System Restore – Blank Hard Drive and non-working internal DVD drive
I have a blank internal hard drive and I’m trying to restore my DV6815nr with Vista back to working order. The trouble is, my internal DVD drive died a while back. I have recovery discs, but the computer doesn't acknowledge the internal drive. When the computer worked, the internal drive didn't show up in device manager, etc... I have an external USB DVD drive that works with the computer (when it was running), but it won't boot from it.
On power up, the internal DVD and USB DVD drive both spin up. I then get a "BOOT MGR is missing" message.
F9 Boot Menu shows:
4. Notebook Hard Drive
6. Network Adapter
F10 System Config in Boot Options shows:
CD ROM Boot
Floppy Boot
Internal Network Adapter Boot

I’m sorry, I forgot to mention that I did try a used replacement internal drive that wasn’t recognized either. I guess it could have been defective, but I figured it was on the computer side. I’m hoping there’s a way to get it running without the internal DVD drive?
F9 should show the usb drive if it is connected and shows the power light., try another usb port.
dv6000 seriies had all sorts of motherboard failures in large numbers, this could be the reason the drive does not show up in F9. May or may not be your problem, but the internal dvd drive disappearing from Windows is one symptom of motherboard issues.
I am not familiar with your bios but some models did have the ability to disable usb boot.

System Restore without working internal DVD drive - dv9210us
I have a set of recovery discs sent to me by HP for my dv9210us. I'm trying to use system recovery, but I'm running into some issues. My internal DVD drive stopped working some time ago. It is not a hardware issue with the drive, as I've purchased a new one with the same result (both work for roughly 10 minutes at a stretch once every few months, but that's a whole separate set of posts ). Anyway, I have an external dvd drive, but I can't get the laptop to boot from it, and I can't boot from the internal obviously.
I have tried using the "F12" option at the startup screen, as well as using recovery manager from within Windows to initiate a restore. Both of these end up the same - as the machine boots, I basically get a black and white screen asking to select the operating system to boot. The only choice is "Windows Vista (recovered)". I select this, and the machine boots up as usual. No recovery takes place at all.
Am I missing something? Is there any way to restore this machine without the internal DVD drive working? Ironically, I was kind of hoping the restore would fix my DVD drive issue . One thought on this, not sure if it's related at all, but I had recently done a windows restore point (rolled back a few days trying to correct an issue where DVD playback suddenly started displaying in "negative" colors (aaaarrrrggghhhh)). I'm not sure if that could have affected the options that are available when I do the F12 startup (since it says "recovered")? Probably not, just grasping at straws...Please help...F11 gets HP recovery from the hard drive if it has it.

F12 should get you a boot device list, does the external dvd drive (must be plugged in before power up) show up in the list? If it does highlight it and it should boot from disc 1 if it is in the drive. -
I am having a very hard time. First I finally got all of my music back into iTunes and then moved them all to my external hard drive. I set up iTunes to automatically put and get music from the external hard drive and whenever I open the drive al of the music is there. Now, I bought a new computer and went ahead and got iTunes all set up then tried to add folder to import from the external hard drive but all the music folders are empty! They show the names of the artists and the albums but there is nothing inside. Please help!!
If you've just moved the drive between systems then see Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows just in case that reveals the missing files. Apply to a single album folder first as a test. Otherwise, if you've not done too much with the drive since things went missing, an undelete tool might recover the lost media. FreeRecover looks promising... Select the drive, use the options to get file paths and check file integrity, then, presumably, you can restore anything that has been deleted that looks recoverable. Backup to another drive when you're done.

I had to do a system restore of my computer and can't resync....
I had to do a system restore of my computer and now my Ipod Library isn't being recognized by iTunes...how do I work around this without a 3rd party software?
I try to avoid 3rd party programs with Apple gear...for the obvious reasons that I don't trust anything thats not designed by Apple for Apple.
The Battery is begining to have reduced lifetime and it is obvious I shall need to replace my Ipod 160 Classic in the near future...as such I really don't want to manually reinstall 912 songs/18 movies/3 TV shows. And due to CS 'policies' I can't get my iTunes Store Purchases re-authorized for Download (about 150 USD of purchases I don't want to lose).
Any suggestions besides "drop back 5 yards and Punt."I had to wipe my computer clean and I had backed up my I tunes on an external hard drive, but I also had all my music on my Ipod. Now that I reinstalled Itunes, it can't locate all my music that I have on my ipod. Did you find a way to do this? Please help if you have a solution.

