System starts to swap too soon - i dont like this

hi,
ive found when there are more than 400 mibs used, system starts to swap. in ubuntu system started to swap when ~900 mb ram is used. i have 1.5 gb ram, so how can i make that swapping would start when maybe 900 mibs are used? thank you.

Try going to system preferences on the Apple menu,>start up disk.select mac osx hd restart. If you can't get there, hold theoption key when you power up, this will open the start up manager, select the mac osx hd. click the arrow under i and it should boot to the internal drive. If you don't the password, you will need the install disks to change it.

Since installing Snow Leopard and Lion two weeks ago, my iTunes program opens seemingly at will. It usually starts playing music, too. What is causing this?

Since installing Snow Leopard and then Lion on my Intel-based iMac two weeks ago, my iTunes program seems to open at will whenever the computer is on. It often begins playing music, as well. What is causing this and how do I make it stop?

There are ways to minimize, mitigate, and help avoid a lot of problems.
Bootable backups.
Zeroing a drive twice before using, and format it with SL DVD Apple Disk Utility for sure.
Even a clean install should import old apps without having to reauthorize.
If you must do an upgrade, do it from the SL DVD, after repairing the drive and be sure to use the SL version of Alsoft Disk Warrior (4.2).
Wait six months before jumping on a new OS.
10% is still too many. Yes, it is more sensitive to RAM and hard drive errors, doesn't like some controllers; most ext hdd cases; and enough software to make for test-only status. And it only IDs some known incompatible applications, drivers, extensions, etc and does not remove even those always in best manner.
Plus, there are problems with the new Rosetta and the cache files it now uses. So some apps and plug-ins will cause more trouble. Not all are ready. Good reason to hold off for the months it takes.
Other devices act different as far as on/off behavior.
(Migrating from G5s to Mac Pro can cause all kinds of problems, weird behavior, sluggish system, and why anyone that went down that road was strongly recommended to NOT use Migration Assistant for any of their applications, and to ONLY do clean/fresh installs of any apps. If you skipped that day, didn't read the Guide to M.A., or didn't want to do fresh installs then, your system could have been on borrowed time. If you did do clean install of applications, great.
Installing SL can result in a corrupt directory - I think and it "seems" to be happening, but no real proof, just gut feeling and instinct (underlying file system problem? weak sectors that pre-existed waiting to happen?).
Remember all the "there just aren't a lot of 64-bit drivers" for Vista and XP? it's come home to roost.

When i open firefox, the, i think it's called the history menu, opens in the left had side too and i would like this to stop.

it's the bar that runs from the top to bottom of the left hand side of firefox. i have no idea how this started, it didn't do this before, and i am starting to get annoyed. i looked through the settings, and google and couldn't find how to stop it. could someone give me the step by step?

HT4798 I have not come across a system that forces you to keep changing passwords like this one, I log in using my i.d.and password and suddenly it is rejected so instead of re establishing it I have to choose another,this is crazy.

I have now had to change my p/word four times as apple i.d. keeps rejecting the current one after a while, there is no password recovery system anymore just a select new option which is tedeous and confusing.

I recently changed my Google Password and so I was getting the same message everytime my gmail tried to update on my phone. you would need to update the password on the account website, scroll down a bit it will allow you to update the password

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

However, before you go that route, here are a few tips to make FF4 look like the previous version. 
* Right click a blank part of the tab bar and click "Tabs on top" to remove the checkmark. Tabs will subsequently reappear below the search bar. 
* Repeat the same steps, but click the top one called "Menu bar". This will reinstate the text links at the top. 
* To rearrange the layout, repeat the same steps again and choose "Customize". A panel will open and while that remains onscreen, you can move elements like toolbars, buttons etc around and place them anywhere you wish. You can also drag anything you don't like into that panel and add anything you want by dragging it out of there.

My friend bought a pearl days ago. So I got the chance to get close to this phone~ but the impression is a disaster for me.
If you compare the pearl with any moto or samsung smartphoes, you can easily find out how far Blackberry needs to go to reach their manufacturing process and industrial design!
I am wondering that if blackberry doesn't know how to make a good cellophane, why they choose "made in Canada" ?

I switched from an HTC P3300 (Artemis) running Windows Mobile 6 to the Pearl 8120, both on T-Mobile. The Pearl is smaller, lighter and quite nicely made. You may prefer other phone's navigation, but I found I can do virtually everything with one hand, something nearly impossible with the Windows units.
Connecting to the web, SMSing videos or pictures, voice calling, etc. are easier and better with the Pearl. I don't care much for the keyboard, though. I could type faster on the P3300, but I needed a stylus to do it... Perhaps BB could use their voice calling technology to implement voice dictation, which is after all the same principle... that would be awesome...

[SOLVED] System freezes when starts using swap

When my system starts using swap, it completely freezes. Switching to tty doesn't work either.
There is already a topic on this problem, but the only advice it has is "use zswap" or "do not open 20 tabs at the same time", which is not really a solution imho.
I'm using a swap file in my home dir with swapon.

I dont like Apple store under the APPLE menu

I upgraded to 10.6.7 today and the first thing I noticed was the "Apple store" is now under the apple menu instead of the "Mac OSX Software".
I dont like it and deited to get rid of it and I did so by using the AppZapper utility.
Deleted apple store and now my menu is back to "Mac OSX Software"
Just wanted to share if anyone else dont like the "Apple Store" under the apple menu.

And BTW I live in a country where APP store is not supported yet, I can buy anything there so for me of no good.

Thanks for the reply,. I went to the site provided and executed the directions but this did not solve the issue.
Even more details:
If I send a message to the Jane Doe address from another account on this machine (all my family uses the same email services provider and each have accounts set up on this machine), when you open it, it shows Jane Doe then the <applejax.xx> address AND the picture associated with the Apple Jax account.
So the problem shows up when the message is sent to this account from this machine, AND when it is sent from this machine from this account. No other accounts on the machine are effected.
I have sent and received email messages from the mail service provider's website, and everything is fine.
