System User _Unknown

While similar to previous threads ... I've encountered a different flavor of issue with the _unknown user.
It has appeared this week exclusively (all other folders appear correct) at the top level, Macintosh HD drive. This isn't a traditional folder, rather an actual hardware device. get info shows users: [ _unknown, admin, everyone ]. Discovery came when I was unable to create a new folder on the first level of that drive. admin permissions had changed to read; _unknown had read/write. I changed admin to read/write and solved the symptom ... the problem remains. I've run permissions repair, rebooted ... all the usual stuff.
I believe the _unknown has replaced System. I hesitate, knowing little about Unix architecture and because it is the system hard drive, to try something like chown.

I may just be stupid but:
I have followed at least a dozen of these discussions. There is a server involved or all files and folders are affected or _unknown shows up as a user in sharing or accounts system Preference panes.
None of the symptoms match mine. And, in every case I read, it is a user account/group NOT SYSTEM that has been replaced by _unknown.
The hard drive is a non-standard folder and System is a non-standard user. These are my concerns.

  • How to schedule job with a system user BTC_100

    Hi,
Someone setup the background job user BTC_100 as a system user (not a dialog nor service user). I need to schedule a new job and want to have the createBy as BTC_100 instead of my own ID.
I got error (Please logon as a dialog user) when tried to logon as BTC_100.
Do people usually set up their background job ID as a system ID? How can I schedule a new job as BTC_100?
    Many thanks in advance!
    -Serine

    Hi Prince,
Besides the step owner, I wanted to have the job owner to be BTC_100 as well. Otherwise when I run SM37 and search for job, I'll have to put my ID instead of keep it as BTC_100.
From SUIM, I see BTC_100 has been changed from dialog to SYSTEM so maybe I have to change it to dialog first, create the job and then change it back to SYSTEM?
    thanks!

  • How do I get system users/groups to appear in the Workgroup Manager list?

When I open the Workgroup Manager and select the Users tab, it only shows users set up in the Workgroup Manager -- same when I browse Groups. But, I also have a couple system users/groups set up not in the workgroup manager, but through the OS's System Preference interface for Users.
Is there a way to automatically have System users appear in the Workgroup list?
I also can't add users to System groups, since the groups also won't appear in the Workgroup Manager (like adding a user to the group Admin or Staff -- default system groups).
I'd just like the option to "show System users and groups" somewhere.
    Thanks.
    Patrick

    Hi
If I understand your post correctly then launch WorkGroup Manager and select Preferences from the WorkGroup Manager Menu. Enable the Show "All Records" tab and inspector option and click OK. In the Users/Groups/Computer tab you should now see the addition of another icon - it looks like a bullseye. Select this and under the filter field selecting 'AccessControls' will show you a long list. Scroll down and select Users. Now go back to the Users tab and you should see all users visible and invisible. You’ll see the same thing for Groups.
You will see different Users and Groups depending which directory node you are in. In the LDAP node you should only see Directory and System Administrator as well as VPN MPPE Key Access User in addition to any user you have created within that node. In the local Net Info node you should see users such as Amavisd User, Clamav User, Cyrus IMAP User etc. You’ll also see UIDs and GUIDs amongst a wealth of other information if you select a user or group and select the Inspector tab.
You can modify record attribute and values as well as adding your own. You can even use WGM in the same way you would use Net Info Manager locally if you wish.

    check his role.
is surrogate bidding available for that bidder.
via surrogate bid , purchaser can submit bid on behalf of the bidder.
    masa is correct
pposa_bbp - search via user . so he might be  a purchaser.

  • How to find the when the password is changed for a system User

    Hi to all,
We have a test database where our application connects to system user. The application runs more than a month without any issues, But suddenly my system and sys password gets changed. I wonder how this would happen. I have checked with DBA_USERS to check whether the account gets locked, But the account is in the Open state.
I need to find out when the password gets changed for these users and who changed it? Is there any possible to trace it or we need to enable the auditing to find it in future.

As I write wrong user and pass it yields an error, as I write the right user and pass it returns to the same page again. I used uppercase for system and lower case, but the problem goes on. • How to use the SYSTEM user in hana cloud

Hello guys, I started with HANA cloud trial, but I havent been able to activate any projects due to an error with permissions,
    Repository operation failed
Repository request failed. Cause: Repository: User is not authorized to execute specified operation;User 'DEV_7UKVVFEAC54C2E59OZZQSHXEN' has no authorization, privilege: 'REPO.EDIT_IMPORTED_OBJECTS', package: 'hello'!, code: 40,156, argument:
Now I believe the problem is obvious is that I dont have enough privileges, I went to the Users view and tried to add permissions to my user but I found out other error:
SAP DBTech JDBC: [7]: feature not supported: grantor and grantee are identical
Now I saw in several threads that if we want to add more privileges we should add them using SYSTEM user, but I just dont know how to log in with the SYSTEM user or how to switch to that user.
Any ideas or steps on how to do it?
    Greetings!

