Need some suggestions to fix this.

Dinension server has probably problems with accessing the database.
First, use tnsping from hyperion server to database instance according to your tnsnames.ora, for example: tnsping hfmdb
If this fails, you have to modify tnsnames.ora.
If it's ok, then stop all EPMA services and reconfigure EPMA (register with SS, config DB and deploy to app server). Use "drop all tables..." to clean the whole EPMA DB scheme.
Then try to start EPMA services again.
Hope this helps...

    Hi,
Your problem is you have installed it on XP, this is not a suported OS and EPMA does not work well with it.

  • Cannot Start EPM Architect Process Manager after a Power Failure

    Hey All,
We had a power failure in the office last night/this morning. We have two environments, and luckily, our production environment seems to be working OK, however, on our development environment, we cannot get the EPM Architect Process Manager to start (or any of the associated services).
Here is what we have tried already:
    - Restarting the server
    - Restarting all services in the correct order
    - Running EPM System Configurator for Performance Management Architect > Configure Database (the first time, we just re-used the same tables, and had the same error. We did it a second time and dropped the tables and were able to get the service (and all other EPMA services) to start, but we couldn't get into the Application or Dimension Library.
    - Restoring the EPMA DB schema from backup from two nights ago - same error when trying to restart the service.
We are running 11.1.1.3 (04 patches for Planning and CalcManager, but not EPMA). We are running MS SQL 2005 for the relational databases.
Error message when restarting the service:
"The Hyperion EPM Architect - Process Manager service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically..."
When we go to the event viewer, it tells us:

Looking for some suggestions or ideas. Have tried searching the forums and Google, but haven't had any success.

Ironically I just got alerted by Oracle that EPMA patch 03 had been pulled from the MOS site and replaced by patch 04.
You are receiving this notification because our records indicate that you have downloaded Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Architect 11.1.1.3.03 Service Fix – Patch 9650100.
Please be advised that Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Architect 11.1.1.3.03 Service Fix - Patch 9650100 has been removed from My Oracle Support and is superseded by Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Architect 11.1.1.3.04 Service Pack – Patch 9800827.

Please thoroughly review the Readme for Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Architect 11.1.1.3.04 Service Pack - Patch 9800827 prior to implementing.

  • S9 EPM Architect Process Manager fails to start.

    Hi All,
I just tried doing Hyperion System9 installation and am encountering a problem.
The Problem is, Installations are all done and the Configuration also seems to be
fine as i get to know from seeing the Configuration utility window, but once i am done with
configuring the Performance Management Architect, i tried starting the
Hyperion S9 EPM Architect Process Manager and it was not starting, even i tried increasing the
timeout setting for the startup of the dimension Server in the BPMA_Server_Config.xml file.Still
         it failed in starting..
Other than all the steps mentioned in the doc,Few steps i skipped during the Planning Installation was,
1.I didnt check the Activate instance option while creating the Planning Instance
2.I didnt Increase the Heap Size of App Server.
So could someone please suggest on what is creating the Problem during the startup.

    Hi,
For more detailed information on why it is not starting have a look in windows event log. In windows go to administrative tools > event viewer > application
Double click HyS9BPMA_ProcessManager and there should be a more detailed description in the window.
e.g. Service cannot be started. Hyperion.DimensionServer.ProcessManager.Interface.ProcessManagerException: Process Manager could not start because database connectivity could not be established. --->
    Cheers

    Hello,
I am also have the same issue with my install. The EPM Architect Process Manager errors out with the following message:
Service cannot be started. System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot start service HyS9BPMA_JobManager on computer 'BIGDADDY'. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion

Any Ideas as to how to fix this? I've tried increasing the timeout variable, but the process errors out in less than 10 seconds so i don't think that is an issue. Any additional help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Unable to start Hyperion EPM Architect - Process Manager after upgrade

    Hi All,
I'm unable to start Hyperion EPM Architect - Process Manager after upgrading from EPMA 11.1.1.3.0 to 11.1.1.3.03. I get the following error in the Event Viewer.
Service cannot be started. Hyperion.DimensionServer.ProcessManager.Interface.ProcessManagerException: Cannot initialize the Session Manager. ---> Hyperion.DataAccessLayerCore.DataAccessLayerException: Database version mismatch:  Hyperion.SessionManager schema version is 9.5.0.0.0.10,  database schema version is 9.5.0.0.9.1.

