of adult nature and after about 3 seconds of that page loading, my phone turned itself off.
Should I be concerned about this?
Phone seems to be fine, I just hate the thought of some dodgy hacker retrieving my information from these annoying websites.
    Thanks

Any chance you installed a Solaris patch that required a reboot but failed to restart the machine? Some Solaris patches update both the kernel and libraries, and failing to reboot after installing such patches can result in mysterious failures.
Apart from that, I don't know what could be going wrong. If you want to try debugging the problem on your own, you could inspect the core file. Otherwise, you should probably call tech support.

  • Apple tv (2nd gen) reset itself after playing one song

Invited friends over and the apple tv failed me.
When connected to my home shared iTunes library, the apple tv will play the first song and at the end the apple tv will go to reset itself or get disconnected from the network.
Then I tried to play the music using the iTunes form the iMac but using AirPlay via the apple tv. The same problem, the apple tv will no play after the first song, and reset itself. However the iTunes in the iMac continued playing the next song.
I was lucky the I had a airport express. So I moved it to replace the apple tv and connect Otto the speakers. I Mac played non stop via the airport express with no issues.
    Any ideas what to do?

Have you unplugged AppleTV from the mains and restarted/re-tried.
I doubt the software is bug free and sometimes unplugging power gets rid of spurious glitches.
If the problem persists, there are a couple of possibilities apart from AppleTV including issues with your iTunes library/artwork or individual songs being corrupted that iTunes  itself may handle better and more gracefully than the iOS device.
Consider creating a new itunes library (hold alt when opening iTunes to create new/switch) and test with that (even under a different user account).
If it repeatedly does it send feedback to Apple here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html
Do movies/TV shows play ok? If they do it's unlikely it's a network issue of some kind.
Also check that the iMac isn't going to sleep after a few mins causing AppleTV to hang as it can't find the song.

  • Firefox 7.1 keeps frerezing after about 15 minutes of use if I click on a website the system sticks and Freezes up. The only way to resolve it is to close and then re-open Firefox

The problem occurs frequently and can effect any website. After about 15 minutes of surfing, I will click on a link and suddenly The word "Connecting" appears in the URL box and little circle (which used to be an hourglass) starts spinning.
After thatI can't connect ti any website, including ones I visited moments before, unless I close down all firefox windows and reopen a new one. It then works fine for a few minutes, before it happens again

    Type in the address bar
    about:config
    Accept the warning.
In the page that appears, in the Filter box, type
    network.http.max-connections
Change the value to 32 (which is probably set to 256 in your case).
    Close that page.
    Restart the browser.

  • It hags down after about half an hour, tried ur switchProxy disable tool but didn't work.

I installed the Firefox 5 a few days back. It looks awesome but it did not respond after around 30 minutes of use. I had to close the browser and re-open it again and the same problem occurs. It was not the case with the older version with me.

Thank-you for the interesting suggestion but I am using a Mac and I have been using FF for years. I would like to find a solution to this (fairly) recent "CPU spiral" problem with FF.

  • My itunes music stops playing when my laptop screen closes down after about 5 min. im using windows7

my itunes music stops playing when my laptop screen closes off after about 5minutes. im using windows7

    DriveReadySeekComplete errors are either:
    - IDE controler failure
    - Bad cables
    - Bad harddisk
Out of these 3, the last one sounds the most reasonable with nowadays harddrives. And yes, your system will hang when all your important processes are hanging while trying to do disk I/O.
What windows does is switching back to PIO mode and never report anything, until you hit the nice BSOD telling you to replace the floppydisk in drive C...

  • HT1620 I have been trying to download iOS 6.1 on my ipad.  It takes between 6-8 hours to download and after about 4-5 hours it send me an error message and cannot download. How can I delete this downloa? it will not let me download any apps

I have been trying to download iOS 6.1 on my ipad.  After its been downloading for about 4 hours, I receive a message that there is an error and cannot download.  How can I delete this download from my settings?  I tried downloading other apps, but it will not let me unless I download iOS 6.1

What iOS are you currently running?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • Computer "reset" itself after software update

I updated my mac a few days ago, and i went to boot it up a few minutes ago and ALL of my bookmarks, private info, keychains, system preferences, etc. had been restored to the default. I did not do this manually or even accidentally. I properly shut down my computer, and booted it up to this.
    1) What the heck happened?
    2) What can I do to fix it?