I just tried performing the exact same steps as described in the tutorial and I can confirm that I get the same error. I get the same error from the Web IDE when trying to activate folders created via the sharing wizard of the Studio.
The problem would seem to be with the Studio version that is currently available from the HANA Tools update site.  When packages are created from the project explorer (either directly or through project sharing), they are marked incorrectly as foreign projects (the little blue arrow on the icon).
However if you create the packages via the Content folder of the Systems view (as I did above for the hello package) or via the Web IDE; they are created correctly. I was able to setup a project in the Studio by pre-creating the package in such a way and then creating/sharing the project into the existing package.  I still got an error on the .settings sub-folder, but I could ignore it and still activate the other objects.
Therefore I would suggest this approach or using the Web IDE.

  • File Permissions on Oracle Directories for other Operating System Users

    Hi,
I am trying to export the table data to flat file using a pl/sql function using UTL_FILE package and directories created using 'CREATE DIRECTORY' command. The function is called from a stored procedure which in-turn is called from a Java program using JDBC and the Java process runs as different operating system user. The problem for me is the file exported is being written as 'ORACLE' user with 'OINSTALL' group and '-rw-r--r--' linux file permissions. When I try to read this exported file from the java program it throws me a file access error.
I would like to know if we can specify any additional parameters either in
    1) Database parameter file
    2) UTIL_FILE.FOPEN function
    3) CREATE DIRECTORY command
so that the files written to the DIRECTORY have a read write access.

Since you attempting to read the file from Java, you are constrained by the OS.
Write a stored proc to read the file, since PL/SQL does have the correct permissions to read/write to files.

  • Unsecure System User and HKCU

I'm creating a Zen Application object to deploy Microsoft Office 2007.
It will be run as a VBS script, run as the Unsecure System user so that setup.exe can run.

  • System users in XI.

    Hello,
In our XI-PROD system I found 24 system users.
In "system users" I talked about these users:
    DDIC
    J2EE_ADMIN
    J2EE_GUEST
    LSADMIN
    OSS
    SAP*
    SAPCPIC
    SAPJSF
    SAPPORTAL
    SOLMAN
    SUPPORT
    TMSADM
    WF-BATCH
    XIAFUSER
    XIAPPLUSER
    XIDIRUSER
    XIISUSER
    XILDUSER
    XIMERC
    XIREPUSER
    XIRWBUSER
    XISUPER
    XITOBW
    XIUSER
    My questions are:
    1.     All of these users are essential?
    2.     Can I unite some of them?
    3.     How you behave with this issue?
    Elad

    Hi Elad,
Each Service User provided in XI has a specific role & used for specific reason.
For each component, service users representing the respective components are created with the appropriate roles in the target components during installation.
Service users are used for Internal Communication & message exchange.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/9f/d12940cbf2195de10000000a1550b0/content.htm
Its not a good idea to Unite the Service Users.
If that was issue SAP would have provided only one user for all internal communication and message exchange.

  • Dropping Non-System Users

I've been looking at our Oracle database here in the office and it seems it's been some time since someone sat down and wore a DBA hat for some maintenance and much needed clean up. I was going to start and remove the user roles and assigned schemas for all non-system accounts that had no tables and or data in it. I was wondering how I can tell the difference between a Oracle required system user needed for RDBMS operations or if it was a post install added user / role / schema? Just trying to pro-actively clean up and remove the clutter. Before any changes were made to this system, I used RMAN to create a complete full backup of the entire system state & data.
Thanks for any info and or help!

I was going to start and remove the user roles and assigned schemas for all non-system accounts that had no tables and or data in it.What if it is a database account that, although not owning any objects (tables) in the database, has been granteed access (SELECT , INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE) to another schema's objects ? This non-owning database account might be in use for a particular application or user.
    This :
    select username from dba_users
where username not in (select distinct(owner) from dba_objects);will list database accounts that don't own objects.
You must be careful not to drop pre-seeded accounts that may not be owning objects but may be needed for various database functions.
Similarly, you must be careful not to drop accounts that are used by applications to access data in other schemas.
