?? System Update Incompatible with Win 7 Service Pack 1 ??

Hello everyone,
I have two ThinkPads. One's a T61p and the other is a W500. Both have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (beta) installed and both have ThinkVantage System Update 4 (v4.00.0024) installed.
It seems the System Update is incompatible with Service Pack 1. When I try to run the System Update, it seems to start fine but when I try to get new updates, I receive the message, "An error occurred while gathering user information."
Has anyone else had this error? Will a new (compatible) version of System Update be released?
Thanks

i had the same problem got it working by adding until they update for now

  • My Satellite A205-S5800 Is InCompatible With Microsoft Vista Service Packs

I don't know where Toshiba gets off saying they're compatible with the Vista Service Packs when they are most certainly NOT.  I have had the SAME exact problem with SP1 & SP2.  I bought this paperweight at Best Buy (NEVER shop there), with Vista Home Basic, and ran into problems one month later, when I tried upgrading to SP1 (via Windows Update).  It rebooted, and then refused to load.  I had to reinstall everything.  Again and again this happened.  I took it to Best Buy, and they told me it was a faulty hard drive.  Replaced, the problems reoccurred again.  So, Best Buy claimed it was the Motherboard.  A fresh one installed, SP1 finally worked from stand alone download.  For 9 months, no problem.  Then I stupidly decided to update to SP2 (via Windows Update).  The SAME exact problem.  Files were corrupted.  Restore points vanished.  Always with reinstalling to original format.  I get SP2 standalone to work, and then Microsoft Update tells me I need to update with something or other.  Rebooting ONCE AGAIN prevents me from loading up anything.  Bets Buy now claims it's a software issue.
So, 3 different problems caused the exact same problem.  Always with Windows Update, and almost always with Service Packs.  This is compatibility?  Toshiba sold me a lemon, a giant paper weight.  I cannot upgrade it to Service Packs, and who knows which update next will frell me over.  Especially since Microsoft forces updates on us from time to time.  I have every right to update this laptop to the latest Service pack or other such necessary update to keep my system secure.  What happens when my vulnerable machine is hijacked and zombieifed by nogoodnicks, and the police come knocking at my door?  After all is said and done, and they chastise me about not updating my system, do I tell them, "No, it's OK.  Toshiba says it's totally cool not to.  They think Microsoft Service packs are evil"?  Believe me, this situation can and has happened before.  Machines can be compromised, and police will think it's you first.
Now, who at Toshiba do I speak to about a refund/replacement?  I Lemon Law (via California) you, Toshiba.  You sold me a worthless hunk of junk, and that is unacceptable.  I will not use a system that can't be updated because you don't like Service Packs and Windows Update.  and money was not spent to not use a laptop.

I think your tinfoil hat is on too tight.  If it was a problem with that model, then nobldy would be able to update Windows, and there would be thousands of posts all over the Internet.
Problems are usually caused by software, sometimes installed by the user, and sometimes installed without the users knowledge.  What's the state of your malware protection?  Have you scanned for rootkits?
You also might want to run the System Update Readiness Tool to find problems.

  • JSP Server is not compatible with Win XP Service Pack 2

i've install java serve into my comp system with the following specification:
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 2
    Processor: Pentium 4,1.60 Ghz
    RAM:256
    Database: Microsoft Access 2003
    The PROBLEM are:
Page with .jsp extension cannot be diaplay, when it's come to .html/.htm there is no problems at all.
Why this kind of problems occur is it because of the my comp. spec or because of Jave server didn't suite with XP Service Pack II...
I TRIED SO MANY TIME BUT THE OUTPUT IS STILL THE SAME!!!

I TRIED SO MANY TIME BUT THE OUTPUT IS STILL THE SAME!!!You think you should be able to double click a .jsp file and display it?
Tell me, what should be launched when you do this?
This is not the way to run .jsp files. You need to deploy them in a web app on a servlet/JSP engine and submit HTTP requests to that app server from a browser. You cannot double click on a JSP and display it.
    Repeat: It can't be done.

  • Essential System Updates for Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Hi, I want to know if this is applicable to sp2 as well. I don't know why there is not one for sp2. I have a hpg60 laptop and this is listed on the drivers page.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

It is just a rollup of Vista updates. All are included in SP2 so you can forget about it. Just apply SP2 (as you did) and run a full MS update and you will be fine.

  • Pagemaker/Indesign incompatible with WIN XP SP3

I just had WIN XP Service Pack 3 installed in my computer after a bad crash, and immediately there were problems. The worst so far, is that files made in Pagemaker 7.0 cannot be read in InDesign CS2. I'm told that CS3 solves that problem, but what a rip off. I've been able to make PM files into a PDF and bring in the PDF to InDesign, but I can't edit the PDF then. Adobe says they have no plan to fix CS2, that users should buy CS3. My first job this morning is to delete Service Pack 3 and bring back SP2. Best, Cliff Moore

I haven't gotten SP3 on my system yet. In what way can PM7 files not be
read into Indesign CS2? Do you get an error message?
AFAIK, both ID CS2 and CS3 can open Pagemaker 7 documents, although
there are some scenarios in which you might have trouble (missing
graphics, missing fonts). AFAIK, these have nothing to do with Windows.
I'd be happy to try to open your PM files here, though. I have both CS2
and CS3 loaded. kbenson at pegtype dot com

I cannot start the Utility on a Win 7 service pack 1 machine

    hi HaoleBoy,
    Welcome to the Forums.
I've worked with lenovo models that has an embedded Intel HD Graphics (these are units with core i3/i5/i7 CPU) but never ecountered a problem on them in installing Win7 SP1.
If you have one of these units, can you try to:
    1. Update your Intel HD Graphics driver by running the Intel® Driver Update Utility (newest driver is v15.28.15.64.3062 (9.17.10.3062)
    2. Download and install the Windows 7 SP1 Standalone Installer (choose the windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe 903.2 MB for Win7 64bit)
    Hope this helps

my pc windows vista home system and wndows vista ultimate boht service pack 2 and itunes do not recognize or do not see the ipod touch 4g ios 5. why'??'

