System to edit HD

Hi
I want to start putting together a system to edit HD. Have been reading the forum for about an hour.
A system like jdmack01 put togther seems pretty straight forward.
Vista Home 64 bit -> Windows 7
Intel Q8200 Core 2 Quad CPU 2.33 Ghz
Asus P5QC motherboard
4 Gig DDR2 Ram
Nvidai Quadro FX570 Graphics Card
Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium Soundcard
Built-in IEEE 1394 on motherboard
3 SATA drives (1 for system, 2 for data)
I have 2 question:
1)
I want to first buy a video card so I can use it in my current computer with Premier Pro CS3.
Will Premier Pro CS3 work with the ATI or Nvidia cards?
Right now I use the low end graphis on the low end Dell machine and tired of the jerky video in the monitors.
2)
I can put together a machine but dont really have the time, the components above cost about $1200, can you buy a machine somewhere
that can edit HD for $1200?

I would actually change just about every hardware piece you selected. You're essentially buying outdated/unnecessary hardware there.
For example, in today's market, anything but an i7 for editing makes very little sense. The 920 is about the best deal you can make.
Going with that, you'd need a different motherboard and memory to support it - 6GB of DDR3 should be plenty to start. But a good call moving to 12 GB if you have the funds.
The Quadro cards are not only overkill, but a few have had issues using them. I get by just fine with a $30 ATI 4000 series card. Don't waste your money on the best GPU there is, cause it just won't make any real difference.
On board sound is perfectly fine, and has been for severel years. No need for any sound card.
I think the only good choice was the minimum three SATA drives. (System, Projects/Scratch, Media)
And you can definitely get all that for less than $1,200. Check out Newegg or ZipZoomFly.

What is the best system for editing HD in Adobe Premiere CS4?

I’m a Portuguese video enthusiast since the linear editing times. I’ve been reading this forum from some days with special interest, cause I want to build a new HD workstation.
My video productions are with AVCHD material and Adobe CS4 Master Collection. My old workstation – good enough for DV and HDV material – can’t now efficiently handle the original footage and editing work.
So, I plan to build a totally new workstation, probably with the following components:
– Board: ASUS P6T Deluxe V2
– CPU: Core i7 975 (3,33 Ghz) Extreme
– RAM: triple channel 12Gb 2000Mhz OCZ Blade series
– VGA: Nvidia Quadro CX 1,5Gb DDR3
– Storage: 4 x Seagate Barracuda ES.2 500Gb 7200 3Gb/s
– Optical: Plextor BD-R/RE reader/writer
– Power supply: Corsair HX1000
– Case: Antec Twelve Hundred
– OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bits
Any suggestions? Any changes needed/recommended? Any money spent for nothing?
Another question: how do I configure the 4 Barracuda ES.2? My idea is 2-500Gb drives splited into a Raid 1 array for the OS+Apps and a Raid 0 array for page file and media cache and the other 2-500Gb drives in a Raid 1 array to store the original footage. I never have more than 2 hours of video to edit, so I don’t need lots of space for the original footage.
Is it better 2 1Tb disks instead of the 4 500Gb? Do I need the RAID arrays? These are the points where I have more doubts.
I will appreciate some opinions and recommendations.

From the looks of it, budget is not so much a problem. However I would not opt for the i7-975, but for a simple 17-920 overclocked to 3.6 GHz. With the money saved from that move alone you can get an Areca ARC-1680iX-12 raid controller with 2 GB cache for some more disks. I would not choose Seagates, but either the cheap Samsung Spinpoint F1 or the WD Caviar Black disks. With current prices I would only choose 1 TB disks, but would not go for less than 4 disks for the video part, and a separate WD Velociraptor as boot disk for OS and programs.
OCZ Blade 2000 MHz is a waste of money. 1600 DDR3 is quite enough and a lot cheaper. As stated in one of the guides linked to above, it makes more sense to get memory with the lowest CAS at the normal FSB frequency than to pay extra for higher frequency at the detriment of CAS.
I include an overview of my system, maybe it gives you some ideas on components.

How to bring the Tcode FI12 in Production System in EDITABLE mode

Dear Sir/Madam,
The T code - FI12 is not in editable mode in Production System. Is it by default remains in NON Editable mode ? Our FI consultant is saying that the users needed it in Editable mode for maintaining BSR Code.
To bring it to Editable Mode, I have to open the Production Client. Is there any alternate exists to bring this Tcode ( FI12 ) in Edtable mode other than Opening the Client ?

