System sluggish and unresponsive after 10.6.7 update

I have a 2009 model MacBook Pro and ran the update earlier today with no issues, though when it booted back up the system was very slow to boot and ended up hanging before the dock would load. After hard restarting and trying to bring the system up again, a similar thing happened once applications started to run. It's almost as if the CPU and Memory aren't functioning properly. I'm not really sure what to do. I tried to open Time Machine to attempt to restore to a prior version, but the system won't even allow me to do that.
Can I revert to a prior version or is there a way to reinstall 10.6.7 without brining up that GUI? I need help.

I restored a Time Machine backup that still had 10.6.6 from yesterday, though when it tried to restart after restoring, OS X would hang on the gray screen. I hard restarted and then tried to boot into Safe Mode to the same result. I then booted to the Snow Leopard DVD and ran Disk Utility and verified the disk to find that everything is fine. I then repaired the permissions. After it ran it's course, I attempted to boot into Safe Mode again and was greeted to a hanging gray screen. Just like before the spinning wheel just keeps going and going, but this time the progress bar fills to about 25% and then disappears all together. I'm left with nothing but the Apple and a spinning wheel with no real hope of it completing. Hopefully my early morning Genius Bar appointment can help me.

    HI TO ALL
Is it possible to change our system SID and NR after installation os SAP r/3,
    thanks

    Hi,
It cannot be changed after you have installed the SAP system
You have the option to chose before you setup the system ie, during the installation.

Apple removed blood glucose until further notice. The reason behind this is that it gave a distorted picture in countries where the medical world used other measuring units. I suspect it will be available again in a future update.

  • After beat mapping Logic is very sluggish and unresponsive

I recorded a track without a click, very rubato. Then I manually played in 1/4 notes on a midi track. I used "Beats from region" on the beat mapping track. After that when the song starts to play, if I click on a track or do just about anything with the computer keyboard I get the beach ball and Logic becomes very sluggish or unresponsive. It I revert back to the previous version of the song, without the beat mapping, there is no problem. I did notice that the rubato tempo was screwing up the beat sync on the tape delay plugin, so I put it in bypass, then removed them.

In any case, personally, I avoid to use automatic function suach as Audio to Midi or auto beat mapping...
I'm an old... ... Old school musician...
when I have a song that requires rubato parts and "rallentando" or "accellerando"...
I write the score as Conductor of myself...
I prepare the song by manually editing tempo changes before start recording...
This way is very good also for musician, amateurs, students...
after editing tempo changes Logic will be your personal orchestral conductor trainer...
and will be able to test skill of performer...
the word "PRO" in Logic is focused to professional musician... including students and amateurs can enjoy a fabulous experience ... it is very similar as the musicians or soloists when they are in a professional production environment.
(this is the OLD SCHOOL way)

  • Slow and unresponsive after iOS4 update

While the new features are nice, the slow down is not.
My 3G now seems slow and unresponsive in all Apps and generally.
Not very happy with that to be honest, don't see why it should be slower.

I have had the same problem with my iPhone using the iOS4 update. I reset my iPhone and it was still slow. I also fully turned it off and waited a whole day and turned it on (resulted in a minor improvement to speed). I can't use multi tasking etc because I don't have the 3GS phone. I also had an issue where I couldn't open up iTunes!! I pressed the icon, and the phone froze in the iTunes screen without displaying any albums etc..... then it returned to the home screen. I repeated the process 3 times with the same result. It did eventually open up on the 4th time and played a song. I am not very impressed with the performance of my iPhone after the software update and will give it another week or so to see if Apple release any "fixes" after that I'm going to revert back to the old software.

  • How to pass system date and time with tabular from in Update only Mode.

    Dear Friends,
i have created tabular form with UPDATE Only .here i am assigning work to another multiple users.i want to insert system date and time when i assign work to multiple users.
How can i insert system date and time into table using tabular form in Update Only Mode.
beacuse i have pass in default system date it's working only with add row button.
How can i pass system date and time in update mode in tabular form.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You just create a trigger on the table on which you build your tabular form:
    e.g:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER  "AUDITING"
before insert or update on "MYTABLE"
    for each row
    begin
        if inserting then
            :new.created_on := localtimestamp;
            :new.created_by := nvl(v('APP_USER'),user);
        elsif updating then
            :new.updated_on := localtimestamp;
            :new.updated_by := nvl(v('APP_USER'),user);
        end if;
    end;Regards,

