System with ipod dock

I am looking for a good bookshelf systemm with ipod dock.  Other than Bose, are there anything new and innovative out there?

Howdy gracep,
When I think of a shelf system, what I really want is something stylish that will fit with my home decor.  In looking into what’s currently available, I found a range of products that vary in appearance from functional to futuristic and in price from very affordable to quite high end.
The products I researched had the key component that you requested: an iPod dock – almost a necessity in our portable-music world.  I found at least 20 different units on BestBuy.com with name brands like Denon and Polk Audio on the high end, Klipsch and Sony in the midrange, and extremely affordable units by JVC, Philips and Insignia.  They all have the functionality to play CDs of most kinds (CD, CD-R, CD-RW, etc), and mp3 and WMA formatted music; some have a radio tuner built in too.  In appearance they vary from efficient (although somewhat boxy) boom-box systems to rounded modern designs that would look nice in any home – and not necessarily tucked away on a shelf!
My recommendation would be to select a brand that you know and with which you are comfortable.  A number of these units are on display at your local Best Buy® and the home audio specialists there would happily demonstrate them and assist you in selecting just the right product for your home or office.
Thanks for writing!

  • Ipod 1st Generation not playing on RCA RS3081i audio system w/ iPod dock

I just bought an RCA RS3081i that clearly states that it can be used with iPod Touch 1st & 2nd Generation. I have followed the instructions on how to use my iPod (1st gen) but the music will not come through the speakers, only the iPod itself. It shows that it's charging so I know it's docked correctly. I have also tried using my cell phone to play mp3s through the line in and that also won't work. The speakers are set up correctly as the radio and cd player on the system works fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    An update to the issue:
I just tried my friend's Video iPod in the radio and it worked perfectly.
Apparently, there is something wrong with the Shuffle itself that triggers the radio to turn off. As for what that problem is or what it is caused by, I'm still clueless.
It is probably some kind of defect which I'll have to have looked at.
The only suspicion is that, after browsing these forums for an identical problem, I found none. I just hope that this isn't something that is being transfered from computer to iPod and then on to the iH30 radio, as my security and virus protection on this laptop is weak.

  • No sound on my home audio system with universal dock

    Hi,
I have 2 docks: the iPod dock and the universal dock.
If I use the dock with my home audio system I have sound - clear and loud.
If I use the universal dock I have no sound.
Does the universal dock only work with a remote?

If the home audio system is the same, the cables are the same, the iPod is the same, and the settings are the same, than I would assume you have a bad dock.

  • Stereo with IPOD dock

    Hello,
It is time for me to update my home stereo. I am looking for a nice to good mini stereo system that sounds great and has an IPOD dock on it. I want to be able to use the radio with it as well as play CDs if I need to (just in case I need something that's not on the IPOD). Some of the systems out there seem pretty cheap so I am looking for some advice. Also, I don't really want to spend more then $300 bucks.
I have a brand new IPOD Nano 8GB 3rd gen. What do you suggest.

I bought The Logitech - AudioStation Express Speakers

  • Looking for dual wireless rechargeable headphone system with dual docks

I'm looking for a pretty specific product, and was wondering if anyone knows of a product that'll fit the bill.
I want a wireless dual headphone system with a charging dock for each headset. Transmitter should accept line level signal from dual RCA plugs. I'd prefer a 900mhz transmitter, but IR is acceptable. Either the system should come with two headsets or it should be a system with a transmitter/headset with the option to add a charging dock and an additional heaset.
My old system was a Sony which is on its last legs, and I found a replacement from another manufacturer with dual headsets but it lacks charging docks - you have to plug the heaset into the transmitter and both heasets can't be charged at once. Also, the manufacturer says not to charge a headset for more than 24 hours or you can damage the battery.
Anyone know if Sony or someone else makes what I want?
    Solved!

    Hi Verne,
Sony does not have manufacture dual Wireless Headphones. You can perform an Internet search and check for any third party dual headphones.

  • Using nano with iPod dock -- no sound

I've seen lots of mentions that the dock connector on the nano is "standard". So I plugged the nano into my older iPod dock at home (came with my 40GB monochrome iPod). Power charging works, but with the nano plugged in I get no sound through the line out port on the dock. The 40GB iPod sound works fine through the same dock.
Is this expected or do I have a defective nano? Thanks in advance.

    Eric,
I noticed an odd behavior trying to use my nano with my friend's docking station the other day. I would get no sound out of the dock unless I reset the nano. In playing around with it, it seemed that plugging in my headphones caused the audio out through the dock connector to stop. lf I simply reset the nano before connecting to the dock (after unplugging the headphones), then the audio out through the dock worked fine.
It might just be something funky with my Sony headphones, but I didn't have my Apple buds with me to try.

