System update won't update

I had to do a factory restore and since then no matter what package either I manually install or system install , for system update for Lenovo 3000 N200 0769-alu notebook,, system update still gives run time error code. I have installed and re installed every package offered from when my system was bought in December 2007, one by one from the bottom to the top and the top to the bottom and still runtime error on system update.. Rescue and recovery has also been installed and uninstalled from the bottom to the top, and still only get the old very first rescue and recovery before all the perks came to it in 2008 and 2009. I know system update did a major overall and is now linked through message plus which has also been installed and re installed and all the WER patches show up in cmd as installed ,,  But this manual crap is for the birds ,, I just want the system update to update when needed.. Also the bios is showing as updated so that went in okay etc etc. Any moderator have a quick link to a package to solve this problem ,, I have perused the downloads, drivers and software package center for 2 weeks now, uninstalling and re installing various or all of Lenovos packages but still a big runtime error on system update.. The factory restore was all because MS ordered me to do it as it was the only way to get the SP2 Vista update in and after they had totally messed up the system with all there co-pilot wonderful Indian techs screwing around in there trying to get the sp2 update in.. Before that everything was fine.. Now they blame Lenovo,, which is crap, but anyway Mr. and Mrs. Lenovo,, anyone got a quick link for the correct system or the latest system update software package for Lenovo System update .. The 3.14 is the one with the runtime error code.. Any solutions ,, I do like my system current and up to date..   Thanks

If your machine currentlty won't boot past a grey Apple screen, you may find the following article helpful:

  • System Updates, Now Won't Boot

I did four recommended system updates yesterday, two being Security and ITunes. Now my MacBook won't boot, even in Safe Boot mode or from the disk. Just the blue screen and the circle. I have it connected to another computer so I can see and get into the HD that won't boot but I'm not sure how to bring it back without deleting other files that have nothing to do with it. I'd like to return my system to how it was before I did those updates. It does not have TimeMachine. Is there any way to return to "yesterday" before the updates?
    Thanks from Gina

You won't be able to return to the "yesterday" configuration unless you have a backup.
I assume you are using Target Disk mode to connect the MacBook to another Mac. If so, use Disk Utility on the other Mac to run the following: first Repair Disk Permissions. If that doesn't correct the problem, then run First Aid.

  • Firefox won't "Open File..." to my hard drive/desk top since my OSX system update yesterday -- why?

Did an automated OSX system update and noticed after reboot that Firefox now won't "Open File..." or recognize any files (video, pdf, etc) on my computer! (Problem may not be related to update but suspicious timing!) Seems to play streaming video OK...
Checked/updated plugins from Firefox site and reinstalled Firefox without success -- issue remains. Safari recognizes all / will "Opens file..."
Any ideas how to fix? Thanks!

Hello, have you tried this full route?
This can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't help & you can afford to redo any Mail Rules...
    Trash these files...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/... MessageRules.plist and MessageRules.plist.backup

Win 7 x64 on Thinkpad W510.  Original OS install from 2 years ago with multiple updates.  Most recently, System Update 5.05.  Manually downloaded and tried to install 5.06. Failed to uninstall old version, so I did a manual uninstall (deleted directories and searched all entries in registry and deleted).  Now 5.06 no longer stalls at uninstall of ver 5.05, but fails to complete the install of 5.06 with the log entry

    Hi,
What follows is guesswork on my part...
That 1157 error code translates to:
One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found.
On the TVSU 5.06 page (here) under software requrements I see:
Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 with Service pack 1 or Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 is required for System Update to work Correctly. Use Microsoft Windows Update to ensure that Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 or 2.0 is installed on your system.
Do you have an appropriate .NET installed?

  • Lenovo System update 5.1 won't install on windows 8

My sytstem update worked for a few weeks in windows 8 and then it stopped loading.  I tried to do an uninstall and reinstall but unfortunately I get the following message "the wizard was interrupted before lenovo system update could be completely installed" I read forums that I need to have .net install which I already have so what else could be the problem.  Are there any files that I should make sure are deleted?
    Solved!

Had the same issue and the same error message after System Update 5.01.0005 stopped working and would not install after being uninstalled.
I looked at the installation log and there was an error about service installation failure. So I looked at the Windows Services, and there was a System Update service installed, pointing to a non-existing folder under Program Files (x86). I removed the service manually (sc delete SUService from administrative command prompt) and after that System Update installed fine.

  • MacBook Pro won't turn on after installing system updates

So my little "system update" reminder kept bouncing at me last night so I wnt ahead and told it to install updates and went to sleep only to find, my beloved MBP will not turn on this morning.
If I hold the power button, it surely SOUNDS as if it wants to turn on, but the second I let go...nothing, zip, nada.
    Any suggestions?

Not the right time to update and go to sleep. What updates? How much free space was on the hard drive?
Try inserting the OS installer disk in the optical drive and powering up holding down the c key.

  • System Update 4 won't install on W500/Win 7. (Lenovo Support unhelpful and have stopped responding).