  • Macbook Pro 2012 extremely sluggish and unresponsive

I have a 2012 MBP that I purchased new earlier this year that has been a real pain to use.
    Spec:
    2.3ghz quad core i7
    4GB RAM
    500GB HD
    OSX 10.8.4
Activity monitor always looks like there is tons of CPU and memory available, but I get constant beach balling just switching folders in Finder or opening a new tab in Chrome. Waking the thing up after opening the lid sometimes takes 3-4 minutes.
Here is a screenshot of my Activity Monitor from a few minutes ago when it was acting extremely sluggish. I'm concerned that the page outs might be high? Any advice? Is it normal for these machines to act like this? My 2009 MBP that I replaced with this machine was never this bad...

You need more RAM. You're swapping far too much to the hard drive so that you've so little 'free' RAM that I'm surprised that you can do much at all.
The two best RAM distributors are Crucial and OWC. OWC tends to be a bit more expensive, so I usually go with Crucial. Visit the Crucial website and click on the System Scanner tab - a small app will download. Run it and Crucial will give you the recommended upgrades for your model (which can hold up to 16GB of RAM).

  • Unable to Install Windows Server 2012 R2; system aborts and reboots after first blue Windows logo appears

System:  Dell PowerEdge sc1420 with dual xeon and Adaptec 2420SA SATA RAID (supported by OS); 10 GB memory (2x4, rank 2, organization x4, in DIMM1 & DIMM2; 2x1, registered, organization x8, in DIMM3 & DIMM4)
This computer is currently running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise which was installed with no problems.
Objective: clean install of Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard on an otherwise unused RAID array disk set.
All attempts to boot from DVD result in loading of files (grey progress bar on bottom of screen), brief dark screen, then black screen with a blue windows logo for about 2 seconds and then a flash of about 10 lines of error notifications on a black screen
for about 1/4 second (unreadable), and then a reboot of the computer.
Coreinfo.exe confirms that cpus DO support NX and PAE; do NOT support VMX (virtual machine enhancements).
Attempts to run memtest.exe from boot disk tool-menu startup result in an error message that the memtest.exe file is corrupt.
Running memtest.exe from Windows 2008 R2 install disk results in all memory tests passed!
Attempted booting with multiple DVD's (some +R, some -R, all verified) burned from .iso.  These DVD's were used successfully to install Windows Server 2012 R2 on an HP Pavilion.  Also changed DVD drives just to rule out DVD hardware.
Running CHKDSK from Windows 2012 R2 on HP Pavilion shows no problems; running CHKDSK from Windows 2008 R2 on the Dell system on the same disks shows some problems.  Running checkdisk on the Windows 2008 R2 install disk from the Windows 2008 R2 installed
system shows no problems.  All disks burned and verified on same system.
Also attempted to boot from USB thumbdrive with copy of DVD on it.  Same results: system loads files then reboots at first Windows logo.  So that would rule out disk quality issues per se??
Started to try an upgrade rather clean install to see if any errors were announced.  None were announced as the system went through much of the process.  I aborted somewhere along the way before committing to the upgrade because 1) the most likely
outcome was it would not boot after install (I don't really need the practice in restoring); and 2) even if it did reboot, having a system that can't be repaired by booting the install disk is pointless.
All disks and raid arrays are recognized and usable by RAID controller card and by Windows Server 2008 R2.  Disks are within spec for use with Adaptec 2420SA (1TB @ 300).
Is VMX (aka VT-x) actaully required for ANY install even though Hyper-V is not intended to be used?  If so, it is too bad that the Microsoft system requirements (
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn303418.aspx ) don't make that clear.  And lack of VMX support really doesn't explain the memtest.exe "corruption" issue.
Or is it maybe something unique about the files on 2012 R2 disk (or disk image on USB) that are causing some problem with the chipset processing?  But why?
My vote would be for the latter of the issues, but I have no clue why or if it is remediable.  Suggestions?

