SystemCenterDTSPackageTask runs for 10 hours +

Hello,
The process SystemCenterDTSPackageTask is running for 10 hours+ everyday... it ends successfully but the 14-Day History is never showing in the dashboard...
I noticed two task taking most of the time
Step 'DTSStep_ExecuteSQLTask_SC_EventParameterFact_View_1_Insert' succeeded
Step Execution Started: 8/11/2014 5:58:03 AM
Step Execution Completed: 8/11/2014 11:04:40 AM
Total Step Execution Time: 18396.277 seconds
Progress count in Step: 0
and
Step 'DTSStep_ExecuteSQLTask_SC_EventTypeDimension_View_1_Insert' succeeded
Step Execution Started: 8/11/2014 1:33:12 AM
Step Execution Completed: 8/11/2014 4:53:04 AM
Total Step Execution Time: 11991.672 seconds
Progress count in Step: 0
this does not seem correct. Where to look for clues about this??
From the two views having delays during the task run:
Reviewing the tables and Views apparently the SC_EventParameterFact_Table is HUGE!!! 308 millions rows…

308 Millions rows in the table is it not an issue for the process to handle this? Should it not be purge? Cleared somtime?
Treating 308 Millions rows and trying to insert more is it not an issue which could interfere with other process?
SC_EventTypeDimension_View is only 9 rows and to do an insert it takes 3 hours!!!
any idea about this which seems to be an issue?
Thanks,
Dom

  • Exception Thrown When a Scheduled Task Runs for Many Hours

    In the Oracle documentation here (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10391_01/doc.910/e10367/toc.htm#CACGBDAD) it states that the below exception can get thrown when a scheduled task runs for many hours (on OAS) and can be ignored:
    Primary Server went down going to get a fresh object elsewhere in the cluster.
    com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIConnectionException: LRU connection
    Just want to find out from other users that get this error (If there is any), have you found the scheduled task actually completes, then the error is thrown or what?
    I just don't feel comfortable that one of our tasks is completing properly due to this exception occuring and causing the task to stop midway through processing...

    Hi,
    I've had trouble with scheduling PowerShell scripts in the past as well. You can try running your script in the SYSTEM context by launching a cmd prompt this way, just to verify that the issue isn't related to the account itself:
    http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/archive/2010/08/25/150872.aspx
    This method does require PSExec, there's a link to the tool in the post if you don't already have it on hand.
    You can also start PowerShell as SYSTEM and play around if you need to:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/ben_parker/archive/2010/10/28/how-do-i-run-powershell-exe-command-prompt-as-the-localsystem-account-on-windows-7.aspx?Redirected=true
    Not the best answer, but hopefully it helps shed a little light on the issue.
    Good luck.

  • I am trying to erase all contents on my iphone 4, its been running for 6 hours now, is this normal?

    I am trying to erase all contents on my phone, I am trying to get it back to factory settings,  I don't have any jailbreaks or anything like that on my phone, The circle thing has been running for six hours now, is this normal? Before I did that, I tried to do it through itunes, and it would not restore it through there either? Im at a loss?? That took only like 5 min before it says sorry it could not be restored. This is taking forever....

    Hello Stephiworld,
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
    It sounds like you are trying to restore the phone to its factory defaults but the process is stalled or the phone is totally unresponsive.
    If the phone will respond to the Sleep/Wake button, I would turn it off the normal way, then turn it back on.
    iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    When it turns back on try the Erase All Content and Settings option again.
    If the iPhone is completely unresponsive and will not turn off normally, I would reset the device with this process from the above article:
    If your device stops responding, you can reset it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • Firefox 5.0.1 update-recommended to update-runs for 24 hours until I stop it because it never downloads-have tried numerous times.

    I keep being recommended by a pop-up window to download Firefox 5.0.1 for my MacBook Pro. I have tried numerous times--even letting it run for 24 hours and it still does not complete. Then a day or two later it asks me again. What do I do to get it to download.

    If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

    Thanks for the straightforward tip. I had restarted once already, but the second time was a charm. The install button now works. Don't know if it mattered, but I also repaired disk permissions and then restarted in safe mode this time.
    The printer driver is apparently a different issue in itself. It turns out that the my printer, the HP Deskjet F380, has some fluke that makes it incompatible in 10.6. A new driver is coming out from HP according to Rickmeister in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10076690&#10076690
    In case anyone else has the same problem with the F380: Like the user in the aforementioned thread, I downloaded and installed the old HP drivers for 10.5, and now at least I can print in the meantime.