Is this a one time activity or a permanent?
You can transport the changes from DEV to PRO without opeing a client.
OR
You can create a cusomize tcode with same functionality with secondary index to use the same entities in editable mode.
Just work with your ABAPer and get it done.

Having problems configuring component COM Security on a Windows 7 system. "Edit Limits" buttons are disabled.

When I select the Com Security Tab from the Components / My Computer Properties page, I cannot modify the "edit limits" on either "access Permissions" or "Launch and Activation Permissions". Both buttons are greyed out and
will not allow selection. I have looked at the DCOM local security policies and added users with permissions to those groups but still no luck. All the help points to server systems but no answer seems to make any sense. I have restarted many times to make

Possible system for editing Scarlet 3k raw footage

After spending a few days on the Reduser.net forum, these are my findings for a decent post workflow with the upcoming RED Scarlet 3K raw acquisition camera. --
i7 980x 6 core cpu (or dual Xeon X5680 cpus- considerably more expensive!)
Compatible motherboard (for either) supporting 24 - 48GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 480 graphics card
4+ Western Digital Black-X 1TB 6Gbps SATA drives configured to RAID-5
At the moment, this should do it. I trust we'll see other computer hardware offerings before the release of the camera.

Critique on a new video editing system

Hi, I am about to order my new system for editing in Premiere (70%), minimal AE (5%) and some color correction (25%). Would like to hear any suggestions , advice or comments on whether this looks to be a reasonable way to spend my money when building a decent current editing system.

Another IISPROXY question (multiple SAP systems)

We've got a challenge. We have SAP EP (6.0 SP12), visible from outside
(via MS ISA server publishing). Also we have several SAP systems (BW,
ERP2004, Solution Manager), that we want to make available from web.
We installed IIS proxy module on portal server machine. It's working.
I even maneged to publish some test reports and WebGUI of BW server.
But when I try to publish in a simmilar way other system, I fall into
problem.
When you call '/sap/bw/' for example, SAP system after authentication
converts it to something like '/sap(lsdkSDF435ssdgf)/bw'. As far as I
understand between "(" and ")" there is some hash of password or something.
The problem is, that it's true and the same for all SAP systems.
So if I put in iisproxy.xml following strings:

A think that's because double '/sap(' prefixes.
How can we avoid that?

Seems it's not working :o( And worst thing, that I do not know why :o(
What i've done.
1) Created an alias '/erp/sap/', that points to '/default_host/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui'.
2) In System Landscape edited system definition (of an ERP2004 system), so that ITS path is now '/erp/sap/' and ITS host 'ourportal.ourdomain.ru'.
3) Created an 'SAP transaction iView' that should launch SU01 transaction in ERP2004 system.
Now when I try to open it from page, portal tries to connect me to our BW server.
Seems that alias are working in some other way :o(
Here's what I can see in IISPROXY log:

What is the best Codec in Adobe CC for Multicam Playback and edit?

I have been editing in FCP 7 for years and decided to make the switch (But I didn't want to ruin my old system (which is still good and seems to run better than the new one) so I bought a Mac-Mini as a test to play with CC). I admit my new CPU is a little weak, but it should run a few tracks of video in a sequence.
I tried switching 5 multi-cam tracks of video on the mac-mini on Apple-Pro Res LT running off a Firewire 800 drive. I have read that 4 streams is better, but whatever, I don't mind pushing a system. It didn't work. Video was to laggy and impossible to switch with.
My old system could edit about 5 pro-res LT video tracks simultaneously with decent results. Not great, but decent or good enough to see what the heck was happening. Though, the footage was on an internal drive.
My question is... Is there a power-user low cpu intensity codec that i should use for multi-cam mode? I am tempted to just switch in SD and Reconnect, but it would be a great thing if there was a codec that could be default for transcoding...

Support Desk Message - Systems missing

I have configured all of my systems in SMSY and can use them successfully for CTS etc from Solution Manager.
When creating a new support desk message I want to be able to pick any of the systems in my landscape in the Attributes: System: and Client.
Why is it that all of my systems are not in this list when they are all configured the same in SMSY? I cannot see any reason why some are in the list and others are not.
ALL of my systems appear in the iBase list and can be chosen for the creation of a change request, but they do not ALL appear in the Systems list for creating a support message or for creating a job in the Job manager.
Any ideas welcome.