So here is what I think is the final understanding of this problem:
First, one additional piece of important information:  The computer successfully moves into and through the Windows Boot Loader phase and succeeding phase ONLY for Windows 8.1 32-bit, but NOT for Windows 8.1 64-bit nor for Windows
    Server 2012 R2 (only 64-bit).
The Windows Boot Manager phase (which precedes the Windows Boot Loader phase) is either 32-bit or 64-bit (64 –bit for this case) and is loaded by the 16-bit stub program (Bootmgr) which starts in real mode.
Windows Boot Loader of course runs in either 32-bit or 64-bit (64 –bit for this case) according to the product being installed.
By inference, the essential problem is occurring in conjunction with the loading of a WIM file to start the Windows Boot Manager.
The boot manager starts ok and generally shows its essential screens (Windows Boot Manager; Advanced Boot Options) or proceeds to load files for transition into Windows startup in the succeeding Windows Boot Loader phase (that doesn’t “boot” but rather
loads the system).  This is best confirmed by the announced corruption of the memtest.exe file when selecting Windows Memory Diagnostic from the Windows Boot Manager Screen.
If allowed to continue loading files to pass control to the Windows Boot Manager, the type of abort and resulting immediate restart that occurs is that which you would associate with unhandled cpu exceptions (invalid instruction, memory out of range,
wild interrupt, etc.) that most of us have not commonly seen for 20 years (since beginning to use well behave OS’s from Windows NT 3.1 and on).
So, the problem obviously is due to a failure to properly mount the WIM file and/or properly access it (probably the latter) when running in 64-bit protected mode.
This is independent of the hardware on which the install disk is actually mounted (DVD or USB-flash), so it is NOT a hardware problem
    per se.
Since the WIM is mounted early in the process, Boot Manager may well have loaded it using BIOS routines to access the physical device on which it resides rather than loading 32-bit or 64-bit drivers of its own.
Hence, if the BIOS does not “mount” the WIM in a way that is later fully compatible with access from the 64-bit systems being loaded, it could cause apparent file corruption.
If it is only partially incompatible some functionality may appear quite usable (like loading files) until later detected.
This is vague on my part, because the exact nature of the incompatibility cannot be readily determined from the information available.
But the consequence is the same: the system cannot boot from the install disk, either for initial installation or repairs.
Incidental conclusion:  The 64-bit boot manager code for Windows Server 2008 does not exhibit this faulty behavior, but the 64-bit code for Windows Server 2012 does.
So the problem is not inherent with loading 64-bit server OS’s.
Expectations:  If the system were to be upgraded using the features of the install disk while running an installed OS, say Windows Server 2008 R2, it might well succeed and yield a fully functional system upgraded to Windows Server 2012
R2 (because the installed operating system is started from discrete files, not from a WIM file).
However, in order to perform a disaster recovery using Windows resources (such as image backups from Windows Server Backup), one would have to presumably boot from a Windows Server 2012 64-bit install disk or Windows Server USB recovery drive.
Of course we know that the Windows Server install disk will not boot and we can be fairly sure that the problem will migrate to any Windows Server USB recovery drive that is created.
My inspection of a Windows 7 System Repair CD shows that is based exclusively on boot.wim, not discrete files!
Of course a generated image for a WIM for Windows 2012 USB recovery drive
might not have the flaw that drives this behavior, but it probably would.
Problem conclusion:  A BIOS upgrade would be required for compatibility with Windows Server 2014 clean installation
and any maintenance; and none is available from the OEM.
Problem not resolved, but understood for future reference.
Thanks to Tim whose comments helped me focus my thinking.

  • System freezes and restart after user login screen shows up

The interesting thing is thing is that the same thing happens on the bootcamp partition. Every time I turn on MBA mid 2012, when the login screen shows up, the computer freezes and than turns off. Same problem when I boot into bootcamp partition, the computer turns on, pass through windows logo and after the login screen shows, it turns off.
...forgot to mention that it's running osx 10.9
I figure out that I can log in with Sage Mode. Every time I log in with Safe Mode, the error popup message shows up saying about the error and its log. There is the log:

    Any ideas?

Problem solved... Figure out that in Safe Mode, the bootcamp partition is unmounted. So I thought that it could be the problem, when the login screen shows up, I guess the system was trying to mount the bootcamp partition and for some reason the computer was restarting. That's why the computer was turning off when I was trying to log in into Bootcamp partition also. So I wiped my bootcamp partition and resized the OSX partition. Now I can succesfully log in my user with out a problem

  • Sluggish and Unresponsive

Is anyone else having problems with the Moto Droid being sluggish?  My Droid is extremely slow to respond, if it decides to respond at all.  I took it into the store and they removed my antivirus app, which helped it a little bit.  But it's still very, very slow.
When I slide the screen to access the keyboard, it delays the home screen from loading up for at least 10-20 seconds, and sometimes I have to remove the battery and restart the phone to get it to show up.  It also does this during phone calls.  I can't even tell you how many phone calls I've been unable to take because of my Droid's slow response to answering the phone.
I've uninstalled apps that I don't use very much, and I've moved as many as will allow me to my SD card.  Nothing seems to help.
I'm frustrated and have been telling everyone that asks about the Droid NOT to get one because they're garbage.  Really, really wishing I would've kept my BlackBerry.  Guess it serves me right for wanting newer and "better".

