System Restore - HELP!!

I need to do a system restore, but it will not let me put in a specific date. I've been able to do this in the past with other versions.
I have an HP Pavilion p6510y PC with Windows 7 (I believe). Thanks for your help!

What exactly do you mean by "it will not let me put in a specific date"?
Best regards,
erico

  • Time Machine System Restore Help

I need help with the following problem with Time Machine.
I am attempting to restore a OS 10.5.8 system on a G5 Tower.
When I startup the G5 Tower from the startup disks, I goto the RESTORE SYSTEM FROM BACKUP utility in the Utilities menu. From there the Time Machine system restore does nothing at all.
The TIME MACHINE back up is on a USB external drive. This is a backup of the G5 Tower time machine backups - not another system.
As a testing procedurre, I take the Time Machine external USB drive, plug it into my Mac Mini 1.83 Ghz, start up the mini from the startup disks, select the RESTORE SYSTEM FROM BACKUP utility, and TIME MACHINE goes through the prompts fine checking what date you want to restore from.
Does anybody have any experience with this problem - any info helps.
    Thanks.

I have never heard of this - it does sound unsettling. I'm not sure how to fix it so that the G5 sees it, but you might try this:
-Boot your G5 while holding down T
-Hook the G5 up to the Mini with a FireWire cable
-Boot the Mini up from your Leopard DVD
-Select Restore from Backup from the menu
-Pick which backup you want restored
-When it asks you for a destination disk for the restore, choose the G5's disk

  • HT1688 information retrieval after system restore, Help.

While attempting to put a code lock on my phone, I typed in the wrong numbers too many times and eventually sent my phone into a phone disable. I have connected the phone to itunes, (as instructed) and have since gotten it back up and running. The problem now is that since it did a system restore, all of the information on the phone is now gone. Is there any way I can retrieve my photos, music, and notes that was originally on the phone prior to my hiccup? Please help, if it's verification that is needed, I can provide the box the phone came in when I purchased it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sonia F.

Restore your phone from your most recent backup.  If you have failed to recently backup your phone, then you will have no way to get back your recent data.

  • HT4718 System Restore Help

I want to sell my MacBook Pro. I lost my OS disk but just recently updated to Mountain Lion. How do I do a system restore and delete all of my information before selling?

    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)
Click on the Security Options button and select the second tick mark - writes a single pass of zeros - then click on the OK button.
Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed. This can take a considerable time dependent upon the size of your hard drive. If you do not have security concerns then omit Step 4.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Win8 System Restore Help!

I'm trying to use my win 8 restore disks to restore on a SSD (Vertex 4) on my Tosh R930.
The BIOS/UEFI is set for Secure and UEFI boot.
The retsore DVD's run and copy all data to the SSD however when the PC goes to boot it can not find what to boot and I get "insert system disk" message.
I'm assuming that I've done something wrong. The SSD works if I install Win8 on another machine. However back in my R930 I simple can not get the restore disk to install a version that will boot.
Is there a document some where of the steps for how to install win8 with UEFI??

I wanted to upgrade my HD on my R930 to a bigger SSD so I purchased a OCZ4 256G drive. I thought I'd start from a clean install of Windows 8 from the recovery disks. Thus I set the system configuration to UEFI and then rebooted and proceeded to use the recovery disks via using F12 to boot from the DVD drive. Unlike many other examples on the net there is no appearence of the DVD drive being UEFI or not so I booted from the only option there (straight DVD). Once booted I choose restore to out of the box setting. Although the reading of the 3 disks took a very ong time eventually it completed without any errors. However, when the system tries to restart it simply now comes up with "Insert System Disk". I can;t seem to find the reason why it is doing this if its actually done a UEFI install. using dispart there appears to be the right partitions and with the correct format.
Anyone else used the recovery disks to restore win8?? What do I need to do to get the SSD to boot?
To rule out the SSD I actually installed in normal ACHI mode on another PC and the OS booted.
Any help appreciated as I'm pulling my hair out.
PS. the recovery disks plan states that its a GPT partition....

  • IMac System Restore help

I was attempting to re-partition my Windows drive and somehow deleted my OSX. Any ideas on how to restore or do I need to reinstall OSx and lose everything? Many thanks for anyones help...

Welcome to the forums, wish I had better news.
Well, it might be possible to recover some of the info...
    Data Rescue II...
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
This would require another HD with plenty of space to recover to.
Most likely you'll end up just reinstalling the OSX.