I've run through all the steps of patching EPMA ran the Oracle_Upgrade 9.5.0.0.0.10 to 9.5.0.0.9.1.sql script per the patch readme. But can't figure out where it's pulling the schema version number from. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Chuck

    Hi,
you forgot to update the EPMA database. Last step in patching is:
Now, you must run the database upgrade script before starting the process manager.
Run the single database upgrade script that corresponds to your database vendor.
    Oracle_Upgrade 9.5.0.0.0.10 to 9.5.0.0.9.1.sql
    SQL_Server_Upgrade 9.5.0.0.0.10 to 9.5.0.0.9.1.sql
    DB2_Upgrade 9.5.0.0.0.10 to 9.5.0.0.9.1.sql
The scripts are located in the following directory:
    %HYPERION_HOME%\OPatch\EPMA_11_1_1_3_01\files\products\Foundation\BPMA\Server\conf\
    hope that helps.

Hello, I have found the solution in my environment.
All Hyperion softwares will run on a x64 bit OS with x64 bit Oraclle client installed except FDM. I tried to run everything through Oracle x32 bit client and everything worked except EPMA, I received errors in the eventvwr that stated it could not run against a x32 bit Client. On my FDM server (w2k3 x64 bit) I had to install Oracle x32 bit client in order for me to get my FDM server fully functional.

'Hyperion EPM Architect - Process Manager' service doesn't start automatically as it supposed to. I do start it manually then it starts saying "starting" for a minute or two then stops itself, and bunch of other dependent services stop along with it as well.

  • EPM Architect - Process Manager service hangs when shut down via script

    Hello all,
We have a shutdown script which brings down all of our EPM 11.1.1.3 services. It works perfectly for everything except for one service. Thanks for the reply. Checking the Event Viewer on the server I did find an application error log related the the service not stopping properly. I forwarded the error on to our EPM consultant who created the script.

  • Unable to Restart EPM Architecht Process Manager

    Hi.
It's the second time i have this problem.
I can't restart EPM Architect Process manager because this message block the start of the service :
The Hyperion S9 EPM Architect Process Manager service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example the Performance Log and Alert Services.
Obviously the same error appears if i try to start S9 EPM Engine Manage, S9 EPM Event Manager and S9 EPM Job Manager.
The first time i had this problem, a consultant of Hyperion from Manchester was unable to solve the problem after a remote connession on my server.
    He suggested to reinstall Planning.
But now I can't reinstall it because i lose all!
    Could you help me?
    Thanks
    Bye Bye

  • Hyperion EPM Architech-Process Manager will not Start

    Hello-
On April 1st we had some issues with a re-deployment of an application and Oracle Support told us to change Deployment_Pending_Timeout config from 8 hours to 4 min. Then we tried to restart the Hyperion EPM Architech-Process Manager task on the server and it would not restart. Below are the error message we recieved in Event Viewer. We worked with Oracle Support all last week and they finally suggested we install Patch 9535372 to fix out issue. So we installed patch and it did NOT fix our issue.

Something appearently went wrong in EPMA database and unfortunately this is not something extraordinarily unusual in EPMA world. If you have a reliable backup dated just before 1st of April, I would advise to restore it back. Otherwise, you have to dive into the dark tunnels of EPMA tables which I would not recommend quiet highly.
    Cheers,
    Alp

    Hi there,
When you created the SQL Server user did you specify a password for the 'hypdb' database? In my experience sometimes when you change your windows password, SQL no longer recognises it. I've created a SQL Setup guide which you may want to take a look at http://atmyplace.co.uk
Take a look at the SQL install and setup guide for Hyperion as it may help you.
    Thanks
