System trace question

When I try to run a trace analysis (tcode st01) for example on user nxp between 14:00:00- 14:30:00 it simply does not show any records (when it should). It used to work when I changed the begin time to 00:00:00 and left the end time the same, but now that does not even help me any further. Any suggestions?

Hi Tiede,
In order to do a trace analysis, you need to activate the trace first..
Example,  Select the kind of trace -> Trace On -> Replicate the issue or problem you need to debug -> Trace Off -> Analysis.
Without activating the trace the results will be empty
Hope this help

  • System trace for File, JDBC adapter

    In the  JDBC Adapter Help (help.com) I see:
    „The adapter writes the output (STDOUT and STDERR) for the operating system command in the system trace.”
    Which trace is meant here?
    I have the same question regarding File Adapter.

  • System Trace for function and programs called?

    Hi All
    I'm aware of ST05 for tables accessed, but is there perhaps a system trace that would list all the function modules and programs run during a transaction?
    For example, I'd like to run such a trace on the Transport Logs button in SE10. I'd like to find a function module that would return a table of entries that exist in the tree list for Dev, QA & Prd. This should highlight if any released transports have not be taken to QA & or Prd.
    Thank you and best regards,
    Adrian

    Hi,
    SAP has provided a transactions:
    "SAT" which is a run time analysis tool
    "ST30" Global performance tool.
    Hope this helps

  • System.out vs System.err questions

    Hello,
    System.out and System.err both seem to direct regular and error output to the stdout. I have the following questions:
    1. I used System.setOut() to direct regular output to "Output.txt" and System.setErr() to direct errors to "Errors.txt". I purposely made the program to throw some exceptions, wanting to redirect them to "Errors.txt". It did not work. My question is "What kind of errors setErr() would direct to an error file?"
    2. Without using setErr(), errors go to stdout. My question is "Does Java hava a configuration file I can configue to direct regular output to stdout, but errors to a user-defined file such as errors.log?"
    Thanks!

    I see the stack trace in file err.txt:
    import java.io.*;
    public class Example {
        public static void main(String[] args) throws FileNotFoundException {
            System.setOut(new PrintStream(new FileOutputStream("out.txt"), true));
            System.setErr(new PrintStream(new FileOutputStream("err.txt"), true));
            System.out.println("<stdout>");
            System.err.println("<stderr>");
            throw new RuntimeException("here we go");
    }

  • System Copy Questions R/3 4.6c  + Oracle + Solaris

    dear gurus
    goal system copy in R/3 4.6c + Oracle + Solaris
    I am doing the db export using R3SETUP (quite slow, I have optimize it using split SRT files method)
    I have questions here..
    when I do export I download latest R3szchk, R3load, R3SETUP, R3check, R3LDCTL
    I download from
    Support Packages and Patches - Archive - Additional Components - SAP Kernel -SAP KERNEL 64-BIT - SAP KERNEL 4.6D 64-BIT
    R3szchk, R3load, R3check, R3LDCTL using SAPEXEDB_2364-10001132.SAR (Kernel Part II for Stack Q1-2008)
    R3SETUP using R3SETUP_29-10001132.CAR
    source system : Oracle 8.1.7 - R/3 4.6C - Solaris 9
    my question is
    target system : Oracle 10.0.2 with patches - R/3 4.6C - Solaris 10
    later on when i do import to target system, should I use the same kernel when I do the export, or should I use the one from
    Support Packages and Patches -> Additional Components -> SAP Kernel -> SAP KERNEL 64-BIT -> SAP KERNEL 4.6D_EX2 64-BIT
    another question
    how to speed up the export ? i am stucked with bottle neck in IO, CPU usage is very low, please dont recommend me something related to hardware or disk architecture, if possible recommend me something related to Oracle parameter.
    disk IO  using IO stat showing 100% busy and service time 800-1500
    thanks !

