Systemd service conventions on package installation and removal
If a package contains systemd service files, is there an expectation that the services are started/enabled during install and stopped/disabled during removal?
No. Leave that to the user. The only thing that you may want to do is add a message to the install script's post_install function to remind the user.

Please do not jump to conclusions and make assumptions here like 'when will people finally get it??'. I never said it was a benchmark. I have also seen many examples of where it's results do not go with conventional performance. I have a Radeon 9000 that goes faster on glxgears than a Geforce FX 5600 running Nouveau. Which is the faster card? The FX by miles. It is not a benchmark as it can not be compared between configurations. What I know is that on this individual system, from prior experience over many years when 3D acceleration is working glxgears gets between 300 and 400 fps. When it is not working it gets less than 10. That is a fact but does not mean it is benchmarkable. Yes, a Quake 3 timedemo (I have these numbers too and they very much correlate to glxgears performance for this system given just how slow it is) would be a benchmark but when it runs less than 0.1fps and even the 2D rendering means that navigating the menu is impossible, there just isn't the time to find out. Hence if playing around with drivers on this system I would use glxgears to check that 3D acceleration is working but not to benchmark. Glxinfo does not give you all this evidence.
But to clarify, I wouldn't use glxgears as a benchmark, benchmarking is different and I do a lot of that too. -
Several systemd services failed on fresh installation
Hi, I installed Arch with the latest iso a few weeks ago.
Now I saw services failing.
I disabled everything that refers to krb (kerberos), because I don't need it yet.
But there are 2 failed services left, I don't know how to solve them loading. Or If it is a good idea to disable them too, because I don't know what they are for:
mdadm.service
systemd-journal-upload.service

JDmdadm is for RAID. And for all systemd services, you can read the relevant man page to see what it does.

I've tried everything from reinstalled to unistalling to turning my laptop of, resetting my Ipod and removing everything Apple related and Installing them again and yet it still doesn't recongise my Ipod but 'My Computer' does and it recongises it as a camera?
Please any help would be appreciated specially if this has happened to you, I'm lost without my Ipod and i've been trying to fix it for the past 3 months

SIM CARD INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL
When installing or Removing a Sim Card Make sure You Use Caution: When holding the Sim do it by it's Edges an do not Touch any of the Gold surface as it extremely Sensitive to Static Electricity.
Note: the Reason i wrote this post was to make it aware to new owners to 4G an the Sim Card Especially the Mini Sim as it can be on the difficult side to remove it from the Holder. When i removed mine from the holder i used a x-acto knife with a No.11 blade it came out easy an when i installed it in my Razr i put it in as described but i used a Toothpick cut to wear it had a blunt face on it. I then put the toothpick up against the Sim an then pushed it in the rest of the Way.Warning, it's also VERY EASY to put it in upside down - which I just realized I did! I got an error that "A SIM card is needed to operate this phone. Please turn off your phone and insert your SIM card." I turned off my phone, tried to put it in with the gold side up, couldn't get it to fit. Finally, after trying a couple more times, it slid right in! Now, all is working on my phone again! Remember -- GOLD side UP!

Platform 8.1 SP3 Package Installer error
I downloaded the Platform 8.1 SP3 package installer and received an error when installing. The error message states that the file is corrupt - error 2. I have tried this twice and get the same result each time. I have 2 GB of disk space free and am running Windows NT SP6. I'm going to try the SP2 package now.

Let's check your Windows system.
1. Have you done all the important windows updates and service Packs on your system. If not do it now. START button, type in Windows Update and ENTER. Select 'CHECK FOR UPDATES'
2. Let's check your Windows system files for possible file corruption
SCAN and repair possible Windows system file corruption:
Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
type in
sfc /scannow
let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
Restart the computer if it did actually repair any files.
3. Check your system for possible Malware. But you have to do it in WIndows Safe Mode.
Start your computer in "Safe mode with networking", go to this link download a free version of Malwarebyte.

Install and perform update immediately, then do a full SCAN. Remove malware if it indeed finds any. Restart computer to regular windows to let Malwarebyte complete the removal.
To start your computer in safe mode
Press and hold the F8 key as your computer starts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight the "safe mode with networking" option, and then press Enter. Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights.
When your computer is in safe mode, you'll see the words Safe Mode in the corners of your screen. To exit safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally. -
[SOLVED] systemd-arch-units conflicts with mdadm and xinetd packages
Trying to upgrade my testing box today to latest/greatest and running into a file conflict between systemd-arch-linux providing systemd profiles for xinetd and mdadm which also think they control the same files:
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
/usr/lib/systemd/system/mdadm.service exists in both 'mdadm' and 'systemd-arch-units'
/usr/lib/systemd/system/xinetd.service exists in both 'systemd-arch-units' and 'xinetd'
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
Should I just do a force? I am not relying on systemd yet. Or should I just remove systemd?

I'm unable to install Itunes on my new PC. I'm logged in as the administrator And have deleted my browsing history. Try the following:
Uninstall iTunes and Quicktime
Reboot
in the task tray right click the quicktime icon and click exit.
navigate to the folder in program files and remove the quicktime directory and all its files.
Reboot.
Now try install iTunes and quicktime and it should work

download and install "right click take ownership"

locate the adobe folder inside the programdata folder, mine was located at "C:\programdata\Adobe"
right click the adobe folder, and take ownership of the folder.

At what point in the process are you getting this message? Have you tried downloading a fresh copy of the iTunes setup file from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ ?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