I don't really understand what you mean by

When I look in SMSYmy Solution contains all of my logical components, all of the logical components are "active". The Product systems are defined as expected & I cannot see any difference between the ones which appear in the list and those that don't. I cannot see the "put in solution" status you mentioned - is this for the solution, the logical component or the product system?

I want to put windows 7 on my iMac. Do I use Windows 7, 64 bit System Builder or do I use a "retail copy" of the Windows 7, 64 bit ? Microsoft says I should use the System Builder copy. A technical support individual from Apple said use the "retail copy"

A Microsoft technical advisor said that the "retail copy" of Windows 7, 64 bit Home Premium would not work with Boot Camp to put the Windows operating system on the IMac. She said that I would have to use the System Builder copy of Windows 7 to put it on my iMac. An Apple technical advisor told me that I had to use the "retail copy" of Window 7 because that was the one used by Apple when they developed the Boot Camp program. I have also seen some articles from Apple that suggests that both copies of Windows 7 would work OK. Does anyone have any experience that shows which one or both I should purchase to put on my computer?

I used the 64-bit System Builder Edition when I bootcamped my 2010 iMac a couple of years ago. Worked perfectly--installed a very lean system. Without all the extra cr@pware that comes preinstalled on name-brand Win computers, the SBE OS actually works darned well.
However, that was under Mac OS 10.6.8 which remains on that computer for compatibilty reasons not related to Windows. Haven't BCed any newer Mac OS, so your mileage may vary.

Logical System Name in SLD

I was going through the guide

for the configuration of IDOCS. In this document, they have asked to verify the name of Logical System in SLD. In SLD I cant find an entry for the field Logical SYSTEM(for my client xxx in R/3). Now I do not want to delete the existing bussiness system but edit it to contain the Logical System Name in it.
Pls help me out.

IDOC from external system

I have scenarion in that we will receive IDOC from external system (SAP system) in XI i.e. IDOC- XI -IDOC scenrio. from my Understanding ,to configure the scenario I have to do ALE from sender side and IDOC receiver channel in receiving side.
External system (SAP) -(ALE)-> XI -(IDOC rcv)--> Our System (SAP)
Please can anyone provide me steps to do ALE from external system.

In Idoc to File scenario, My Idoc 've been successfully send from the sender system.
but its neither getting displayed in the SXMB_PATH nor saved in the specified path.
I checked in SM58 in R3 that RFC user has access to send data to XI. But it showing below Error:_
ERROR:-
No service for system Sender Port (SAPDEV) client sender client (300 ) in Integration Directory

Go to:
TCODE SXMB_ADM -> Integration Engine Configuration
Please change the system rile to be "Application System", then retest if the similar issue happen again after that.
If not helped, follow:
1. Clear SLD Delta Cache Referesh in the Integration Directory
2. Open the Business System in edit mode and select Adapter specific identifiers following the menu path:
Service -> Adapter Specific Identifiers
3. Please click in the button next to "Apply" button to pick up the Logical system from SLD.

I have following questions related to Source system in BI. RSA1 --> Source Ssytem
1) We have following source system connection
BI (DEV) BWDCLNT400 ---> ECDCLNT400,
BI (QA)     BWQCLNT400   --> ECQCLNT400 and
BI (PROD)   BWPCLNT400 --> ECPCLNT400.
I would like to know to manage DTP / Info Packages / Data Source because all these are tied up with source system and we have different names in DEV, QA and PROD ? Is there any way, I can change the source system name after the import steps in BI ?
2) One way to answer my questions is to have a generic names likes BISYS400, as the name of the source system in BI , that points as follows, to different source system on ECC side
BI (DEV) BISYS400 ---> ECDCLNT400,
BI (QA)    BISYS400 ---> ECQCLNT400,
BI (PROD) BISYS400 ---> ECPCLNT400,
What is preferred from above whether step 1 or step 2 ?
3. when we create a source system ECDCLNT400 in BI, I don;t know why it is getting created within "BI" node, under the source system, I know for sure I got selected the code "SAP", before I create source system within BI. How would I move my source system ECDCLNT400, from BI node SAP node with Source system ?
3. Do I need to create the info packages and DTP manually in each region like DEV, QA and PROD again or can I import these Info Package / DTP from QA / PROD ?

how the Infosource names will be changed. If that is the problem we need to maintain the Conversion for this Origin an Target systems after transport
in RSA1 - Tools-Mapping of source System names : hope this automatically leads to the tcode RSLGMP