    Yes - use that one. It uses the Oracle instantclient instead of the old 9.2 client. Make sure you add "-loadprocedure fast" to the load options, this will enable the fastloader.
    Make also sure you install all the patchsets and interim patches BEFORE you start the data load.

    if you disk I/O subsystem can´t deliver more than you are lost with Oracle parameters.

  • System speedup questions

    First of all, hello to all the community, i'm a new user in Arch linux but no so new in linux. I've being using
    ubuntu linux since 4 yerars or so. I've changed to Arch linux because its speed and because I wanted to
    learn more about linux and I thought Arch linux is a good distro for it.
    In my search to learn I started compiling packages from sources and recently I dare to compile a customized
    kernel. I used the makepkg methode and I achieved to do it with allmost all the modules I think my Inspiron
    6400 Core Duo T2400 needs. The problem is that I havent seen a boot speed improvement, and here come
    the question, what else should I do?

    GRANJEROX

    Well I have a possible suggestion but it might not be the kind you want/would like: give up on the idea that running a custom kernel and building everything from source will improve your boot speeds or general system responsiveness, perhaps I should say "especially when using Arch Linux".
    As an X-Gentoo user I can tell you that notable speed advantages of a source-based distribution are a myth. FWIW I doubt Arch shipping i686 rather than i484 packages actually makes *too much* of a difference.
    When I installed Arch Linux (comming from Debian) I was quite stunned by the rapidness of the boot sequence, but I "blame" the init system.
    P.S.: We (you and me) seem to be running Arch Linux on nearly the same hardware (nearly the same laptop) HUHU!

  • NonSAP client- SOAP- PI- ABAP Proxy- SAP Business System EOIO Question

    Hey all... wondering how and if the following can be accomplished
    I have a nonSAP client that is sending SOAP message pairs to PI 7.11 SP06.  PI is then sending these messages via ABAP Proxy to our SAP business system.  By pairs I mean for each event in the client it's going to send 2 messages to PI and then to SAP business system.  These messages have to be processed by PI and SAP in the exact order the client sends them.
    My goal is to have the client somehow specify the queueID and quality of services as EOIO when it calls PI via the SOAP message.  The reason is when the client sends 1 set of messages we don't want it to block subsequent message pairs if something goes wrong with the first.  We're going to have an "ID" as part of the queueID that will be unique by pair.
    My question: is it possible to specify this queueID (and the qos=EOIO) in the SOAP message that is sent to PI so this queueID carries through PI and into the SAP business system?

    hi,
    you can do that :
    a) in standard with http adapter :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/64db4daf9f30b4e10000000a11466f/content.htm
    with &queueid=<queueid>
    b) not in standard with SOAP adapter

  • Mac system font question!

    I'm working on a Mac. American Typewriter comes with the computer as a system font. I've created a logo with this font. The client would like me to include the font in the "packaging" of the logo. Is this okay? It will be used in print, online and TV.

    That is not a question that we can not readily or authoritatively respond to here since the font in question was not licensed from Adobe.
    The American Typewriter fonts bundled with MacOS are indeed visible to and usable within Adobe applications. In fact, I did try creating an InDesign document using all six styles of that font on my Mac system. I also successfully exported PDF/X-4 from InDesign and the fonts embedded without a problem.
    However, all that means is that Apple (or the foundry from which Apple licenses the font) have not put any physical security in place to prevent font embedding within PDF (or EPS or PostScript). That having been said, you would need to obtain the actual license for the font from Apple to determine if they or their vendor has any restrictions against such commercial use.
    If you had licensed the font from Adobe, the answer would have been that you could embed the fonts and use them as you described. You could not embed them in an HTML stream or with an application program for dynamic use (such as with an iOS or Android application). But as part of a static logo, you would be good to go.
    You need to see if Apple has its font licenses on its website to ascertain what their restrictions, if any, are. If the license is not on their website, you may need to contact Apple's legal department.