  • Can't turn System Restore on

My Compaq Presario CQ61 laptop (Windows Vista Home Basic) is working OK but I have discovered it is not creating system restore points. It used to do this, and I have found using System Restore helpful in the past so I would like to turn it on again.
Under System--System Protection, it tells me that System Restore is off and provides a link to turn it on.This opens a System Properties dialog box with the System Protection pane open. The "System Restore..." button is greyed out.  Next to the list of available discs, under "Most recent restore point" it says "None". If I highlight a disk to try and turn on system restore for it, the "Create" and "Apply" buttons remain greyed out.
I have tried the windows.microsoft.com site for help but it does not explain the problem of the buttons being greyed out.
I have Administrator privileges on the laptop.
    Any ideas gratefully received.

  • Driver Problems - and unable to system restore

    Hello!
I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo 20236 (x64) laptop, which until a few days ago, was running perfectly (and very quietly!)
However, after installing the on disc software that came with a 360 wireless receiver http://www.amazon.co.uk/747400-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Microsoft/dp/B0076GYM50/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1428828583&sr=8-4&keywords=wireless+360+controller+pc
My computer encountered numerous problems (including a case of IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL, and numerous driver malfunctions) so I read the review page for the product, which is essentially a warning not to use on disc software and how to install the necessary
    drivers from Microsoft.
After reading this, I uninstalled the wireless controller software (from the programs panel), and since then, my laptop has suffered no more IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL crashes (or any crashes). However display drivers have stopped working occasionally (which
never happened before this) and the computer now runs noticeably slower and louder with 3.1 GB of the 5.9 GB memory in use at all time.
I tried to system restore to the 4th of April, but I just got a "Please wait while your Windows files and settings are being restored" screen for half a day, before performing a hard reset.
I was running full avast before this happened, and malware bytes since. I do not have a Windows CD.
Will running a working system restore help fix this? If so, can someone please help me do that?
    Many thanks.

    Agree with S.Sengupta.
From your description it seems that a system restore cannot be performed. As the issue occurs on display card driver, it is recommended to test to reinstall it - a newer driver may be available.
I searched on Lenovo website and if G500 is your laptop, you can get the driver
    here.

  • ITunes will not shutdown I have to Contrl-Alt-Delete and end itunes.exe and itunes help to get it to shut down and stay closed. I did a system restore and went back to 10.5.1 version and updated to 10.5.3 no dice Windows 7 64 bit

Itunes will not stay close ever since I updated to 10.5.3 version. I try to close program and it pops right back up! The only way to close is open tack manager and stop the itunes.exe and the itunes.help then it will stay close. I did a system restore back to the earlier version of itunes but problem presisted. I finally did the task manager again and downloaded the update to 10.5.3 and this seemed to resolve the problem for awhile but now it is back! Is anybody else experiencing this problem? and where you able to correct it? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit have never had a problem with anything till now. I ran scans of my machine no viruses.

  • Help with Photoshop Elements 10 after system restore

Hi I need some help and guidance. I have successfully installed my Photoshop Elements 10 twice now; once on my own; and following a MS Vista System Restore; with the help of Adobe support . I then worked on it for a day and all was well.
But unbeknown to me at the time, I had a MS System corruption that was causing Boot issues resulting in a forced Restore of my system and both Restores caused the Photoshop elements desk-top shortcut to disappear and a subsequent PSE10 re-install to fail with the dreaded Data7 , and "Application Shared Technologies" and rollback of Orgainizer and Editor etc etc.
I now realise that the two events were connected and the Adobe Support Person helped me get PSE10 up and running but it involved a lot of file permission changes etc, which lost me in the process, which was done remotely. PS Great customer support!!
After sorting out my MS Vista problem due to "Corrupt System" files, I now need to get my PSE10 up and running again; but how?
    Regards John

Have you tried uninstalling and installing again?
    thanks.

  • Help with iTouch sync new files after system restore

I just recently did a system restore on the iTouch, backed up my previous files & restored them to the iTouch with no problems however I am not able to sync the new apps, files, pod casts etc... that I purchased to the device after the erase & restore. But they are showing up on iTunes just not the iPod.
    Thanks for any help,

I don't have an answer to your question, maybe someone else does.
What I did want to comment on, though, is that surely it was unnecessary to
uninstall a program to speed up your computer? It would have been sufficient
to leave it on your harddrive and not run it--that doesn't take up any RAM.
It won't slow up your computer unless it has some components in the startup
    folder.