  • Network disconnects after Mac mini is running for several hours but a reboot fixes it

    i have updated my Mac mini to Yosemite but now it has a networking problem after running for several hours . Trying to open a webpage in Safari or chrome doesn't work, the remote site appears to disconnect.  Mail is not downloaded and email already downloaded has no images when I display them.  Interestingly DNS resolution is working nslookup finds the IP but telnet to a web site on port 80 gets an instant disconnect.
    THe connection ion is wired into a hub and the ISP connection is fine from the other computers on our home network.
    I am now rather perplexed how to fix this without constantly rebooting the Mac which just goes against the grain.

    Generally, yes, it is not very uncommon to see bad performances after upgrade, just need to configure everything as well, especially on db level (i.e. statistics).

  • How to kill Forms Runaway Process using 95% CPU and running for 2 hours.

    We had a situation at E-Business Suite customer (using Oracle VM server) where some of Form processes were not being cleared by form timeout settings automatically.
    Also when user exits the form session from front end, the linux form process (PID) and DB session did not exit properly, so they got hung.
    They were spiking CPU and memory usage and causing e-business suite to perform slowely and ultimately causing VM host to reboot the production VM guest (running on Linux).
    We could see the form processes (PIDs) using almost 100% cpu with "top" command and running for a long time.
    Also we verified those Form Sessions did not exist in the application itself.
    ie. Using from Grid Control -> OAM-> Site Map -> Monitoring (tab) -> "Form Sessions".
    It means that we could safely kill that form process from Linux using "kill -9 <PID>" command.
    But that required a continuous monitoring and manual DBA intervention as customer is 24x7 customer.
    So, I wrote a shell script to do the following;
    •     Cron job runs every half an hour 7 days a week which calls this shell script.
    •     Shell script runs and tries to find "top two" f60webmx processes (form sessions) using over 95% cpu with 2 minutes interval.
    •     If no process is found or CPU% is less than 95%, it exits and does nothing.
    •     If top process is found, it searches for its DB session using apps login (with hidden apps password file - /home/applmgr/.pwd).
    a.     If DB session is NOT found (which means form process is hung), it kills the process from unix and emails results to <[email protected]>
    b.     If DB session is found, it waits for 2 hours so that form process times automatically via form session timeout setting.
    It also emails the SQL to check the DB session for that form process.
    c.     If DB session is found and it does not timeout after 2 hours,
    it kills the process from unix (which in turn kills the DB session). Output is emailed.
    This are the files required for this;
    1. Cron job which calls the shell script looks like this;
    # Kill form runaway process, using over 95% cpu having no DB session or DB session for > 2hrs
    00,30 * * * * /home/applmgr/forms_runaway.sh 2>&1
    2. SQL that this script calls is /home/applmgr/frm_runaway.sql and looks like;
    set head off
    set verify off
    set feedback off
    set pagesize 0
    define form_client_PID = &1
    select count(*) from v$session s , v$process p, FND_FORM_SESSIONS_V f where S.AUDSID=f.audsid and p.addr=s.paddr and s.process='&form_client_PID';
    3. Actual shell script is /home/applmgr/forms_runaway.sh and looks like;

    If you have the same problem with some other unix and DB processes, the script can be easily modified and used.
    But use this with thorough testing first (by commenting out <kill -9 $PID1> lines.
    Good luck.