  • Editing system build questions

    Hi everyone,
    I'm building a computer to use for video editing and graphic design.   I'm a moderate level user of Adobe's CS5 package...mainly Premiere,  After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.  I have some hardware questions that I was hoping to run by those who know more than me:
    1)  Processor:  do you prefer the AMD Phenom II X6 1055T or the Intel i7-930 chip?
    2)  OS:  Can Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit work, or should I upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit?
    3)  Hard drive configuration: I'm a bit confused about how  to configure my hard drives for this system.  I'm thinking of purchasing  three 1Tb 7200 RPM SATA hard drives.  Which of these options would be  preferred, or do you suggest another alternative?:
    Option 1:
    hard drive #1:  OS and programs
    hard drive #2:  media and project files
    hard drive #3:  scratch disc and export destination
    Option 2:
    hard drive #1:  OS and programs
    hard drives #2 and #3:  configured as RAID 0 and containing all the  media, project files, scratch disc and exports
    Thanks in advance for the help!
    Mike

    You also need to consider motherboard brand and model, amount of memory, size of power supply, cpu cooling and case
    Asus P6 is used a lot... the exact model will depend on just what features you need
    12Gig memory is good, since 24Gig is still very expensive
    If you are going to use RAID with several drives, a 1000watt power supply, otherwise an 850watt should do
    Even if you are not going to overclock, get a good cpu cooler so your Intel chip will last longer
    A case with lots of cooling is required
    Right now, the graphics card most often recommended is the nVidia GTX 470

  • Clone system-unanswered questions

    Hello.
    I neer to clone my system drive (mountain lion) and then upgrade the cloned copy of my system drive to mavericks so I can test it out and make sure I am happy with its performance on my mid 2010 Mac Pro.
    From what I gathered I can just pop in a same size internal harddrive into one of my Mac Pro harddrive bays and run carbon copy cloner and then just clone the drive.
    Where its gets a little hazy for me is, what happens after you have cloned the system drive.
    When booting up with a system drive and cloned system drive in the same machine, from which drive will the Mac Pro actually boot up from when restarting? Will I be asked Where to boot up from? Also could I just remove the original system harddrive from its bay and keep the cloned system drive inside and will the Mac pro then boot as per usual? It's also important to mention I have a password on my Mac Pro that I must type in for any new installs and for logging in, also not sure if this plays any role in complicating things?
    is there anything I should be made aware of regarding cloning a system drive that is commonly left unsaid?
    Thank you to the soul who took the time to help another one, it certainly makes a difference and it is appreciated.

    Chance Harper wrote:
    Thank you Niel.
    So to avoid the blinking question mark of death, should i after the cloning process just go and set the clone as the startup drive, shut down, remove the original system drive and reboot and then it will boot up ok from the newly appointed system clone?
    Also can I give the cloned drive a different name? I mean how will I know which is which after the cloning if it gets cloned using the same harddrive name? For example can I clone my system drive but name it Mavericks?
    There is no need to remove the original system drive. Just go into System Prefs and select the disk you want to use as your startup disk.
    The drive onto which you want to clone your system can be named whatever you want ("Mavericks", "Guinea Pig"). Name it, then clone onto it. Or rename it after cloning.

  • System Requirements Question

    I am using Elements 7 for my video editing, and am thinking of upgrading my camcorder to HD to take advantage of Prel7's HD capability.
    Question is, do I need to upgrade my computer too.
    Currently, my desktop CPU has a dual core Pentium 2.8GB processor with 2GB RAM, running under Windows XP.
    The suggested system requirements by Adobe for HD transfer and editing with Prel7 call for a 3GB processor speed and 2GB RAM.
    I seem to have enough RAM, but can anyone tell me if the dual-core 2.8's will be enough to handle HD transfers and editing?
    Thanks everyone.
    Mike

