System Update Download Hang
I got a notification this morning that there was a system update available. I selected the option for the phone to shut down now and install the update. It then turned back on without showing any sort of progress for the update install and went right to the home screen.
When I go to "System Updates" under "About Phone", it tells me that an update is currently being downloaded, but it is clearly not downloading anything. I have been getting this message for several hours. How can I restart the download and install it? I have already tried taking the battery out and restarting the phone. Thanks.

The current System Version is 2.3.20, A955 and Android 2.2. If you have this as your current Droid 2 software, this is the most current update available. I am sorry there is not a way to restart the download. Please check your device to see if this is your current software. The resetting of your device and the message being there for several hours maybe a prior notification that perhaps is not applying to your device.

Why I don't like ThinkVantage System Update? I am on an old, slower machine (which is still perfect for my daily needs to install a clean Windows 7 on it, bought second hand, 2nd, and last Lenovo), it requires NET4, and a lots of resources. It feels like to me that Lenovo just makes things more complicated than they should be.
I prefer the simple installation packages.
I have also found a, seemingly, easier way: the ThinkVantage Update Retriever;
It just downloads me the files I need (without needing NET4), with file names like aqswdefrtdeswaq.exe
Though I don't get why I cannot extract same files from a 'deferred update' chosen in System Update, why do I need a separate Update Retriever for this;
The main problem, however, is this:
- the website and Update Retriever displays files like aqswdefrgtyfrde.exe
- then why can't System Update display them in the same format? This just makes matching the files so much more complicated, for no apparent reason.
To add insult to injury, System Update tells me I need a driver (I am sorry, I am not yet in the NET4 phase of Windows Update as of writing, so I can't tell you which) which I can't find as a separate entry on the home page a single driver.
To sum it up, Lenovo wised up a great process for update:
- First I need to wait until NET4 installs on my fresh Windows 7, for System Update to be able to tell me which updates I need at all
- Then I don't need that bloatware, I can get the single files needed from a much more friendly application called Update Retriever
- The mix and matching between the two is a PITA, because System Update displays files by Windows7/8/XP, 32/64 bit, Date, version number, but under no circumstances under exact filenames, such as aqswdefrt.exe, which would make locating the exact drivers much easier
Why, Lenovo, why? You could make this whole process much more painless, really; if you at least try a little. -
I have an HP 8 G2 1411 tablet. Every time I turn it on or swipe to unlock, the "System Update Downloaded" message appears along with an icon. So ... what do I do next??
Thanks. Tried that several times; didn't work (although it's worked before on my Lollypop OS tablets -- this tablet is Kit Kat). Finally got system update to execute by pulling down Status Bar and launching it from there.

I use the Lenovo System Update to download and install the new drivers. I just wonder after it download the installation file of drivers, what is the directory it put?
I want to find it and delete the installation file after I istall it.

Location of drivers T510 with ThinkVantage System Updates
Hi folks,
Where is the download location of files ´/drivers which "ThinkVantage System Update"download and installs? What I am trying to achive is to write all these drivers to a disk. From Lenovo's website and drivers section I see 100's of drivers which I don't even know are for my system or no? so all I am thinking to write those which are for my machine. Please note that all T510 are not same and the files/drivers which "ThinkVantage System Update" downloads are the one which are required. Earlier I download manually from website but got problems! 100's of versions, 10's of types, 10's of packages etc.

not sure, if this will help, but there is not exact location, where are all downloaded updates listed. However, you can get the list of all updates that were detected by TVSU on following location:
%programfiles%\Lenovo\System Update\session
Each folder name is a download update, that was detected by TVSU.

System Update 5.01.0005 hangs every attempt on my X121e (log files inline)
Hi, I installed TVSU on my x121e laptop and it hangs on 95% on every attempt, like 5th time now. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall and I am using the latest version, I think, which is 5.01.0005.
Note that the system totally freezes on me. Nothing responds and Ctrl+Alt+Delete does not do anything. Only way is to shut down using the power button.

ThinkVantage System Update 5.02 problem -- System Update hangs or freezes when installing KB updates
Often after installing a KB update, System Update will restart the computer and then resume processing to install the next downloaded KB update. However, after restarting, it always freezes or hangs part way through the next KB install. After waiting 5 or 10 minutes, I click on "cancel." System Update acknowledges cancellation but nothing happens, and when I eventually give up and select "End task" in Windows Task Manager, I am informed that "This program is not responding."
Clearly this is a bug, perhaps arising from an license consent dialog box that fails to pop-up. I have resorted to downloading and installing these KB updates one-by-one after a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on my T400 model 2764CTO. Service Pack 1 is installed and Microsoft.NET Framework 3.51, which satisfies Lenovo's requirements. I am running BIOS 3.11 and plan to update it, but would like to solve this problem first, as I would hate to experience a freeze during a BIOS update!
Anyone else having this problem, or any solutions?DID you get the machine from someonelse, outside of Lenovo? DID you upgrade the original o/s?

KB are offered by microsoft, not Lenovo/su. Under a rare condition, SU will offer as KB. A known instance, where microsoft offers HOTFIX, but not for monthly update distribution. Lenovo has their version of this KB. Probably this HOTFIX fixes a problem in Lenovo land driver that needs the hotfix.
I am amazed at how many KB fixes show up for your machine!!!

Always update your BIOS 1st, the Net frame (v4?). Then try the update land.

