System Settings Effect Handling

I trashed my FCP preferences
Now I cannot play video in the canvas. Each time I stop the playhead the frame shows, then when I restart the playhead, that frame stays there until I stop the playhead again.
Individual clips in the viewer are playing. Audio is ok.
Channels are set to RGB
Image+wireframe Checked
Playhead sync is "open"
When I go to my system settings>Effect Handling the "effects handled by" drop down box gives me the option of "none" or "squared 5" (a program I use). FCP is not an option
If anyone has any suggestions, I would be grateful.

I trashed the preferences again, and System Settings>Effect Handling, showed FCP in the drop down box this time.
Now the canvas is working. I am not sure why it would after the third preference trash.
I still cannot check the View>External Video> All Frames, they remain off, but it doesn't seem to matter.

I did use the "erase all data and settings" option on the iPhone 6 menu because I wanted to go through the setup myself. I hope that didn't mess anything up.

System settings Package management part crashes on open

Hello all,
Whenever I open the system settings and then go to "package management" EVERY TIME the screen shows up and inmediatly closes and I get a KDE crash handler window.
Please note I am using KDEmod repos.
If I hover over the Package Management icon I get that it contains 2 items, which are "Aqpm global configuration" and "Aqpm databases configuration"
No idea of what could be happening, I checked and the package kdemod-aqpm is installed

System Settings Backup

Is there a way to backup all my systems settings with Time Machine? How about for those non apple apps, is there a place where all system settings, application settings, and preferences are stored? Perhaps the Apple Migration wizard could help?

Generally, /Library contains stuff that applies to all users, and ~/Library (or /Users/XYZ/Library for user "XYZ") contains stuff that's specific to a single user. Different apps do different things, but a lot have both system-wide and user-specific settings/prefs. And of course the two Library subtrees contain a lot of stuff OTHER than settings and prefs, too. You shouldn't need to worry about what goes where, in general.
A restore should be just like anything else. For apps, just not having the app running when you restore something is probably enough, though a reboot isn't a bad idea either. For system stuff, a reboot might be better. Depending on the circumstances and details, you MIGHT want to do the restore from the Installation DVD, and run the restore from there. That's probably unnecessary for minor restores, but might be better for some; it's sort of like how you'd handle restoring from any other backup or clone.

System Settings-Audio Capture

In FCE, trying to capture VHS via DV converter box. The sound is not coming over. In system settings/scratch disk (internal hard drive) the audio capture is grayed out. Analog RCA composite video & stereo audio connectors in place. How do I get my sound?

You can't get audio during capture as firewire has control.
Use the audio from the play device if you need to hear what's happening. You will notice latency on the FCE capture window, that's normal as well.

Is there a way to default scratch disks in system settings?

This might be elementary, but is there a way to default the scratch disks in system settings to match the project that you are currently working on?
What I mean is when I switch from project to project my auto save files get all jumbled up.. then when I really needed to retrieve one I had to search them out in folders from different projects.... it was a mess
So as I have it now.. I have to open a project then go to system settings and switch all my scratch disks accordingly.. but I always forget to do this not to mention that it is a pain in the *** and time consuming..

I just create one master file for all my FCP projects inside it there is the autosave folder, thumbnail and waveforme cache folders.. then inside each one FCP automatically creates a seperate folder with your projects name.. so you can find them easily

This is really unfortunate. I'm sorry that nothing works. I was going to mention holding down the power button and doing a force shutdown but you already did that. You might need to take it into the Apple store. I don't know if booting into safe mode would help. You would have to turn off the machine again, hit the start button and hold down the shift key after you hear the tone, but normally you would let go of the shift key when you see the apple logo and spining wheel. Maybe by holding down the shift key after you here the tone will cause the screen to come back on? The other option is to start up from the 'install disk' if your machine came with one. You would insert the disk, then shut down the computer, and hold down the C key right after hitting the start button.

SharePoint Reporting Services Integration - System Settings Page Issue

Hi All,
A client of mine has setup Reporting Services (SQL Server 2012 SP1) integration on a SharePoint 2010 environment and this has been working fine for a while now. This includes viewing SSRS reports and also creating PowerView reports from the SharePoint interface.
The only issue that we have is when we browse to the SQL Reporting Services service application via SharePoint Central Administration and select 'System Settings' we receive an error and can't configure any of the settings located on this page.
Looking at the ULS logs I can see the following error is raised:

I removed the existing service application and uninstalled the SharePoint Services (using Install-SPRSService). I then reconfigured the RS services and created a new service application but the error is still raised. All other pages under the service application
can be loaded. We also tried setting the reporting services diagnostic logs to verbose but couldn't see any further information.
Has anybody seen this before? I'm thinking that perhaps some of the configuration settings for this page actually carry a null value when it should be configured with something. Does anybody know where these settings are saved?

Just thought I'd provide an update, we ended up resolving this, problem was related to an incorrect ID one one of the fields in ReportingServicesSystemSettings.aspx.
Updating this to the correct ID resolved the issue. Weird thing was that the file was incorrect on more than one server, only had to obviously update it on the CA server though. After this the System Settings page opened without any problems.

Send a file with the screen errors and system data . Also send a couple of files PDF.
Translates only txt format.

System Settings - KDE Resources

Hello everyone,
I have a very simple question... What exactly does KDE->System Settings->Advanced->KDE Resources do?? The "Help" button on this window doesn't work (at least on my computer) and http://docs.kde.org doesn't say a thing... I'm giving up after a few hours of search... Does anyone know what it does or point me in the right direction? I'm sure there is some docs on it somewhere, it's just that I can't find it.

Earlier resources for calendar, mail, addresses, etc. as well others such as as remote resources are supported in parallel. You can set which resources to use and which ones to be standard (i.e. are to be written to).

System settings do not react

A few weeks ago, i wanted to change my background via system settings. Suddenly the systems settings stopped and i wasnt able to close it or to come back to the main menu of the system settings. all i could do was to close it via cmd+alt+esc.
Now i got the problem, that everytime i want to open the system settings i am directed to the "background" but i cant go back to main menu because the program does not react.
Can someone help me please????

If the re-boot suggested by Shootist007 doesn't work then ensure that System Preferences is closed. If I were you I'd go into Activity Monitor and check that the process isn't running even though you can't see the window. Next, drag the following file to the trash:
<home>/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
Do not delete it from the trash just yet, just in case you need to restore it. Now restart System Preferences, it will re-create the cache file and hopefully sort your problem.

can you help me? - If I start "Systemeinstellungen" (System settings?) and change to "Network" a new window occurs with the text: "Ihre Netzwerkeinstellungen wurden von einem anderen Programm geändert" (your network-settings were changed by a different programme). I can choose "OK" and the window disappeares but it will appear immediately again and again...
What can I do to solve this problem?

This post by ejp1684 seems to have offer a solution:
Once in the network prefs and the popup appears, place your mouse over the place where the "Show All" button is (behind the popup). Then, hit Return - which gets rid of the window and immediately the window is gone, click on the 'Show All" button. I then get a window asking me to save etc, the changes. You can click on any of them and you should be back in the prefs window. Then, when you select the Network prefs, you should be able to change things. If this doesn't work, I found that I had to use the mouse button to click on both the "OK" button on the popup, and then quickly switch to the "Show All" button - took me a few times to do it!
Even if you can't change the settings, at least you won't have to do a hard shutdown.