    Hunt - you said I could burn the project to a blu ray folder "for later" - but I can't see that option in the "Share" menu. It doesn't give me an option to burn to a folder under Blu Ray, unlike under the DVD option. Am I missing that?
    Mike,
    Unfortunately, I may have mispoken, regarding the capabilities of PrE to Burn to Folder for BD. I do not use PrE for my authoring, preferring to use Adobe Encore. I do seem to remember comments that PrE 7 cannot Burn to Folder for BD. I apologize for that. OTOH, one can Export from PrE and use a more powerful authoring program for the DVD/BD production. Adobe Encore is no longer available as a stand-alone, and is only bundled with CS3 & CS4 PrPro. However, Sony's DVD Architect gets some high marks for authoring. Steve Grisetti, MOD here and on Muvipix, has written a book about using DVD Architect. He would know of its capabilities regarding the ability to Burn to Folder for BD. As I only use Encore, I do not test a lot of other software, regardless of how good these might be.
    Sorry that I confused Encore with PrE7. My bad.
    As for the "quality loss" when down-rezing your HD material to SD - there are three things to think about:
    1.) just the loss in resolution going to the smaller sized Project, i.e. from HD down to DVD-Video (big difference)
    2.) the methods that Adobe NLE's use to down-rez - this is what Dan Isaac's article is all about *
    3.) one's player's abilities and methods to then up-rez SD material to be viewed on an HD TV - can be big differences in the algorithms used by each player and player type.
    Good luck, and thanks for both posting your findings and correcting me.
    Hunt
    *  This is not that much different than resizing stills in PS vs letting the NLE do it. There are many of the same types of considerations

  • System reinstall question

    i've got a (new) late 2011 macbook pro, bought it on sale at future shop. when i did the migration data transfer assistant from my old mac to the new one, something got messed up. so now i have to wipe my late 2011 macbook pro clean and start fresh. i'm not quite sure how to do this since the old os versions always came with a cd.
    i have a mountain lion installer on a thumb drive. can i boot my 2011 macbook pro from the thumb drive and use disk utility to reformat and then install a clean system directly from the thumb drive?
    sorry for the newbie questions.

    Boot into recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, wipe the HD, reinstall Lion, and on first boot follow the steps in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide to migrate properly. This assumes you still have the old Mac.

  • System Architecture Question

    I'm trying to figure out the current system architecture of a potiential client.
    All I know is that they're running a JSP web application on Apache Tomcat against a MySQL database.
    1. If they're running Apache Tomcat does this mean they are not using EJB?
    2. Is it true they could be using an application server as well as Apache Tomcat?
    3. What is the best possible system architecture if running only Apache Tomcat against an MySQL database?
    I know these questions are vague, but I'm trying to understand the best possible JSP design without using EJB.
    4. Will there still be a layered approach?
    Thank you,
    Todd

    1. If they're running Apache Tomcat does this mean
    they are not using EJB?According to your information, it seems that they are not using EJBs. Tomcat does not handle that part of the J2EE specification.
    2. Is it true they could be using an application
    server as well as Apache Tomcat?A "full" J2EE application server would furnish the same functionality.
    3. What is the best possible system architecture if
    running only Apache Tomcat against an MySQL database?JSP, servlets, and POJC (Plain Ol' Java Classes). Possibly a Singleton or two to act as database "handlers" for connection pooling, etc.
    I know these questions are vague, but I'm trying to
    understand the best possible JSP design without using
    EJB.Don't use JSPs for anything except display logic (View). Use Servlets for processing (Controller) and POJC for data access (Model).
    4. Will there still be a layered approach?In my opinion, kind of - you're still operating in the Servlet container, which has it's own rules regarding class behavior.

  • XP system recovery question

    When starting the XP System Recovey process, the first screen states that all my data will be lost.  I have a linux partition on the machine that I want to keep intact.  The question is: Will the recovery process destroy my linux partition?
    Thanks in advance.

    Do you have the option to Recover without changing the hard drive partitons?  IF so then you can more than likely do this without losing the Linux partiton (although you will need to re-install your GRUB).  If you don't have this option then it will wipe out everything.