    Hello Forum,
I am trying to solve a problem I have trying to install System Update 4.0 onto a Thinkpad W500 running Windows 7.
I did have System Update 3.14 running a while ago and was told to update to 4.0 but to date I have not been able to install this. Version 3.14 was uninstalled successfully and a reboot was done before the install attempt. Version 4.0 starts to install and then comes up with an error message.
Lenovo Support were contacted via email and the only suggestion that was given was to completely format the laptop and re-install Windows Vista from the Lenovo disks, (they did at least supply these). This I find an unacceptable solution to the problem as version 4.0 is for Windows 7 only and therefore negate this, but the major issue is I want to fix this issue, not downgrade the whole OS.
The error message reads; "Windows cannot find 'C:\Users\*******\AppData\Local\Temp\pftD377.tmp\setup\psainst.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
They have not contacted me since the 13th July, even though I replied to their message on the 13th, and again on the 22nd July.
If anyone knows how I can escalate this within Lenovo I would appreciate the information.
Apologies if this is the forum or thread for this, but as Lenovo are so unresponsive, they left me no option (and I haven't resorted to bad language and abuse hurling).
    Many thanks all.

  • System Update Won't Load

R51 running XP Pro.  When I click the System Update Icon, I get a message that says - tvsukernel.exe - can not be found.  I did a <Search> and it is not on the system.  Checked the Lenovo System Update folder and see that most of the files were updated on 5/19/2008.  Is it possible that that update deleted 'tvsukernel.exe'?
How do I repopulate that application?

    Hello Mbient,
I would suggest to uninstall and then new install System Updater.

  • G4 won't start up after system update-what do I do now?

I just did a system update. Before I restarted (as required by the update), I used Disk Utility to repair disk permissions. When I restarted the computer, I only got a grey screen. I reset the PRAM, with no effect. I pulled the USB hub, so there is nothing connected to the computer, then tried restarting with DiskWarrior, again with no effect-just the grey screen. I then rebooted from the OS X system disk and was able to access Disk Utility there and redid the disk repair. I then restarted again, but am just getting a grey screen once again.
Any suggestions of what to do now would be appreciated.

The latest updates for Tiger often require a long time to restart (I have read reports of up to an hour), and often two restarts are required to get back to normal.
If you have used Disk Utility to repair your hard disk, and have repaired permissions, then that is about all that you can do.
The fact that the machine started indicates that the update has been applied, and you should be fine.
If you aren't backed up, take this opportunity to back up your files, then restart to confirm the machines health.

  • T43 won't read DVD that has safedisc DRM encryption and System Update not showing BIOS update

I've just acquired a second hand T43 (2668WZT) that is working fine with one exception. I cannot get it to recognise a game DVD that apparently has safedisc DRM encryption on it to prevent copying. The DVD works with no problem on my desktop system but I thought it would be useful to be able to run it on the Thinkpad as well when travelling.
Does anybody have any ideas on what the problem might be? I'm on BIOS level 1.24 and the BIOS level is now up to 1.29 which raises the other slight mystery. I've installed the latest version of system update but that is not flagging any BIOS update as available so I'm a bit reluctant to download and install in case there is some pre-req missing.
All advice on either issue gratefully received!

Yes. It is possible that the DVD could be bad.
It is also possible that your corrupted installation is preventing the DVD from working right.
It would seem strange, except that this happened with another guy as well. But, once we disconnected his internal hard drive with the corrupted OS 10.4.7 install, the machine booted from the DVD and worked properly. We then connected a different hard drive to install to, and it worked fine. Then, we connected the drive as a secondary and formatted it and it resumed working.
But, with an iMac CoreDuo, you cannot open the machine to unplug the drive. So, you'll be a bit stuck if you require the same solution. He had a PowerMac G5.
But, basically, his corrupted OS 10.4.7 installation was preventing booting from a CD, booting into safe mode, booting from an external drive, or any other kind of booting.
So, for him, the only option was disconnecting the internal drive and installing on another one.
I hope this doesn't turn out to be necessary on your system as well. If so, you'll need to take it into the shop for servicing.
The only other option I could think of is to try and boot it into Target Disk mode, and format it's drive with another computer. Perhaps that would work.
Once your internal drive has been cleared (formatted), then it may boot from the DVD again (assuming your problem is the same as the other guys).
You can read about Target Disk Mode here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
You can read about the steps we took to troubleshoot and repair the other guys machine here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2629919#2629919
Perhaps that will help explain what I described above.
    I hope this helps.

  • Just did the latest system updates, restart & won't boot

just did the latest system updates, and keep on getting grey page, apple logo & spinning icon??

If you read any of the posts about wireless lack of connectivity, I think you will discover that your problem is related to their problems. Some people have Kernal panics immediatley, and if you have a wireless setup and the machine is trying to connect wirelessly, it kernal panics and doesn't continue. If this is not the case, write back so that further troubleshooting can take place. By the way it would help if you posted whether your MacBook was a Core2 duo (Broadcom wireless chipset) or Core Duo (Atheros wireless chipset) in addition to the type of router you're using. This gives technicians info they need to duplicate the problem.

  • Macbook will turn on and off but won't restart so i can apply a system update.

lately i've been having trouble with my macbook pro retina display early 2013 model running 10.9. i've had a system update available for a while now but when i try to update the app store will download the update and prompt me to restart but when i try to restart my mac does nothing. i've tried manually updating by downloading the update directly from apple.com, but i get the same result. if i use the restart command from the menu bar apple drop down i get the same result. i can force a restart by holding down power, but the update doesn't get installed. i've tried running a disk check and it repaired a few things and says the disk is fine now, however i still can't find a solution to this very frustrating problem.

bump? i've been trying to figure this out with google and a few friends and have made no progress.