Whenever I go to iTunes with my iPod 5th generation 32 gb iPod Touch, running iOS 8.0.2, It tells me that the "Other" category is using up 14.59 gb of data. I have no clue why it says this and I have searched the internet for fixes and none worked. I have tried on a windows and a mac and noticed no change. I have tried restoring to a backup but that didn't help. I haven't had time to do a full restore but I will try if the problem persists.
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

I am replacing my existing 320 GB SATA hard drive that clicks and makes weird noises to a Solid State hard drive and want to image the drive, is this possible? I then want to replace the DVD with a secondary large drive for storage.
So I am looking for any "gotchas" that I may be unaware of.

Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Clone Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
button.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
to the Destination entry field.
5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
the Source entry field.
6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the New SSD. Source means the external Old hard drive.
Set the new Startup Disk to the SSD and restart the computer.
This process clones both your old OS X volume and the Recovery HD volume to the SSD. You can use a similar process to clone the SSD to the new hard drive you will install. -

Please correct your porfile: iPhone 4 do not have IOS 6.1.4.
The usual troubleshooting steps are, also remember to test it after every step:
1. Restart
2. Reset
3. Restore from backup
4. Restore as new.

I had to do a complete system restore on my computer and now I am having issues getting all my music back. It's telling me that my account is in use with a different user but I'm the only user on my computer. When I go to sync it, it wants to delete all my music and ringtones. What should I do? I don't want to loose all my items.
When in recovery mode you can't backup the iPod.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I downloaded Firefox mobile to my Droid. Connected to computer and followed instructions, using code provided on phone. Did not work. I tried to re-sync phone. It didn't work. I deleted Firefox on phone and reinstalled app. The connected phone to computer to re-sync. Could not get anything to work using"I have an account" tab so opened up another sync account. It didn't work. I deleted app again and tried again and used a third sync account to sync phone with computer. I got nowhere. Completely frustrated with three sync accounts and none working.
Need help to delete all accounts and start over. Can't seem to find a way to do this.

I tried this (opening in Photoshop CS5 and resaving as jpg) as you mention:
The remedy to this problem has usually been to open the image (the one that is having an identity crisis) in Photoshop or another image editor, and simply resave it. You don't need to edit it or rename it or anything--just open and resave.
Re-imported and it does work fix (I get picture1 and picture2 instead of just picture1 for all pictures).
Having said that, I looked at all the file properties I could for:
picture1.jpg (original)
picture1.jpg (resaved in CS5)
To see what changed. All are properties are identical (color depth, pixel size, etc.) except that resaved image is ~20% larger (I saved max file size jpg in CS5).
So original is ~6MB
resaved jpg is ~8MB
So the question - why can't CS5 premiere import these directly (with resaving?) and what is working with the resave that locks up the first time?
These pictures are straight from a Canon 50D, with no editing or resaving - dumped off camera to computer. I can reproduce this error 100% of the time (new project, new folder, import 2 pics) so it isn't something goofy with the way I'm importing - 100% how premiere is handling this.
Very disappointed that I now need to open/resave/rerender each of ~1100 images to simply use them. Given that these jpgs are being produced by a mainstream camera with support image format.

Changing working and non-working days
Hi
I am trying to make a permanent (default) change in working and non-working days. I am living in Israel and our non-working days are friday and saturday. I want to configure these as the non-working days so I won't need to do it manually via the change work

ChenIf you are using project server then you can do it permanent from
PWA --> Server Settings --> Enterprise Data --> Enterprise Calendar then
You can configure either your stranded calendar or create a new calendar in which you can make Sunday to Thursday as working days and Friday and Saturday as non working days.
You have to do it manually. There is no tool available which will do the same for you.
Where as if you are using Microsoft Project professional stand alone then for every plan (MPP file) you have to do it.

I have an iphone 5. Speaker works but I cannot hear through the apple earbuds. Tried multiple earbuds and none work. But they work in our other iphone 5. Has anyone been able to resolve this without pursuing a replacement ? If so what was the fix?
You're not using a supported carrier. What did you think Apple was going to tell you?
As fizzDripper suggests, contact the SIM card provider. How to make an unsupported SIM work on your phone is not Apple's problem.