As I would hate to experience a freeze during a BIOS update
Dont BIOS update during a rain storm. or power fauilure. Always use a ISO (cd) version of this. Download/burn this version in case. Then use the other version, Update from windows. (you now have a backup).
Please research your hardware install guide, as too how to RESET BIOS eeprom. Get tweezers, change the jump prom clip. BIOS flash from 0. Jump prom clip back. Is this scary, yesl jumper is on mother board.

Plastic jumper is 34 56. Change to 1234, and you reload a bios from blank. You can enter UUID, serial number and fun stuff.
Do not loose the plastic jumper. Turn the a/c off. Have reading glasses. But this is the solution to what if BIOS update freezes. Also have a ISO backup of the previous release of BIOS on CD. -
Visual Studio Update 2 hangs for 13 minutes on "Creating a system restore point..."
It appears that Visual Studio 2012 Update 2 hangs for a long period of time before it tries to create a system restore point. Should I create a Microsoft Connect issue for this?
Here is what I did:
I created a new Windows 8 x86 Virtual Machine using VirtualBox. I installed Visual Studio 2012 and Update 1 because Update 2 was not yet out. I came back 1 week later and tried to install Visual Studio Update 2.
When I ran the installer on the Virtual machine, it hung for seemingly 10 minutes at "Creating a system restore point..." I powered off the virtual machine and disabled system restore. I then ran with the /layout option on the host machine
so I could pre-download the files. Then I tried again.
Again, it hung. This time I let it go. It hung for exactly 13 minutes before it gave up and continued on to the install. The log file says this:

NOTE: Although it says "Creating a system restore point" at 12:52, it actually displayed the message on the screen at 12:39. That indicates that it was really doing something else during those 13 minutes, not creating the restore point.
That is corroborated by the fact that it took a long time regardless of system restore being on or off.
If no one has any information or explanation, I will create an issue on Microsoft Connect.I have the same issue. Visual Studio 2013 Professional update 2 was not installed from Web installer. Rather I downloaded a trial version and now want to uninstall it. However, I let the uninstaller try to create a Restore Point all night while I slept.
Next day, not done. So I clicked cancel, and it then commenced to create a restore point for the cancel. I did let the cancel run for awhile but I rebooted.
I then researched something on how to disable the restore point security on my drive, but that did not deter Visual Studio from trying to protect me and it TRIES to create a restore point before uninstalling. Just hangs forever. I don't need a restore point
for an eval copy of VS, thank you very much. Perhaps a simple dialog ("Do you want to create a restore point?") would be helpful?
Update: turning off Windows Defender fixed the problem. -
IBook G4 hangs during update downloads and Update installs
I have an older iBook G4 (model A1133), and it works great. However, I just reinstalled OS 10.5, and while doing the software updates the download will sometimes "hang" and not complete. However, I can cancel that partcular update process, and then go right back and restart the software update process and the download may complete perfectly. I'm at a loss as to why.
It doesn't appear to be my network connection as my PC downloads just fine. Additionally, I've also had the software update download complete normally, but when it begins the installation process, it will begin the install, but will hang and not complete. When that occurs it generally gets to the "writing the installer script" portion of the install, and will hang up and not complete the install. Again, if I quit and then restart the update process it may comlete everything on the second or third attempt. Does anyone know what may be causing this? Thanks in advance.I find that it is better to download a major system combo update than rely on the software update function. You could get the 10.5.8 combo updater and apply it as outlined in these articles.

Lenovo System Update 5.0.3 failes to download packages

SU shows an error dialog saying "An error occurred while downloading packages.".
I reinstalled SU and Solution Center and updated BIOS. But it still does not work...

And I knew that tvsu_log_xxx.txt has important information for debugging.
It turned out that SU failed to download "HelloLevel_9_08_00.xml" for the following reason.
"An error ocurred while setting the digital certificates for this download"
What is this? Do the digital certificates mean SSL certificate?
Anyone know how to solve this?

Go to Solution.I'm having a similar problem with 5.0.5. Whenever it gets to "Downloading Package Information", it will show "15% Lenovo Help Center" and it dies there. Errors below in the log.

I recently did a system update and installed Yosemite on my Mac. Now I am unable to open CS5 at all. The error message I get is this: "To open Adobe Photoshop CS5.1, you need to install legacy Java SE 6 runtime." I have tried downloading this and it still gives me the same mess
In the details it is mentioned that it is an outdated version of Java.
Is this a security risk that i need to live with to get CS5 to run with Yosemite?
Also i need to reject messages from Java in the future about updates, or not?

I am having problem with TVSU 4.0 on a Windows 7 64 bit system where it gets to about 17-18% and consistently gives me "An error occurred while downloading packages"
I've made sure no firewalls are active. Am not using an Proxy servers and have turned off "automatically detect settings" in Internet Options. I've tried to uninstall and reinstall and no change. I've also tried to run as an Administrator and no luck either.
I reviewed the logs that are located at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\System Update\logs
I've highlighted in BOLD the entries below I feel may be the issue, but not sure how to resolve it. I did notice download.lenovo.com link when I try to reach it directly shows file not found???

I have a hp C410 all-in-one series printer. When I updated to 10.8.1 it was no longer supported. HP told me to go to the Apple system updates and download an installation program update. I can't find that program in my Apple updates file. Please help.

I have changed my Apple ID and may be anything wrong did with Disk Utility.
So , I could not download system updates by normal way and downloaded them from Apple site via Folx and have them installed thus.
I have tried check out condition of Toshiba disk and got messages of errors.
What can I do in this situation?