  • Syncing with iPod dock

I have the iPod dock with the sync cable that came with a iPod Video 5G 30gb.
What I would like to know is that is it possible to only SYNC an iphone to a PC using the ipod dock and older ipod sync cable to just move songs, videos, charging, etc from the computer to the phone without damaging the phone?
(I do not want to control video out, or audio or anything, only sync)
Basically, I would just swap out the current dock adapter with an iphone one.
Will this action cause damage? (in other words, would the Apple Universal Dock be a better choice for syncing?)

I don't know if I'd go any older on the docks then the most recent generation on iPods. Going too much older, or getting into the ones that used Firewire is/ could be bad for the iPhone. They use far too much wattage output. Basically it's best to only use the dock that came with the phone.

  • Firewire causes Fatal/Stop Windows error with ipod/dock connector

    Hello,
Anyone have any ideas on this one? It's an older Ipod so I'm sure there's some kind of fix for this by now... and I see alot of issues with this on the net in general (but no fixes....wait, now I'm worried...).
    Windows XP, sp2
    New PC, screaming RAM
USB 2.0 works fine, can update 3g Ipod (20GB with dock connector) just fine (and doesn't charge the ipod which is normal for 3g/2.0 USB connections).
When Firewire is connected, charges Ipod just fine until Itunes starts up and tries to access the Ipod, in which case Windows gets blasted out of existance with a fatal stop error.
Is this a bus command issue? Driver issue? Everything works just fine with everything else. I'd like to use the firewire to keep the thing charging while I synch as the USB port runs the battery down QUICK!

    hiya!
(didn't we already meet off in another thread about this sort of thing?)
When Firewire is connected, charges Ipod just fine until Itunes starts up and tries to access the Ipod, in which case Windows gets blasted out of existance with a fatal stop error.
what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're just seeing a flash of a blue screen, we can use this technique to slow it down a bit:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Problem with ipod dock and apple remote

I have a problem with my apple remote and my 5th gen ipod on a dock. I set it up and plug it into a TV, yet when i get into a music video playlist- it will only play 4 songs (the same ones) and then go back to the song selection screen. The same thing happens in the movie "tab" as well.
    Any ideas?

    btabz,
Thanks for your response. No the iPod doesn't respond at all--the volume display doesn't come up or change.
When I press the play/pause or either skip forward or back on the remote, the iPod, while on the dock, lights up and responds to the command as it should. But when I press volume up or down on the remote the iPod does not respond at all.
According to Apple's store info on the remote, the volume up/down controls should work. I am wondering if maybe it doesn't work with the 3Gs for some reason. But if that is the case, Apple should indicate that. It is kind of frustrating to not be able to adjust the volume.
    Thanks,

  • Portable 7" to 9" display video player with Ipod docking

I am looking for a portable device that will dock my Ipod 160 GB Classic so I can view my videos on a larger display. The items that I did find (Memorex and Audiovox) will not work with the Ipod Classic because of 30 pin cable that Apple forces you to use to output to another display such as a TV with either component or composite inputs. Any suggestions?

have you checked video out ("TV out") settings on the ipod? they should be set to "ask" or "always on"

  • Help please with ipods dock windows and mac based

    Hello everyone,
I have an ipod but want to upload from two different locations. I found out from a reply from a previous question that I can do that but my problem seems to be that I have a windows based laptop at home but at my other location in my office I am using a Mac. From what I read I can not do this from one location to the other without reformating my ipod everytime which would be useless to me sense I do not have the same music or do all of my purchases from one location. Is this possible to upload from a windows and mac computer from two different locations or is this impossible? Thanks in advance!!!

Probably the easiest way to use an iPod on both Mac and Windows computers is to format the iPod (using iPod Updater) using the PC. This will force your iPod to use the Windows file system (FAT32) which both the Mac and PC can read from and write to without the help of additional software. Of course then all your software updates for the iPod will have to be done on Windows.

If you need to use a Mac (HFS+) formatted iPod on a Windows PC, you'll need to install some 3rd party software such as XPlay 2.0 (which you can get from MediaFour Software). This will enable your Windows PC to read a Mac-formatted iPod.
    Then see this.

  • IPhone does not work with IPOD Dock to select next song / pause - play

After using the iPhone at the gym, the IPhone quit working using the remote for the Docking station to navigate to next song nor pause / play. Suspect Iphone connector....
Also the iMuffs Headset bluetooth adapter that plugged into the iphone connector quit working. Tested iMuffs bluetooth connector on another iPhone and is still functioning.
any ideas?? clean connector?? short?? service??
Note, the iPhone still syncs with iMac via docking port (USB). So the connector is not totally bad.

Have you tried a reset...and if that doesn't work ..a restore? Back up your phone before you restore.

  • Ipod dock please help.

i was lucky enough to recieve a new ipod nano for christmas and a SONIQ FM radio with ipod dock.
i was wandering is it safe to leave my ipod in the dock as a storage device for extended periods of time. thank you

i wouldn't leave it on the dock when not using it, as the dock also acts as a charger. if your continually charging your ipod it will shorten the battery life. It happened to me and you can't replace the battery when it dies.