    Windows Firewall is on.
iTunes is NOT enabled in Windows Firewall.
We'd better check on that, kris. If you enable iTunes in your Windows firewall, does that help with your connection? See the following document for instructions:

We also had the Forte hanging problem when upgrading to NT Service Pack
    4.00.1381 from 3.
We require SQL*Net for a Forte add on product(Dore) used by developers. All
SQL*Net access worked except from Forte. By upgrading to SQL*Net client
2.34.00 we were able to get the problem resolved. If you are using SQL*Net this
    might help you.

  • List all servers with OS and service pack

Is there an easy way using any script or software to list all servers joined to your domain including operating system (i.e. server 2008) and service pack level, without having to check each manually?

    Hi Cf090,
The limit is used to Specify the number of objects to return that matches the criteria that you specify. If you specify a value of
0 for <NumberOfObjects>, this parameter returns all matching objects. If you do not specify this parameter,
dsquery displays the first 100 results by default.
For more detailed information to use dsquery, please refer to this article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754232.aspx
If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know.

  • How can I install my Adobe Photoshop on my computer with Windows XP Service Pack 3?

How can I install my Adobe Photoshop on my computer with Windows XP Service Pack 3?  Seriously frustrated.  I put the disc in the drive and nothing happens.  I open up add/remove programs and I get an error message stating it can't find a disc.  I chatted with Adobe support, and they decided to send me here. Probably because they knew I wanted to spend all day online trying to figure this out.

Download from Adobe's website, install then enter your serial number.

  • No GMail found using FF 17.0.1 with Windows XP Service Pack 3

I recently made FF my primary browser. iGoogle is my homepage. Using an older PC with Windows XP, Service Pack 3. I have a gadget on my homepage for GMail, but it won't open up for me, nor can I manually go to Gmail. The message I get in the Gadget box is:
    The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
    cookies.
I am new to FF, and don't understand what I need to do to fix this error.

    You're welcome

  • Memory problems - WIN 2K, service pack 4 with Oracle 9.2.0.4.0

We have a Win 2K server that is running Oracle Server 9.2.0.4.0. Recently we upgraded to NT service pack 4 and have been experiencing memory problems - running out of process memory. We think that Oracle may be causing this, as we have done some troubleshooting. What may be happening is that every time we make an Oracle call, there is some kind of memory leak that is occurring. This is related to connecting to the C runtime.dll.
Is this familiar to anyone, or does anyone know where I can locate some documentation about this?
    Thanks!

I think it is not so hard issue. there could be many reason for this. I will suggest that first you should increase virtual memory of your OS and then examine the performance. SP4 is basically security pack and most MS SP related to Securities issues they do not increase system burden.

  • Error 1101 still appers with XP Home Service Pack 3 - What Now?

    Hi,
I have received an error message 1101 (corrupt windows installer service) after trying to update Java.
My system is Windows XP Home with (recently updated Service Pack 3).
This error messgae also appeared with service pack 2 , so I don't think the recent upgrade to service pack 3 is any cause.
    I have tried Java's instructions to ..........
    Go to Start -> Run.
    Type msiexec.exe /unregister
    Click OK
    Go to Start -> Run.
    Type msiexec.exe /regserver
    Click OK
    Run the Java installation again.
This did not work, so tried their next suggestion to...........
If the above fails to address the issue, download and install the latest Windows Installer Service from Microsoft for your respective operating system.
For related information visit: Microsoft Windows Installer
This did not work either as Microsoft download advised as I have Service Pack 3 I do not need the download.
So I still have this error 1101 message when update Java and presume it has something to do with this Windows Installer Service. (actually wondering if this why my pages are taking longer than normal to load also).
I could restore back to before servic pack installation and then try the microsoft download but wondering if there are any other suggestions first.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

I have exactly the same problem - XP Service pack 3 and can't successfully install Java update. I also have followed all of the advice mentioned with "msiexec.exe /unregister" and "msiexec.exe /regserver" and then renamed the files and tried again, and then tried it in safe boot mode, then tried to update the Windows service, etc. but to no avail. I still keep getting:
"Error 1101.Error reading from file:http://javad-esd.sun.con/update/1.6.0/sp-1.6.0_07/sp1033.MST. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."
Has anyone with XP service pack 3 had any joy? Mike_Shellshear

  • Not enough space for Win XP service pack 3

I am working on an install of Win. XP Pro SP2 for the principal of our middle school. I first got Leopard all updated, installed 3rd party software, completed updates to all and then ran Boot Camp assistant. Thinking that 5 gig would not be nearly enough space I made the Windows partition 25 gigs. I completed with the XP install and started the updates process. Shortly thereafter a message popped up that stated the partition was 4 gigs too small for installation of Service Pack 3 and I had to back out of the updates process. What are my options at this point? Can the windows partition be increased without having to start over with the windows install?