I'm having the same problem.  I took it into verizon and they tried to see if it was the sd card and removed it and cleared that to see if the apps were pulling things from the card.  After that didn't work they did a factory reset on my phone.  That seemed to make it faster once they did that.  But once I put my apps back on the phone adn have been using it for over a week now, it's slow and sluggish again.  I was told that this was all documented in my file and if I took it back with the same issues they would give me a replacement phone.  Trying to decide if it's worth getting another phone that was repaired or just keeping my phone and deeling with it till I can get a new one.  Would love if they allowed me to get the Droid2 or DroidX and paying the difference.

  • IPad unresponsive after iOS 8.02 update, doesn't show up in iTunes, hardware reset (home and standby buttons both held down for ten seconds) not working

I have a 32GB iPad mini that was purchased new in June of this year. A little while ago, I started the iOS 8.02 download while it was plugged into a wall socket using an official apple wall to USB plug and an official apple thunderbolt cable. I then left for 25 minutes to get some food.
On coming back, I discovered the iPad with a black screen showing the apple logo. I thought this was just an ordinary part of the update, it was restarting or something after installation, so I thought nothing of it. Then, after another minute or two, the screen flashed blue and then went completely black.
Puzzled, I waited for another second and the apple logo reappeared as if the iPad was restarting again. However, after a few minutes, this happened again. This has been going on for the last half an hour, and I was wondering has anybody experienced this before.
As I stated in the title, it won't show up in iTunes, and the hardware reset or whatever it's called doesn't work. Also, bear in mind I had issues syncing it with iTunes the night before and it also seemed to crash a few times last night, restarting the iPad and bringing it to the blank screen with the apple logo for a few seconds before going to the lock screen. That didn't happen at all this morning though.
The iPad is not jailbroken, however, it does have licenses for gba4iOS, which is still installed on it, and a VPN license installed on it by the Hola app, which I deleted but never bothered deleting the license for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Colin how are you?
I updated my IPAD yesterday and have the exact same problem.
Itunes does not recognize my ipad. Home and standby also doesnt work.
Also have the blue thing every few minutes and the apple logo but it never goes beyond it.
    Have you solved the issue?

  • OS keyboard and mouse completely unresponsive after 10.6.1 update.

    Hello,
Snow Leopard was running fine. I updated to 10.6.1 and now the computer boots up normally (background programs seem to be running fine) but the keyboard and mouse are completely unresponsive. I am even unable to dim the screen, change the volume etc etc. I was able to go into safe mode but then keyboard and mouse again are unresponsive.
    Please help!
    Thanks.

I had something very similar happen. I shut the lid on my MacBook. When I opened it up, I tried to type in my password (I have it password protected when it sleeps) and none of the keystrokes did anything. I had to hit the power-off button to cold boot the computer.

  • Screen froze up and computer became unresponsive after 10.7.1 update

I updated yesterday to 10.7.1 and after the update the computer screen froze and then had white blocks on the screen in a pattern.  Now the screen is black and it will not boot up?
    Does anyone have any ideas?
I have done a PRAM and SMC reset and it still does not work.

  • System rebooting and hanging after installing Radeon Drivers

Hello,  I have a MSI VIA KM266 motherboard with onboard video.  Whenever I install a video card in the AGP slot and install the latest display drivers for my Radeon 8500 (i've even tried a Geforce card with the latest drivers) the system will randomly hang, crash, bluescreen, or reboot.  I have the latest bios which are version 1 (ms-6738).  I'm not using any device in the PCI slots either.  I've got 256 MB of DDR ram, 40 gig Maxtor HD, and 8x ACER cd burner.  It's running on a clean install of WinXP Pro.  I'm running out of things to try.  On the other hand, if remove the video card and run the onboard video, the system runs fine.  Can anyone help me??

Sorry the CPU is a AMD XP 2200+ that runs at 1.8 GHz.  Not sure about the max amps though.  How can I find out.
    Thanks!