I'm having the same problem, posted about it too, have not yet got an answer. Seems like something was dodgy with the last update, can't be anything else. Apparently we're not the only ones having a lot of trouble.
Question: If you change the settings in mail, dock, etc. do they remain after a reboot, or are they back to default after rebooting? And do you get an error on running iTunes along the lines of library is damaged?

  • MacbookPro Resets itself after Restart

So I just got a brand new MBP C2D 2.16 15" 2 days ago. After adding all my favorite internet sites, my personal folder with pictures, music, etc. I restart my computer because Ichat is lagging badly and find out that my personal folder has been completely wiped off, the favorities on safari that I deleted are now back on.....
I rebooted MacOS X onto the drive again completely erasing everything and starting fresh. When I get back to the same place before with all my favorites added, my personal folder uploaded I tried installing parallels and I had to restart my computer and find out that again my folder is gone and favorites reset, along with some of the view options I set are also replaced to default settings, ichat was also reset to default...
Any help, before the 2nd time I did repair disk permissions and everything checked out ok and I had the new update both times installed

You didn't happen to rename your Home folder by any chance did you?
If you are the only user of the computer open your Users folder. You should see two folders in there. The User account folder and the Shared Folder. If you see a third folder with two of them looking like they could be your user account folder then one is probably an empty account folder and the other will have your stuff in it.
If your User folder was originally called ChrisB32 for example and you decided you didn't like that and changed it to Chris...well that's a big no no even though OS X will let you do it.
What happens is if you rename that ChrisB32 folder and then try to use a program that accesses the the User folder OS X will determine it is missing and create a new empty one called ChrisB32. Rebooting will cause OS X to boot using the newly created empty ChrisB32 folder and everything will revert to defaults. You settings will be in the Chris folder unseen by OS X.
It is just a guess as to what may be going on. Let me know if you find more than 1 candidate for what could be your User folder.

  • Movie Stopped Playing after about half an hour

    Hi everyone!
I recently burnt an iDVD movie that I had made in iMovie and then played it on my DVD player. Everything was working fine and I had skipped a couple of chapters... after watching for around half an hour the video and audio stopped playing... I also tried it on another DVD player, it did the same thing but straight away. Could it have been something wrong with the burning or is it the DVD or the DVD players? The DVD I used was a TDK DVD-R.
    Thanks

    Hi Jia,
The media refers to your brand of discs. Try a different brand of discs. Verbatim is the most commonly recommended brand, although Sony, Panasonic and TDK have good success rates too, although sometimes even the highest recommended discs fail.
Also, don't use iDVD to burn a disc. Go to the file menu in iDVD and save it as a disc image. Then you can use Toast or the disc utility to burn the disc image at a slow speed - 1x or 2x. The slower the speed, the better the burn.

  • Modem reboots/resets itself after 5-10 min movie stream

I have an Apple TV 2 and a 2Wire 2701HG-T Gateway. The problem is like this:
    1. I start to stream an HD movie (2 to 4 GBs) from my PC (Windows 7) to ATV2
    2. After 5-10 min my router/modem reboots itself and all devices lose connection to internet
    3. When my router/modem is back up (after 2-3 min) all devices regain connection to internet
    4. I start the movie where I left it and it happens again after a random amount of time. (Sometimes it doesn't happen again and I can finish watching my movie)
    Importat notes:
    * My router/modem ONLY does this when I stream large HD movies from my PC, if my ATV2 is off and I'm downloading stuff, browsing, etc. It works like a charm, this just happens ONLY when I use my ATV2.
    * I don't lose connection with iTunes (Home Sharing). My problem completly shuts down my whole network and as soon as it is back up ATV2 finds iTunes with no problem and I can resume my movie. So it's not a Home Sharing/iTunes issue.
So that's it, any ideas what the problem might be?

Our Cisco Linksys WRT610N did this too. Every few days it would crash and reboot itself while we were watching Netflix on the AppleTV. I bought an AirPort Extreme a few days ago and it hasn't happened again yet. Too soon to know for sure but my hunch is it isn't going to crash like the Linksys did.
Sorry I don't have a solution for you. I think it boils down to most consumer routers being junk.