  • Delete overlapping requests runs for 5+ hours ...This is too long

    We are on BW 3.5 and have a process chain that loads 3 years of data from a cube on the APO Server and AOP data from the BW server into a cube on the BW server.  Each load is in its own infopackage.  This loads happens every week.  We want to delete the loads that occurred the week before using the delete overlapping requests.  It is set up as follows:
    <b>1.</b>Drop index of Cube
    <b>2</b>.Load Current Year data into Cube via Infopackage #1.  Loads approximately 32 million records.  Selections on calweek: 200701 – 200752.  Infosource: InfoSource for APO-DP Cube from APO(ZAPODP_I11). Datasource: APO-DP Backup Cube(8ZAPODPC73).  Source System: APP Client 200(APPCLNT200).  The Data targets tab is set up as follows: ‘Automatic Loading of similar/identical requests from the cube’ wherein Delete Existing Requests Conditions: Infosources are the same.  Selections are overlapping.
    <b>3</b>.Load Current Year + 1 data into Cube via Infopackage #2.  Loads approximately 32 million records…Selections on calweek: 200801 – 200852.  Rest is same as above #2.
    <b>4.</b>Load Current Year +2 data into Cube via Infopackage #3.  Loads approximately 32 million records…Selections on calweek: 200901 – 200952. .  Rest is same as above #2.
    <b>5</b>.Load AOP data into Cube via Infopackage #4.  Loads approximately 135,000 records.  Infosource: AOP Plan(8ZAOPC01). Datasource: AOP Plan(8ZAOPC01). Source System: BW Production(BWPCLNT100).  The Data targets tab is set up as follows: ‘Automatic Loading of similar/identical requests from the cube’ wherein Delete Existing Requests Conditions: Infosources are the same.  Selections are overlapping
    <b>6.</b>Create index on cube
    <b>7</b>.Delete overlapping requests from cube.  The process chain step is set up to ‘Use Delete Selections for Infocubes from the Infopackages’
    <b>The issue is that step #7 runs for more than 5 hours.</b>  That is way too long.  When we manually delete the requests, it takes 5 minutes.  How can I fine tune this processing?  Thanks in advance!
    <b></b>

    What is your dbms? Does it support partitioning? If it does then deleting requests merely drops the corresponding partitions, which should be very fast.
    If it does not support partitioning then you're running SQL delete statements to delete the data, which could take a long time if you're deleting tens of million of records. BTW how long does it take to load the same data?
    P.S. Just saw your last point about manually deleting the requests taking only 5 minutes. Did you delete one request at a time or multiple request at once? The previous poster wanted to know whether you had background processes to run the deletion job. i.e. Did the deletion really took 5 hours, or did it wait a few hours to start the job?

    I am doing some experiments at the moment which are supposed to last for 18 hours.
    Basically, I use a LabVIEW program to control a power supply through a LabJack U6 DAQ. I am currently using LabVIEW 8.5 on Windows 7.
    In order to do that, I use a laptop where everything has been disabled such as power management settings, network access is off, windows updates are also off...
    As far as I know, the computer can't turn into sleep mode or just shut down (I'm a 100% sure of that actually).
    But last night, I started an 18 hours experiment at 5 pm, and when I came in this morning, the program shutted down by itself. Fortunately, the power supply is still providing the voltage I want, but I can't figure out why the program crashes.
    When I start the experiment, it also automatically starting saving data in a spreadsheet file (I guess the size of the file should be 36 MB), so it might be a problem of memory access or something.
    I really don't know what could have cause this crash, does someone have an idea?
    I saw some other threads similar to my problem but I am not running an executable, I am running the front panel directly from the editing mode.

    Hi,
    thank all of you for your quick answers!
    @Josborne : I do not have an error handling in my program. Actually you can look at my program in the attachment file. This is my first LabVIEW program so I've never dealt with error in and error out function... Moreover, what is a log file exactly?
    @Johnsold : Yes, I am building an array continously growing over time. Actually, my program stops saving data when you hit the "STOP" button, it doesn't write into a spreadsheet file through a period of time, that is something I eventually need to correct.
    @LabJackSupport : I can try to reduce my time step, so far it's 100 ms. I have a problem with disconnecting the USB cable from the computer though : for no reason, if I just unplug the connection between the LabJack U6 and the computer, my power supply will just go providing 157 Volts! And for my experiment, this is something we don't want to have so we just leave it as it is now. Disabling some part of the program is a good idea, I can try it
    Thank you for your answers

  • Anonymous PL SQL block runs in 2 minutes but runs for 4 hours in Applicatio

    We are facing an issue with a custom code. When we run the custom code as anonymous pl/sql block , it completes in 2 minutes.
    But when we run the same from Oracle Application as a concurrent program, it runs for more than 4 hours.
    There is absolute no change in the code.
    Anyone faced this issue?

    Does your code use context sensitive views such as po_headers?
    Maybe you have not set the context in the pl/sql block so the view returns 0 records.
    But when you run it in Apps, the context is automatically set and so it processes a large number of records.
    Set the context if you have not and then try again.
    begin
    dbms_application_info.set_client_info('&org_id'); --
    end;
