System shutting down when converting files

Downloaded 7.5.0.20 and when I try to convert files into Ipod format from existing WMA my PC goes into uncommanded reboot. Not linked to any other applications that I can see and happens too frequently to be anything else. (Running latest AVG antivirus V7.5.516
Have NEVER had this problem before, and have 23Gb of files in Windows Media Player.
Anyone have any thoughts on what might be conflicting or causing the issue?

Found the problem lay with hardware not software - actually overheating the PC as the chip heatsink was clogged with dust. Strange that nothing else had caused reboot but then again life can be strange.....

  • IMac from 2009, 4 GB RAM. System shuts down when I use safari or make much moves on the trackpath.

I've got an iMac from 2009, 4 GB RAM. System shuts down when I use safari or make much moves on the trackpath. Use Mavericks, installed Mavericks again on clean system. Problem still exist. What now?

The 2009 iMaccan take 8 GB ram, while it should run ok with 4 it might be a rather inexpensive test to put in 8 and see if that clears up the problems.  Mavericks is going to use almost 2 GB itself so, unless you are opening a lot of applications, you should get by with 4 GB.  But I would go for 8 and see how it does.

  • My system shuts down when i ask it to sleep.. Help??!!

I have The operating system Windows 8.1. When i close the laptop or ask it to sleep it closes without a problem. On restart all the programs i had open are closed and it reboots as if i shut the laptop down rather than asked it to sleep.
I'm doing my dissertation at the minute and I have many tabs open, it just adds to my frustration when i have to re-open all the tabs and wait 2-5 minutes for the system to boot?
Is there anything I can do?
Knowhow at pc world said there is nothing i can do, its just an operating system fault?
    HELP!!??

    Hi,
How do you wake up your computer, pressing FN? How long it takes to wake up from sleep?
I suspect that your computer unexpected shut down when you put it into Sleep.
Please run SFC /scan command to check if there is any error or corrupted files which may cause the issue.
Would you please also check if there is any minidump created after sleep?
To ensure minidumps are enabled, refer to the step “Configure the dump type” in following article:
How to read the small memory dump file that is created by Windows if a crash occurs

If there it is, please help to upload it here for our research.

  • PSE 10 system slows down when adding files to catalog

I recently switched from PSE 3 to PSE10 and had issues converting the catalog.  I never did resolve those so I decided to start with creating a new catalog in PSE 10.  My first session of adding photos worked fine.  When I restarted the task the next day, I was asked in participating in making the product better by sharing information about my use with Adobe.  I agreed to participate and very quickly noticed that my computer slowed considerably when adding photos from my hard drive.  The process still worked but I experienced a dramatic increase in the time it took for photos to be added (e.g. the cursor spins for a couple of minutes while the task is working).  I went under my account preferences and opted out of the product participation program but the problem has persisted.  I rebooted the computer to see if that would help but it has not.  I have turned off all media analysis and both optimized and repaired my catalog and while this has provided some improvement, there are still instances where the system slows down.  Now it seems that every other folder's worth of pictures (does not matter how many photos) I add causes this delay.
I appreciate any help anyone can provide in determining why this slow down keeps occuring.
FYI, I am running a new Windows 7, 64-bit system with 8GB DDR-3-1066MHz, and 2 TB hard drive.

Have you also edited the Preferences (Performance) to increase the amount of RAM that PSE can use?
Do you have many background processes running?  Having a single HDD means that everything running on your computer has to wait in the queue for disk access.
How many photos are you importing?
What file types are the photos?
    How large are the photos?

  • My IMac shuts down when transfering files to a Hard Drive through USB

    Hi all,
I have been having trouble with my IMac. It's over 3 years old and I didn't actualized the operative system. Everytime I try to transfer files from the computer to a hard drive or pen drive (through USB), the computer shuts down. Sometimes it restarts, sometimes it gets shut. I wonder what's the issue and if getting a newer operate system (Snow Leopard maybe) will help.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Windows unexpected reboot might also be caused by BSOD, here is a blog talking about that:
    Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)
Please follow the instructions to collect the dump files if we found any, then upload them into onedrive and post the link here.
Also a blog talking about crash dump files:

Please take a look in the application log to see if any unexpected stop events.

  • System shuts down when grey screen and grey Apple logo appear

My system (G4 desktop from 2000) is old enough to not support 500 GB HD's natively. So I bought a Tempo controller card that fits into a PCI slot and have used it successfully with Tiger for the past 2 years. I upgraded to Leopard and found that I can no longer boot from my primary HD. My system does have a very small HD connected to the original controller card and Leopard was installed on it just to see what would happen. The computer boots normal. But this small drive is useless since all of my data, pictures, videos are on the 500 GB drive. My accounts are on the same drive. I need to find a way to successfully boot from the 500 GB drive or be able to log on from the smaller drive but use my accounts on the 500 Gb drive.

There is a firmware upgrade for most Sonnet Tempo cards on their website. If there's firmware for your card, you'll need to boot from 10.4 (or from some other drive with just about any Mac OS X), and install the update. The installer pkg is fairly self explanatory. I would unplug those drives from the card during the update. You need to be using firmware version 2.1.2 if you have a SATA controller (use System Profiler to check after the update). Here's the link:
    Link:[http://www.sonnettech.com/support/downloads/computercards.html]
Then use disk utility to setup those drives. You could do this from 10.4 or from 10.5 (or from the 10.5 installer disk).
If all checks out, restart or re-install 10.5 and the drives should be there.
I'm assuming you have some other drive you can boot from. It could be an old IDE drive, or even a firewire drive. If not, now's a good time to make one. It's a good idea to keep something around as a spare boot drive for emergencies (like this). I keep an old IDE drive with several bootable partitions - this drive is usually unplugged. I use disk utility (from the installer CD) to "restore" a working OS onto one of the partitions - it makes a perfect copy.
    Good luck

The first error has nothing to do with Photoshop - that's some .NET application.
The second error is most likely connected to a third party plugin or driver.
And you're running Photoshop CC (14.x) instead of the current Photoshop CC 2014 (15.x).
